(Ebel) Smith; two children Gretchen L. Smith of Indiana and Carl L. Smith of Middlesex Twp.; one brother William Smith of Arnold, PA; two sisters Dolores (Dolly) Stephens of Springdale and Roberta (Bobbi) Madoni of Springdale. Friends will be received at the Schellhaas Funeral Home, Ltd. 5864 Heckert Road, Bakerstown, a "Pursuit of Excellence" award firm, on Thursday and Friday 2-4 7-9. Funeral home services will be held on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. with Fr. Jude officiating. Interment will follow in Lakewood Memorial Gardens. Mr. Smith was an avid bowler, hunter and fisherman. The Smith family suggests donations to the American Diabetes Association.

Beloved wife of the late John R. Rodda who died in 1996. Dear mother of Dick Rodda of Valencia. Grandmother of three grandsons, Kirk, Justin and Nathan Rodda. Sister of Frank Olson of Turtle Creek and Florence Guest of Buffalo, NY. In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by her sister Evelyn Shaffer. Smith. Also one daughter in law, Rosann Smith. Sister of Eugene (Alice) Quigley of Penn Hills. Also 11 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, son and parents, she was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Merrill and Raymond and 7 sisters, Jewel, Marie, Mildred, Geraldine, Hazel, Erma, and her twin, Irene. Pfeiffer of Millvale. Loving brother of Sandy Grier of Las Vegas, Debbie Pfeiffer of Ingram, Al Pagan of Shaler, Frank Pagan of Maryland, and Tammy Pagan of Ellood City. Step brother of Robert Pagan of Texas. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Leo worked as a Janitor for the 911 Air Force Base. Also survived by 4 Grandchildren and 3 Great Grandchildren. Born in Meyersdale, PA she was the daughter of the late Robert Harry & Mary Rebecca (Reger) Philson. Beloved wife of the late J. Warren Shaver. Dear mother of John W. Shaver and his wife Juliana of Moon Twp., Suzanne McLaughlin and her husband Sherman of Edgewood, Samuel Shaver and his wife Catherine of Poquoson, VA, Bernice Heisey and her husband John of McCandless Twp., Kent Shaver and his wife Karen of Valencia, and Pete Shaver and his wife Karen of Cranberry Twp. Sister of Rebecca Philson McClure of Salisbury, PA. Also 14 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren. Mrs. Shaver was a member of a long established family living in Meyersdale and Somerset County. She had ancestors who participated in the American Revolution and was a descendant of Robert Philson, a leader of the Whiskey Rebellion. Mrs. Shaver was a graduate of Goucher College in 1934, her major studies were in biochemistry and social work. Her interests were many, but she was especially dedicated to music having studied at the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore. She was an organist for several congregations and she volunteered her musical talents at Valley Care Nursing Home in Sewickley.

She was born in Pittsburgh on June 1, 1906, the daughter of the late Albert and Mathilda (Suck) Hildenbrand. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Spindler was preceded in death by her husband, Maurice. Mrs. Spindler is survived by two daughters, Lois Manipole of Guys Mills, PA and Myrna Hanna of Cranberry Township. Also, 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Elvera was a homemaker most of her life. (Cooper) Redpath. In addition to his parents Mr. Redpath was preceded in death by his beloved wife Ellen (Poff) Redpath; 3 brothers Donald, Robert and Richard Redpath. Survivors include 2 nephews Robert Redpath of Texas and Ronald Redpath of Washington; one niece Patricia Roberts of Florida; one great nephew Ian Roberts of Florida. Interment will follow in the Bakerstown Cemetery. Mr. Redpath was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Bakerstown and was a HAM radio operator.

Virginia M. Sopher

Virginia "Ginny" M. Sopher, age 76 of Ross Township, on Monday, September 9, 2002 in her home. Born on July 9, 1926 in Pittsburgh, she was the beloved daughter of the late Albert and Catherine (Quinn) Sholtze. Also preceded in death by one daughter, the late Kathy Sopher, two brothers, the late Robert and John Scholze, and one sister, the late Ann Fohl. Surviving is her beloved husband of 57 years Joseph T. Sopher, three loving sons, Jay Sopher of Ross, Jim Sopher of Cranberry, and Terry Sopher of Ross, and one sister, Martha Linderoth of New York. Also survived by six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Ginny was a former President of St. Teresa Guild and Christian Mother's, active in North Star Players, Ingomar Garden Club and the Ladies Golf League of Green Valley Golf Course. Lillian D. (Burgess) Payne on Saturday June 22, 2002, age 85, of Bellevue. Born in Star Junction, PA on November 16, 1916, the daughter of the late Harvey and Agnes Burgess. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Payne was preceded in death by her husband, Charles A. Payne; five brothers and sisters, Cameron and Wilmer Burgess, Walter Muldoon, Alverda Wolak and Evelyn Getchell. Lillian is survived by two sons, Charles R. Payne of Ross Township and Thomas R. Payne of Shaler. Also survived by three grandchildren, Valerie Rhoades of Evans City, Ryan Payne of Avalon and Frederick Payne of Shaler Township. Mrs. Payne was a homemaker most of her life.
