Harley L. Strouse, Jr.

Harley L. Strouse, Jr., 81, of Cogan Station, died Friday, Oct. 31, 2008 at the Williamsport Hospital following a brief illness.

Born July 28, 1927 in Williamsport, he was the son of Harley L. and Hazel C. Lord Strouse, Sr.

He was married to the former Sarah A. Seidel, until her death on Sept. 24, 2006.

Mr. Strouse was a Navy veteran of World War II .

He helped start the Hepburn-Lycoming Little League, enjoyed family trips to Canada, hunting, fishing and was an avid New York Yankees fan. Mr. Strouse was a member of the Balls Mills United Methodist Church, having served as its treasurer.

He was a production supervisor for the former Sylvania Plant in Montoursville, retiring in 1983.

Surviving are a son, Marc W. (Barb) of Muncy; daughters, Cathlene A. (Robert) Hyde and Laraine L. (Phil) Shannon both of Cogan Station; brothers, Jack and Dan both of Cogan Station and Charles of Trout Run; sisters, Virginia Young of Jersey Shore, Maxine Shirn of Williamsport and Bev Kane of Cogan Station; grandchildren, Brian, Brad and Sean Hyde, Katie Boltz, Phillip Shannon III, Beth Earnest, Benjamin and Brooke Strouse and Harley’s Angels, five great granddaughters.

He was predeceased by brothers, William and Max.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 29 at Knight-Confer’s, 1914 Memorial Ave., with the Rev. D. Gregory Lake officiating. Visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. Burial will be at Balls Mills Cemetery, Hepburn Township.

The family will provide the flowers and suggests contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Disease Assoc., 63 North Franklin St., Wilkes-Barre, PA 18701 or to the Balls Mills United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 5941 Bloomingrove Rd., Cogan Station, PA 17728.

Marvin Dale Myers

Marvin Dale Myers, 79, of 943 Laurel Run Road, Hughesville, died Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2012 at home.

Born Jan. 4, 1933 on the family farm in Moreland Twp., Lycoming County, he was a son of the late Arthur and Pearl (Gower) Myers.

A 1950 graduate of Muncy High School, he was inducted into the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War.

Marvin was a member of the Local 520 Plumbers & Pipefitters Union and assisted in the construction of the Three Mile Island and Berwick nuclear power plants. For approximately 25 years, he owned Christmas tree farms in Hughesville, Lairdsville and Unityville. Due to his love of the outdoors, he decided to open the former Myers Sporting Goods in Muncy, which he operated with the help of his family for several years. Marvin was extremely fond of fishing and hunting, especially for deer and turkey. He played softball in his younger years for both a church league team and for Sprout’s. Marvin was also a member of the Muncy Valley Moose Lodge 866 and the Roland Ritter Post #268 American Legion, Muncy.

Surviving are three sons, Timothy M. Myers of Muncy, Steven D. Myers of Hughesville and David A. Myers of Williamsport; one daughter, Lisa A. Kelley of Tampa, FL; one brother, Robert A. Myers of Muncy; two sisters, Martha Miller of Montoursville and Mary Jane Filler of Florida; five grandchildren, Keri Krause of Picture Rocks, Katherine Myers of Williamsport, Jeffrey Myers of Hughesville, James Kelley Jr. and Ashley Kelley, both of Tampa; one great-granddaughter, Lilli Krause and his former wife, Shirley Vassallo of Muncy.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his twin brother, Melvin and another brother, Harvey Myers; one daughter, Marcia Myers; and his son-in-law, James Kelley.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 7 at Grenoble’s, 121 S. Main St., Muncy. Officiating will be Rev. Dr. Donald P. Edwards, pastor of St. Andrew Evangelical Lutheran Church, Muncy. Burial with full military honors will follow in Muncy Cemetery.

Friends will be received from noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.

The family will provide the flowers and suggests memorial contributions be made to the S.P.C.A., 2805 Reach Road, Williamsport, PA 17701.

Melita C. Johnson

Melita C. (Hoffman) Johnson, 93, formerly of Pennington, NJ, died Monday, Jan. 2, 2012 atMelita Johnson the Williamsport Regional Medical Center.

Born Jan. 26, 1918, in Sharon Hill, PA, and raised in North Wildwood, NJ, she was a daughter of the late William and Melita (Borth) Hoffman.

A graduate of Merchantville High School, she married Conrad J. Johnson on August 5, 1939 in Merchantville, NJ. He preceded her in death on Feb. 11, 2009 after 69 years of marriage.

