Trent Michael Delamarter
LEWISTOWN - Trent Michael Delamarter, infant son of Eric Delamarter and Chris Fry of Lewistown, was stillborn Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2001, at Lewistown Hospital. Surviving are: a brother, Kevin Fry, at home; maternal grandparents, Donna Fry and David Stayrook, both of Lewistown; paternal grandparents, Connie Houtz of Lewistown and Jim Delamarter; and paternal great-grandparents, Boyd and Gladys Beaver of Lewistown. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Barr Funeral Home, 120 Logan St., Lewistown, is in charge of arrangements.

Charles W. DeLuca
MERRIMACK, NH - Charles W. Deluca, 71, of 18 Profile Drive, Merrimack, NH, died Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2001, at his home after a long illness. Born June 30, 1930, in Newport, he was the son of the late Charles W. Sr. and Marie (DiBlasi) DeLuca. His wife of 47 years, Patricia (Kearns) DeLuca of Merrimack survives. Also surviving are: a son, Douglas DeLuca, Manchester, two daughters and one son-in-law, Kathleen and Joseph Roemer, Mt. Airy, MD, and Eileen DeLuca, Merrimack; four sisters, Josephine Boova and Katherine Kapp, both of Harrisburg, and Irene Campbell and Mary Jane Stevens, both of Youngstown, OH; three grandchildren, Nicole and Alison Roemer, Mt. Airy, MD, and Michele DeLuca, Goffstown, NH; and several nieces and nephews. He was a graduate of Lewistown High School Class of 1948, a proud graduate and avid football fan of Penn State University, and a resident of State College before moving to Merrimack 30 years ago. He was a former employee of H.R.B Singer, State College, and before retiring was employed as a contract administrator for Sanders Assoc. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Korean conflict in the 25th Infantry and 27th Wolfhounds. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Mercy Church, Merrimack. A mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, at Our Lady of Mercy Church, Baboosie Lake Rd., Merrimack. Interment will be in Last Rest Cemetery, Merrimack. Friends may call from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. Friday, at the George R. Rivet Funeral Home, 425 D.W. Highway, Merrimack. Memorial contributions may be made to: Home Health & Hospice, 22 Prospect St., Nashua, NH 03060 or to St. Joseph Hospital, 4th Floor Oncology Palliative Care, Nashua, NH 03060.

Lizzie M. Detweiler
ALLENSVILLE - Lizzie M. Detweiler, 92, of HCR 61, Allensville, died at 7:35 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2001, at her residence. Born Oct. 13, 1908, in Belleville, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Nancy (Hostetler) Hostetler. Her husband, Samuel Y. Detweiler, died Jan. 20, 2000. Surviving are: children, David H. Detweiler, Belleville, Noah W. Detweiler and Jesse A. Detweiler, both of Mill Creek, Joseph B. Detweiler, Samuel Y. Detweiler Jr., and Mrs. Jonas (Sarah) Zook, all of Allensville; brother and sisters, John A. Hostetler, Goshen, Ind., Mary Smith, Newton, Kan. and Mrs. Fred (Barbara) Slabaugh, Seford, Del.; 42 grandchildren, 135 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by an infant child; one grandchild; one great-grandchild; a sister, Mrs. Daniel (Sylvia) King; and two brothers, Aaron Hostetler and Jake Hostetler. She was a member of the Old Order Amish. Services will be held at 9 a.m. Friday at the Benuel Peachey residence, with Bishop Shem Swarey officiating. Interment will be in the Allensville Mennonite Amish Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday afternoon and evening at her late residence. Bohn Funeral Home, Reedsville, is in charge of arrangements.

Mary Cathryn DeVita
LEWISTOWN - Mary Cathryn "Cathy" DeVita, 73, of 61 Chestnut St., Lewistown, died Monday, Jan. 1, 2001. Born Nov. 28, 1927, in Shamokin, she was the daughter of the late Joseph W. and Vera B. (Graybill) Burns. Her husband of 52 years, Michael L. DeVita, MD, survives. She is also survived by: children, Dennis DeVita, MD, Lewistown, Carolyn DeVita-McBride, Portland, Ore., Cynthia DeVita-Tucker, Cincinatti, Ohio, and Barbara DeVita-Stahl, Hummelstown; a sister, Vera Kotanchick, Pottsville; a brother, Joseph D. Burns, Monroe, Ga.; and eight grandchildren. She was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Roman Catholic Church and was active in many social and community organizations. She held office in the American Heart Association, American Cancer Society, American Red Cross, Universtiy Club, and Mifflin/Juniata County Library Association. She was also a member of the Pennsylvania Nurses Association, Temple Alumni Nurses Association, Lewistown Hospital Auxiliary, Lewistown Country Club and Lewistown Garden Club. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Roman Catholic Church, Third and Dorcas streets, Lewistown, with the Rev. Lawrence Coakley officiating. There will be no viewing. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 26 N. Brown St., Lewistown, PA 17044. Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, is in charge of arrangements.

