Robert Dulla Sr.
Robert Dulla Sr., 65, of Republic, Pa., passed away Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2001, in Brownsville General Hospital.
He was born Dec. 8, 1935, in Searights, Pa., a son of Helen Wydo Dulla of Footedale, and the late Albert Dulla.
Mr. Dulla was a member of Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church in Republic, and was a retired assistant mine foreman from U.S. Steel’s Maple Creek Mine.
Besides his father, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Joshua Robert Malec; and a brother, William Dulla.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 42 years, Marian (Toots) Kvortek Dulla; a daughter, Debbie Malec and her husband, Stanley of Republic; a son, Robert Dulla Jr., and his wife, Laura of Jefferson Estates, Pa.; two granddaughters, Ashley Marie Malec and Victoria Jeanne Dulla; and a sister, Mary Landman of Uniontown.
Friends will be received in the ROBERT T. KISH FUNERAL HOME INC., Legion Street, Republic, on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and on Friday, Feb. 2, 2001, until 9:30 a.m., when a prayer service will be held. A Funeral Mass follows at 10 a.m., in Holy Rosary Church, with the Rev. Fr. Stephen R. Bugay as celebrant. Interment will be in Holy Rosary Cemetery. A Parish Wake Service will be held on Thursday at 8 p.m.

Henry L. Gibson
Henry Lee Gibson, 63, of Fairmont, W.Va., died Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2001, at his residence.
He was born Jan. 30, 1938, in Farmington, W.Va.
Surviving are his wife, Doris Della Weese Gibson; six children, Jean Price and Joyce Marlowe, both of Freemont, Ohio, John, Kim and Ray Gibson, all of Tampa, Fla., and Brenda Norman of Hibbs, Pa.; 13 grandchildren; one great-grandson; and nine brothers and sisters.
Friends will be received in the JEROME W. SHELL FUNERAL HOME, 164 South Mt. Vernon Ave., Uniontown, Pa., on Thursday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m., an don Friday until 10 a.m., the hour of service, with Pastor Bob Norman officiating. Interment will follow in Farmington Cemetery, Farmington, W.Va.

Frank E. Kollar
Frank E. Kollar of Lemont Furnace, Pa., died Monday, Jan. 29, 2001, in St. Francis Medical Center in Pittsburgh.
He was born April 5, 1912, in Upper Middletown, Pa., the son of the late George and Anna (Bodnar) Kollar.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Anna Midlik Kollar, who died on Dec. 11, 1971; and his second wife, Stella Frederick Speshock Kollar, who died on Oct. 18, 1996; a daughter, Esther M. Hudock, who died on July 8, 1995, and her husband, Edward Hudock; a son-in-law, Edward Kovach who died on Oct. 16, 1991; five brothers, Michael, George, John, Stephen and Paul Kollar; and four sisters, Anna Kollar, Elizabeth Saluga, Susan Potocar and Mary Powers.
He was a machinist and diemaker for J&L; Steel at Vesta 5 and Richmond Radiator. He was also a self-employed concrete contractor with Kollar Concrete. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, in Uniontown. He was also a member of the Circle Club, the UMWA, and the Senior Citizen’s Club of Uniontown.
Surviving are a son, Ronald F. Kollar of Lemont Furnace; a daughter, Virginia A. Kovach of Seven Hills, Ohio; two stepsons, William E. Speshock Jr. and his wife, Patricia of Fairchance, Pa., and Robert J. Speshock and his wife, Shirley of Rhome, Texas; four grandsons, Brian Hudock, Bradley Kovach and his wife, Phyllis, Curtis Kovach and Brent Kovach and his wife, Debra; a step-grandson, Josh Speshock; and two great-grandchildren, Anna Rae Kovach and Ian Sheridan Kovach.
Friends will be received in the STEPHEN R. HAKY FUNERAL HOME INC., AT SYLVAN HEIGHTS Cemetery, 603 North Gallatin Ave., Uniontown, today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and on Thursday until 11:30 a.m., when a blessing service will be held, in the funeral home, with Joseph Haley OFM officiating. Interment to follow at Sylvan Heights Cemetery. The Circle Club will hold a service this evening at 7 p.m., in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to your favorite charity, in memory of Frank E. Kollar.

