Rebecca J. Bower

Rebecca J. Bower, 67, of 109 E. Brimmer Ave., Watsontown, died Thursday, October 21, 2010 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

Born October 4, 1943 in Lewisburg, she was a daughter of the late O. Dawson and Margaret (Bennet) Reitz. On August 16, 1990, she marriage John W. Bower. Together they celebrated 20 years of marriage.

Rebecca was a 1961 graduate of Milton High School. She was previously employed by the Milton Standard Journal and by Hopkinsons Animal Care Hospital, Lewisburg as a receptionist for 20 years.

Rebecca was an honorary member of the Police Blood Hound Association, where she served as secretary for 20 years.

She loved animals, especially horses and bull dogs, and raised blood hounds earlier in her life. Rebecca enjoyed going to public sales, antiquing and riding motorcycles with her husband.

Surviving in addition to her husband are two stepdaughters, Leslie Delsite of Mifflinburg and Jenelle Longacre of Watsontown; three step-grandchildren, Austin and KayLyne Delsite and Heather Longacre; a niece and her husband, Wendy and Brian Via of Watsontown and a great-niece, Alicia Via of Watsontown.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Joan Harman.

Friends will be received from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 25, 2010 at the Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, 308 Main St., Watsontown, where a funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Officiating will be Rev. Douglas M. Eberly, pastor of First United Methodist Church, Watsontown. Burial will follow in the Watsontown Cemetery.

The family welcomes flowers, however if desired memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Lycoming Unit, 1948 E. Third St., Williamsport, PA 17701.

Betty L. Fleming

Betty Louise Fleming, 65, of 203 Lunar Lane, Milton, passed away Tuesday, September 28, 2010 at Kramm Healthcare Center, Milton.

Born November 25, 1944 in Williamsport, she was a daughter of the late Junior Frank and Clara Irene (Baker) Miller.

Betty was previously employed as a bartender at the American Legion in Lewisburg. She was a member of several auxiliaries and lodges, including the Clyde F. Mowrer American Legion Post 323, Watsontown; the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 171, Milton; BPOE (Elks) Lodge 913, Milton; the 40 et 8 Club, Northumberland; and the Muffley-Huff Post #8206 V.F.W., Turbotville.

Surviving are one son, Melvin E. Kurtz, Jr. of Ocean City, MD; two brothers, Donald A. (Elaine) Miller of Montgomery and Fred D. Miller of Sarasota, FL; two sisters, Kathryn I. (Russell) Mingle, Saylorsburg, and Marjorie D. (Elwood) Ackley of Bloomsburg; two nieces; four nephews; and her former husband, Kenneth Fleming of Lewisburg.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a daughter, Charlene.

Friends will be received Monday, Oct. 4, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, 308 Main St., Watsontown, where the funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday. Officiating will be Rev. Jill Seagle, pastor of St. John's Lutheran Church, Delaware Run. Burial will follow in Uniontown Cemetery, Allenwood.

Ray W. Muffly

Ray W. Muffly, 78, of 118 Berkley Drive, Watsontown, passed away peacefully in the presence of his family on Tuesday, September 28, 2010 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

Born November 30, 1931 in Milton, he was a son of the late Abram C. and Ardis M. (Kelly) Muffly. He and his wife, the former Lulu B. Wertman, were marriage on October 27, 1954. His death breaks a marital union of 55 years.

Ray was a 1949 graduate of Danville High School and became tax collector for the borough of Watsontown for 16 years. He retired as bookkeeper for Diehl Chevrolet, Lewisburg in 1992.

As a devoted husband, father and grandfather he also enjoyed spending time with the rest of his family and friends. As a master craftsman, he enjoyed building custom made wooden furniture in his workshop at his home and collecting antique model tractors and beer steins.

He was a longtime member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Watsontown.

In addition to his wife he is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Robin M. and Daniel Hering of Allenwood; one son, Kevin R. Muffly of Watsontown; three sisters, DeLane Simmons of Watsontown, LaVarnie Johnson of Georgia and Ardis Bucher of New Columbia; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Ray was predeceased by two brothers, Roy Muffly and Terry D. Muffly.

Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 400 Main Street, Watsontown, where his funeral will be held at 2 p.m. officiated by his pastor Rev. James H. Fladland. Burial will follow in Watsontown Cemetery.

The family will provide the flowers and suggests memorial contributions be made to First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 400 Main Street, Watsontown, PA 17777.

The family is being assisted by Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, 308 Main Street, Watsontown.

Sara C. "Sally" Reichard

Sara C. “Sally” Reichard, 90, formerly of 1965 Housels Run Road, Milton, and a resident at Graysonview, Selinsgrove, for the past year, died Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at the Evangelical Community Hospital emergency room.

Born October 10, 1920 in Lewisburg, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Cora (Updegraff) Strickland. On May 1, 1949, she marriage Walter H. Reichard, Jr., who preceded her in death on March 9, 2000.

A 1938 graduate of West Chillisquaque High School, she worked for a short time at the chair factory in Lewisburg, later Pennsylvania House. Sara enjoyed sewing, knitting and crocheting.

She was the oldest living member of Montandon Baptist Church and sang in the church choir in her earlier years. Sara was also a member of the Dorcas Circle of the church.

Surviving are two daughters and a son-in-law, Barbara E. and Jeffrey Solomon of Milton and Linda S. Reichard of Philadelphia; and one grandson, Matthew D. Solomon.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by three brothers, Fred, Kenneth and Donald Strickland; and two sisters, Evelyn Strickland and Helen “Sis” Morrison.

Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, January 24, at her church, 257 Main St., Montandon, where the funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Officiating will be her pastor, Rev. Thomas Marker. Burial will follow in Montandon Cemetery.

The family will provide the flowers and suggests memorial contributions be made to Montandon Baptist Church, 257 Main St., Montandon, PA 17850.

The family is being assisted by Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, Lewisburg.

Tiffanni M. Ryan

Tiffanni M. Ryan, 25, of 1390 Turbot Ave., Watsontown, passed away Friday, September 10, 2010 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

Born October 13, 1984 in Lewisburg, she was the daughter of Terry L. and Sally A. (Reynolds) Ryan of Watsontown.

Tiffanni was a 2003 graduate of Milton High School. She enjoyed spending time with her niece, Raelynn, and her nephew, Braden, and was also very fond of her dog, Sadie.

Surviving in addition to her parents are a daughter, Kylee Rose Carpenter; her fiancé, Dan Carpenter of Williamsport, her niece and nephew, Raelynn M. McCarty and Braden C. Ryan, both of Williamsport; paternal grandmother, Eleanor Ryan of Milton; maternal grandmother, Bertha Reynolds of Watsontown; five aunts, Sandra Craig and Joani Bower both of Watsontown, Georgie Dymeck of Williamsport, Mary Killian of Delaware and Brenda Miller of Danville; and two uncles, Donald Reynolds of Watsontown and John Reynolds of Georgia.

She was predeceased by a brother, Terry L. Ryan II, who died July 25, 2010; paternal grandfather, Bruce E. Ryan; maternal grandfather, Donald Reynolds; and an uncle, Robert Reynolds.

Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, 308 Main St. Watsontown, where the funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday. Officiating will be Pastor Dennis E. Moore of the Hope for Today Pentecostal Church of Watsontown. Burial will follow in Green Lawn Memorial Park, Montgomery.
