WILLIAM A. HANNOLD
William Alfred Hannold, 78, formerly of Meck's Corner, died Monday, Jan. 31, 2000, at home in Lake Forest, Calif. of cancer.
He was born March 16, 1921 in Philadelphia.
A resident of Meck's Corner in the late 1940s/early 1950s, he was a member of Snyder's United Brethren Church and was employed as a machinist at Thompson Products in Harrisburg. He joined the United States Army in 1942 and served in the Military Police for two years, much of that time stationed in Phoenix City, Ala.
After retiring from Douglas Aircraft in California, he was a legislative advocate for 11 years, working with the California State Legislature, introducing and promoting legislation for the developmentally handicapped.
Surviving are his wife of 55 years, the former Maude Ellen Rinehart; two sons, David of Laguna Niguel, Calif., and William Jr., of Yuba City, Calif.; two daughters, Barbara Rogokos of Lake Forest, Calif., and Jo Ann Hannold of Lake Forest, Calif.; one sister, Mabel Greaves of Highland Mills, N.Y.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Burial was at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Cypress, Calif.

PEARL V. HECKERT
Pearl V. Heckert, 75, of Perry Village Nursing Home, New Bloomfield, formerly of Honaman House, Thompsontown, died Monday, Dec. 18, 2000 in Perry Village.
She was born July 17, 1925 in Schuylkill County to the late Harry and Jenny (Boyer) Schoffstall.
She was a member of Second United Church of Christ, Harrisburg, and enjoyed crafts, crocheting, sewing and ceramics.
She was the widow of Howard O. Heckert.
Surviving are a son, Howard of Duncannon; four daughters, Catherine Barner of Newport, Jenny Heldreth of North Benton, Ohio, Barbara King of Duncannon and Mary Gardner of Lewistown; two brothers, Lyman and William Schoffstall, both of Harrisburg; two stepbrothers, Kenneth Brooker of Middletown and Edwin Schoffstall of Ohio; two stepsisters, Genevieve Kuntz and Winifred Keefer, both of Dauphin; eight grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; 20 step-great-grandchildren; and a step-great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Tyler Swartz.
Services were held Dec. 22 in Smith Funeral Home, Duncannon, with the Rev. William Fetrow officiating. Burial was in Riverview Cemetery, Millerstown.

H. CARLTON HENRY
H. Carlton Henry, 76, of Mifflin HC 67 died Sunday, Jan. 30, 2000 in Lewistown Hospital.
He was a retired self-employed poultry farmer and a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Nook, and Milford Grange 773.
Surviving are his wife, Helen Aughey Henry; three sons, David C. of Port Royal RR 2, Marvin E. of Mifflintown and Kenneth L. of Mifflin HC 67; a daughter, Virginia M. Henry of Mifflin; a brother, Donald S. of Port Royal RR 2; two sisters, Bertha A. Bowers of Steelton and Mary Jane Trout of Elliottsburg; and seven grandchildren.
Services were held Feb. 3 in his church. Burial was in the church Cemetery.
Arrangements were handled by Henry Funeral Home, Honey Grove.

DORIS I. HEPFER
Doris I. Dowdrick Hepfer, 75, of Maple Avenue, Marysville, died Friday, Jan. 28, 2000 in the Masonic Homes, Elizabethtown.
She was a certified registered nurse anesthetist and the former owner of the Marysville and West Fairview TruValue Hardware stores; a graduate of the former Duncannon High School and a graduate of the Harrisburg Hospital School of Nursing and Anesthesiology; and a member of the Duncannon High School Alumni Association.
Surviving are one daughter, Dawn M. Hamilton of Marysville; one son, Brett Hamilton of Groveland, Fla.; one sister, Mary Ellen Dowdrick of Duncannon; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Shalonis Funeral Home, Marysville, handled arrangements.

