Elsie Heikes Rodgers
READING - Elsie Heikes Rodgers, 97, a resident of Berks Heim County Home, Reading, formerly of Wernersville, died Monday, May 10, 1999, at the home.

Born Dec. 10, 1901, in Burnham, she was a daughter of the late Albert and Minnie (Forney) Heikes. Her husband, P. Richard Rodgers Sr., preceded her in death.

Surviving are: a son, Paul R. Rodgers, Chambersburg; two granddaughters; and one great-grandchild.

She attended Christian Choral School, where she received a master's degree in music. She was a graduate of Wilson College and she also attended Northwestern University and the State Teachers College for Music Education.

She was a retired music teacher and taught in the Lewistown public schools for many years.

She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Lewistown, where she had been the church organist and the music teacher.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Juniata Memorial Park, with the Rev. Gerald A. Krum officiating.

Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. today at Rothermel Funeral Home Inc., 25 W. Pine St., Palmyra.

Patricia A. Rome
LEWISTOWN - Patricia A. Rome, 59, of 407 Electric Ave., Lewistown, died at 6:05 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 12, 1999, at her home.

Born Dec. 24, 1939, in Granville Township, she was a daughter of Lillian G. (Conner) Cavanaugh of Rothrock Apartments, McVeytown, and the late Joseph Cavanaugh. Her husband, Richard C. Rome, whom she married July 3, 1982, survives.

Also surviving are: children, Mrs. William (Kimbra) Napikoski, 51 Old Route 22, Lewistown, and Karina D. Shearer, 489 Riverview Lane, Lewistown; stepchildren, Eric C. Rome, Pittsburgh, Richard A. Rome, Kittaning, and Mrs. Victor (Michele) St. Vincent, Newville; brothers and sisters, George F. Cavanaugh and Ray A. Cavanaugh, both of Lewistown, Mrs. Charles (Eva) Forgy, Newton Hamilton, Donald B. Cavanaugh, McVeytown, and F. Kay Kenepp, Downingtown; and 16 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Marvin A. Cavanaugh.

She graduated from Bratton/McVeytown/Oliver High School in 1957.

Before retiring on disability, she was employed for five years at Irvings Shoes in Harrisburg and at Glick Shoes in Lewistown prior to that.

She was a member of Bible Baptist Church, Burnham.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Bible Baptist Church, 101 N. Beech St., Burnham, with the Rev. John S. Walters officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park.

Family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. today at Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown.

Albert J. Romig
LEWISTOWN - Albert J. Romig, 95, a resident of Ohesson Manor, Lewistown, formerly of McClure RR1, died at 7:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 9, 1999, at the manor. Born March 8, 1904, in Decatur Township, Mifflin County, he was the son of the late Reuben and Amanda (Rager) Romig. His wife, Faye I. (Wagner) Romig, whom he married Sept. 9, 1945, survives.

He is also survived by a sister, Dorothy Romig, McClure RR1.

He was preceded in death by sisters and brothers, Lottie Shawver, Minnie Wagner, Effie Bowersox, Katie Pheasant, Hurley Romig, and Calvin Romig.

He retired in 1985 from Bickel's Sawmill, where he had been a planer for many years. He also sharpened saws and enjoyed woodworking.

He was a member of Samuels UCC Church, McClure RR1.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the McClure chapel of Aurand Funeral Homes, Inc., North Brown Street, McClure, with the Rev. Donald Wise officiating. Interment will be in the Samuel's Church Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home and the family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m.

Elsie L.Romig
BELLEVILLE - Elsie L. Romig,69, 266 Walnut Street, Belleville,died at 4:28 p.m. Friday, January 7 at Lewistown Hospital.

Born March 2, 1930, in Yeagertown, she was the daughter of the late Franklin A. Blair and E. Madalene (Frank) Blair of Beverly Healthcare William Penn.

She is survived by husband Robert W. Romig, to whom she was married on April 20,1951. Also surviving are three children: Melanie S. Romig of State College, Melissa K. Hinson of Willow Springs, N.C., and Robert W. Romig III of State College, and brother F. Arthur Blair of Mechanicsburg. She had four granchildren.

She graduated Geisinger Memorial School of Nursing as an R.N. in 1950. In her early life, she was employed as a R.N. at Lewistown Hospital.

She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church of Belleville.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. John's Lutheran Church, 3597 W. Main Street, Belleville with the Rev. Lois D. Martin officiating.

Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park. there will be no viewing, however, family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. Weds. until the time of service.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church of Belleville.

Heller-Helenstein Burnham Funeral Home, 108 1st Avenue Burnham is in charge of arrangements.

