Virginia B. Wyland
MILLSBORO, Del. - Virginia B. Wyland, 75, of Millsboro, Del., formerly of Lewistown, died Saturday, July 10, 1999, in New Jersey.

Born Aug. 8, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Etta (Messimer) Landis. Her husband, Ralph Dean Wyland, died in 1996.

Surviving are children, William D. Wyland, New Carrollton, Md., Thomas E. Wyland, Lewistown, and Helen J. "Til" Tremper, Wall, N.J.; brothers and sisters, Robert Landis and Ferman Landis, both of Boiling Springs, Margaret Taylor, Mifflin, and Madeline Dowling, Port Royal; and four grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Landis.

A memorial service was held Monday, July 12, 1999, in Wall, N. J.

Johnson's Funeral Home, Wall, N. J., was in charge of arrangements.

Peter "Pete" Zarkovich
LEWISTOWN - Peter "Pete" Zarkovich, 82, of Beverly Healthcare-William Penn, Lewistown, formerly of Burnham, died at 9:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 21, 2000 at the home.

He was born June 1, 1917, in Green County, Pa., to the late Paul and Mary (Mechalich) Zarkovich. His wife, Elnora R. (Baker) Zarkovich, Mifflintown RR 4, whom he married

Sept. 14, 1940, survives.

Also surviving are, a daughter, Mrs. Warren H. (Shirley A.) Wray, Mifflintown, three sons, Paul D. Zarkovich, Lewistown, John E. Zarkovich, McAlisterville, and Gary L. Zarkovich, Yeagertown, two sisters, Mary Drozda, Burnham, and Kathryn Porpotage, Lewistown, eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Anna Swift and Eva Fiorentino.

He retired from the Robert Palm Contracting Company, Lewistown, and earlier in life he worked at the former Miller Sand Company, Burnham.

He was a Protestant by faith and enjoyed gardening, hunting, trapping and fishing.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 24, 2000 at the First Baptist Church, Route 35, Mifflintown, with the Rev. Roger R. Reece officiating.

Interment will be at Old Church Hill Cemetery, Port Royal RR 2.

Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Sunday at Beverly Healthcare-William Penn, 163 Summit Drive, Lewistown.

Memorial contributions can be made to Calvary Bible Church, 301 S. Pine St., Lewistown, Pa. 17044.

Brown Funeral Home, 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown, Pa., is in charge of the arrangements.

Larry F. Zeiders
REEDSVILLE - Larry F. Zeiders, 60, of 132 N. Main St., Reedsville, died at 2:40 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 21, 1999, at the Hershey Medical Center.

Born July 25, 1939, in Lewistown, he was the son of the late Clarence F. and Esther M. (Snook) Zeiders.

Surviving are: children, Holly J. Zeiders, Grantville and Terry L. Wealand, Hummelstown; sister and brothers, Mrs. David (Sandra) McNitt, and David A. Zeiders, both of Reedsville, and Paul E. Zeiders, Yeagertown.

He was employed in machine shop 2 of Standard Steel, Burnham.

He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose 143, Lewistown, the Yeagertown Fire Co., the Brooklyn Fire Co., and the Junction Fire Co.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Bohn Funeral Home, 55 N. Main St., Reedsville, with the Rev. Dan J. Smith officiating. Interment will be in Black Oak Ridge Cemetery, McClure.

Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Chester J. Zeigler
WOOSTER, Ohio - Chester J. Zeigler, 83, of 1817 Cher Court, Wooster, and formerly of Orville, Ohio, died Tuesday, Oct. 5, 1999, at the Cleveland Clinic following a nine-month illness.

Born July 28, 1916, in Juniata County, he was a son of the late Norman W. and Cora (Wagner) Zeigler. His wife, Thelma (Hayden) Zeigler, whom he married on Feb. 21, 1942, survives.

Also surviving are: daughters, Mrs. Louie (Cindy) Bobolz of Townsend, Mont., and Mrs. George (Naomi) Davis of Frederick, Md.; sisters, Mae Beaver of Burnham and Mildred Kenawell of Duncansville; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Kenneth Zeigler and Ralph Zeigler.

He was a cabinet maker at the Schantz Organ Co. in Orrville, Ohio, for 18 years, retiring in 1982. Earlier in life he worked for Quality Castings Co. and Hubacher Builders.

He was a member of the Orrville Christian Church where he served as a deacon for 25 years.

He was a former member and past president of the Orville Lions Club and a member of the International Wood Collectors Society.

Services were held Friday at the Orrville Christian Church with the Rev. Tom Ledford officiating. Interment was in Crown Hill Cemetery, Orville.

The Auble Funeral Home, Orville, was in charge of arrangements.

Margaret K. 'Peg' Ziegler
MIFFLIN - Margaret K. "Peg" Ziegler, 92, a resident of Locust Grove Retirement Village, Mifflin, formerly of McAlisterville, died at 9:40 a.m. Sunday, April 4, 1999, at the village.

Born Aug. 15, 1906, in McAlisterville, she was the daughter of the late Melvin R. and Nora Elizabeth (Rennels) Knouse. Her husband, Preston R. "Pep" Ziegler, whom she married March 3, 1933, died June 4, 1995.

