Carol A. Fleming
(January 2, 1933 - September 4, 2015)

Carol A. Fleming, 82, of Stroudsburg, died Friday, September 4th, while under hospice care at home. She was the widow of Robert T. Fleming who died September 1, 2008.

Born on January 2, 1933 in Fulton, NY, she was the daughter of the late Charles A. and Eliza (Hubbard) Finter and lived in Monroe County since 1970.

She was branch manager for Northeast Penn AAA until retiring in 2000.

Carol was a former member of the Pocono Mountains Chamber of Commerce.

Surviving are a son, Timothy Fleming and his fiance Denise Hayes of Stroudsburg; a stepson, Robert Fleming of Portland; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Lieutenant Colonel George A. Finter who died in Vietnam.

There will be a viewing from 5:00 to 6:00PM on Wednesday, September 9, at the William H. Clark Funeral Home, 1003 Main St., Stroudsburg. Additional viewing will take place at Foster Funeral Home in Fulton, NY with graveside services and burial at Peck Cemetery in South Scriba, NY.

In lieu of flowers, memorial remembrances may be made to Compassionate Care Hospice, 237 East Brown Street, East Stroudsburg, PA 18301.

Carter L. Nash
(March 31, 1937 - August 7, 2015)

Carter L. Nash, age 78, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, August 7th 2015. Born in 1937 in San Diego, California, he was the son of the late Harris H. and Viola Nash. He lived his entire youth in Coronado, California where he loved the ocean and being outdoors. After graduation he went on to serve our country in the United States Air Force and also attended San Diego Jr. College.

He met his wife, Audrey (Treible) in California in 1962. They marriage at former Grace Lutheran Church in East Stroudsburg, PA on September 7th, 1963 and settled down in East Stroudsburg, PA. They would have celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary next month. Around 1968 they moved to Stroud Township and have lived there ever since. Carter retired from East Stroudsburg University after 30 years of service as a Maintenance/HVAC Engineer. Prior to that he was employed at Charles Gordon. He was very active in his church and served on the Church Council, the Property Committee and also the Breakfast Committee at the former Grace Lutheran Church. He was an active member at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Stroudsburg until the time of his passing and had also served on the property committee there.

Carter is survived by his wife of nearly 52 years, Audrey L. Nash (Treible) . He is also survived by his 3 children; daughter Jennifer L. Nash and her fiancé Ken Dickison of Stroudsburg and their daughter Alex Jane Nash and fiancé Roger Santiago of Kingsland, GA. Daughter Laura Smith and her husband Roger of Stroudsburg and daughter Rebecca Carbajal, her husband Louis and their children Alexis, Ashley, Cristhian and Isabella of Stroudsburg. He is also survived by in laws Grace (Treible) and Curt Balmer of Newton, NJ and his niece Debbie Doty and her husband Bob, niece Carole Balmer and many great nieces and nephews.

Carter was a true mans man who loved a project or building something, whether it was a deck or a log cabin with his grandchildren. He was a caring man who spent his retirement with his wife, grandchildren, friends and volunteering at Pocono Medical Center; first in the mailroom and then at the Hughes Cancer Center, until the time of his death. He was always happy when he could bring a smile to someone’s face. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend to all and will be deeply missed.

The memorial celebration of his life will be held Saturday, August 15th at St. John’s Lutheran Church on 9th Street in Stroudsburg, PA at 11:00am. There will be a luncheon immediately following in the church’s social room.

In lieu of lowers the family is asking that donations be made to the Hughes Cancer Center at PMC 206 E. Brown Street, East Stroudsburg, PA 18301 in East Stroudsburg, PA or St. John’s Lutheran Church 9 N. 9th Street, Stroudsburg, PA 18360

Raymond A. Francis, Jr., DDS
(October 3, 1920 - August 23, 2015)

Raymond A. Francis, Jr., DDS, 94, of East Stroudsburg, died peacefully on Sunday, August 23, at home surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of the late Lena K. (Leader) Francis with whom he shared 53 years of marriage at the time of her death.

Born on October 3, 1920 in Philadelphia, he was a son of the late Raymond A. Sr. and Isabel (Dawson) Francis, and lived in Monroe County for the past four years. He previously lived in Frankford, Philadelphia, Avalon, NJ, and Luther Crest in Allentown.

He served in the United States Navy as a Lieutenant.

Raymond was a Dentist in Northeast Philadelphia until his retirement.

He was a member and past president of the Frankford Lions Club and Commodore of the Avalon Yacht Club.

Raymond enjoyed golfing, wood working, reading, exercising and water sports.

Surviving are three children, Margie (Francis) James and her husband Richard of East Stroudsburg, Nancy (Francis) Neher and her husband Dart of Kitty Hawk, NC and Raymond A. Francis, III and his wife Elaine of Maple Glen; seven grandchildren, Lee (James) Hernandez and her husband Dan, Carrie (James) Lowris and her husband Joel, Heather (James) Hasan, and her husband Omar, Matthew Neher and his wife Julie, Kathryn (Neher) Lewis and her husband Jesse, Justin Francis, and Regina Francis; fourteen great-grandchildren, Meagan, Molly and Riley Hernandez, Drew, Chase, and Rider Lowris, Samuel, Matthew, Sarah, and Elijah Hasan, Finley, Clive and Gus Neher, and Keira Lewis; and a sister, Isabel (Francis) Hantwerker of Philadelphia .

