EDNA V. SIMONTON
Edna V. Simonton, 84, formerly of Millerstown, died Sunday, Jan. 30, 2000 in Perry Village Nursing Home, New Bloomfield.
She was born Nov. 29, 1915 in Millerstown to the late Leo and Dilly (Starr) Walker.
She was retired from Line Fashion Factory, Millerstown, and attended Red Hill Church of God, Newport.
She was the widow of Elmer Potter and Frank Simonton.
Surviving are two sons, Ronald E. Potter of Green Park and Daryl L. Potter of Idaho; four daughters, Janet Snyder and Shirley Gaines, both of Newport, Bonnie Howard of Dalmatia and Karen Arnold of Duncannon; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two daughters, Joyce Casner and Faye Wilson.
Services were held Feb. 1 in Myers Funeral Home, Newport, with the Rev. Harry Cole officiating. Burial was in Riverview Cemetery, Millerstown.

ROBERT W. SIMPSON
Robert W. Simpson, 77, of Old Ferry Road, Millerstown, died Friday, Dec. 15, 2000 in Harrisburg Hospital.
He was born July 2, 1923 in Pittsburgh to the late William N. and Elizabeth (Patton) Simpson.
He retired in 1969 from the Navy as a master chief machinist's mate; had been a part-time beef farmer, opened the Newport H&R Block office and worked in the state Capitol's heating plant; was a 1941 graduate of Pitman (N.J.) High School; a World War II veteran; raised and trained beagles for field-trial competition; and enjoyed bowling.
Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Reta M. Willard Simpson; two sons, William H. Yoder of Atco, N.J., and Robert J. Simpson of Millerstown; a daughter, Carol D. Reich of Millerstown; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Russell W. Yoder.
Services were held Dec. 19 in Sheaffer Funeral Home, Millerstown, with the Rev. James A. Neimond Jr. officiating. Burial was in St. Matthew's Cemetery, Millerstown.

RONALD SIMPSON
Ronald Simpson, 70, of the Donna Sweger Dom-Care Home, Ickesburg, died Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2000 in Carlisle Hospital.
He was born May 24, 1930 in Dayton, Ohio.
He was a former commercial truck driver; a Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War; and attended St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Ickesburg.
Surviving are his wife, E. Betty Simpson; three daughters, Emma Helm of Port Royal, Catherine Navarro of Kings Mountain, N.C., and Mable Marie Master of Punxsutawney; a son, Ronald Simpson of Ickesburg; a stepson, Roger A. Gum of Columbus, Ohio; two stepdaughters, Sheryl Ann Gulla of Port Jarvis, N.Y., and Sharon Rose Shannon of Sharon; a brother, Oscar of West Middlesex; two sisters, Lennie Koster of Englewood, Ohio, and Rose Clearwater of Gold City, Ore.; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Rhonda K. Simpson; a stepson, John William Gum; four brothers, Charles, Oscar, Donald and William Simpson; and two sisters, Jessie Taylor and Laura M. Rector.
Services were held Jan. 2 in St. Paul's Church with the Rev. Karen Easterly officiating. Burial, with military honors, was Jan. 4 in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
Myers Funeral Home, Newport, handled arrangements.

A. RUTH SMITH
A. Ruth Smith, 83, of N. River Road, Halifax, died Sunday, Sept. 17, 2000 in Susquehanna Lutheran Village, Millersburg.
She was born Sept. 6, 1917 in New Bloomfield to the late Frank and Pearl (Shatto) Fetterhoff.
She retired from the state Department of Labor and Industry.
Surviving are her husband, Kenneth E. Smith Sr.; a son, Kenneth E. Jr. of Mechanicsburg; a daughter, Virginia Mullen of Greencastle; two sisters, Helen Kuntz of New Cumberland and Marie Snyder of Landisburg; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Services were held Sept. 24 in Boyer Funeral Home, Duncannon, with the Rev. Anthony C. Hill officiating.

