Kathryn A. Hudson Breon
DANVILLE - Kathryn A. Hudson Breon, 76, of 207 Greenwood Ave., Yeagertown, died at 12:15 a.m. Sunday, April 15, 2001, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. Born Jan. 29, 1925, in Burnham, she was the daughter of the late Ira Carl and Sara S. (Odenkirk) Harpster. Her husband, Donald E. Breon, whom she married Oct. 22, 1982, survives. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Harold E. "Bud" Hudson on Jan. 24, 1967. Also surviving are: children, Richard A. Hudson, Hatboro and Nancy Ann Hudson, Shippensburg; stepchildren, Mrs. Richard (Carol) Guthridge, Lewistown and Jeffery Breon, Rheamstown; sister and brother, Nancy Haywood, Reedsville and James Harpster, Burnham; two grandchildren; four step-grandchildren and one step-great-grandchild. She was a billing clerk at Lewistown Hospital for 25 years. She was a member of Holy Communion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Yeagertown. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Heller-Hoenstine Burnham Funeral Home, 108 First Ave., Burnham, with the Rev. Philip C. Tundel and the Rev. Myrna Y. Speck officiating. Interment will be in Birch Hill Cemetery, Burnham. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. today and 10 a.m. until the time of the service Thursday at the funeral home. Gladys E. Bressler
STATE COLLEGE - Gladys E. Bressler, 78, of University Park Nursing Center, State College, died at 12:20 a.m. Wednesday, March 28, 2001, at Centre Community Hospital, State College. Born June 29, 1922, in Lewistown, she was the daughter of the late Russell and Isabelle (Carpenter) Wagner. Her husband, Walter M. Bressler, died May 18, 1993. She is survived by children, Kenneth R. Bressler, Mechanicsburg and Mrs. Archie (Connie) Clinger, Lewistown; brother and sisters, Charles "Fern" Wagner, Mifflintown, Mrs. Marvin (Margaret) Bressler, York, and Mary Jane Wagner, New Cumberland; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four brothers and one grandson. She was a seamstress at Arrow Shirt Factory for 25 years, ran the snack bar at F.W. Black Hospital, and taught ceramics at the Senior Citizens Center. She was a member and volunteered at the Salvation Army, Lewistown. Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Barr Funeral Home, 120 Logan St., Lewistown, with Captain Eddie Purvis officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park. Charles A. Briggs
DRY RUN - Charles A. Briggs, 86, of 18786 Main Street, Dry Run, died at 4:45 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18, 2001, at ManorCare Health Services, Chambersburg. Born July 2, 1915, in Doylesburg, he was the son of the late Harvey and Edith (Hockenberry) Briggs. His wife Helen F. (Irvin) Briggs, whom he married on April 19, 1940, survives. Also surviving are: sons and daughters, Arthur L. Briggs, Fayetteville, Bruce R. Briggs, Dry Run, Sandra M. Trutt, Lewistown, and Mrs. Michael (Frances J.) Cavin, Gold Hill, N.C.; a sister, Eva B. "Besh" Flood, Dry Run; 15 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildre, and two great great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Glenn I. Briggs, two sisters and a brother. He was a farmer for most of his life. He worked at Penn State University, State College, and later did masonry work in his home area. He attended the Spring Run Bible Church, and enjoyed hunting and fishing. His funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the John L. Agett Funeral Home, 18875 Main St., Dry Run, with the Rev. John Semple officiating. Interment will be at the Doylesburg United Methodist Cemetery. There will be no viewing.