The memorial service will begin at 11:00 AM Friday, August 28, at the William H. Clark Funeral Home, 1003 Main Street, Stroudsburg, with Rev. David Cornell officiating. There will be no visitation.

In lieu of flowers, memorial remembrances may be made to Ancille Assumpta Academy, 2025 Church Road, Wyncote, PA 19095.

Nancy A. Knott
(April 16, 1946 - August 15, 2015)

Nancy A. Knott, 69, of Portland, passed away Saturday afternoon, August 15, at Pocono Medical Center in East Stroudsburg. She was the wife of Steven K. Knott with whom she shared 30 years of marriage. Born on April 16, 1946 in East Stroudsburg, she was a daughter of Clare (Langan) Strunk of Stroudsburg and the late Lewis Strunk, II. She had been a life long resident of the area. Nancy was the Co-owner and operator of the Knott Necessarily Antiques in Portland until retiring in 2008.

She was very active in the community where she loved the arts and served on the Monroe County Arts Council, Pocono Arts Council, Forks Arts Council and the Totts Gap Art Institute.

Nancy loved her family, going to parties and enjoyed gardening. She will be missed by many.

In addition to her husband and mother she is survived by: three children, Linda Fish of Marshalls Creek, Thomas Fish and his wife Cindy of Portland, Amanda Moyer and her husband Alan of Bangor; three grandchildren, Rebecca Fish, Chase Moyer, Parker Moyer; six siblings, Lewis Strunk, III of Stroudsburg, Carol Hutson and her husband Mark of Marshalls Creek, William Strunk and his wife Irlene of Stroudsburg, Joanne Walsh and her husband Harry of Marshalls Creek, Jeff Strunk of Marshalls Creek. Jon Strunk and his wife Ann of Lake Arial; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Michael Strunk.

Visitation will be from 12:00 (noon) to 2:00 pm, Saturday, August 22, at the Portland Refiners Fire Ministry, 100 Division Street, Portland, PA. The memorial service will begin promptly at 2:00 pm. A luncheon will follow at the William Pensyl Social Hall, 111 State Street, Portland, PA after the memorial services. Private cremation took place at H.G. Smith Crematory in Stroudsburg.

Memorial remembrances may be made to the Pocono Arts Council, 18 N 7th Street, Stroudsburg, PA 18360 or Portland Hook and Ladder Company, PO Box 175, Portland PA 18351.

Jack Hineline
(November 29, 1944 - July 23, 2015)

Jack Hineline, 70, of Gilbert, passed away on Thursday, July 23 at home. He was the husband of the late Marlene L. (Strunk) Hineline who died on May 12, 2014.

Born on November 29, 1944 in East Stroudsburg, he was the son of the late Bronell and Bertha (Detrick) Hineline and had lived in Monroe County all of his life. He worked as a mechanic at Pat & Red's Tire Store.

Jack loved to shoot pool, play cards and was a bass player with the "Movin Time Band".

He is survived by his children, Trisha Bartholomew and her husband, Clark of Canadensis, Troy Hineline and his partner, Lisa Fetherman of Brodheadsville, Jackie Hineline and her partner, Ray Bisbing of Dalton, GA, Ruth Transue and her husband, Ronald of Neola, James Hineline of Gilbert, Chris Hineline and his wife, Jessie of Gilbert, David Hineline of Gilbert and Mike Hineline and his partner, Ashley Smith of Gilbert; his adopted sons, Heath Ratti of Murfreesboro, TN and Christopher Stoll of Sun Valley; eleven grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; his sisters, Peg Rising, Janet Edwards, Andrea Romanczuk and Sara Lovett; his brother, James Hineline; and many nieces and nephews.

A closed casket visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 29 from 10:00am until 11:00am followed by funeral services at 11:00am in the William H. Clark Funeral Home, 1003 Main Street, Stroudsburg. Burial will follow the service in the Prospect Cemetery, East Stroudsburg

Constantine "Deno" J. Millas
(May 11, 1951 - July 13, 2015)

Constantine "Deno" J. Millas, 64, of Middle Smithfield Township, passed away Monday, July 13, surrounded by his loving family at the Pocono Health System Hospice House in East Stroudsburg. He was the husband of Rosemarie (Repsher) Millas with whom he shared 32 years of marriage.

Born on May 11, 1951 in Rockville Centre, NY, he was a son of the late John and Kalliroy (Orginos) Millas.

He was a songwriter, musician and carpenter.

Deno was a member of Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church in Stroudsburg; served on the board of Castle Rock Acres; was a member of ASCAP; and was an active Tea Party member.

In addition to his wife, surviving are three children, Nicholas Millas and his wife Andrea of Ellenville, NY, Demetrius Millas and his wife Julie of Clay, NY and Dena Gorski and her husband Keith of Bayonne, NJ; and five grandchildren, the loves of his life, Kayla, Silas, Peyton, Zander and, Kali. He was preceded in death by three siblings, John, Christos and Chrisoula.

Viewing will be from 6:00 to 8:00PM on Thursday, July 16, at Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church, 135 Stokes Avenue, Stroudsburg. The funeral service will begin at 11:00AM on Friday, July 17, at the church with the Rev. Theodore Petrides officiating. Burial will follow at Prospect Cemetery in East Stroudsburg.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Clark Funeral Home.
