Ruth A. Myers
(March 15, 1949 - December 16, 2014)

Ruth A. Myers, 65, a resident of Watsontown, PA, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, December 16, 2014 in the Williamsport Regional Medical Center following a 20 year battle with diabetes and all of it's complications. Born in Kelly Twp., Union County, PA, on Tuesday, March 15, 1949, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Grace (Steele) McWilliams.

Ruth was a 1967 graduate of Montgomery Area High School. She was last employed by Pardoe's Perky Peanuts at Montandon, PA and had previously been employed at the White Deer Run Treatment Center and Fred's Restaurant in Montgomery.

Ruth enjoyed puzzles, shooting pool, playing bingo and cards, roller skating and spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Bower-Decker American Legion Post #251 at Montgomery and the Turbotville V.F.W. Ruth was so looking forward to Christmas and spending the holidays with her family.

She is survived by three children, Robert A. Myers III and wife Tiffany, Fort Mill, SC; Cathy and husband Chad Mecimore, Oak Island, NC; Scott Myers, Charlotte, NC; four grandchildren, Alexis Mecimore; Kara Mecimore; McKayla Mecimore; Avery Myers; one brother, Fred R. McWilliams, McEwensville, PA and her sister, Carol Zarr, Montgomery, PA. Ruth was preceded in death by two brothers Richard L. McWilliams, Carl R. McWilliams and one sister, Betty J. Yohn.

Graveside services will be conducted in the Green Lawn Memorial Park, 62 Route 54 Highway, Montgomery, PA at 1:00 P.M. on Monday, December 22, 2014 with Chaplain Robin Steele, of the Celtic Hospice and Home Health, officiating. Arrangements are being handled by the Galen R. Betzer Funeral Service, 40 E. Houston Avenue, Montgomery, PA.

Elwood H. Dewalt
(October 1, 1949 - May 2, 2012)

Elwood H. “Woody” Dewalt, Jr., 62, of Allenwood, passed away Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at his home. Born October 1, 1949 in Williamsport, he was the son of the late Elwood H. and Verna Moser Dewalt, Sr.

Woody was a Correctional Officer at the Muncy State Correctional Institution. He also was a substitute teacher in the Danville Area School District.

Surviving are a son, Trevor J. (Gabriela Huerta) Dewalt of Mexico City; two daughters, Laura (Craig) Sporcic of Lynden, WA and Angela J. Dewalt of Lewisburg and four grandchildren.

Family and Friends are invited to call from 6 to 8 PM Monday at Brooks Funeral Home, 124 Main Street, Watsontown.

Betty W. Frantz
(December 22, 1930 - April 21, 2012)

Betty W. Frantz, 81, of Fairmont Drive, Watsontown, passed away Saturday, April 21, 2012 at Watsontown Health and Rehab Center.

Born in Williamsport on December 22, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Wallace and Elsie (Hall) Weikert. She marriage Sterling R. Frantz on August 12, 1952 and they have celebrated 59 years of marriage.

A 1948 graduate of Williamsport High School, Betty was employed by the Warrior Run School District for 25 years, retiring as a secretary in the business office.

She was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Watsontown.

She enjoyed playing cards and had belonged to several card clubs over the years, enjoyed reading and earlier in life she and her husband enjoyed spending their winters in Florida. But most precious to her were the times she spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Surviving besides her husband are five daughters: Kathy Frantz, in Colorado; Karen Fry and her husband Kevin, Milton; Kim Printzenhoff, Watsontown; Kristi Shuford, Milton; and Kelly Glozzer and her husband Robert of Watsontown; 7 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and a sister, Doris Merk in North Carolina.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Philip Weikert and a son-in-law, Philip Printzenhoff. Friends are invited to call from 10 to 11 AM Friday at First Lutheran Church, 400 Main Street, Watsontown where the funeral will be held at 11:00 AM with the Rev. James Fladland, her pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Watsontown Cemetery.

The family will provide the flowers and suggest contributions in Betty’s memory be made to her church.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Brooks Funeral Home, 124 Main Street, Watsontown.

JoAnn S. Mitchel
(September 25, 1942 - May 22, 2012)

JoAnn S. Mitchel, 69, of Watsontown, passed away Tuesday, May 22, 2012.

Born in the Williamsport Hospital on September 25, 1942, she was the daughter of the late John Stanley "Jack" Sanders and Martha Blanche Dieffenderfer.

JoAnn was raised by her grandparents, Esther A. and C. Scott Dieffenderfer in Hartleton and graduated from Mifflinburg High School in 1960.

In her lifetime, JoAnn worked for the West Company, Montgomery, was a long-time Avon Sales Representative and cleaned for various local families.

JoAnn shared many good years with with her long-time companion, Earl Beck.

Surviving are three daughters: Margaret A. Henry and her companion Andrew DeHart, Watsontown; Nancy M. Rovenolt and her husband Dale, Milton; Cathy J. Randall and her husband Aaron of Manassas, VA; a son, Lester S. Mitchel and his wife Loretta of Sunbury, 10 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Barry Banghart and Milford Diefenderfer, both of Williamsport, and a sister, Esther Sanders of Watsontown.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Martha R. Grove in 2009.

Friends are invited to call from 10 AM to 12 Noon Tuesday at Brooks Funeral Home, 124 Main Street, Watsontown. Burial in Green Lawn Memorial Park, Montgomery will be held privately at the family’s convenience.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in JoAnn’s memory be made to a charity of one’s choice.

Gladys M. Reed
(April 30, 1926 - April 18, 2012)

Gladys M. Reed, 85 of Susquehanna Trail, Watsontown, passed away Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at the Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg.

Gladys was born April 30, 1926 in Hazleton, PA to Dora and Foster Drasher. Gladys graduated from Hazleton High School and worked at F.W. Woolworth Co as an order clerk. She volunteered for 30 years at Montgomery House Library in McEwensville. She was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ in McEwensville and a member of the Mayflower Chapter of Eastern Star. Her hobbies included reading, gardening, sewing and crocheting.

Preceding her in death were her husband of 60 years John M. Reed Jr. and a sister Berniece Pickenheim of Tamaqua.

She leaves behind four children: Donald and Ann Reed of Turbotville, Barbara and George Treibley of New Columbia, Richard Reed and his companion Betty Becker of Muncy and Janet Reed of Mifflinburg, PA. There are nine grandchildren: David and Tammie Treibley of Lilitz, Kenneth and Carrie Treibley of Northumberland, Geoffrey and Bethany Treibley of Winston-Salem, NC, Robert Reed and his fiancee Martha Toner of Turbotville, William and Ginnetta Reed of Watsontown, Jason and Jackie Reed of Leesburg, VA, Shawn Bittner of Mifflinburg, Jennifer Parker of Philadelphia, and Stephanie Reed of the US Army stationed in Georgia; seven great-grandchildren: Vivianne Bricker, Marissa and Collin Treibley, Paige and Aaron Treibley, Victoria Treibley, Olivia and Ray Ransom Reed, and two more great grandchildren on the way.

Friends are invited to call from 6 to 8 PM Friday at Brooks Funeral Home, 207 Broadway Street, Turbotville, where the funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday. Burial will be in Green Lawn Memorial Park, Montgomery.

In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer contributions be made to St. John’s United Church of Christ, P.O. Box 129, McEwensville, or the Montgomery House Library, 20 Church Street, McEwensville.
