Elsie M. Kell
MILLERSTOWN - Elsie M. Kell, 87, of Millerstown RR1, died at 5:15 a.m. Friday, May 11, 2001, at Perry Village, New Bloomfield. Born Jan. 25, 1914, in Tuscarora Township, Perry County, she was a daughter of the late Harry E. and Annie J. (Leonard) Barnes. Her husband, J. Edward Kell, whom she married March 17, 1934, died in 1961. Surviving are sisters and brother, Freda Simonton, Perry Village, New Bloomfield and Mary Taylor and David Barnes, both of Millerstown RR1. She was preceded in death by brothers and sisters, John Barnes, Newell Barnes, Roscoe Barnes, Stattie McGowan, Edith Kline, Charlotte Hall and Ellen Fosselman. She was a 1932 graduate of Ickesburg High School. She was employed as a seamstress by the New Bloomfield Dress Company in Newport, until her retirement in 1976. She was a member of the Donnally Mills United Methodist Church and was awarded the Millerstown Senior Citizen of the Year Award in 1998. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, gardening and mothering the neighborhood children. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Donnally Mills United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Donald E. Bailor officiating. Interment will be in Buffalo Cemetery on Liberty Valley Road, Ickesburg. Friends may call 4-9 p.m. today at the Ronald C. Sheaffer Funeral Home, Sunbury and High streets, Millerstown, where the family will be present 7-9 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to: the Donnally Mills United Methodist Church, c/o George Sheaffer, RR1 Box 103, Millerstown, PA 17062, or to the Millerstown Ambulance Association, c/o Amber Fegley, Millerstown, PA 17062.

David B. Keller Sr.
LEWISTOWN - David B. Keller, Sr., 78, of 27 Franklin Ave., Lewistown, died at 3:20 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, 2001, at Lewistown Hospital. Born May 8, 1923, in Harrisburg, he was the son of the late Banks N. and Minnie M. (Bassler) Keller. His wife, Bessie R. (Hall) Keller, whom he married Jan. 17, 1953, survives. Also surviving are: children, David B. Keller, Jr., Pennsylvania Furnace, and Mrs. Allen (Barbara) Fultz, Milroy; a sister, Ruth E. Sellers, Thompsontown; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Glenn E. Keller and Kenneth Keller. He was a lifetime painter, early in life for Clayton Hartzler, Belleville, and later for Painters Union #8, and lastly for the Pennsylvania State University, State College, for 14 years before retiring in 1988. He was a member of the First Church of The Brethren, Lewistown. A graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Goodwill Cemetery, Bunkertown, with the Rev. Douglas D. Sherlock, Jr., officiating. There will be no viewing. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: First Church of the Brethren, 134 Shaw Ave., Lewistown, Pa 17044. Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Home, 75 Logan St., Lewistown, is in charge of arrangements.

Melvin Lee Keller
LEWISTOWN - Melvin Lee Keller, 69, of 14 Chestnut St., Lewistown, died at 2:45 p.m. Tuesday, April 3, 2001, at Lewistown Hospital. Born Aug. 12, 1931, in Dauphin County, he was the son of the late Cloyd and Elsie (Pressley) Keller. He is survived by children, Wendy Beaston and Bryan Keller, both of Philadelphia. He was preceded in death by one son, one brother, and one sister. He was a United States Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a member of VFW Post 7011, Lewistown, the American Legion Post 90, and the City, Hook and Ladder Fire Company. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Barr Funeral Home, 120 Logan St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Thomas Morningstar officiating. Interment will be in Indiantown Gap Cemetery, with graveside military services conducted by VFW Post 7011, Lewistown.

Walter Henry Keller
BELLEVILLE - Walter Henry Keller, 90, a resident of Valley View Haven, Belleville, formerly of West Township, Petersburg RR1, died at 12:50 a.m. Sunday, July 8, 2001, at Valley View. Born Aug. 19, 1910, in Huntingdon County, he was the son of the late Jesse W. and Pearl J. (Dixon) Keller. His wife, K. Elizabeth (Ramsey) Keller, whom he married Jan. 2, 1943, in Altoona, died Dec. 22, 1998. Surviving are: daughters, Anna J. Dunn, Duncansville and Mrs. A. Frank (Dorothy J.) Leister, McClure; and one granddaughter. He was preceded in death by a sister, Alma J. Rudy on Oct. 6, 1993. He was a farmer since the age of 16 and owned and operated the family dairy farm in Barree Township for over 60 years, retiring from full time farming in 1973. However, he continued to farm through the early 1980's. He was a member of the Mooresville United Methodist Church; was a Barree Township supervisor for over 50 years; and a former school board director of the Juniata Valley School District. He was a lifetime resident of Huntingdon County and an avid hunter. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Mooresville United Methodist Church, Petersburg RR1 (Route 305 at Mooresville), with Pastor Joleen Willis and Pastor Shirley J. Russell officiating. Interment will be in Mooresville Cemetery, Neffs Mills. Friends may call from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the Cutright-Speck Funeral Home, Juniata Valley Chapel, 412 Main St., Alexandria. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: the American Lung Association of Central Pennsylvania, 205 E. Beaver Ave, State College, PA 16801.