Emma Arlene Stringfellow Ronk
LEWISTOWN - Emma Arlene Stringfellow Ronk, 71, of 6 Sunflower Lane, North Hills Trailer Court, Lewistown, died at 6:45 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 7, 1999, at the Brookline Manor Nursing Home, Mifflintown.

Born June 17, 1928, in Milroy, she was the daughter of the late Albert C. and Mary Jane (Crimmel) Wagner.

She is survived by children, Barbara Jean Stringfellow and Mrs. William (Glenda) Silks Jr., both of 440 W. Fourth St., Lewistown and Richard K. Stringfellow Jr. of 24 Feeder Ave., Lewistown; sisters and brother, Mrs. Palmer (Rosie) Barner, Enola, Mrs. John (Martha) Aultz, Strodes Mills, and Joseph L. Wagner, Lewisburg; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Bible Baptist Church, Burnham.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Bible Baptist Church, 101 N. Beech St., Burnham, with the Rev. John S. Walters officiating. Interment will be in Union Memorial Gardens, Mifflintown.

There will be no public viewing.

Garth G. Rorer
BELLEVILLE - Garth G. Rorer, 69, of 600 Erie Drive, Belleville, formerly of Chambersburg and Mount Union, died at 11:01 p.m. Saturday, May 15, 1999, at the Hershey Medical Center.

Born July 20, 1929, in Shirley Township, Huntingdon County, he was the son of the late John H. and Maude (Harper) Rorer. His wife, Jane R. (Rosenbery) Rorer, whom he married June 12, 1954 at Allenport Methodist Church, survives.

Also surviving are: a sister, Mary Kathryn Drake, Mount Union RR2; five nieces and three nephews.

He was preceded in death by sisters and brother, Verna Hileman, Gladys Rorer, Carolyn Horne, and Frank Rorer, who was killed in action during World War II.

He was a 1948 graduate of Mount Union High School.

He was employed by Bethlehem Steel, Steelton, retiring in 1980.

He was a member of the Salem United Methodist Church in Chambersburg, the Mount Union Lodge 688 F&AM, and the Harrisburg Consistory AASR.

Private services will be held at the Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, Mount Union, with the Rev. James Herman officiating. Interment will be in the Rolling Green Cemetery, Camp Hill.

There will be no public viewing or visitation.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: the American Heart Association, PO Box 810, Huntingdon, PA 16652.

Mary B. Rose
REEDSVILLE - Mary B. Rose, 83, of 133 Shelly Drive, Reedsville, died at 9:10 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 26, 1999, at Beverly Healthcare-William Penn Nursing Home.

Born April 29, 1916, in Ickesburg, she was a daughter of the late Robert A. and Margaret A. (Dobbins) Sheaffer. Her husband, Guy M. Rose, whom she married Jan. 28, 1948, survives.

Also surviving are: children, Larry Lyons and Ada Jensen, both of Beech Lake, Pa., Charles Lyons, Tennessee, Donna Treadway, Orange City, Fla., Sandra Long, Belleville, Robin Garza, Oregon, and Guy Michael Rose II, Huntingdon; a brother, Clyde Sheaffer, Ickesburg; 16 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by brothers and sister, Harvey L. Sheaffer, Robert Sheaffer, Frank Sheaffer, Wayne Sheaffer, Max Sheaffer and Verna Lash.

She had been a seamstress supervisor in Norfolk, Va.

She was a Methodist by faith.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Bohn Funeral Home, Reedsville, with the Rev. Michael Bailey officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park, Lewistown.

Family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

John R. Rosegay Roskey
LEWISTOWN - John R. Rosegay Roskey, 94, a resident of Beverly Healthcare-William Penn, formerly of 307 S. Grand St., Lewistown, died at 1:40 p.m. Sunday, May 23, 1999, at the nursing home.

Born June 4, 1904, in Bellefonte, he was the son of the late John M. and Rosalia (Proderbarac) Rosegay Roskey.

Surviving are: sisters, Annabelle Gutshall, Houston, Texas and Rose Chamberlain, 307 S. Grand St., Lewistown; and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters.

He was employed by Logan Iron & Steel, Letterman's Bakery, and Bob Davis Clothing Store for 23 years.

He was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Lewistown.

There will be a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, with the Rev. Father Thomas Marickovic officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park.

Friends may call from 9:30-10:15 a.m. Wednesday at the Hoenstine Funeral Home, Inc., 75 Logan St., Lewistown.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 106 N. Dorcas St., Lewistown, PA 17044.