Robert S. Marquis
Robert S. Marquis, 30, of Waynesburg, Pa., and formerly of Greensboro R.D. 1, Pa., died unexpectedly on Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2001, at his home, in Waynesburg.
Mr. Marquis was currently employed as a quality control engineer at Kyowa America Corporation in Waynesburg, and received his mechanical engineering degree from Penn State University in January of 1994.
Surviving are his parents, Gary L. and Marguerite (Peggy) Marquis of Greensboro R.D. 1; a sister, Laura E. Marquis of Greensboro R.D. 1; and his paternal grandparents, LeRoy and Lila Marquis of Greensboro R.D. 1.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by the Yoskovich Funeral Home, 300 South Vine St., (Route 88), Carmichaels, Pa.

Thelma J. McElhaney
Thelma Jean McElhaney, 81, of Connellsville, Pa., died late Monday, Jan. 29, 2001, in the Beverly Health Center, Uniontown, Pa.
She was born Oct. 1, 1919, in New Bethlehem, Pa., a daughter of the late Walter C. and Dora Mae Haupt Mohney.
Thelma was a loving homemaker, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She attended the Beauty Academy in New York, and was a volunteer at the former Connellsville State Hospital for many years. She was a member of the Albright United Methodist Church, in South Connellsville, and was the choir director for several years.
Surviving are her loving daughters, Carla Dawn Laws and her husband, Larry of Ninilchik, Ala., Nadine Eichenmiller and her husband, Fred of Pittsburgh, Renee Kovach and her husband, Frank of Uniontown, and Reanne Berger and her husband, Kevin of White; eight grandchildren, Windi Kretchman of Myersdale, Aileen Johnson and Larry Ray Laws, both of Alaska, Jennifer and Lindsay Eichenmiller, both of Pittsburgh, Dwaine and Joel Berger, both of White, and Shane Kovach of Uniontown; a great-granddaughter, Madeline Dawn Johnson; and a sister, Helen Morgan of Houston, Texas.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin McElhaney Jr., on March 7, 2000; a brother, Vernon Mohney; and an infant brother, Bobby Mohney.
Friends will be received in the BROOKS FUNERAL HOME INC., 111 East Green St., Connellsville, today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Thursday at 1 p.m., in the funeral home, with the Rev Dr. Byron Tate Fulton officiating. Committal service and interment will follow in Green Ridge Memorial Park, Pennsville.

Loretta M. Naylor
Loretta Mae Naylor, 81, of Smithfield, Pa., died Monday, Jan. 29, 2001, at her home.
She was born April 7, 1919, in Crellin, Md., a daughter of the late Charles and Mila Moats Shipp.
A nurse’s aide, she formerly worked in Morgantown at the Vincent Pillotti Hospital, and West Virginia University Hospital, and then retired from the Monongalia General Hospital.
She is survived by her daughter, Mary Naylor of Smithfield; two sons, Delmar Naylor of Strongsville, Ohio, and Robert Naylor of Point Marion, Pa.; seven grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Delmar Naylor in November of 1966, and was the last of 12 children, having been predeceased by six brothers and five sisters.
Friends will be received in the RICHARD R. HEROD FUNERAL HOME, Point Marion, today from 10:30 until 11:30 a.m., when a funeral service will be held, with the Rev. Gerald A. Capan officiating. Interment follows in Fletcher Cemetery, Cheat Lake, W.Va. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the Fayette Home Care, 100 Woodlawn Ave., Uniontown, PA 15401.

Rev. Jack A. Rodgers
Rev. Jack A. Rodgers, 43, of Uniontown, Pa., died Monday, Jan. 29, 2001, in Uniontown Hospital.
He was born May 4, 1957, in Uniontown, a son of Georgia Carlton Rodgers of Uniontown, and the late Jack A. Rodgers Sr.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by an uncle, Jimmy Ayers.
Surviving, in addition to his mother, are his wife, Patricia Ann Horvath Rodgers; two sons, Jack A. Rodgers III, and Patrick Andrew Rodgers, all of Uniontown; a stepmother, Penny Val; a brother, the Rev. Brett Rodgers of the state of California; and two aunts, Virginia Armel of Uniontown, and Betty O’Brien of Detroit, Mich.
Rev. Rodgers was employed by Reese Brothers of Charleroi, was a licensed SCUBA instructor, and a member of the Golden Keys Club.
Friends will be received in the JEROME W. SHELL FUNERAL HOME, 164 South Mt. Vernon Ave., Uniontown, today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and on Thursday at 11 a.m., the hour of service, with the Rev. Don Smith of the World Christian Outreach Church officiating. Interment will follow in Jacob’s Lutheran Cemetery, McClellandtown, Pa.

