Marjorie S. Henry
EAST WATERFORD - Marjorie S. Henry, 78, of East Waterford RR1 (Waterloo), died Monday, April 10, 2000, at the home of her daughter, Paula Lauver, Omaha, Neb.

Born Aug. 28, 1921, in Concord, Franklin County, she was a daughter of the late L. Bruce and Mary M. (McMullen) Shearer. Her husband, Robert B. Henry, whom she married in 1946, died Feb. 5, 1989.

Surviving are: children, James R. Henry, Port St. James, Fla., Andrea S. Boley, Palm Bay, Fla., Paula J. Lauver, Omaha, Neb., and Jill K. Paczkowski, Waterloo, Iowa; sisters and brothers, Louise Shoop, Port Royal, Miriam Love, East Waterford, Clair Shearer, York, Lois Wert, Chambersburg, and Darwin Shearer, East Waterford; and four grandchildren.

She was a 1939 graduate of Fannett Township High School.

She was a homemaker.

She was a lifelong member of East Waterford Presbyterian Church and the Pennsylvania Grange.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at East Waterford Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Frank Muse officiating. Interment will be in East Waterford Cemetery.

Family will receive friends from 10 a.m until the time of services Friday at the church.

Henry Funeral Home, Honey Grove, is in charge of local arrangements and Heafey-Heafey-Hoffman-Dworak & Cutler Funeral Home, Omaha, Neb. was in charge of out-of-town arrangements.

Rev. Milton C. Henry
LEWISTOWN - The Rev. Milton C. Henry, 67, of 511 Third St., Pleasant Acres, Lewistown, died at 1 p.m. Sunday, July 4, 1999, at his residence.

Born May 2, 1932, in Lewistown, he was a son of Catherine E. (McClellan) Henry of Beverly Healthcare-William Penn Nursing Home, Lewistown, and the late Wilson J. Henry Sr. His wife, Etta M. (Baker) Henry, whom he married Oct. 14, 1950, survives.

Also surviving are: children, Vicky L. Erceg, Reedsville, and James D. Henry, Mount Joy; brother and sisters, Richard R. Henry, Joyce H. Yocum and Freda F. Henry, all of Lewistown; two grandsons and one great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Wilson J. Henry Jr., and a sister, Kathleen Guyer.

He was a veteran of the United States Army Second Infantry Division and served in the Korean Conflict.

Early in life he was employed for 21 years at the maintenance department of Standard Steel, Burnham. He later served 18 1/2 years as an evangelist for the Eastern District Christian and Missionary Alliance Church. He was a member of Paintersville Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, Lewistown RR3.

At the time of his death, he was serving as pastor at Wayside Bible Church, Middleburg.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Paintersville Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, with the Rev. Jerry Wise officiating. Interment will be in Paintersville Christian and Missionary Alliance Cemetery.

Friends may call from 6-9 p.m. today at Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown.

Bessie Marie Herbster
LEWISTOWN - Bessie Marie Herbster, 94, a resident of Ohesson Manor Nursing Home, formerly of North Grand Street, Lewistown, died at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, May 22, 1999, at the nursing home.

Born June 1, 1904, in Madera, she was the daughter of the late Harry B. and Pearl (Shoff) Brown. Her husband, Alton "Herb" Herbster, died in 1982.

Surviving are: daughters, Mary Lou Snyder, Lewistown and Mrs. George (Betty) Benson, Newark, Del.; sisters, Gladys Walsh, Tucson, Ariz. and Hazel DiPenti, Willoughby, Ohio; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Richard Herbster in 1985; five brothers; and three sisters.

She was a supervisor in the Processing Department of the American Viscose Corporation, retiring in 1955.

She was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lewistown and the Ich Dien Bible class of the church.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Gerald A. Krum officiating. Private interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park.

Friends may call from 1 p.m. until the time of the services Tuesday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Third Street, Lewistown, PA 17044.

Glenn L. Herbster
LEWISTOWN - Glenn L. Herbster, 84, a resident of Beverly Healthcare-William Penn, Lewistown, formerly of 234 W. Fifth St., Lewistown, died at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, May 8, 1999, at the nursing home.

Born March 12, 1915, in Lewistown, he was the son of the late Mary Ann Rothrock. His wife, Lillian (Spickler) Herbster of New York City, NY, survives.

Also surviving are: sons, Robert Herbster, East Stroudsburg and Leonard Herbster, Ephrata; and three grandchildren.

He was a U.S. Army veteran,, having served in the Pacific Theatre during World War II. He was awarded the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart.

He was a building manager in New York City for more than 20 years, retiring in 1985.

He was a member of the Mifflinburg Moose Lodge, the American Legion Post 1029, and the Brooklyn Hose Co.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 31, at the Raystown Dam Dogwood Pavilion. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.

There will be no public viewing.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Hoenstine Funeral Home Inc., 75 Logan St., Lewistown, is in charge of arrangements.

James V. Herman
BEAVERTOWN - James V. Herman, 48, of Beavertown RR1, died of natural causes at 10 a.m. Monday, April 17, 2000, at his home.

