Lloyd E. King
REEDSVILLE - Lloyd E. King, 72, of 42 East Railroad St., Reedsville, died at 2:07 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2001, at the Lewistown Hospital emergency room. Born April 30, 1929, in Reedsville, he was the son of the late Sherman Elwood and Isabel M. (Henry) King. His wife, Dona A. (Deeg) King, preceded him in death on July 5, 1996. Surviving are: children, Ruth Evans Fultz, Bellefonte, Wade E. King Sr., Reedsville, Ronald L. King, Lexington, NE, Lloyd A. King, Reedsville, and Laura E. Squirrell, New Haven, CT; brother and sisters, Theodore L. King, Reedsville, Irma J. King, Reedsville, and Mrs. Albert (Carol) Stull, Spring Mills; 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was a 1947 graduate of Reedsville High School. He served with the U.S. Air Force National Guard during the Korean Conflict. He was a retired welder from New Holland with over 30 years of service. He attended Reedsville United Methodist Church. His memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, at the Reedsville United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Richard J. Bender officiating. There will be no public viewing, however, friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Thursday, at Bohn Funeral Home, Reedsville. Memorials may be made to: Meals on Wheels, P.O. Box 117, Reedsville, PA 17084.

Max W. King
MOUNT JOY - Max W. King, 81, of l080 Donegal Springs Road, Mount Joy, died Wednesday morning, April 25, 2001, at Lancaster Regional Hospital, Lancaster, after a lengthy illness. Born Dec. 19, 1919, in Reedsville, Mifflin County, he was the son of the late Freeman R. and Annabelle (Tressler) King. His wife of 59 years, Helen (Baker) King, survives. Also surviving are: a daughter, Marcia Brandt, Elizabethtown; two sisters, Mrs. Kenneth (Letha Belle) Hershey, New Providence and Mrs. Ralph G. (Ethel L.) Secrest, Manheim; two grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Milton R. King and Harry G. King, and a sister, Alice Marie Taylor. He was a United States Army veteran of both World War II and the Korean Conflict, serving a total of 11 years of active duty. He was involved in the demobilization of the European troops, and later re-enlisted during the Korean Conflict. A barber, he retired from the Sandy Frittelli Barber Shop of Hershey in 1984, after 17 years of employment. Prior to that time, he worked for the Civil Service as a jet engine mechanic at the former Olmstead Airforce Base, Middletown, until its closing and as a blacksmith and farrier in Reedsville, Mifflin County and Brunnerville, Lebanon County. He was a member of Glossbrenner United Methodist Church and the Cross Roads Brethren in Christ Church, both of Mount Joy. He was a member of the Abram C. Triechler Masonic Lodge 682, Elizabethtown; the Lancaster Lodge of Perfection; was a 32nd degree, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Harrisburg; the Fred Barley VFW Post 5667, Elizabethtown; the Dauphin County Anglers; and the Conservationist Association. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, golf and gardening. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Sheetz Funeral Home Inc., l6 E. Main St., Mount Joy, with the Rev. Kenneth H. O'Neal and the Rev. Louis Cober officiating. Interment will be in the Camp Hill Cemetery, Mount Joy. Friends may call 10 a.m. until the time of the service Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: the Glossbrenner United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 713 Church Streets, Mount Joy, PA 17552.

Roxie I. Murphy Kitting
MCALISTERVILLE - Roxie I. Murphy Kitting, 72, of McAlisterville, formerly of Mifflintown, died at 8:22 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2001, at Lewistown Hospital. Born March 23, 1928, in Mifflintown, she was the daughter of the late Leonard Richard and Esther (Wagner) Wise. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Ralph David Murphy and her second husband, Carl David Kitting. Surviving are: children, Norene Baughman, Mifflintown RR1, Kathryn L. Leach, Mifflin, Carl Anthony Kitting, Mifflintown, and Stacy A. Kitting, McAlisterville; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Debra Ann Murphy Baker; an infant son, Jerry Lee Kitting; and three sisters. She worked as a nurse's aide, retiring from Brookline Manor in 1992 due to poor health. Services will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at the Guss Funeral Home, 20 S. Third St., Mifflintown, with the Rev. Douglas Kelley officiating. Interment will be at the convenience of the family in East Waterford Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 p.m. until the time of the services Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Asthma Research, American Lung Association, 6041 Linglestown Road, Harrisburg, PA 17112.

