MARY DUNNE ISRAEL
Mary Dunne Israel, 81, of Shermans Dale and St. Petersburg, Fla., died Saturday, Feb. 27, 1999 in Todd Nursing Home, Carlisle.
She was a graduate of Olney High School, Philadelphia; retired from Carlisle Tire and Rubber Co.; and was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church, Carlisle.
She was the widow of Frank Israel.
Surviving is a sister, Alice Armstrong of Shermans Dale.
Services will be held March 5 at her church. Entombment will be in Carlisle Mausoleum, Westminster Cemetery.
Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, Carlisle, is handling arrangements.

CANDACE D. LUKENS
Candace D. Lukens, 39, of Peach Tree, Industrial Boulevard, Atlanta, Ga., formerly of Duncannon, died Thursday, Jan. 7, 1999 at home.
She was born Oct. 28, 1959 in Harrisburg.
She was a district manager for Waldenbooks; a graduate of Susquenita High School and Harrisburg Area Community College; and a member and former Sunday school teacher of Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church, Mechanicsburg, and a former member of its Ladies Aid Society.
Surviving are her father, John A. Lukens of Duncannon; three brothers, John A. III of Harrisburg, David C. of Duncannon RR 4 and Howard H. of South Lyon, Mich.; and a sister, Tamara J. Gerhold of Duncannon; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, Beverly J. (Ensminger) Lukens and a brother, James Lukens.
Services were held Jan. 13 in her church with the Rev. Thomas Kraus officiating. Burial was in Duncannon Cemetery.
Smith Funeral Home, Duncannon, handled arrangements.

ANNA C. JOHNSON
Anna C. "Gertie"Johnson, 81, formerly of S. Front Street, Liverpool, died Saturday, May 8, 1999 at West Shore Health & Rehabilitation Center, Camp Hill.
She was born Oct. 12, 1917 in Perry County to the late Newton K. and Carrie B. (Holmes) Smith.
She was a Millerstown High School graduate; the operator for many years of Johnson's Tourist Home, housing construction workers working on the Routes 11-15 project; a member of Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, Liverpool, where she had assisted with summer Bible school and was a former choir member, Liverpool Senior Citizens; and had a citizen band radio name of "FlowerLady," because of her love for flowers, and was an accomplished knitter.
She was the widow of Harold E. "Sam" Johnson, who died Feb. 8, 1981.
Surviving are a son, Richard M. of Newport; two daughters, Suzanne Eckenrode of Camp Hill and Carol Gingrich of Dallastown; a sister, Virginia M. Books of Newport; four granddaughters; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Edgar E. and Carl J.; two brothers, Carl and Charles Smith; and two sisters, Carrie B. Deckard and Mary E. Showers.
Services were held May 11 in Garman Funeral Home, Liverpool, with the Rev. Ray Hatcher officiating. Burial was in Newport Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to her church,1000 N. Front St., Liverpool 17045.

ALBERT E. LIGHTNER

Albert E. Lightner, 73, of Loysville RR 1 died Saturday, July 3, 1999 in Harrisburg Hospital.
He was born Feb. 27, 1926 to the late Albert A. and Freda (Bupp) Lightner.
He was retired from the state; a veteran of World War II; and a member of Newport VFW.
He was the widower of Eunice C. Lightner.
Surviving are two sons, Mark and Alan, both of Ickesburg; two daughters, Melody Walborn of Newport and Delores Reisinger of Loysville; a brother, Lawrence, and a sister, Janice Rowe, both of Harrisburg; 12 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Services were held July 7 in Boyer Funeral Home, New Bloomfield, with the Rev. Ronald Weigle officiating. Burial, with military honors, was in Saville Cemetery.

ELIZABETH LIGHTNER
Elizabeth "Libby" Lightner, 87, of Loysville RR 1 died Wednesday, March 17, 1999 in Swaim Health Center, Newville.
She was born Sept. 27, 1911 in Juniata Twp., Huntingdon County, to the late Joseph A. and Matilda M. (Hawn) Grubb.
She was a homemaker and a member of Centre Presbyterian Church, Loysville RR 1.
She was the widow of Paul R. Lightner, who died April 24, 1989.
Surviving are a son, Paul A. of Derry, N.H.; two daughters, Thelma G. Hutchinson of Newville and Gloria K. Hanehald of Clark, N.J.; a brother, Floyd E. Grubb of Alexandria, Pa.; two sisters, Helena M. Secrest of Mount Union and Geraldine M. Morningstar of Huntingdon; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Services were held March 20 in Nickel Funeral Home, Loysville, with the Rev. Kenneth Osborne officiating. Burial was in Blain Cemetery.

