Born Aug. 16, 1918, near Greencastle, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Carrie Sheffler Honodel.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ordean N. "Dean" Miller, in 1992. They were married in 1948.

She attended Plain Hill School near Waynesboro.

She was last employed by Anthony Wayne Hotel, Waynesboro, in housekeeping. She previously was employed at Pangborn Corp. in Hagerstown, and at Waynesboro Knitting Mill.

She was a member of Joe Stickell American Legion Post 15, Ladies Auxiliary, Waynesboro.

She is survived by two daughters, Darlene F. Stouffer of Waynesboro and Sherry L. Brown of Shepherdstown, W.Va.; one son, Grover Dean Miller of Waynesboro; one sister, G. Anna Mae Stouffer of Funkstown; five grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by four brothers, Robert L. Honodel, C. Richard Honodel, Ralph Honodel Jr., and Harry F. Honodel.

Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro. The Rev. Lin M. Smalec will officiate. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.

The family will receive friends Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made to Summit Home Health, 176 Coldbrook Ave., Chambersburg, PA 17201; or Waynesboro Ambulance Squad, 48 S. Potomac St., Waynesboro, PA 17268.

James S. Stackhouse

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - James S. "Jim" Stackhouse, 84, of 727 Warm Spring Road, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Saturday, April 3, 1999, at his home after a brief illness.

Born Jan. 1, 1915, in Berwick, Pa., he was the son of the late William E. and Hazel Shannon Stackhouse.

He retired in 1980 from the Security Police Force at Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg, with a combined federal service of 37 years.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1933 to 1936, and during World War II in the Pacific Theater, participating in the Northern Solomons and Guadualcanal Campaigns at the rank of sergeant.

He is survived by one daughter, Sally S. Ewan of Chambersburg; one step-daughter, Jacklyn Andersch of Toms River, N.J.; three grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one sister.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Pine Grove Cemetery, Berwick. The Rev. William Patterson will officiate.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Robert G. Sellers Funeral Home, 297 Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg.

Phyllis W. Patterson

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Phyllis Winchell Patterson, 84, of ManorCare Nursing Home, Chambersburg, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Friday, April 2, 1999, at Chambersburg Hospital, Chambersburg.

Born Oct. 16, 1914, in West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Nanetta Smith Patterson.

She retired in 1979 from Delaware State Penal System as a dietitian.

She was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Hagerstown.

She is survived by one brother, Kenneth Patterson of Hagerstown; one niece and three nephews.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Myrtle Patterson Barkdoll.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown. The Rev. David B. Kaplan will officiate.

There will be no viewing.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Byron E. Wingert

LINWOOD, N.J. - Byron Edward Wingert, 86, of Linwood, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Saturday, April 3, 1999, at his home.

He was born in Fayetteville, Pa.

He worked for Fairchild Aircraft as a maintenance supervisor and also owned and operated Somers Point Kennel, in New Jersey until 1978.

He was a volunteer at Shore Memorial Hospital since 1978.

He is survived by his wife, Helen M. Myers Wingert; two daughters, Nancy R. Rubin of Linwood, and Ann E. Minton of Somers Point; one sister, Paula Martin of Chambersburg; one brother, Daniel Wingert of Baltimore; seven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son, Donald Edward Wingert.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held Tuesday at 8:30 p.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Roman Catholic Church, Poplar and Wabash Avenues, Linwood. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the church. A minion service will be held Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Rubin residence.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Sorrows Church, Poplar and Wabash Avenues, Linwood, N.J. 08221 or Beth Israel Synagogue, 2501 Shore Road, Northfield, N.J. 08221.

Belle L. Shockey

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Belle Linn Shockey, 91, of Quincy United Methodist Home and formerly of Chambersburg, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Thursday, April 1, 1999, in Quincy after a serious illness of one month.

Born March 14, 1908, in Lee's Crossroad's, Pa., she was the daughter of the late William and Charlotte Duncan Brinkerhoff.

She is survived by one daughter, Linda Leidig of Chambersburg; one son, Ret. Lt. Col. Gary L. Shockey of Redland, Calif.; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Lincoln Cemetery. The Rev. Donald Nolder and the Rev. Diane Salter will officiate.

There will be no viewing.

Memorial contributions may be made to Quincy United Methodist Home, 6596 Orphanage Road, Quincy, PA 17247 or First United Methodist Church, 225 South 2nd Street, Chambersburg, PA 17201.