Alex D. Shashura
Alex D. Shashura, 81, of Malden, Pa., went home to be with the Lord on Monday, January 29, 2001.
Born March 27, 1919, in Homestead, Pa., he was a son of Artem Shashura and Matrona Chuyka Shashura.
Alex was a member of Holy Resurrection Orthodox Church in West Brownsville. A World War II Veteran, he was a member of Hancock-McCune-Horne American Legion Post 705, Centerville.
He retired in 1981 from J&L;’s Vesta 5 Mine where he had 43 years of service. He was the owner/operator of the Malden Drive-In Theatre for 13 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, by brothers, George, Joseph, Charles and John, and by sisters, Anna and Mary.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Pauline Losko Shashura; their children: Paula and her husband, John Gutosky, Alexa and her husband, Steve Hvizda, and Alexander Shashura and his wife, Carol; his brother, Steve Shashura; 10 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends in the CONFER FUNERAL HOME, 515 Front Street, Brownsville, Pa., today from 1 to 9 p.m., and on Thursday from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Funeral Services will then be conducted by The Very Rev. Fr. R. George York.
Burial will follow in LaFayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill, Pa., where Military Honors will be accorded by his American Legion Post. Parastas will be this evening at 7 p.m. with his Archpriest, The Very Rev. Fr. Samuel Smolcic.

Elmer M. (Bud) Swan
Elmer M. Bud Swan, 83, of Connellsville died Monday, at Highlands Hospital, Connellsville.
His wife, Helen B. Dawson Swan; four sons, John R. Swan of Walhalla, S.C., Douglas A. Swan of Indian Head, Eugene D. Swan of Normalville and E. David Swan of Palm City, Fla.; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and a brother, James W. Swan of Orlando, Fla., survive him.
Friends will be received at Brooks Funeral Home Inc., 111 E. Green St., Connellsville, today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and until Thursday at 11 a.m.

Grant R. Townsend
Grant R. Townsend, 72, of Masontown, Pa., died unexpectedly on Monday, Jan. 29, 2001.
He was born Feb. 21, 1928, in Masontown, Pa., the son of the late Harry N. Townsend Sr., and Helen Honsaker Townsend.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Diakunik Townsend; and one brother, B. Wendell Townsend.
Surviving are a son, Bernard M. Townsend and his wife, Sandy of McClellandtown, Pa. two daughters, Mrs. Joseph (Donna) Trifero of Masontown, Pa., and Mrs. Kenneth (Janet) Umbel of Thompson No. 1, Pa.; three grandchildren, Kenny Umbel Jr., Diana Trifero and Nathan Townsend; two brothers, Harry N. Townsend Jr., and Glenn Townsend, both of Masontown; and one sister, Mrs. Robert (Sue) Miller of Apple Creek, Ohio.
Grant was the owner and funeral director of the Grant R. Townsend & Son Funeral Home.
Friends will be received in the GRANT R. TOWNSEND & SON FUNERAL HOME, 220 South Main St., Masontown, today from 7 to 9 p.m., on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and on Friday at the Masontown Mennonite Church from 12 noon to 1 p.m., the hour of service, with the Rev. Roger C. Saunders officiating. Interment will be in Greendale Cemetery, Masontown R.D., Pa.

John K. Wilson
John K. Wilson, 90, of Smithfield, Pa., died Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2001, in Brownsville General Hospital.
He was born April 7, 1910, in Smithfield, Pa., son of the late John H. Wilson and Elizabeth Gillis Wilson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Eunice G. Wilson; one sister, Faustena Nicholson; and one brother, Lawrence Wilson.
Surviving are three children, Michele Dillow and her husband, Tim of Smithfield, Pa., Gail Guyms and her husband, Thomas of South Side, Pa., and Keith Wilson and his wife, Betty of Stafford, Va.; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends in the GOLDSBORO-TOMI FUNERAL HOME, 21 East Church, St., Fairchance, P., on Thursday, Feb. 1, 2001, from 10 until 11 a.m., the hour of service, with the Rev. George McLaughlin officiating.
Interment will follow in Mount Moriah Baptist Church Cemetery, Smithfield, Pa.
