Mary E. Howell
BELLEVILLE - Mary E. Howell, 94, of 512 Oliver Court, Belleville, formerly of Clarion and Huntingdon, died at 11:25 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 5, 2000, at Valley View Haven, Belleville. Born Sept. 16, 1906, in Belleville, she was the daughter of the late Millard Lee and Margaret Rebecca (Franks) Haffly. Her husband, Frank J. Howell, whom she married April 8, 1933, survives. Also surviving are: children, Frank N. Howell, Huntingdon and Mrs. Wayne (Patricia Ann) Fischer, Butler; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two grandchildren; two brothers, William Haffly and Floyd Haffly; and two sisters, Pearl Mateer and Alice Wagner. She was a 1925 graduate of Belleville High School. She was a homemaker and prior to marriage, she worked as a Linotype operator at the Belleville Times. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Belleville. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Belleville, with the Rev. Lois Martin officiating. Interment will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the Donald E. Baggus Funeral Home, 3813 W. Main St., Belleville. Memorial contributions may be made to: the American Heart Association, Mifflin County Division, 501 Howard Ave., Building D-101, Altoona, PA 16601.

Sister Mary Ignacita
READING - Sister Mary Ignacita, 82, of the Bernardine Sisters Convent, Third Order of Saint Francis, died at 10:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 28, 2000 at Saint Joseph's Villa, Mt. Alvernia, where she was a patient since May 25. Born Sept. 29, 1917 in Kittanning, she was a daughter of the late Blaise "Harry" and Mary (Bentley) Kozicki. Surviving are: brothers and sisters, Joseph Kozicki, El Cajon, Calif., John Kozicki, Osterburg, Sylvester Kozicki, Templeton, Edward Kozicki, Lewistown, Barbara Kozicki, Eleanor toy and Patricia Ebbitt, all of Kittanning, Helen Diller, New Castle and Kathleen Yocky, Eagle River, Ala. She was preceded in death by sisters and brothers, Rose Carnes, Bernice Hager, Theresa Radic, Josephine Palenski, Louis Kozicki and Adam Kozicki. She entered the Bernardine Order Sept. 8, 1934. She earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education from Villanova University, Villanova, Pa. She taught in Parochial Schools of the Bernardine Order in California, Texas, South Dakota, Michigan New Jersey and Pennsylvania for 66 years, before retiring in March 2000. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 3 p.m. Monday in the Sacred Heart Convent Chapel, Mt. Alvernia, Reading. Interment will be in the Bernardine Sisters Cemetery, Mt. Alvernia, Reading. Friends may call at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Sacred Heart Convent Chapel, Mt. Alvernia. Kopicki-Bradley Funeral Home, Inc., Reading is in charge of arrangements.

Dr. Harry G. Jacobs
YORK - Dr. Harry G. Jacobs, 76, 2020 Garnet Road, York and formerly of Beavertown and Shippensburg, died at 4:25 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 30, 2000, at the Manorcare Health Services, Kingston Court, York. Born Dec. 28, 1923, in East Waterford, he was a son of the late Kenneth J. and Helen M. (Cramer) Jacobs. His wife, Dorothy (Righter) Woomer Jacobs, whom he married Aug. 1965, survives. Also surviving are: a son, Robert R. Jacobs, York; two grandchildren; one step-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by two brothers. He was a United States Army veteran of World War II. He was a l941 graduate of Shippensburg High School and a 1949 graduate of Shippensburg University, where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Education. He received his master's degree and doctorate from the Pennsylvania State University. In 1955, he earned his principal's certificate and in 1967 he earned his supervising principal's certificate and superintendent's letter of eligibility. He began his career in education at the Shippensburg Area School District in 1949, serving there for 22 years in these capacities: business department instructor and chairman, high school assistant principal, high school principal, and K-12 curriculum director. He then served as acting superintendent of schools in the Everett Area School District. He was the retired superintendent of schools in the Big Spring School District, a position he held for seven years. Following his retirement, he served for several years on the Midd-West board of school directors in Snyder County. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, the Durff-Kuhn VFW Post 6168, the Oscar M. Hykes American Legion Post 223, the Cumberland Valley Lodge 315 Free and Accepted Masons, all of Shippensburg, and the Harrisburg Consistory. Private memorial services will be conducted at the convenience of the family and burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery, Shippensburg. Memorial contributions may be made to: Dr. Harry G. Jacobs memorial fund of Christ United Methodist Church, 47 East King St., Shippensburg, PA 17257 or to the Alzheimer's Association, Building 2, Suite 321, 2001 North Front St., Harrisburg, PA 17102. Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home Inc., Shippensburg, is in charge of arrangements.

Russell Clyde Jacobs
ROCK HILL, S.C. - Russell Clyde Jacobs, 93, of 2642 Celanese Road, Rock Hill, S.C., formerly of Lewistown, died Thursday, Aug. 31, 2000, at Eden Gardens. Born in Lewistown, he was a son of the late Walter C. Jacobs and Florence Pearson Jacobs. His wife, Sarah Thomas Jacobs, survives. Also surviving are: children, Ronald L. Jacobs, Columbia, S.C., Gary R. Jacobs, Louisville, Ky. and Delores J. Noerr, Lewistown; nine grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. He was the last mayor of Ebenezer Township from 1958-1960, and was a retired electrical supervisor for Celanese. A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 2, at The Chapel of Bass Funeral Home, Rock Hill, S.C., with the Rev. Steve Hogg officiating. Interment was in Grandview Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Building Fund, 215 E. Main St., Rock Hill, S.C. 29730 or Eden Gardens, 1611 Constitution Blvd., Rock Hill, S.C. 29732.