Melita and Conrad moved to Pennington, NJ, where he was a professor at The College of New Jersey. They spent two years in Wiesbaden, Germany and a year each in Dundee, Scotland and Frankfort, Germany, where Professor Johnson taught Industrial Arts.

She played in the bell choir as a long time member of Pennington Presbyterian Church. Melita was a 40-year volunteer at the Pennington Public Library and enjoyed many years of watercolor painting with the St. James Church Art Group. She also enjoyed gardening, reading, sewing and hospitality.

Melita last resided at the Meadows Assisted Living in Montoursville and the family is grateful to them for their kindness to her.

Surviving are one daughter, Janet Woodruff of Montoursville; one son, Barry Johnson of Ewing, NJ; and two grandchildren, Paul Woodruff and Donna (Paul) Zeitzeff.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her son-in-law, Norman Woodruff; and four brothers, Charles, William, Frank and Earl Hoffman.

A memorial service will be held at a later date in Pennington, NJ.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to either Pennington Presbyterian Church, 13 S. Main St., Pennington, NJ 08534 or Pennington Public Library, 30 N. Main St., Pennington, NJ 08534.

Robert J. Dalrymple
(October 17, 1940 - November 25, 2011)

Robert J. (Ripple) Dalrymple, 71, a resident of 250 Montgomery Street, Montgomery, PA, passed away at 5:40 A.M. on Friday, November 25, 2011 in the Muncy Valley Hospital. Born in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, PA, on Thursday, October 17, 1940, he was the son of the late John and Emma (Hart) Dalrymple.

Bob was the husband of Freda M. (Brink) Dalrymple with whom he celebrated a 37th wedding anniversary on February 17, 2011.

Bob was last employed as a security guard by Century Security at Williamsport, PA . He was also employed by the former Ulrich Assembly at Watsontown, PA.

He enjoyed canvas work and watching car racing and wrestling on the television.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, Christopher W. and Lindsay Dalrymple, Montgomery, PA; John R. Dalrymple, Montgomery, PA; two sisters and two brothers, Elizabeth Campbell, Michigan; William Dalrymple, Conn.; John Dalrymple, Hampton, VA; Emily Sterling, Alabama and one grandson, Camden Dalrymple. Bob was preceded in death by one sister, Miriam Way.

Friends will be received by the family at the Dalrymple residence, 250 Montgomery Street, Montgomery, PA on Thursday, December 1, 2011 after 11:00 A.M.

Paul E. Kisner

Paul E. Kisner, 80, of 327 W. Penn St., Muncy, went home to be with his Lord and Savior surrounded by his family on Sunday, January 1, 2012.

Born June 8, 1931 on a farm in Mt. Pleasant Twp., Columbia County, he was a son of the late Frank and Rachel (Neufer) Kisner. On April 23, 1985, he married the former Eleanor J. Simpson, with whom he shared 26 years.

A graduate of Bloomsburg High School, Paul farmed until 1965 when he went to work for Sprout-Waldron, now Andritz, in Muncy. He retired in 1993 after 28 years.

Paul was a member of New Covenant Assembly of God in Montgomery, and loved the Lord with all his heart. He enjoyed helping others by giving of his time and talents. One of his talents involved wood-working, and he crafted thousands of crosses and walking sticks which were donated to the Christian Farmer's Association to be distributed at area fairs and the PA Farm Show in order to spread the good news of the Lord. Paul was also a member of the Christian Farmer's Association and the Bloomsburg Fair Association.

Surviving in addition to his wife, Eleanor, are three daughters, Lori (Joe) Lepore of Williamsport, Tammy Peterson of Montgomery, and Sharon Miller of West Virginia; six grandchildren, Steven Lepore, Alexander Lepore, Colton Peterson, Lyndsie Peterson, Robert Smith and Amanda Verducci; and one great-granddaughter, Ariaunna Verducci.

In addition to his parents he was predeceased by one son, Danny Kisner; one daughter, Brenda Munroe; and one grandson, Jonathan.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, January 4, at New Covenant Assembly of God, 1270 Pinchtown Road, Montgomery. Officiating will be his pastor, Rev. James Pentz. Burial will be held at 3 p.m. at Camby Lutheran Cemetery, Orangeville.

Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Grenoble's, 121 S. Main St., Muncy.

The family will provide the flowers and suggests memorial contributions be made to either Sun Home Health & Hospice, 61 Duke St., P.O. Box 232, Northumberland, PA 17857 or the American Cancer Society Lycoming Unit, 1948 E. Third St., Williamsport, PA 17701.
