Daniel J. Androchek

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Daniel J. Androchek, 73, of Glen Street, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Thursday, July 1, 1999, at Chambersburg Hospital, Chambersburg.

Born April 13, 1926, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Jacob and Anna Otremba Androchek.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Dee-Young Androchek, in 1979.

He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Navy.

He served in the U.S. Navy for 22 years, retiring in 1966. He then was employed at Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg, retiring in 1984. Following his retirement from Letterkenny, he was employed by the Franklin County Area on Aging, Chambersburg.

He was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church, Fayetteville, Pa.

He was a life member of Charles M. Nitterhouse, VFW Post No. 1599, Chambersburg; a member of Burt J. Asper American Legion Post No. 46, Chambersburg; and Hume, McNeal, Byers AmVets Post No. 224, Chambersburg.

He is survived by his second wife, Naomi R. Kendall Androchek, whom he married Sept. 4, 1982; a son, Brian D. Androchek of Philadelphia; a stepdaughter, Rose M. Welsh of Chambersburg; three stepsons, Gordon E. Welsh and Mark E. Welsh, both of St. Thomas, Pa. and Melvin L. Welsh Jr. of Chambersburg; 10 step grandchildren; and four step great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Debbie MacNeill in January 1999; a son; and a sister.

Services will be Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Rev. Paul B. Baker will officiate. Burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery, Chambersburg, with military graveside services conducted by members of Charles M. Nitterhouse Post No. 1599 VFW Honor Guard.

Visitation will be today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home; and Saturday one hour before the services at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made to American Heart Association, Franklin/Fulton Division, 225 E. King St., Chambersburg, PA 17201.

Fannie E. Oberholzer

NEW OXFORD, Pa. - Fannie E. Oberholzer, 86, of Cross Keys Brethren Home, and formerly of Tyrone Street, Greencastle, Pa., Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Tuesday, June 29, 1999, at Cross Keys.

Born Oct. 21, 1912, in Franklin County, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Jacob and Linnie Kriner Oberholzer.

She had worked as a seamstress at Windsor Stocking Co., ASBA and GEM Garment Co., all formerly of Greencastle. She also had worked at the Stanley Co. of Chambersburg, Pa.; and Dorbey Garment Co., Hagerstown.

She was a member of Shank's Church of the Brethren near Greencastle.

She was a former member of Greencastle AARP No. 3025; and had attended Senior Center of Greencastle.

She is survived by four sisters, Mary A. Martin of Waynesboro, Pa., Frances M. Nicarry and Helen I. Gamby, both of Chambersburg, and Ethel G. Oberholzer of Cross Keys Village, New Oxford; nieces; nephews; great-nieces; and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, William W. Oberholzer, Glenn G. Oberholzer and Harold H. Oberholzer.

Services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Shank's Church of the Brethren on Shank's Church Road, Greencastle. The Revs. David Stahl and John Shelly Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in the adjoining church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Saturday at 1 p.m. at the church.

Memorial donations may be made to Frances Leiter Center, 248 S. Fourth St., Chambersburg, PA 17201; or Alzheimers Association, Southcentral Pennsylvania Chapter, Building 2, Suite 321, 2001 N. Front St., Harrisburg, PA 17102.

Vergie E. Weaver

GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Vergie E. Weaver, 84, of 265 N. Hospital.

Born May 23, 1915, in Coseytown, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Harry C. and Eva Iola Smith Burkett.

Her husband, Howard P. Weaver, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died in 1984. They were married Feb. 18, 1934.

She was a homemaker.

She was a member of Pleasant Hill United Brethren Church in Greencastle.

She also was a member of Coseytown Homemakers; Greencastle Chapter of AARP 3025; National AARP, and Greencastle Senior Citizens.

She is survived by one daughter, Betty E. Hykes of Waynesboro; four sons, Donald P. Weaver of Mercersburg, Pa., H. Leon Weaver of Hagerstown, Ronald D. Weaver of Huntingdon, Pa., and Leonard W. Weaver of Keedysville; four sisters, Nellie I. Stoner of Fayetteville, Pa., R. Marie Buffenmyer of Tucson, Ariz., M. Gladys Benchoff of Denton, Md., and Pauline V. Matson of Greencastle; three brothers, Paul H. Burkett of Girdletree, Md., John R. Burkett of Hagerstown, and George V. Burkett of Greencastle; 18 grandchildren; one stepgranddaughter; 19 great-grandchildren; four stepgreat-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one son, Harold E. Weaver; two sisters, Thelma Burkett and Alice Scott; and four brothers, Woodrow Burkett, Robert Burkett, Franklin Burkett and Thomas Burkett.

Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Pleasant Hill United Brethren Church, 3664 Coseytown Road, Greencastle, The Revs. James C. Mack and John W. Shubert will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill United Brethren Church Cemetery in Greencastle.

The family will receive friends at Miller-Grove Funeral Home, 521 S. Washington St., Greencastle, today from 7 to 9 p.m.; and at the church Friday at 10 a.m.

Norman E. Lehman

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Norman E. Lehman, 88, of 110 Village Square and formerly of Tallow Hill Road, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Tuesday, June 29, 1999, at his home.

Born Aug. 29, 1910, in Scotland, Pa., he was the son of the late Peter L. and Alice Frey Lehman.

He had been employed at the feed mill in Scotland. He then operated a dairy farm and later a poultry farm in Chambersburg, retiring in 1983.

He was a member of Chambersburg Mennonite Church, where he had taught Sunday school. Earlier, he and his wife attended and helped establish Rock Hill Mennonite Church, McConnellsburg, Pa.

He is survived by his wife, Lydia E. Wadel Lehman, whom he married May 3, 1934; a son, Dale E. Lehman of Sarasota, Fla.; a sister, Mae Shank of Menno Haven, Chambersburg; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother.

Services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Chambersburg Mennonite Church. The Revs. Jerry Roth, Preston Frey and Samuel Troyer will officiate. Burial will be in Chambersburg Mennonite Cemetery, Chambersburg.

Visitation will be Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, Chambersburg; and Saturday at 9 a.m. at the church.

The family requests the omission of flowers. Memorial donations may be made to Chambersburg Mennonite Church, 1800 Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg, PA 17201.

Jesse A. Cavender

WARFORDSBURG, Pa. - Jesse A. Born June 29, 1941, in Oldtown, Md., he was the son of Mary Catherine Willes Cavender of Greencastle, Pa., and the late Granville Cavender.

He was a 1959 graduate of Hancock High School.

He was a self-employed sawmill and excavation operator.

He was a member of Calvery Bible Church in Berkeley Springs.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Sandra Joane Keefer Cavender, whom he married Sept. 18, 1962; three daughters, Christina Lynn Burgan and Lisa Sharlene Wills, both of Hancock, and Cynthia Diane Cavender of Long Beach, N.Y.; two sons, Granville Booth Cavender of Warfordsburg and David Laverty of Harrisburg, Pa.; two sisters, Betty Smith and Linda Golden, both of Cumberland, Md.; four brothers, Harold Cavender of Clear Spring, Russell Cavender of Hustontown, Pa., Michael Cavender of Hagerstown and Denny Cavender of Greencastle, Pa.; and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Catherine Knox.

Services will be Thursday at 9 a.m. at Amaranth Church of the Brethren, Amaranth. Pastor Mervil Stambaugh will officiate. Burial will be in the adjoining church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 141 W. Main St., Hancock; and Thursday at 8 a.m. at the church. The funeral home will be open today from noon.
