Mary Etta Peachey
BELLEVILLE - Mary Etta Peachey, 88, of 109A Brookfarm Drive, Belleville, died at 11:15 p.m. Saturday, April 28, 2001, at Valley View Haven, Belleville. Born Sept. 27, 1912 in Huntingdon County, she was a daughter of the late John D. and Hulda M. (Wincer) Laird. Her husband Jacob E. Peachey died Jan. 8, 1973. She is survived by children, Mrs. James (Hilda) Roberts, Hendersonville, NC, Jacob D. Peachey, Dowelltown, Tenn. and Jonathan E. Peachey, 109 Brookfarm Drive, Belleville; brother and sisters, Alonza L. Laird, Zelda M. Baker, and Esther R. Laird, all of Mifflintown, and Betty J. George, Milroy; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four brothers and five sisters. Early in life, she was employed by the American Viscose Corporation and Standard Steel. She later worked as a clerk for Fergie's Market, Glenwood and the Hill Store, Belleville. She was a member of Watts Memorial United Methodist Church, Belleville. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Watts Memorial UMC, Belleville, with the Rev. Larry Siikanen officiating. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Milroy. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Heller-Hoenstine Burnham Funeral Home, 108 First Ave., Burnham and from 10 a.m. Wednesday until the time of the service at the church.

Moses D. Peachey
BELLEVILLE - Moses D. Peachey, 41, of 59 Cedar Lane, Belleville, died of natural causes at 8:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 12, 2001, at his residence. Born Aug. 2, 1959, in Belleville, he was the son of David N. and Lydia M. (Kanagy) Peachey of 59 Cedar Lane, Belleville. He is survived by sisters, Mrs. John K. (Hettie) Hostetler, Mrs. Rudy L. (Linda) Yoder, Mrs. Ivan J. (Katie) Byler, Mrs. Joseph (Gertie) Wengerd, Mrs. Noah A. (Bertha) Kanagy, and Hannah L. Peachey, all of Belleville, and Mrs. Emanuel K. (Mary) Peachey, Loganton. He was a member of the Old Order Amish. Services will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the Joseph Wengerd residence, with Bishop Shem O. Swarey and Bishop Louie D. Peachey officiating. Interment will be in Whitehall Amish Cemetery. Friends may call 2-8 p.m. today at the decedent's home at 59 Cedar Lane, Belleville. Bohn Funeral Home, Reedsville, is in charge of arrangements.

Grace L. Penepacker
SUNBURY - Grace L. Penepacker, 96, of 202 N. 11th St., Sunbury, died at 3:10 p.m. Saturday afternoon, OCt. 13, 2001, at the Geisinger Medical Center in Danville. Born July 6, 1905, in Yeagertown, she was the daughter of the late James and Jeanetta (Sellers) Markley. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles W. Penepacker in 1944. She is survived by one daughter, Lois A. Minnich and husband, Harold of Sunbury RR1; one grandson, Christopher L. Minnich and wife, Amy of Northumberland RR1; a great-grandson, Nathaniel L. Minnich; and one sister, Helen Crawford of Lewistown. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Bruce and Merle and one sister, Nellie Waggoner. She was a graduate of Yeagertown High School. She was formerly employed as a bookkeeper for J.C. Penney Company and Montgomery Ward Company in Sunbury. She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, Sunbury. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. Her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Apple Chapel of the Zion Lutheran Church, Sunbury, with the Rev. Richard L. Fangmann officiating. Interment will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Lewistown. Friends will be received 10 a.m. until the time of the service Tuesday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: the Greater Zion Fund of Zion Lutheran Church, Fifth and Market Streets, Sunbury, PA 17801. The Jerre Wirt Blank Funeral Home, 395 State St., Sunbury, is in charge of arrangements.

Nannie M. Penepacker
MILROY - Nannie M. Penepacker, 87, of 212 S. Main St., Milroy, died at 7 a.m. Tuesday, April 17, 2001, at her residence. Born April 18, 1913, in Mifflin County, she was the daughter of the late Foster M. and Julia L. (Riden) Heimbach. Her husband, Paul T. Penepacker, died May 22, 1985. She is survived by a son, Barry L. Penepacker, 420 Electric Ave., Lewistown; sister and brother, Julia M. Glasser, Ohesson Manor, Lewistown and Kenneth Heimbach, Beaver Springs; two grandchildren and one great-grandson; and two step-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers. She retired from Arrow Shirt Factory Division of Cluett Peabody, with over 32 years of service. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Charles W. McGaha officiating. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Milroy. There will be no viewing, but family will receive friends 10 a.m. until the time of the service Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice: The Bridge, 1126 W. Fourth St., Lewistown, PA 17044 or to the American Cancer Society, 26 N. Brown St., Lewistown, PA 17044.