Brenda L. Kelley
THOMPSONTOWN - Brenda L. Kelley, 49, of Thompsontown, died at 4:15 p.m. Friday, at her home. Born Aug. 8, 1952, in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of Earnest D. and Esther (Smith) Sprow of Chambersburg. Her husband, Raymond M. "Butch" Kelley, survives. Also surviving are: a son, Kevin M. Kelley, Thompsontown; a brother, Gregory L. Sprow, Chambersburg, two sisters, Pamela R. Jamson, Chambersburg, and Kimberly K. Sprow, Ronan, Montana; and two grandchildren. She was a waitress at Stop 35 Restaurant, Mifflintown, for over 20 years. She was a member of Crossroads Church of God of Prophecy, East Salem, and Ney's Bowling Center's Monday night women's League and Wednesday night mixed league. Her funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Henry Funeral Home, Honey Grove, with the Rev. William Luckadoo officiating. Interment will be in East Waterford Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 p.m.-9 p.m. Sunday, at the funeral home, and from 7 p.m.-9 p.m. Sunday, with the family present. Kathleen J. Kelley
RICHFIELD - Kathleen J. Kelley, 82, a resident of the Zendt Nursing Home, Richfield, formerly of Lewistown, died at 9:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 2, 2001, at the Zendt Nursing Home. Born Oct. 3, 1918 in Glasgow, Cambria County. She was a daughter of the late John J. and Margaret (Hollen) Briggs. Her husband Clovis S. Kelley preceded her in death in 1981. Surviving are: children, Mrs. Charles (Bonnie K.) Longwell, Winchester, VA and Larry J. Kelley of Commodore; and two grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister. She was a homemaker and a member of the Pleasant Acres Assembly of God Church, Lewistown. Her funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Hoenstine Funeral Home, 75 Logan St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Harold N. Imes officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Rock Cemetery, Lewistown. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 26 N. Brown St., Lewistown, PA 17044.

Tiah E. Kelley
THOMPSONTOWN - Tiah E. Kelley, 2, of Thompsontown died at 6:25 p.m. Saturday, April 21, 2001, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. Born March 7, 1999, in Derry Township, Mifflin County, she was a daughter of Phillip D. and Melissa L. (Walton) Kelley of Thompsontown. Also surviving are: a sister and a brother, Shana M. Kelley and Phillip Madison Kelley, both at home; maternal grandparents, Jerry and Irene (DePriest) Walton, Thompsontown and Dervin and Alice (Stong) Kelley, Mifflintown RR1; and maternal great-grandmother, Minnie Walton, Mifflintown. A graveside service and interment will be held beginning at 1 p.m. Wednesday at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, Nook, with Pastor Barbara Inch officiating. A closed-casket visitation will be held 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Brown Funeral Home, 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 26 N. Brown St., Lewistown, PA 17044.

Dorothy R. Kephart
SAN PABLO, CA - Dorothy R. Kephart, 91, of San Pablo, CA, formerly of Port Royal, died at 6:30 a.m. Monday, July 30, 2001, at Vale Healthcare, San Pablo, CA. Born March 10, 1910, Turbett Township, Juniata County, she was the daughter of the late William Harvey and Seola Gertrude (Hench) Fulton. Her husband, Gordon James Kephart, died Aug. 14, 1990. She is survived by a daughter, Judith Gertrude Kephart, Richmond, CA. She was the last of her immediate family, having been preceded in death by four sisters, C. Josephine Keeley, Mary Johnson, Gertrude Johnson and Mildred Gebhart. She was a retired teacher and taught in the high schools of Clearfield, Centre and Juniata counties. She was the assistant principal of the Tuscarora Valley High School until its consolidation with the Mifflintown schools. She was a published author of poetry and essays and assisted in compiling genealogical information for a number of family histories. She and her late husband compiled the history of the Old Church Hill Cemetery, Port Royal. She was a member of the Port Royal Lutheran Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher for many years and had served on the church council. She was also a member of the General Thomas Mifflin Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Juniata County Historical Society and the Mifflin Chapter 260 Order of the Eastern Star. Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the New Church Hill Cemetery, Port Royal, with the Rev. Marton J. Roberson officiating. There will be no viewing. Memorial contributions may be made to: the Port Royal Lutheran Church, PO Box 267, Port Royal, PA 17082-0267. The Rex Funeral Home, Port Royal, is in charge of arrangements.