Helen V. Brininger
LEWISTOWN - Helen V. Brininger, 90, of 401 Harvard St., Lewistown, died at 7:58 a.m. Monday, Feb. 12, 2001, at Beverly Healthcare-William Penn. Born July 27, 1910, in Dauphin County, she was the daughter of the late John E. and Anna (Fite) Mullen. Her husband, Adam W. Brininger, survives. She is also survived by a daughter, Mrs. Larry V. (Bonnie) Harbst, 524 Harvard St., Lewistown; a sister, Thelma Ammerman, 404 S. Main St., Lewistown; and one granddaughter. She worked in the cake converting department of the American Viscose Corporation for 45 years and as a bookkeeper for Brininger's Roofing and Sheet Metal for 23 years. She was Methodist by faith. She was a charter member of the BPOE Lodge 663 Ladies Auxiliary. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Robert Zorn officiating. Interment will be in Lind Memorial Cemetery. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Emma M. Brouse
MOUNT PLEASANT MILLS - Emma Marcellous Brouse, 76, of Mount Pleasant Mills RR1, died at 9:50 a.m., Monday, June 18, 2001, at her residence. Born July 4, 1924, in Washington Township, Snyder County, she was the daughter of the late William Walter and Edna Emma (Strawser) Inch. Her husband, Russell C. Brouse, whom she married Aug. 16, 1941, died March 24, 1975. Surviving are: children, Charles E. Brouse, at home, Walter L. Brouse, McAlisterville RR1, Robert F. Brouse, Middleburg, Mrs. Donald E. (Gladys G.) Bowersox, Hanover and Mary A. Straub, Mount Pleasant Mills RR1; brothers and sisters, Theodore A. Inch, Elizabethtown and Charles E. Inch, both of Port Trevorton RR1, Edna Shaffer, Middleburg RR4, Esther Blaine, Steelton, Mrs. Howard (Dollie) Wyland, New Kingston, Arla Neitz, Mechanicsburg, and Mrs. David (Edna Arlene) Feltman, Richfield; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by: a daughter, Pauline L. Brouse on Jan. 3, 1999; five brothers and one sister, Howard Inch in 1993, Harvey Inch in 1991, Jacob Inch Sr. in 1995, Elwood Inch in 1994, Glenn Inch in 1936 and May Inch in 1928. She was educated in the Washington Township schools. She had been employed as a seamstress for the former Leonard's Garment Factory in Mount Pleasant Mills, Lyons Fashions in Middleburg, and the Juniata Garment Factory in Richfield. She retired from Lyons Fashions, Mount Pleasant Mills, in 1994. She was Protestant by faith. She enjoyed baking and sewing. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the George P. Garman Funeral Home, Mount Pleasant Mills. Interment will be in the Zion Reformed Cemetery, Selinsgrove RR1. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Dolores M. Brower
LEWISTOWN - Dolores M. Brower, 70, of 1755 Lockport Road, Lewistown, died at 2:58 p.m. Wednesday, March 14, 2001, in the emergency room of Lewistown Hospital. Born Aug. 5, 1930, in Lewistown, she was the daughter of the late Eugene E. and Bessie L. (Fowler) Ripka. Her husband, Marlin G. Brower, died Sept. 7, 2000. Surviving are: children, Marlin Gwin Brower Jr., 6 S. Queen St., McVeytown and Rev. Mark S. Brower, 78 Sugar Tree Lane, Lewistown; brothers, Eugene E. Ripka Jr., 604 S. Grand St., Lewistown, Russell J. Ripka, 34 Hawk Drive, Lewistown and James F. Ripka, Second Street, Yeagertown; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Emma Rebecca Brower. She was a 1948 graduate of Lewistown High School. She had worked as a clerk at Goss Market; was a secretary for Attorney Lee Ziegler; had been co-owner of Marger Inc. until 1975; worked for Arrow Shirt Factory; Scotty's Fashions; and James F. Havice Inc. She was a member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, the Gold Star Sunday School Class, and was a former Sunday school teacher and Junior Choir leader. She was also a member of the West Granville Fire Company ladies auxiliary and the Lewistown Chapter 283, Order of the Eastern Star. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Marian Hartman officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park, Lewistown. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Charles W. Brown
LEWISTOWN - Charles W. Brown, 91, of 709 Princeton St., Lewistown, died at 9:05 a.m. Monday, March 12, 2001, at his residence. Born March 14, 1909, in Bedford County, he was a son of the late James and Louise (Wright) Brown. His wife, Clara (Ritter) Brown, whom he married May 29, 1967, survives. Also surviving are: children, Ruth Best, Huntingdon County, Lou Ann Melius, Saxton, and Thelma Bender, Ohio; 10 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. He was the last of his immediate family and was preceded in death by a son, Roy Brown; a daughter, Fedora Brown; and two brothers, Elmer Brown and Ellis Brown. He was a retired carpenter for and a life member of United Brotherhood & Joiners of America Local Union 1333, State College. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Hoenstine Funeral Home Inc., 75 Logan St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Darvin Donahey officiating. Interment will be in Lind Memorial Cemetery. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice: The Bridge, 1126 W. Fourth St., Lewistown, PA 17044.

Gary F. Brown
MILROY - Gary F. Brown, 61, of 61 Hill St. Milroy, died at 10:45 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 18, 2001, at 633 Nagney Rd., Milroy. Born June 19, 1940, in Milroy, he was the son of Dorothy (Laverty) Brown of 95 Andrew St., Milroy and the late Luther Francis Brown. His wife, Flo Ann (Landis) Brown, whom he married on July 20, 1962, survives. Also surviving are: children, Karen Kauffman of McVeytown, Betsy Frank of Milroy and Brenda McMurtrie of Mt. Joy; and a granddaughter, Miranda Frank. He retired in 1995 on disability from the Standard Steel. He was a member of the White Memorial United Church of Christ, Milroy, Moose Lodge 143, Lewistown, where he served on all chairs except Governor, President of the Legion of the Moose in the Local Lodge, held 3rd Degree of the Moose (Fellowship Degree), a member of Keystone Moose Lodge #41, past President of District 6 of Pennsylvania Moose Association, a bowler with the Hickory Homes Team, a member of the Main Street Pool Team, and he formerly played softball for Berube's. His funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Bohn Funeral Home, Reedsville, with the Rev. Andrew Wilson officiating. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Milroy. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