Della B. Klein
LEWISTOWN - Della B. Klein, 81, of 304 Terrace Boulevard, Lewistown, died at 4:17 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2001, at Lewistown Hospital. Born April 19, 1919, in Pemberton, Blair County, she was the daughter of the late Alvin Rex and Hattie (Stewart) Linn. Her husband, Carl J. Klein, died Sept. 19, 2000. Surviving are: children, Mrs. Herbert (Mona) Bailey, Columbus, Ohio, Donna Rizan, Lima, Ohio, Ronald Martin, Baltimore, Md. and Mrs. Barry (Linda) Shade, Sofia, Bulgaria; 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. She was the last of her immediate family, having been preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters. She was employed by the American Viscose Corporation for 31 years, retiring in 1975. She was a member of the Lewistown Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, Juniata Terrace and the Christian Women. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Lewistown CMA Church, Juniata Terrace, with the Rev. John Looney officiating. Private interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park. Friends may call 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Friday at the Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown and from noon until the time of the service Saturday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to: Lewistown Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, 50 Hudson Ave., Lewistown, PA 17044.

Eugene R. Kline
BETHLEHEM - Eugene Russell Kline, 70, of Bethlehem, died Saturday, June 30, 2001, at his home. Born April 26, 1931, in Lewistown, he was the son of the late Russell E. and Pauline (Knepp) Kline. His wife, Anne E. (Rogan) Kline, whom he married in August of 1955, survives. Also surviving are: children, Timothy R. Kline, Easton and Mrs. Walter C. (Betsy Anne) Keiper Jr., Bethlehem; and one grandson. He served as an infantry lieutenant in the US Army from 1953-1955. He graduated from Gettysburg College in 1953 with a Bachelors Degree in Psychology. He then entered the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School and received an MBA Degree in 1957. In 1973, he graduated from Harvard University's Program for Management Development. In May 2001, he received an Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters Degree from DeSales University. He was vice president of public affairs at Bethlehem Steel Corporation, retiring in 1984 after 27 years of service and was director of business development and consultant to the Lehigh Valley-based construction management firm Alvin H. Butz Inc., from 1986-2001. In 1985, he was executive director of University Relations for The Pennsylvania State University at University Park. He was a member of The Church of the Assumption BVM, serving as lector and member of its Finance Council. He was a trustee of St. Luke's Hospital, Gettysburg College and, for 21 years, Allentown College of St. Francis de Sales, now DeSales University. He was also a director or board member of numerous civic organizations, including: Historic Bethlehem Inc., Historic Bethlehem Partnership Inc., Bethlehem's 250th Anniversary Committee, Bethlehem Economic Development Corporation, United Way of Lehigh County, Industrial Development Corporation of Lehigh County, and Family Counseling Service of Northampton County. He was a co-founder and president of Valley Youth House Inc.; chairman of Orchid Valley VICA Industry Council; active as a volunteer fund-raiser and also chaired Allentown College's 1978-79 Annual Fund Campaign, Major Gifts Division of St. Luke's Horizons Capital Campaign, and the Business Division of the Wildlands Conservancy's Capital Campaign; was a member of the steering committee for Historic Bethlehem's Partnership's "Window on Main Street" Capital Campaign; was instrumental in the formation of the real estate awards committee annual fundraising breakfast program for the March of Dimes. Professionally, he was chairman of the public relations committee of the American Iron and Steel Institute, vice chairman of the Public Affairs Council, Washington, DC and co-chairman of The Conference Board's Public Affairs Research Council, New York City. Mass will be held at 11 a.m. today at The Church of the Assumption BVM, 4121 Old Bethlehem Pike, Colesville. Memorial contributions may be made to: DeSales University, 2755 Station Ave, Center Valley, PA 18032 or to The Church of the Assumption BVM, 4121 Old Bethlehem Pike, Colesville, PA 18015. The John F. Herron Funeral Home, 458 Center St., Bethlehem, is in charge of arrangements.

