Duane Michael "Mike" Schilling Jr.
RENTON, WA - Duane Michael "Mike" Schilling Jr., 16, of Renton, WA, formerly of McClure, died at 6 p.m Tuesday, June 12, 2001, near his home in Renton, WA. Born Nov. 2, 1984, in Spokane, WA, he was a son of Duane Michael and Michelle Schilling of Renton, WA and Kim and Tammy (Seler) Brackbill of Mifflintown. Also surviving are: two sisters, Nicole Wright, Lewistown and Diana Schilling, Mifflintown; three brothers, Tyler Schilling, Jay Bishop and Jami Bishop, all of Mifflintown; maternal grandmother, Dolores Lepley, Oakland Mills; maternal great-grandparents, Ruth Haines, Oakland Mills, and Elmer and Hazel Seler, Troxelville. He was preceded in death by an infant half-brother, Robert Schilling; maternal grandfather, David Seler in 1996; and paternal grandparents, Charles and Dorothea Schilling. He attended Kentridge High School, Renton, WA and had just finished 10th grade. He had also attended West Snyder High School from 1995-2000. He was a member of Mount Bethel United Church of Christ, McClure. He enjoyed basketball, fishing, Legos, and tinkering around at home. He was loved for his sense of humor and was a Star Trek enthusiast. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at Mount Bethel United Church of Christ, McClure, with the Rev. Donald Wise officiating. Family will receive friends 10 a.m. until the time of the service Saturday at the church. The McClure chapel of Aurand Funeral Homes Inc. is in charge of local arrangements.

Richard W. Schilling Sr.
LEWISTOWN - Richard W. Schilling Sr., 55, of 63 Hawk Drive, Lewistown, died at 2 a.m. Friday, Oct. 19, 2001, at his residence. Born Jan. 22, 1946, in Harrisburg, he was reared by Walter S. Schilling and Dorothy E. (Kline) Kauffman, both of McClure. His wife, Mary Jo (Secrest) Schilling, whom he married April 22, 1989, survives. Also surviving are: children, Heather M. Schilling and Richard W. Schilling Jr., both of McClure, and Nicole E. Schilling Lamey, Millerton; stepchildren, Keith A. Snyder, Reedsville and Rebecca A. Snyder, Milroy; three grandchildren and one step-grandchild. He was a United States Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a retired United Methodist minister. He was a member of the American Legion Post 942, McClure, VFW Post 1964, Mifflinburg, the Disabled American Veterans, and the Lewistown Moose Lodge 143. A memorial service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Ronald J. Lynch officiating. Special service will be held by VFW Post 7011, Lewistown. Family will receive friends 6 p.m. until the time of the services Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Mifflin-Juniata American Cancer Society, 26 N. Brown St., Lewistown, PA 17044 or to the American Diabetes Association, 3544 N. Progress Ave., Suite 202, Harrisburg, PA 17110.

William E. 'Billy' Schleeter Jr.
YORK - William E. "Billy" Schleeter Jr., 60, of Springettsbury Township, York died at 11:57 p.m. Tuesday, May 15, 2001, at his residence. Born Nov. 10, 1940, in York, he was the son of the late William E. Sr. and Mary Ellen (Bluste) Schleeter. His wife, Cherie A. (Navin) Schleeter, survives. He is also survived by a sister, Virginia K. Deardorff, York; two stepsons, Dirk Railsback, Raymond, Ohio and Rex Railsback, Lonexa, Kan.; five step-grandchildren and one step-great-granddaughter. He was a graduate of Central York High School. He was a United States Army veteran. He was a senior technical representative with United Defense for 33 years. He visited over 44 countries during his career. He attended Kreutz Creek Presbyterian Church and was past president of Riverside Acres Property Owners' Association in McVeytown, Mifflin County. He was an avid model railroader, hunter, and fisherman. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Workinger Semmel Funeral Home and Crematorium Inc., 849 E. Market St., York, with the Rev. John W. Anderson officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Rose Cemetery. Friends may call 9 a.m. until the time of the service Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to: the American Cancer Society, 924-N Colonial Ave., York, PA 17403 or to the Building Fund of Kreutz Creek Presbyterian Church, PO Box 6126, Hellam, PA 17406.

Ruth Loretta Schlegel
PALMYRA - Ruth Loretta Schlegel, 86, of 1200 Grubb Road, Palmyra, formerly of Thompsontown, died Tuesday, April 24, 2001, at the Lebanon Valley Brethren Home, where she has been a resident since 1994. Born April 17, 1915, in Harrisburg, she was the daughter of the late John S. Buck and Eva Daniels. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerauld M. Schlegel. She is survived by children, Mrs. Robert (Loretta) Rittle of Indiana, Mrs. Craig (Deborah L.) Stuck of Winnsboro, SC, Merrill E. Schlegel of Downingtown, and Barry J. Schlegel of Bridgewater, NJ; a brother, Robert Buck of Gaithersburg, Md.; 10 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. She graduated from William Penn High School in 1933 and Lebanon Valley College in 1937. She taught music in East Juniata elementary schools and later taught English at East Juniata High School and at Greenwood High School in Millerstown. She was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Thompsontown, where she directed the youth and adult choirs for many years. She was know for her paintings in the Juniata area and was also an accomplished pianist and vocalist. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Thompsontown and the Retired Teachers Association. A memorial service will held at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 27, at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Thompsontown. There will be no viewing. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Lebanon Valley Brethren Home, c/o Good Samaritan Fund, 1200 Grubb Road, Palmyra, PA 17078 or to the Emmanuel Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, RR2, Box 165, Mifflintown, PA 17059. Taylor-Ruffner Funeral Home Inc., 712 Chestnut St. Lebanon, is in charge of arrangements.