Michael L. DeVita MD
LEWISTOWN - Michael L. DeVita MD, 79, of 61 Chestnut St., Lewistown, died at 11:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 3, 2001, at his residence. Born Dec. 9, 1921, in Philadelphia, he was a son of the late Lawrence and Alma (Zundmanis) DeVita. His wife of 52 years, Mary Cathryn "Cathy" (Burns) DeVita, died Jan. 1, 2001. Surviving are: children, Dennis M. DeVita MD, Lewistown, Carolyn DeVita-McBride, Portland, OR, Cynthia DeVita-Tucker, Cincinnati, OH, and Barbara DeVita-Stahl, Hummelstown; a brother and a sister, Anthony DeVita, Barrington Gardens, NJ and Mrs. Frank (Marguerite) Gallo, Havertown; and eight grandchildren. He graduated from Temple University in 1943 and from Temple University Medical School in 1947. He completed his internship at Temple University Hospital in 1948. His residency was done from 1948-1949 at the Lewistown Hospital. During the Korean Conflict, he served at the United States Soldier's Home and Walter Reed Hospital in Washington, DC, from 1953-1955. He was a practicing physician in Lewistown from 1949-1993 and most recently had been employed at the Lewistown Hospital in the Cancer Treatment Center. He was a member of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Roman Catholic Church, Lewistown. He was also a member of the American Medical Association, the Pennsylvania Medical Society and the Mifflin-Juniata County Medical Society. In 1962, he was a founding member of the American Academy of Family Practice. He also served as president of the Mifflin-Juniata County Medical Society, Dr. Parcel's Poor Fund and the March of Dimes. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Roman Catholic Church, Third and Dorcas streets, Lewistown, with the Rev. John Schmalhofer and the Rev. Lawrence Coakley officiating. There will be no viewing. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: the Mifflin/Juniata American Cancer Society, 26 N. Brown St., Lewistown, PA 17044 or to the American Heart Association, 501 Howard Ave., Building D, Suite 101, Altoona, PA 16601. Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, is in charge of arrangements.

Robert L. Dickson
LEWISTOWN - Robert L. Dickson, 80, formerly of Terrace Boulevard, Lewistown, died at 8:20 p.m. Saturday, April 7, 2001, at Ohesson Manor, Lewistown. Born Sept. 19, 1920, in Burnham, he was the son of the late Charles and Cora (Barnes) Dickson. His wife, Phyllis (Hockenberry) Dickson, whom he married May 19, 1945, survives. Also surviving are: a daughter, Mrs. D. Robert (Brenda) Reeder, Lewistown; a brother, William E. Dickson, Church Hill, Reedsville; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother, Eugene Dickson. He was a guard at Standard Steel, retiring in 1985. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Lewistown, the Masonic Lodge 203, Lewistown, and a life member of the Elks Lodge 663, Lewistown. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Barr Funeral Home, 120 Logan St., Lewistown, with Karen McCachren officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home, where Masonic services will be held at 8:45 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to: the First United Methodist Church, Third & Dorcas Streets, Lewistown, PA 17044.

Lulu M. Dieffenderfer
LEWISTOWN - Lulu M. Dieffenderfer, 93, of 25 Ivy Lane, Lewistown, died Sunday, Jan. 7, 2001, at St. Clare's Hospital, Denville, NJ.. Born Nov. 22, 1907, in Buffalo Township, Union County, she was the daughter of the late Clark S. and Ella Miriam (Dice) Miller. Her husband of 36 years, Olan H. Dieffenderfer, died June 4, 1981. Surviving are: daughters, Mrs. Arthur K. (Anne D.) Spicer, Lewistown and Mrs. Barry W. (Ruth D.) Lewis, Mountain Lakes, NJ; a sister, Mary S. Koch, Lewisburg; and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, L. Dice Miller. She was a 1928 graduate of Lewisburg High School and received an AB Degree in Mathematics and Education in 1932 from Bucknell University, Lewisburg and a Master of Arts Degree in 1937. She taught school in one and two room schoolhouses; fourth grade and high school in Lewisburg; at the Allenwood-Turbotville High School and Watsontown Elementary School. She retired in 1973 after 29 years of teaching. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church, Watsontown, where she taught Sunday school and the Adult Class. She was Past Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 282 of Watsontown; was Past District Deputy of OES District 13, 1987-1988; and served many district appointments. She was also a former member of Messiah White Shrine, Sunbury; past president of the Pennsylvania State Educators Association, Warrior Run Chapter; past president of Northumberland County Retired Teachers Association; a member of the Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees; the National Educators Association; a two-time president of the McEwensville Garden Club; and a charter member of the Warrior Run Heritage Society. She enjoyed craftwork, needlework and gardening. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Mazeppa Union Church, Mazeppa, with the Rev. Kenneth C. Louder officiating. Interment will be in the Mazeppa Union Cemetery. Friends may call 2-3 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Gary H. Cronrath Funeral Home, South Second and St. Louis streets, Lewisburg, where a service by the OES Chapter 282 of Watsontown will be held at 7:45 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to: the First Lutheran Church of Watsontown.

Bernard K. 'Bud' Diehl Jr.
MCCLURE - Bernard K. "Bud" Diehl Jr., 57, of 15 Barnett Lane, McClure, died at 8:07 p.m. Saturday, July 21, 2001, at the Lewistown Hospital. Born March 28, 1944, in Maitland, he was the son of the late Bernard K. Sr. and Dorothy (Heiser) Diehl. His wife, Maureen (Carlson) Brought Diehl, whom he married July 2, 1982, survives. Also surviving are: children, Todd Diehl, Lewistown and Tonya Diehl, McClure; stepchildren, Russell Brought, Karthus, Kenneth Brought, Arizona and Agnes Jean Truscott, McVeytown; sisters, Mrs. Gerald (Mona) Bickhart, Selinsgrove and Mrs. Keith (Bernice) Metzger, Quakertown; and 12 grandchildren. He was a self-employed contractor and early in life worked for Pennsylvania Glass and Sand. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Juniata Memorial Park, with the Rev. Donald Rowe officiating. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Monday at the Barr Funeral Home, 120 Logan St., Lewistown.