Jacob L. Kline
LEWISTOWN - Jacob L. Kline, 58, of 417 Hawstone Rd., Lewistown died at 5:43 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 22, 2001, at Lewistown Hospital. Born May 7, 1943, in Mifflin County, he was the son of the late Kenneth H. and Anna R. (Traxler) Kline. His wife, Betty J. "Liz" (Dunn) Kline, whom he married Dec. 31, 1964, survives. Also surviving are: children, Jacob L. Kline, Hawstone and Cathy M. Kline, at home; a sister, Jean Ann Snook, New Freedom; and two grandchildren. He was proceeded in death by a brother, Kenneth Kline. Early in life he worked for Jack Steele and then Sitkins, Hoffman Lumber Supply and Overhead Door Corp. He retired in 1992. He attended Lewistown CMA Church. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Church Hill Cemetery, Reedsville, with his uncle, Rev. Jacob T. Traxler, officiating. There will be no viewing. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Salvation Army, 9 S. Dorcas St., Lewistown, PA 17044.

Virginia M. 'Ginny' Klinepeter
BEAVER SPRINGS - Virginia M. "Ginny" Klinepeter, 77, of Beaver Springs, passed away at 12:56 p.m. Aug. 28, 2001, at Geisinger Medical Center. She had been in ill health for the past three years. She was born June 9, 1924, in Kane, a daughter of the late Earnest Alfred and Mildred Katherine (Courtney) Day. June 30, 1947, she married Clark D. Klinepeter, who survives. She was a member of Beaver Lutheran Church, Beaver Springs RR1. In 1989, she retired from the former Beaver Shoe Co., after 27 years as a personnel clerk. She had also worked for the former Davis Manufacturing. She was a member of the Beaver Springs Fire Co., Loyal Order of Moose, Chapter 1220, Middleburg, and the ladies auxiliary of the American Legion Post 942, McClure. She enjoyed her great-grandchildren, reading and shopping. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a stepmother, Hazel Betack, Millheim; four daughters and son-in-law, Linda E. McCool, Millheim, Sheridan A. "Pinky" Hagan, Atlas, Bonita L. Mattern and N. Teresa and Tom Hoffman, Beavertown; seven grandchildren, Natalie, David, Sharon, Randy, Anne, Nikki and Bobbi; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, and a half-sister. She was preceded in death by an infant grandson. A service of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, at Beaver Lutheran Church by the Rev. Charles A. Brophy. Interment will be in the Adamsburg Cemetery, Beaver Springs. Friends may call 4-9 p.m. Thursday at the Aurand Funeral Homes, 316 W. Market St., Beavertown, where the family will be present 7-9 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to either the SUN Home Health Care, Duke Street, Northumberland, PA 17857 or the Beaver Springs Fire Co., Beaver Springs, PA 17812.

Dorothy L. Klinger
MECHANICSBURG - Dorothy L. Klinger, 81, of Mechanicsburg, formerly of Lewistown, died at 1:20 a.m. Tuesday, July 17, 2001, at Manor Care, Carlisle. Born March 11, 1920, in Lewistown, she was the daughter of the late Hazen and Elinor (Hudson) Bingaman. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles K. Klinger. Surviving are: sons, Gary L. Klinger, Mechanicsburg and Kenneth E. Klinger, New Bloomfield; a sister, Gladys Hutchinson, Allentown; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Hazen Bingaman Jr. She was a graduate of Lewistown High School Class of 1937. She was a retired telephone operator at Lewistown Hospital. She was a member of First United Methodist Church Mechanicsburg, and the Mae Fetrow Sunday School Class. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Myers Funeral Home, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, with the Rev. Donald J. Ciampa officiating. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Juniata Memorial Park Cemetery, Lewistown. Friends may call 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to: the American Heart Association, 1019 Mumma Road, Suite 200, Wormleysburg, PA 17043 or to the First United Methodist Church, 135 West Simpson St., Mechanicsburg, PA 17055.