Born Nov. 2, 1951, in Adams Township, he was a son of Betty (Moyer) Herman and the late Charles L. Herman. His wife, Irene M. (Benner) Herman, whom he married Nov. 7, 1970, survives.

Also surviving are: children, Mrs. Mike (Lisa S.) Schrader, Beavertown RR1, Mrs. Vince (Jennifer M.) Womer, Middleburg RR4, and Vincent C. Herman, at home; sister and brothers, Mrs. Barry (Shirley) Hackenburg, Middleburg RR1, Charles L. Herman, Middleburg RR2, and Nelson Swartz, Milton; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Emily Schrader, in 1996.

He was employed as a cabinet setter and lead man at Ritz-Craft Homes, Mifflinburg, for 31 years.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Beavertown chapel of Aurand Funeral Homes Inc., 316 W. Market St., Beavertown, with the Rev. Roger Womer officiating. Interment will be in St. Peter's Independent Church Cemetery, Beavertown RR1.

Friends may call from 4-9 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel, where family will be present from 7-9 p.m.

Leslie M. Hess
WAYNESBORO - Leslie M. Hess, 88, of 143 W. King St., Waynesboro, died at 10:30 p.m., Friday, Oct. 8, 1999, in Menno Haven, Chambersburg.

Born March 13, 1911, in Quincy Township, Franklin County, he was the son of the late William T. and Ida (Benedict) Hess. His wife, Margaret (Schroyer) Hess, whom he married June 13, 1937 in the First United Methodist Church, Lewistown, survives.

Also surviving are: children, Jane Hess Flanders, Pelham, N.Y., John A. Hess, Weston, Conn., and William L. Hess, Abilene, Texas; brother, Samuel Benedict Hess, Chambersburg; seven grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by five sisters and one brother.

He attended Pigeon Hill School and graduated from Chambersburg High School in l928. In 1934, he graduated from Shippensburg State Teachers College with a degree in science and mathematics.

He was employed in the order department of Landis Machine Company, now known as Landis Threading Systems, Waynesboro. He remained with the company for his entire career, becoming treasurers, vice-president, and eventually president.

He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, Waynesboro, where he served on the Board of Trustees and the Administrative Board and was a member of the Men's Bible Class He was a director of First National Bank and Trust Company, Waynesboro for 36 years. He served on many local boards including schools, hospital, and the United Way. He was also a member of B.P.O. Elks Lodge 731, Waynesboro, the Waynesboro Fish and Game Association, the Waynesboro Historical Society, the Kittochtinny Historical Society, Chambersburg, the South Chapter 2977 AARP,Waynesboro, and the National AARP. He was a former member of the Waynesboro Country Club.

He was an accomplished furniture-maker and gardener.

Services will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday at the Christ United Methodist, Waynesboro, with Rev. Dr. Jay Zimmerman officiating. Interment will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.

Family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. today at the Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro.

Lois R. Hesser
MCVEYTOWN - Lois R. Hesser, 74, of Blue Mountain Lane, McVeytown, died at 8:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 13, 2000, at her home.

Born Oct. 17, 1925, in Bratton Township, she was a daughter of the late Charles E. and Annie (Kauffman) Hesser.

Surviving are: two brothers, Melvin L. Hesser Sr., McVeytown and Robert B. Hesser, Mattawana; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Edward E. Hesser Sr., Norman C. Hesser and Carl D. Hesser.

She was employed many years at Gates' Clover Farm Store and Post Office in Mattawana, of which she later became a partial owner. She retired in 1989 from Valley View Retirement Community, Belleville, where she worked as a nursing assistant.

She was a member of the McVeytown Presbyterian Church and the Builders Sunday School Class. She was also one of the last surviving members and officer of the Thimble Club, a ladies social group.

She enjoyed traveling, cooking, baking and flower gardening and was known for her African violets.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Harshbarger Funeral Home, 3 S. Market St., McVeytown, with the Rev. Jeanette Rapp officiating. Interment will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Mattawana.

Family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until the time of the services Wednesday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: the Memorial Fund of McVeytown Presbyterian Church, PO Box 323, McVeytown, PA 17051.

Isaac Hamilton Hetrick
MIDLOTHIAN, Texas - Isaac Hamilton Hetrick, 51, of Midlothian, Texas, died at 2:12 a.m. Friday, April 21, 2000, in the Medical Center of Arlington.

Born Dec. 23, 1948, in Lewistown, he was a son of Bertrude Irvin and Ethel Virginia Hetrick of Belleville. His wife, Sara Louise (Hassinger) Hetrick, whom he married Aug. 13, 1991, in Mansfield, Texas, survives.

Also surviving are: brothers and sisters, Jerry Hetrick and Mrs. Wayne (Wanda) Manbeck, both of Venus, Texas, Blair Hetrick, Burnham, and Mrs. Larry (Clarissa) Haney, Flanders, N.J.; a stepdaughter, Jeanette Harrison, Midlothian, Texas; and two grandsons.

He graduated from Kishacoquillas High School and the Kodak School of Photography

He worked for Lear Corporation of Arlington and was a former employee of the County Observer.

Services were held privately for the family at Blessing Funeral Home, 401 Elm St., Mansfield, Texas.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date at Greenwood State Park.