Captain Jack R. Penfold
CLEMSON - Captain Jack R. Penfold, 84, USN (Retired), of 150 Downs Blvd. B111, Clemson, SC, died Sunday, Sept. 16, 2001, at Clemson Downs Healthcare Center. Born March 5, 1917, in Portland, Maine, he was the son of the late Ralph Briggs Penfold and June Lord Penfold. He is survived by his wife Betty Leitzel Marks Penfold; two sons, Richard R. Penfold of Crystal River, FL, Robert R. Penfold of Pensacola, FL, a daughter, Mrs. Donald (Eileen) Smith of Atlanta, GA; two stepdaughters, Mrs. W. Edward (Kay) Hastings of Savannah, GA, and Mrs. Ann Maxwell of Etters, PA. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, six step-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren. His first wife, Alice Powell Penfold, preceded him in death. Raised in South Paris, Maine, and active in Boy Scouts, in 1934, he and his boyhood chum, Ted Chandler, were made the first Eagle Scouts of South Paris, and Troop 130. He was a 1935 graduate of South Paris High School and a 1939 graduate of Springfield College, Springfield, Mass. After graduating from college he took a position with Standard Oil Company of New Jersey in New York City. In 1940, he joined the Navy, as a Seaman 2/C-V5 Program. He was commissioned an ensign and designated a Naval Aviator in 1941. During World War II, he served in the Southwest Pacific Theater as a Patrol Plane Commander in a Black Cat Squadron (VP-11). His squadron pioneered the active night bombing of Japanese shipping. Subsequent Naval duties included instructor of basic and advance flying, Jacksonville, FL; assistant flight training officer, staff of the Commander Naval Air Basic Training in Pensacola; Tour of Duty in the USS Midway, (CVB 41); and CNO OP 50, Washington, DC. He was then ordered to Commander of Naval Air Pacific, Serving in personnel planning. His next assignment was to Naval Post Graduate School (General Line), Monterey, CA. This was followed by a tour in Corpus Christi, TX in All-Weather Flight School, and a tour in Kingsville, TX as Officer in Charge of ATU-801, an advanced instrument squadron and a tour as maintenance officer. His next orders took him to Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (Shape) in Paris, France, where he served in the Naval Branch of the organization and training division. Subsequent duty as Commanding Officer of Fasron 102, Norfolk, VA. He was then ordered to the Joint Chiefs of Staff, in the Personnel Directorate, Washington, D.C. Next orders took him to Joint Services Staff College in Latimer, England. Upon graduation, he was ordered to the Staff of the Commander in Chief Northeast Atlantic and Mediterranean (Cincnelm) as Communications Officer. Returning to the States, his last assignment was to the Assistant Secretary of Defense (Manpower). Captain Penfold retired in 1965 after twenty-five years of Naval service. His decorations include four Distinguished Flying Crosses, Presidential Unit Citation, Asiatic-Pacific Medal with five Battle Stars, Joint Service Commendation Medal and other decorations. A former resident of Lewistown, he was a long time member of the Kiwanis Club. In 1984-85, he served as Governor of The Pennsylvania District of Kiwanis International. He had 25 years perfect attendance. He was a sixty year member of The Blue Lodge #94 of South Paris, ME, and over fifty year member of The Scottish Rite, Pensacola, FL, and of Zamora Temple, Birmingham, AL. He was a member of the Foster-Carrol American Legion Post #72 in South Paris, ME. He was a member of The First Congregational Church of South Paris, ME. Graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family in South Paris, ME. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to; the First Congregational Church, 17 E. Main St., South Paris, Maine 04281. Seneca Mortuary of Seneca, SC, is serving the family.

Mary A. 'Penny' Pennebaker
LEWISTOWN - Mary A. "Penny" Pennebaker, 72, of 202 Spring St., Lewistown, died at 2:28 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2001, at her home. Born Dec. 10, 1928, in Robertsdale, Huntingdon County, she was a daughter of the late Marshall M. and Rose (Phipps) Garlock. Her husband, Berdgene "Penny" Pennebaker, who she married Sept. 12, 1947, survives, residing at 202 Spring St., Lewistown. Also surviving are: children, Mrs. James (Barbara) Dempsey, McVeytown, Mrs. William (Joyce "Twigg") Brannan, Lewistown and Paul "Mike" Pennebaker, Lewistown, six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Thomas L. Pennebaker, on June 2, 1999, and also by a grandson. She was the last of the immediate family, having been preceded in death by a brother, Marshall E. Garlock. She was assistant manager at Super Shoes, Reedsville for 20 years, retiring in 1993. She was Presbyterian by faith. A Memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Hoenstine Funeral Home, 75 Logan St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Jacob T. Traxler officiating. Interment will be in Lind Memorial Cemetery, Lewistown. Family will receive friends from noon Saturday until time of the funeral service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: HOSPICE: the Bridge, 1126 West Fourth St., Lewistown, PA 17044.

Yvette Perez
ORLANDO, FL - Yvette Perez, 36, of Orlando, FL, died Friday Aug. 17, 2001, in Florida. Born March 25, 1965, in New York City, NY, she was the daughter of Luis Perez of New York and Ana A. Cortes of Florida. Surviving are: children, John Feliciano and Kristy Quiles, both of Orlando, FL; brother and sister, Luis Perez of Lewistown and Evelyn Casado of Orlando, FL. Private services were held at Mt. Rock Cemetery, Lewistown. The Barr Funeral Home, 120 Logan St., Lewistown, was in charge of arrangements.

Ralph R. Peters
TRENTON, NEW JERSEY - Ralph R. Peters, 49, of Trenton, NJ, died Thursday, Feb. 22, 2001 at the Capital Health System at Helene Fuld Hospital in New Jersey. Born Sept. 14, 1951 in Lewistown, he was a son of Helen (Peters) Rametti of West Virginia and the late Raymond Peters. His wife Christine (Cordes) Peters survives. Also surviving are: a son, Michael J. Peters, at home; brothers, Chad Peters, West Virginia, and Walt Peters, Lewistown. He was a United States Navy veteran of the Vietnam War. He worked for more than 20 years as a plastics and rubber extruder at the former Goodall Rubber Company, Trenton, NJ. His funeral service will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday at the Hartmann Funeral Home, 539 Centre St., Trenton, NJ, with the Rev. Leo Forsberg officiating. Private cremation will follow. Friends may call from 4 p.m. Sunday until the time of the service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 3076 Princeton Pike, Lawrence, NJ 08648.
