Edith E. Hemminger, 88, of Fairview Township died Saturday, Dec. 20, 1997 in Harrisburg Hospital.
She was a member of Eberly's Mill Church of God, Camp Hill.
She was the widow of Gilbert W. Hemminger Sr.
She is survived by a son, Gilbert W. Hemminger Jr. of Carlisle, and five granddaughters.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Kimmel Funeral Home, Harrisburg. Burial will be in Rolling Green Memorial Park.
Viewing will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Forever Caring Fund of the Church of God Home, 801 Hanover St., Carlisle, PA 17013.

A memorial mass will be celebrated for Mary E. Hill Arthur, 81, a guest at the Claremont Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. in St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Marsh Drive, Carlisle.
She died Saturday, Dec. 20, 1997 in Carlisle Hospital.
Born Feb. 20, 1916 in Tauton, Mass, she was a daughter of the late Delmer Jay and Mary Murphy Hill and the widow of Francis W. Arthur, who died in 1977. She was a former resident of Greenport, Long Island, in New York.
Mrs. Arthur was a 1934 graduate of Winooski High School in Winooski, Vt. and a 1938 graduate of Fanny Allen Hospital School of Nursing in Winooski.
A registered nurse, she also was well-known for her poetry and received many awards for her work. She was the author of the book "Rebel Nurse," which was published in 1959.
She was a veteran of World War II, having served in England with the U.S. Army Nurse Corps as a 1st lieutenant. She received the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal.
Mrs. Arthur was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church in Greenport, VFW Post 6704 and American Legion Post 109 in Mechanicsburg, the National Organization of World War Nurses, the Pennsylvania Poetry Society Inc., and the National Federation of State Poetry Societies.
She is survived by two daughters, Jean E. Arthur of West Palm Beach, Fla. and Mary A. Powell of Carlisle; a brother, D. James Hill of Medford, N.J.; a sister, Virginia LaPointe of West Palm Beach; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The Rev. Andrew J. Fontanella will be the celebrant at Tuesday's memorial mass. Burial will be at the convenience of the family at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Lebanon County.
Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle, is in charge of the funeral arrangements. There will be no viewing or visitation.
Memorial contributions can be made to the American Heart Association, 1019 Mumma Road, Wormleysburg, PA 17043.

Funeral services for Bertha Mae Clark, 92, of 15 Church Road, Carlisle, will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Dickinson Presbyterian Church, Carlisle.
She died Saturday, Dec. 20, 1997 in Manor Care Health Services, South Middleton Township.
Born Dec. 5, 1905 in Greenwood Township, she was the daughter of the late Jesse C. and Anna M. Lindsay Brookhart and the widow of John J. Clark.
She was formerly employed at the Mary Cameron Estate in Donegal and the Cameron Estate at Kings Gap.
She was a member of Dickinson Presbyterian Church and Plainfield Grange 1727.
Surviving are two daughters, Joan L. Bonsall of Millerstown RD 3 and Grace E. Mellinger of Carlisle; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Richard D. Clark; six brothers; and six sisters.
The Rev. Dr. W. Marvin Randolph and the Rev. Andrew T. Bradley Sr. will officiate at services. Burial will be in Dickinson Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Penn Township.
There will be no viewing or visitation. Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home, 219 N. Hanover St., Carlisle is handling the arrangements.

Funeral services for Annie B. Garlin, 80, of RD 2, Newport, will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in David Myers Funeral Home, Second and Walnut streets, Newport.
She died Friday, Dec. 19, 1997 in Carlisle Hospital.
Born April 20, 1917 in Newport, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Elma Reeder Beard and the widow of William L. Garlin.
Mrs. Garlin was retired from the Duncannon Dress Factory.
She is survived by a brother, Robert W. Beard of Carlisle; two sisters, Mary B. Nailor of Carlisle and Sara Parthemore of Albuquerque, N.M.; two nephews and one niece.
Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral Home. The Rev. Gary Bells will officiate at Tuesday's services.
Burial will be in Bloomfield Cemetery, New Bloomfield.
Memorial contributions can be made to Newport Ambulance League, P.O. Box 66, Newport, PA 17074.