GLENN J. HERBSTER
Glenn J. Herbster, 82, of Beavertown RR 1 died Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2000 at RiverWoods, Lewisburg.
He was born Oct. 26, 1918 in Troxelville to the late James and Bessie (Steininger) Herbster.
He retired as a farmer; had been employed at Bethlehem Steel, Harrisburg, Reigle's Mill, Paxtonville, and National Limestone Quarry, Middleburg; served as a Beaver Twp. supervisor; attended St. Peter's Independent Bible Church, Beavertown RR 1, and formerly attended Salem Independent Brethren Church, Middleburg, where he was a Sunday school superintendent for 25 years; a life member of Rescue Hose Company, Beavertown; a member of the Holstein-Friesian Association of America; and enjoyed deer hunting and woodworking.
Surviving are his wife of 60 years, OlaJean Bailey Herbster; three daughters, Marjorie J. Baker of Lewistown, Sandra L. Seasholtz of Sunbury and Linda M. Herrold of Selinsgrove RR 1; a son, Richard E. of Duncannon; three sisters, Phyllis Hassinger of Alaska, Vesta Lessman of Sunbury and Ruth Walter of Middleburg RR 4; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Cloyd, Bruce, Parke and Donald Herbster, and two sisters, Augusta Herbster and Dorothy Mitchell.
Services were held Nov. 18 in Hummel Funeral Home, Middleburg, with the Revs. James Plank and Darvin Reich officiating. Burial was in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Beavertown.

MYRTLE E. HERMAN
Myrtle E. Herman, 82, of Messiah Village, Mechanicsburg, formerly of Palmerton, died Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2000 in Messiah Village.
She was born April 15, 1918 at Palmerton to the late Oscar and Christiana (Anglemyer) Wagner.
She was a former employee of the W.T. Grant Company and Keystone Savings Bank, Palmerton, and had served as a volunteer for the Palmerton Hospital.
She was the widow of Henry G. Williams and Ralph A. Herman.
Surviving are two sons, Henry N. Williams of Shermans Dale and David R. Williams of Somerville, N.J.; a daughter, Betty Babinchak of Etters; a stepdaughter, Jane Herman Donchez of East Stroudsburg; a sister, Ruth Smith of Tucson, Ariz.; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held Dec. 27 in Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Palmerton.
Nickel Funeral Home, Loysville, handled arrangements.

DANIEL HINEBAUGH
Daniel Hinebaugh, 82, of Sea Pines, S.C., died Monday, Jan. 17, 2000 in Hilton Head Medical Center and Clinics.
He was born July 15, 1917 in Lewistown to the late Daniel and Esther (Wertz) Hinebaugh.
Upon graduation in 1937 from The Williamson School in Media, he joined Singer Sewing Machine Co. in Philadelphia, from which he retired as general manager, Far East.
He was an Army captain in World War II, serving with the "Fightin' Bitin'" Squadron of the 306th bomb group. He received the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Air Medal with three oak leaf clusters for completing 25 combat missions.
He was a member of First Presbyterian Church on Hilton Head Island.
Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Cynthia Gilmer Hinebaugh; two daughters, Susan Speirs and Sally Sobolewski, both of Greenville; two sisters, Jean Nooker of Arroyo Grande, Calif., and Elizabeth Vacca of Harrisburg; and four grandchildren.
Services were held Feb. 5 in his church with the Rev. Lydia Rappaport officiating.

GEORGE H. HOCKENBERRY
George H. Hockenberry, 79, of Duncannon, died Sunday, March 26, 2000 in Masonic Homes, Elizabethtown.
He was born Jan. 29, 1921 in Duncannon to the late Wilbur and Mary (Harp) Hockenberry.
He was retired from Conrail; an Army Air Force veteran of World War II with a Purple Heart, Air Medal with three bronze leaf clusters, a prisoner of war medal, a Bronze Service Star; a member of Asbury United Methodist Church, Perry Lodge 458 F&AM, Harrisburg Consistory, Zembo Temple, Caterpillar Club, 388 Bombardiers, Perdix Fire Company, VFW Post 255 and American Legion Post 340; and was a former fire chief of Duncannon Fire Company.
He was the widower of A. Jane McKelvey Hockenberry.
Surviving are two sons, George H. Jr. of Florida and Arden of Duncannon; two daughters, Annamarie Loper and Patricia Ann Rapp, both of Duncannon; two brothers, Harry F. and Earl J., both of Duncannon; two sisters, Emma Klinepeter of Duncannon and Margaret Gallagher of Marysville; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, March 30, in Smith Funeral Home, Duncannon, with the Rev. David Willard officiating. Burial will be in Duncannon Cemetery with military honors.