David J. 'Snookee' Jenakovich
EAST WATERFORD - David J. "Snookee" Jenakovich, 62, of East Waterford RR1, formerly of Oberlin, died Tuesday, July 18, 2000, at Community General Osteopathic Hospital, Harrisburg. Born Dec. 25, 1937, in Harrisburg, he was the son of Thelma B. Jenakovich of Oberlin and the late Charles Jenakovich. His wife, Rosemary F. Jenakovich, East Waterford, survives. Also surviving are: children, David C. Jenakovich, Chambers Hill, Jeffrey A. Jenakovich, Highspire, and Tina M. Slabonik, Grantville; brother and sisters, Daniel B. Jenakovich and Jeannie K. McNulty, both of Middletown, and Harriet A. Jenakovich, Harrisburg; stepchildren, William R. Dienno and Anna Maria Dienno, both of Paoli, and Nick Dienno, New York City; and seven grandchildren. He was employed as an operating engineer by Pavex, Inc., Harrisburg. He was a member of Local Union 542, the American Legion Post 232, Dry Run and the Penn Harris Gun Club. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Wiedeman Funeral Home, 357 S. Second St., Steelton. Friends may call from 1 p.m. until the time of the service Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Ralph L. Johnson
RIVERDALE, Md. - Ralph Lawrence Johnson, 80, of Riverdale, Md., formerly of Lewistown, died of respiratory failure Thursday, Sept. 28, 2000, at his home. Born Aug. 22, 1920, in Liverpool, Perry County, he was a son of the late Lawrence and Nora Mae Johnson. His wife, Alice (Murphy) Johnson, whom he married in 1947 at Sacred Heart Church, Lewistown, survives. Also surviving are: children, Patrick Johnson, McLean, Va., Sister Kathleen Johnson, CSC, Kensington, Md., Maureen Johnson, Cheverly, Md. and Colleen Johnson, Lanham, Md.; brothers and sister, Samuel Baughman, Groton, NY, Wayne Johnson, Bradenton, Fla., Audrey Wagner, Arch Rock; two grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Hambright. He graduated from Lewistown High School in 1938. He was a World War II veteran, having served in the Army Signal Corp in Europe. He retired from the Central Intelligence Agency in 1978, having worked there as an analyst, including work via the National Photographic Interpretation Center during the Cuban Missile Crisis of 1962. He was a member of St. Bernard's Catholic Church, Riverdale, Md. He was also a member of the Irish American Club of Washington, DC and a long-time volunteer at Prince George's Hospital Center of Cheverly, Md. Services were held in Riverdale, Md. and Gasch's Funeral Home, Hyattsville, Md. was in charge of arrangements.

Robert Leroy Joseph Sr.
MAPLETON DEPOT - Robert Leroy Joseph Sr., 75, of Spring Street, Mapleton Depot, died at 11:25 a.m. Friday, Dec. 15, 2000, at his home. Born July 7, 1925, in Girardville, Schuylkill County, he was a son of the late Dominic and Anna M. (Niman) Joseph. Surviving are: children, Jackie Sanchez, Yadkinville, SC, Robert L. Joseph Jr, Sparta, NC, Randy L. Joseph and Paul A. Joseph, both of Mapleton; a brother, Paul F. Joseph, Sechrist Road, McVeytown; and 10 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Roger Joseph; and three sisters, Rosie Ruby, Ethel Johnson, and Gladys Lockett. He was Protestant by faith. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, Mount Union, with the Rev. Ed Seeley officiating. Interment will be in Bowman's Chapel Cemetery, Mapleton RR1. Family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until the time of the services Tuesday at the funeral home.

Arlene E. Junk
LOYSVILLE - Arlene E. Junk, 79, a resident of Perry Village Nursing Home, New Bloomfield, formerly of Loysville RR2, died Friday, July 7, 2000, at the Carlisle Hospital. Born Sept. 2, 1920, she was the daughter of the late David M. and Martha E. (Snyder) Gibbons. Her husband, John H. Junk, died Oct. 25, 1999. Surviving are: children, John G. Junk, Carlisle, Joanne E. Fisher, I. Elaine Kling, Kathy J. Kirkpatrick, and Karen S. McDonald, all of Loysville; brother and sister, James Gibbons, Honey Grove and Esther Sollenberger, Chambersburg; 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was the former co-owner of Junk's Grocery at Cisna Run. She was a member of the Brethren in Christ Church, Walnut Bottom Road, Carlisle. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Nickel Funeral Home, Loysville, with the Rev. Jay C. Eickhoff officiating. Private interment will be held at the Farmer's Grove Church of the Brethren Cemetery, Honey Grove RR1. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of the service Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to: the Perry Village Nursing Home, 213 E. Main St., New Bloomfield, PA 17068.