ALBERT J. LONG
Albert J. "Jack" Long, 73, of Port Royal RR 1 died Monday, March 8, 1999 in Hershey Medical Center.
He was born May 8, 1925 in Spruce Hill Twp., Juniata County, to the late Lewis L. and Blanche (Bailor) Long.
He was a self-employed carpenter and farmer; an Army veteran of World War II; and a member of Lower Tuscarora Presbyterian Church, Academia.
Surviving are his wife, Florence Nipple Long; two daughters, Barbara Maxton of Ickesburg and Carol Adams of York; two brothers, Raymond T. Sr. and Larry L., both of Port Royal; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services were held March 12 in his church with the Revs. Edward Trask and Harold Imes officiating. Burial was in Old Church Hill Cemetery.
Henry Funeral Home, Honey Grove, handled arrangements.

DEAN E. LOY
Dean E. Loy, 74, of Loysville RR 1 died Saturday, Nov. 13, 1999 in Carlisle Hospital.
He was born Dec. 18, 1924 at Loysville RR 1 to the late Hugh A. and Izora (Gutshall) Loy.
He was a farmer; a former Southwest Madison Twp. supervisor; had been a board member of the former Blain High School; was a graduate of the former Blain Vocational School; a Navy veteran of World War II; a member and former trustee, elder and choir member of Centre Presbyterian Church, Loysville RR 1; a trustee of Centre Presbyterian Cemetery Association; and a member of Newport VFW Post 34, the Blain Lions and Sportsman's clubs, Blain Fire Company and Blain Ambulance Club.
Surviving are his wife, Martha J. Milligan Loy; two sons, Robert D. of Loysville and James E. of Pitman, N.J.; a daughter, Pat R. Barnes of Millerstown; three brothers, Paul G. of Ickesburg, Morris C. of Landisburg and Thomas A. of Loysville; a sister, Dorothy C. Hall of New Bloomfield; and eight grandchildren.
Services were held Nov. 16 in his church with the Rev. Kenneth Osborne officiating. Burial was in the church Cemetery.
Nickel Funeral Home, Loysville, handled arrangements.

HANNAH C. LUCAS
Hannah C. Lucas, 63, of Wynnewood Road, Harrisburg, died Thursday, May 27, 1999 in Community General Osteopathic Hospital, Harrisburg.
She was born in Hershey to the late Victor G. "Rube" and Mary E. (Welcomer) Hein.
She was the owner of the former Rube's Towing Service and served as the business's secretary and bookkeeper prior to ownership. She was a member of the Rutherford Fire Company Social Quarter and enjoyed crocheting and crossword puzzles.
Surviving are her husband of 34 years, Robert E. Lucas; one daughter, Merrie L. Farrell of Shermans Dale; one brother, Larry L. Hein of Elizabethville; and two grandsons, Joshua and Anthony Farrell of Camp Hill.
Services were held June 2 in Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Hummelstown, with the Rev. Dr. Jeffrey N. Cartwright officiating. Burial was in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Harrisburg.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1500 N. Second St., Harrisburg 17110.

IRA E. LANDIS SR.
Ira E. Landis Sr., 77, formerly of N. Fifth Street, Newport, died Thursday, July 1, 1999 in Kinkora Pythian Home, Duncannon.
He retired from Cumberland Roofers; was an Army veteran of World War II; and a member of the Carlisle VFW post.
He was the widower of Marie Barrick Landis.
Surviving are three sons, Ira E. Jr. and Larry, both of North Carolina, and Kenneth of Elliottsburg; two stepdaughters, Mary Lou Dudley Newport and Janet Goodling of Millerstown; and grand- and great-grandchildren.
Services were held July 3 in Myers Funeral Home, Newport. Burial was in Newport Cemetery.
