Harold E. McCollin

Harold E. McCollin, 91, formerly of 500 Main Street, Watsontown, died Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at Kramm’s Nursing Home, Watsontown.

Born February 29, 1920 in Watsontown, he was a son of the late Edward and Bertha (Norton) McCollin. On September 10, 1949 he marriage the former Jean Marie Savidge. Together they celebrated 61 years of marriage.

Harold was a 1939 graduate of Watsontown High School. He served honorably as a Master Sergeant Crew Chief with the US Air Force during World War II. For 41 years, Harold worked as a purchasing agent at the former Philco-Ford, Watsontown, retiring in 1982.

He was a member of the Clyde F. Mowrer American Legion Post 323, Watsontown, the Watsontown Lion’s Club and the Warrior Run (Watsontown) Fire Department, where he was a former firefighter. An avid hunter and fisherman, Harold was a lifetime member of Ye Golden Springs Hunting Club, White Deer. He enjoyed participating as the Bass drummer in the Watsontown Centennial Band and metal detecting throughout the state.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, William D. McCollin of Watsontown and Edward R. McCollin of Vermont; daughter-in-law Wendy VanDerGeest and granddaughter Leah McCollin, both of Wisconsin, and sister in law Grace (Bieber) McCollin, Watsontown.

He was preceded in death by brothers Alan, Robert¸ George and Douglas McCollin, sisters Edith (Westley), Ruth (Wilman), Vera and Stella McCollin.

Friends will be received from 10 to 11 A.M. Saturday, March 26, 2011 at Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, 308 Main St., Watsontown, where the funeral will be held at 11 A.M. Officiating will be the Rev. James H. Fladland, pastor of First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Watsontown. Burial with full military honors will follow in Watsontown Cemetery.

Michael L. Shaffer

Michael L. Shaffer, 53 of Watsontown, died Friday, October 21, 2011 at his home.

Born December 1, 1957 in Montgomery, he was a son of Austin L. and Sarah J. (Aderhold) Shaffer.

Michael was a 1974 graduate of Warrior Run High School.

He enjoyed helping around his father’s farm and hunting.

Surviving in addition to his parents of Watsontown are one brother and sister-in-law, Daniel L. and Faye Shaffer of Milton; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Patricia A. Grove and Susan L. and Lester Gross, all of Lewisberry; ten nieces and nephews; and nine great nieces and great nephews.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Joella Arthur who died in May 1987.

Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, at Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, 308 Main St., Watsontown, where the funeral will be held at 11 a.m.

Officiating will be Pastor Dave Martino, minister of Community Mennonite Fellowship.

Burial will follow in Twin Hills Memorial Park, Muncy.

Daniel W. Stutzman

Daniel Wood “Dan” Stutzman, 62, of Watsontown, went to be with the Lord, Sunday, June 12, 2011 at his home.

Born February 1, 1949 in Williamsport, he was a son of the late George D. and Evelyn B. (Wood) Stutzman.

Dan was a graduate of Loyalsock Township High School. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving as a medic in Company B, Bravo, 326 Medical Battalion (Airmobile). Dan received a Purple Heart and Vietnam service medals.

He retired from J.T. Miller where he was a long distance truck driver. He was the previous owner of the former Mad Hatter Tavern in Muncy.

Dan was a lifetime member of the V.F. W. and the American Legion.

Surviving are two daughters, Danielle L. Stutzman and Stacia L. Stutzman both of Williamsport; one son and daughter-in-law, Robert W. “Rob” (Shannon) Stutzman of Watsontown; one sister, Nanci McCowan Long of Montoursville; one sister-in-law, Sandra Stutzman of Williamsport; four grandchildren, Shawnee E. (Gretchen) Stutzman, Cody M. Stutzman, Mishka S. Helminiak and Madison R. Stroud; four nieces and three nephews, Megan (Ben) Meridew, Shawn (Karen) McCowan, Ann (Mike) Fink, Nanci (Carl) Adams, Christine (Gene) Welliver, Jerry (Terri) Stutzman and Mark Stutzman.

In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his brother, George Frederick “Freddy” Stutzman.

In keeping with Dan’s wishes, there will not be any services.

The family is being assisted by Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, Watsontown.

Clinton E. Stahley

Clinton E. Stahley, 88, of Montandon, passed away, Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at his residence.

He was born May 22, 1923 in Lewisburg, a son of the late Harold L. and Catherine C. (Yost) Stahley. On December 15, 1950 he marriage the former Edna L. Ross who survives. Together, they celebrated 60 years of marriage.

Clinton served honorably as a Corporal in the U.S. Army Air Force. He was stationed on Saipan in the Mariana Islands during World War II.

After his discharge from the Armed Forces, Clinton worked at the former Philco Corporation in Watsontown. He later retired after 35 years as a repairman for Pennsylvania House Furniture.

He was a member of United in Christ Lutheran Church (Twin Churches) near Kelly Crossroads.

Clinton had an avid passion for model cars. Even more was his passion and devotion to his wife. He also enjoyed spending time with all his family and friends.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are one sister and brother-in-law, Jean and George Berryman of Lewisburg and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by one sister, Jessie Virginia Beatty.

Friends will be received from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday at the Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, S. Second and St. Louis Streets, Lewisburg followed by the funeral at 2. Officiating will be Pastor Ron Wagner of Montandon Baptist Church.

The family will provide the flowers and suggests memorial contributions be made to a charity of one’s choice.