CATHERINE T. SMITH
Catherine T. Napoli Smith, 77, of Marysville, formerly of Harrisburg, died Monday, Jan. 10, 2000 in Polyclinic Hospital, Harrisburg.
She was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Roman Catholic Church, Marysville.
She was the widow of Hunter M. Smith.
Surviving are a daughter, Sharon A. Magaro of Enola; two brothers, Frank Napoli and Ernest Napoli, both of Harrisburg; two sisters, Carmela Kufner of Harrisburg and Louise Mezell of Steelton; a grandson; and a great-grandson.
Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Jan. 12 in her church. Burial was in Resurrection Cemetery, West Hanover Twp.
Neill Funeral Home, Camp Hill, handled arrangements.

FRANK S. SMITH
Frank S. Smith, 79, of Blain RR 1 died Monday, Jan. 17, 2000 in Perry Village Nursing Home, New Bloomfield.
He was born Feb. 23, 1920 in Madison Twp. to the late Gard M. and Mae V. (Snyder) Smith.
He was the owner and operator of the former Smith's Feed Mill and a member of Three Springs Church of the Brethren, Blain RR 1, Adams Lodge F&AM 319, Blain Lions Club and Blain Sportsmen's Club.
He was the widower of Florence M. Smith, who died in 1987.
Surviving are three sons, George M. of Waynesboro, Jan L. of Liverpool and Jay W. of Elliottsburg; a daughter, Elaine S. Reeder of Lebanon; two brothers, Richard D. of Blain and Robert E. of Newport; three sisters, Ida N. Book and Lila A. Wallace, both of Blain, and Vera M. Thomas of Carlisle; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Services were held Jan. 20 in his church with the Rev. John S. Kipp officiating. Burial was in Blain Cemetery.
Boyer Funeral Home, New Bloomfield, handled arrangements.

HAROLD V. SMITH
Harold V. "Todd" Smith, 82, of Loysville RR 1 died Sunday, March 12, 2000 in Perry Village Nursing Home, New Bloomfield.
He was born June 23, 1917 at New Germantown to the late Vernon and Gertrude S. (Snyder) Smith.
He was retired from PennDOT of New Bloomfield; a farmer; and a member of Three Springs Church of the Brethren, Blain, Blain Fire Company, Blain Ambulance Club and Camp Fairview Hunting Club, Blain RR 1.
He was the widower of K. Elizabeth Stambaugh Smith.
Surviving are two sons, Harold E. "Buck" and V. Steven, both of Loysville RR 1; a daughter, Barbara S. Peterson of Newville; a brother, R. Gene of Blain RR 1; a sister, Marie L. Smith of Mechanicsburg; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Services were held March 15 in his church with the Rev. John S. Kipp officiating. Burial was in Blain Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to his church, Box 8, Blain 17006.

HARRY E. SMITH
Harry E. Smith, 64, of Liverpool RR 1 died Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2000 at home.
He was born March 31, 1936 in Middletown to the late George and Virginia (Bailey) Smith.
He was a retired State Capitol policeman in Harrisburg and had worked as a private investigator and as a chef in area restaurants; attended Greenwood schools; a member of Calvary Temple, Harrisburg, Fraternal Order of Police, Liverpool American Legion, Oriental Valley Sportsmen's Club, Veterans Affairs Association and several Christian organizations; and enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing guitar and singing.
Surviving are his former wife, Ruth Boyle Smith of Liverpool RR 1; two sons, Paul W. of Middletown and George W. of Liverpool; five daughters, Tammy L. Luckenbill of Harrisburg, Amelia E. Richmond of Liverpool, Robin M. Hiester, Beulah (Bee) Strawser and Diane M. Smith, all of McAlisterville; two brothers, Paul Barner of New Jersey and Charlie Barner of New Cumberland; four sisters, Margaret Brubaker of Liverpool, Dorothy Hammaker of Port Royal, Betty Zososke of California and Diana Herris of Washington; and 16 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his stepfather, William Barner; two brothers, Howard and Paul Smith; and a sister, Thelma Barner.
Services were held Sept. 16 in Garman Funeral Home, Liverpool, with the Rev. Theodore A. Janke officiating. Burial was in Blue Ridge Memorial Cemetery, Harrisburg.