Mildred M. Schmidt
MIFFLINTOWN - Mildred M. Schmidt, 84, of Manor Care Nursing Home, Camp Hill, formerly of Harrisburg, died Wednesday, March 7, 2001, at the nursing home. Born March 29, 1916, in Mifflintown, she was the daughter of the late William and Mabel (Wright) Switzer. Her husband, Max Schmidt, preceded her in death. Surviving are: a son, William H. Shillingsford of Harrisburg; brothers, Frank Switzer of Port Allegheny; Robert Switzer of Mifflintown; and Joseph Switzer of Newport; sisters, Ardith Yeisley of Mifflintown; Leone Potter of Mifflintown; Jane Street of Juniata County; Lois Harris of Walnut; Betty Carter of Mifflintown; Shirley Houtz of Chambersburg; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was the owner of the former Mildred's Beauty Shop in Harrisburg and a member of the Camp Hill United Methodist Church. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the David Myers Funeral Home, Newport. Interment will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Rolling Green Cemetery, Camp Hill. Memorial contributions may be made to Camp Hill United Methodist Church, 417 S. 22nd St., Camp Hill, PA 17011.

Shirley J. (Casner) Schonewolf
WEST CHESTER - Shirley J. (Casner) Schonewolf, 65, of West Chester, died Thursday, June 14, 2001, at the Del Ray Medical Center in Florida. Born Nov. 21, 1935 in McVeytown, she was the daughter of the late Cloyd and Ethel (McMurtrie) Casner. Her husband, Charles Schonewolf, survives. Also surviving are: two sons, Timothy E. Edgin of Glenmoore and John R. Viola of Coatesville; three sisters, Francis V. Henry of Burnham, Mrs. Raymond (Margretta) Crosson and Mrs. Herman (Clara) Barth, both of McVeytown, and one brother, Glenn E. Casner of McVeytown; and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one sister, Martha E. Kenepp and four brothers, David H. Casner, Carl L. Casner, Russell L. Casner and Charles R. Casner. She was a 1954 graduate of McVeytown-Oliver High School. She retired from Vishay International electronics plant. She was a member of the Grove United Methodist Church, West Chester and an active member of her community. She was an avid reader. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, at the Grove United Methodist Church, West Chester. Burial was at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: the Grove United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 490 West Boot Road, West Chester, PA 19382. Margaretta Schreiber
SHIRLEYSBURG - Margaretta Schreiber, 89, of Shirleysburg RR1 Box 18, died at 6 p.m. Sunday, May 27, 2001 at the Shirleysburg RR1 home of her daughter, Dorothy J. Spennati, where she had been residing for several years. Born March 1, 1912 in Jersey Shore, she was a daughter of the late Maynard and Kathryn (Reed) Smith. She was preceded in death by her first husband Edward W. Walker II. Her second husband V. Theodore Schreiber, whom she married Feb. 11, 1949 in Williamsport, preceded her in death on Nov. 12, 1986. Surviving are: children, Edward W. Walker III, Mount Union RR2, Dorothy J. Spennati, Shirleysburg RR1 and Paul R. Walker, West Palm Beach, FL; 11 grandchildren, six step-grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Kay E. Cummings, a son, Larry Smith, a brother, Robert F. Smith, and one grandchild. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Germany Valley Church of the Brethren and also a member of the Shirleysburg Heritage Association. She was the last charter member of the Huntingdon County Farm Women. Her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, Mount Union, with the Rev. Raymond Hill officiating. Interment will be in Germany Valley Cemetery. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. tonight and from 9 a.m. Wednesday until the time of the funeral service at the funeral home. Memorial contribution may be made to Hospice Home Nursing Agency, 900 Bryant St., Huntingdon, PA 16652.

Stuart S. Schuyler Jr.
MILROY - Stuart S. Schuyler Jr., 82, of 1184 New Lancaster Valley Road, Milroy, died at 6:10 p.m. Thursday, April 12, 2001 at Beverly Healthcare-William Penn, 163 Summit Drive, Lewistown. Born July 21, 1918 in Chicago, Ill., he was a son of the late Stuart S. and Elsie (Thompson) Schuyler. His wife, Evelyn (Deverell) Schuyler, whom he married July 25, 1937, survives. He was preceded in death by a son, Stuart Stanford Schuyler III, on Oct. 21, 1987. He worked as a law enforcement officer for 33 years before retiring in 1982. He was a United States Navy veteran of World War II. He was a Methodist by faith. He was a member of the Lewistown Lodge 203 F & AM and a 50-year member of Keystone Lodge F & AM, Linnwood, NJ. He served on the Northfield City Council from 1962 to 1972 and was president of the council two of those years. He was also very active in the National Rifle Association. A graveside funeral service and interment will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Birmingham LaFayette Cemetery, West Chester, with the Rev. Lauren Meiswinkle officiating. Friends may call 7-8 p.m. Monday at Heller Hoenstine Burnham Funeral Home, 108 First Ave., Burnham, where Masonic services will be held at 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