Surviving are: daughters, Norine Thomas and Rae Anna Brandt, both of McAlisterville; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by brothers and sister, Paul "Jake" Knouse, George Knouse, and Ruth K. Roush.

She was a 1925 graduate of Fayette High School, McAlisterville.

She was one of the first telephone operators in Juniata County, employed by United of Pennsylvania in McAlisterville. She retired from the East Juniata High School cafeteria, Cocolamus, where she worked as a cook during the 1950s and 1960s. She had also worked as a clerk in Carwell's Store, McAlisterville.

She was a member of the Lost Creek Presbyterian Church, McAlisterville for over 80 years. She was also a member of the Lewistown Hospital Auxiliary and along with her husband had been active in the Juniata County Retired Teachers Association.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Lost Creek Presbyterian Church, McAlisterville, with the Rev. James F. Cranston officiating. Interment will be in Lost Creek Presbyterian Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Ronald C. Sheaffer Funeral Home, 16 Westfall St., McAlisterville where family will be present from 7-9 p.m.

Elmer Dean 'Peanut' Zimmerman
GRANVILLE - Elmer Dean "Peanut" Zimmerman, 79, a resident of the Malta Home, Granville, formerly of Granville, died Saturday, April 10, 1999, at the home.

Born June 12, 1919, in Granville, he was the son of the late Harry Edward and Clara (Freed) Zimmerman. His first wife, Helen (Warfel) Zimmerman died in 1943. His second wife, Verna (Wagner) Zimmerman of 164 Valley St., Lewistown, whom he married Oct. 31, 1945, survives.

Also surviving are: children, Mrs. Grant (Linda) Clapper, Huntingdon, Murray Dean Zimmerman, Kenosha, Wis., Bonnie L. Zimmerman, McClure, Mrs. Donald (Clara) Gloss, Mifflintown, Helen Bishop, Mrs. Kenard (Connie) Varner, and Ruth Schutz, all of Lewistown; brother and sisters, Robert L. Zimmerman, Alexandria, Mrs. Donald "Jim" (Ruth) Renninger, Lewistown RR2, and his twin sister, Jean Kauffman, Belleville; 16 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, six brothers, and one sister.

He worked as a gardener for Masonic Homes in Elizabethtown, Capital Bedding in Harrisburg, and in the maintenance department of Harrisburg General Hospital.

He was a member of the Granville Brethren in Christ Church. He was also a member of the Lewistown Moose Lodge 143, Harrisburg Moose Lodge, Lewistown Elks Lodge 663, American Legion Post 90, and Junction Fire Co.

Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Hoenstine Funeral Home Inc., 75 Logan St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Gerald Peachey officiating. Interment will be in Pine Glen Church of the Brethren Cemetery.

Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Marian L. Zimmerman
YORK - Marian L. Zimmerman, 76, of 2400 Kingston Court, York, died at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 25, 2000, at York Hospital.

Born Aug. 31, 1923, in Lewistown, she was a daughter of the late Leroy F. and Grace (Shingler) Kling. Her husband, Gerald Ralph Zimmerman, died April 23, 1989.

Surviving are: a daughter, Marilyn I. Miller, Red Lion; a sister, Hazel Cunningham, York; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Gladys C. Hetrick, in 1990, and a brother, Leroy F. Kling, in 2000.

She was a 1941 graduate of Lewistown High School.

She had worked as a clerk at Joe the Motorist, Lewistown.

She was a member of Hayshire United Church of Christ, York.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Bohn Funeral Home, Reedsville, with the Rev. Dale Hippensteel officiating. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Milroy.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of services Saturday at the funeral home.

Marlin H. Zimmerman
PORT ROYAL - Marlin H. Zimmerman, 66, of Port Royal RR2, died at 8:40 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 16, 1999, at his home.

Born Nov. 23, 1932, in Milford Township, Juniata County, he was the son of the late Earl H. and Mae M. (Dunn) Zimmerman. His wife, Helen B. (Fultz) Zimmerman, whom he married April 9, 1954, survives.

Also surviving are: daughters, Yvonne S. Arnold, Port Royal, Terry D. Rhea, Mifflintown RR2, Renee M. Graybill, Port Royal RR1, and Darlene C. Leach, Thompsontown RR2; brothers and sisters, Arthur A. Zimmerman, Camp Hill, Glen L. Zimmerman, Esther Brackbill, Madilene Henry, and Coleen Junod, all of Mifflintown RR3; five grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Loretta K. Zimmerman on Aug. 7, 1954.

He was a 1952 graduate of Juniata Joint High School, Mifflintown.

He retired from the refrigeration department of Empire Kosher Inc., Mifflintown, after 20 years of service.

He was a member of the Port Royal Lutheran Church, Port Royal and a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge 925, Millerstown.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Port Royal Lutheran Church, 402 Market St., Port Royal, with the Rev. Marton Roberson officiating. Interment will be in the St. Stephens Lutheran Cemetery, Licking Creek.

Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Brown Funeral Home, 100 Bridge St, Mifflintown. There will be no viewing Wednesday at the church.