A memorial Eucharist service was held today for Otis J. Hill, 85, of 5099 Conocodell Drive, Fayetteville, formerly of Williamsport, at 10:30 a.m. in Christ Episcopal Church, 426 Mulberry St., Williamsport.
He died Friday, Dec. 19, 1997 in Chambersburg Hospital.
Born April 11, 1912 in Rittle Creek, he was a son of the late John D. and Mabel Houseknecht Hill and the widower of Eleanor J. Stoetzel Hill, who died Sept. 15, 1995.
Mr. Hill was a 1929 graduate of Williamsport High School and attended Lycoming College, Williamsport. He was a manager at National Cash Register in Hagerstown, Md., for 30 years, retiring in 1975, and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He was a member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Shippensburg, Royal P. Steinbacher American Legion Post 611 in South Williamsport, Burt J. Asper American Legion Post 46 in Chambersburg, John F. Laedlein Lodge 707 F&AM in Williamsport and Penn National Golf Club in Fayetteville.
He is survived by a daughter, Susan H. Glick of Fayetteville, and one granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Larue Hill, in 1963 and a sister, Lorena Ranck, in 1997.
Canon William F. Murphey officiated at funeral services. Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery, Williamsport.
There will be no viewing, but friends will be received Tuesday in the home of his daughter, 5125 Conocodell Drive, Fayetteville, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
The family requests the omission of flowers. Memorial donations can be made to St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, 21 N. Prince St., Shippensburg, PA 17257.

Graveside services for Lois M. Petrontonio, 90, of Bayshore Drive, Bowers Beach, Del., formerly of Jacksonville, Fla., will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Barratts Chapel Cemetery, Frederica, Del.
She died Saturday, Dec. 20, 1997 in her home.
She was the widow of Frank Petrontonio, who died in 1961.
Surviving are two daughters, Bonnie L. Reisinger of Bowers Beach and Ruth Sprout of Carlisle; 16 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
Lofland Funeral Home, Milford, Del., is handling arrangements.

Funeral services for Margaret A. Sheaffer, 85, formerly of Loysville, will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Nickel Funeral Home, Loysville.
She died Saturday, Dec. 20, 1997 in Perry Village Nursing Home, New Bloomfield.
Born March, 1, 1912 in Blain RR 1, she was the daughter of the late George M. and Bertha A. Wentz Scott and the widow of Albert K. Sheaffer.
She was retired as a laundress at Perry Village Nursing Home, New Bloomfield and a cook at the former Perry County Home, Loysville.
She was a member of Sheaffer's Valley Church of God, Landisburg RR 2.
Surviving are a son, Wayne A. of Loysville RR 1; four daughters, Betty J. Barninger of Millerstown RR 1, Helen L. Smith of Mechanicsburg, Linda K. Stuber of Hummelstown and Shirley A. Nace of Loysville RR 1; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
The Rev. Jay B. Eickhoff will officiate at Tuesday's services. Burial will be in Restland Cemetery, Loysville.
Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.

Lewis H. Shellenberger, 81, of 871 Braggtown Road, Dillsburg, died Sunday, Dec. 21, 1997 at his home.
Born Oct. 8, 1916 in Dillsburg to the late John and Gertie A. Trimmer Shellenberger, he was a livestock farmer, a Standard-bred horse breeder and trainer, and a poultry vender at the Broad Street Market, Harrisburg.
He was a member of Mummerts Church of the Brethren, East Berlin and the U.S. Trotting Association.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy M. Crook Shellenberger; two sons, Robert L. of Camp Hill and Richard R. of Dillsburg; a daughter, Marilyn E. Krysher of Dover; and six grandchildren.
Services will be held Friday at 1 p.m. in Cocklin Funeral Home, 30 N. Chestnut St., Dillsburg with the Rev. Harry Nell officiating.
Burial will be in Franklin Cemetery, Franklin Township, York County. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
