Born Aug. 29, 1919, in Mercersburg, Pa., he was the son of the late Harry G. Garner Sr. and J. Irene Brinkley Garner.

He had been employed at Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg, for 34 years, retiring in 1976. He then worked at Spirit of Christ Community Church, Chambersburg, as a custodian.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and received the Purple Heart.

He was a member of Spirit of Christ Community Church and was a deacon and usher.

He was a member of Mercersburg Sportsman's Association; Detrich-Brechbill Post 612 American Legion, St. Thomas, Pa.; Charles M. Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW, Chambersburg; Charles McCleary Post 78 Disabled American Veterans, Chambersburg; and Full Gospel Business Men's Fellowship. He volunteered at Chambersburg Hospital.

He is survived by his wife, Maxine Nelling Shields Garner, whom he married Oct. 26, 1969; three sons, Carl Garner of Waynesboro, Pa., Thomas Garner of Orrstown, Pa., and Charles D. Garner Jr. of Fayetteville, Pa.; two stepdaughters, Sally George of Chambersburg and Karen Fuller of St. Thomas; a stepson, Kenneth Shields of St. Thomas; three sisters, Mildred Shatzer of Dillsburg, Pa., Marie North of Spring Run, Pa., and Helen Yoder of Fayetteville; three brothers, Frank E. Garner of Hagerstown, Robert G. Garner of Sanger, Texas, and Harry G. Garner Jr.; eight grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister and three brothers.

Services will be Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at Spirit of Christ Community Church, Chambersburg. The Rev. W. Russ Lee will officiate. Burial will be in St. Thomas Cemetery with military services by Detrich-Brechbill Post 612 American Legion, St. Thomas.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, Chambersburg; and Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.

Memorial donations may be sent to Spirit of Christ Community Church, 1985 Wenger Lane, Chambersburg, PA 17201.

Q. Brooks Lauthers

NEWVILLE, Pa. - Q. Brooks Lauthers, 80, of Green Ridge Village, and formerly of East Waterford, Pa., Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Saturday, Jan. 8, 2000, at Carlisle (Pa.) Hospital.

Born Oct. 30, 1919, in East Waterford, he was the son of the late Charles B. and Grace I. Diven Lauthers.

His wife, Frances A. Morrison Lauthers, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died in 1984.

He was a 1939 graduate of Dry Run (Pa.) High School and received his master's degree in education from Shippensburg (Pa.) State Teachers College.

An elementary school teacher for 29 years, he taught in Newport, Pa., and the Juniata and Perry County areas, retiring in 1982. He owned and operated a farm.

He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.

He was a member of Upper Tuscarora Presbyterian Church, Waterloo, Pa.

He was a member of McCartney Post 232 American Legion, Dry Run, and Public School Employee Retired Systems.

He is survived by a daughter, Connie M. Zacher of Buffalo, N.Y.; a special friend, Evelyn S. Holtry of Orrstown, Pa.; and a grandchild.

He was preceded in death by a brother.

Services will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Upper Tuscarora Presbyterian Church, Waterloo. The Revs. Alice M. Melloy and Clyde R. Brown will officiate. Burial will be in Upper Tuscarora Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Waterloo.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at John L. Agett Funeral Home, Dry Run; and Wednesday from 9 to 10 a.m. at the church.

Linda J. Faust

GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Linda Jean Faust, 52, of 54-B N. Carlisle St., Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Monday, Jan. 10, 2000, at her home.

Born Sept. 22, 1947, in Waynesboro, Pa., she was the daughter of the late John L. and Esther P. Davis Faust.

She was a 1966 graduate of James Buchanan High School.

She was a homemaker.

She was a Protestant.

She is survived by two sons, Roger David Faust of Chambersburg, Pa., and Samuel Elvis Faust of Fayetteville, Pa.; four sisters, Helen May Faust, Arlene Faye Lehman and Frances Shirley Wagaman, all of Chambersburg, and Mary Anne Davis of Waynesboro; five brothers, John Leon Faust of Fort Littleton, Pa., Richard H. Faust of St. Thomas, Pa., Harvey D. Faust of Chambersburg, William H. Faust of Waynesboro, and Joseph O. Faust of Alburtis, Pa.; nieces and nephews.

Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Miller-Grove Funeral Home, 521 S. Washington St., Greencastle. The Rev. David G. Rawley will officiate. Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

William E. Wilhide

LAPEER, Mich. - William E. Wilhide, 69, of 5626 Davison Road, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died of heart failure Friday, Jan. 7, 2000, at Lapeer Regional Hospital.

Born Oct. 18, 1930, in Waynesboro, Pa., he was the son of Evelyn B. Calimer Wilhide Woodring of Waynesboro, and the late William M. Wilhide.

He was a 1949 graduate of Waynesboro High School.

He was employed for Landis Tool Co., Waynesboro, for many years and then transferred to the Detroit office in 1990. He worked for the company for the past 37 years.

He served in the U.S. Army with the rank of sergeant during the Korean War.

He attended Trinity United Methodist Church, Lapeer.

He was a member of North American Hunting Club, Buck Masters, Texas Trophy Hunters and Michigan United Conservation Club.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Marian Spencer Wilhide, whom he married Oct. 17, 1992; three daughters, Cynthia Wilhide Styles of Germantown, Md., Elli Swink of Damascus, Md., and Susan Wilhide Gossert of Waynesboro; a son, William M. Wilhide of Falling Waters, W.Va.; two stepchildren, Mark Simmonds and Rochelle Simmonds, both of Davison, Mich.; a sister, Roberta Lanehart of Greencastle, Pa.; two brothers, Jack Wilhide of York, Pa., and David Wilhide of Statesville, N.C.; two stepbrothers, Leroy Woodring of Waynesboro and Frank Woodring of Somerset, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Debra J. Miller, on Jan. 9, 1996.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Calvary Assembly of God Church, 116 Snider Ave., Waynesboro. The Rev. Walter A. Stuart will officiate. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro.

Military graveside services will be conducted by the Honor Guard of the Charles Nitterhouse VFW Post 1599, Chambersburg.

Paul J. Junkin

DRY RUN, Pa. - Paul Johnston Junkin, 95, of 18482 Path Valley Road, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Sunday, Jan. 9, 2000, at Chambersburg (Pa.) Hospital.

Born Dec. 6, 1904, in Doylesburg, Pa., he was the son of the late John Johnston and Ena Irene Smith Junkin.

His wife, Sarah K. Shields Junkin, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died July 20, 1996. They were married June 18, 1930.

He was a self-employed farmer in the Path Valley, Pa., area for many years before his retirement. He also worked for eight years as a PennDot road supervisor and had been employed at Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg.

He was a member of Spring Run United Methodist Church, Spring Run, Pa.

He was a member of Orrstown Lodge 282 F.&A.M., Orrstown, Pa.

He is survived by three daughters, Sara Umbrell of Doylesburg, Mary Swartz of Newberg, Pa., and Ruth Ross of Bellwood, Pa.; a son, Thomas Junkin of Willow Hill, Pa.; a brother, Rev. Wendell S. Junkin of New Cumberland, Pa.; a foster sister, Verna Martin of Greencastle, Pa.; 14 grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, David Junkin; a sister, a brother and a grandson.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Spring Run United Methodist Church, Spring Run. The Revs. Karl R. Herman and John E. Semple will officiate. Burial will be in Upper Path Valley Cemetery, Fannett Township, Pa.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at John L. Agett Funeral Home, Dry Run, and Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church.
