MCCONNELLSBURG, Pa. - Chalmer LeRoy Hann, 74, of RD1 Box 282, McConnellsburg, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Monday, March 1, 1999, at Fulton County Medical Center, McConnellsburg.

Born Jan. 15, 1924, in Needmore, Pa., he was the son of the late Charley D.E. and L.M. Irene Mellott Hann.

He was employed at Letterkenny Army Depot as a welder for 30 years.

He served in the U.S. Army in the European Theater.

He was of the Methodist faith.

He is a member of VFW Post 6241, American Legion Post 830, both in Mercersburg, The NRA and North American Hunting Club.

He is survived by his wife, Janet Hockensmith Hann, whom he married in 1948; four daughters, Norma DeShong of McConnellsburg, Cynthia Ketchens of Hagerstown; Cathy McDaniel of Harrisonville, Pa., and Roberta Waumbaugh of Hellam Pa.; two sons, Charles M. Hann of Gallitzin, Pa., and Joseph P. Hann of McConnellsburg; one sister, Maxine McClure of North Carolina; three brothers, Veryl Hann, Norman Hann, and Herman Hann, all of Needmore; 14 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by two brothers.

Services, with military services by Fulton Honor Guard, will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Sipes Funeral Home, Harrisonville. The Rev. Donald Bard will officiate. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.

The family will receive friends today from 2 to 4 p.m. at Sipes Funeral Home.

Ethel M. Kaiser

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Ethel Mae Kaiser, 74, of 11701 Woodlea Drive, Waynesboro, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Wednesday, Feb. 24, 1999, at her home.

Born June 1, 1924, in Big Vane, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Robie and Snow Bell Fowler Fearn.

She was preceded in death by her husband, I. Howard Kaiser, M.D., in 1991. They were married in 1953.

She was a 1946 honors graduate of St. Elizabeth's School of Nursing, Washington, D.C.

Prior to her marriage, she was employed at St. Elizabeth's Hospital as a R.N.

She was a member of Congregation Sons of Israel, Chambersburg, Pa., Daughters of Israel, and National AARP.

She is survived by two daughters, Janice Kaiser Leonard of Waynesboro, and Linda Kaiser Middour of Springfield, Va.; three sons, Lee Kaiser of Oceanside, Calif., Dr. Michael Kaiser of Silver Spring, Md., and Brian Kaiser of Howes Cave, N.Y.; one sister, June Merrill of Sterling, Va., one brother, Wayne Fearn of Rancho Cordova, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; and two stepgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by four brothers; and one granddaughter.

Graveside services were held Thursday, Feb. 25, in Sons of Israel Cemetery, Chambersburg.

Memorial donations can be made to Sons of Israel Synagogue, 209 E. King St., Chambersburg, PA 17201; or to Hospice of the Good Shepherd, 2700 Luther Drive, Chambersburg, PA 17201.

Ernest W. Shade Jr.

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Ernest W. "Ernie" Shade Jr., 60, of 125 Frick Ave., Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Monday, March 1, 1999, at his home.

Born Oct. 27, 1938, in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late Ernest W. and Blanche Anna Hofsass Shade Sr.

He was a 1957 graduate of Waynesboro High School.

He had been employed by the borough of Waynesboro and by Martz Plumbing and Heating, Waynesboro. Most recently, he was self-employed as a plumber and handyman.

He was a member of National AARP.

He served in the U.S. Army.

He is survived by his wife, Kathryn M. Rock Wright Shade, whom he married July 31, 1983; a stepson, Curtis L. Wright of Waynesboro; four sisters, Audrey Eshleman and Linda Hovis, both of Waynesboro, his twin sister, Alice Provard of York, Pa., and Cynthia Miller of Lompoc, Calif.; two brothers, Donald E. Shade and Truster Shade, both of Waynesboro; a stepgrandson; nieces and nephews.

Services will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro. Pastor James T. Williams will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery, near Quincy, Pa.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Edna M. Tarner

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Edna M. Tarner, 70, of Falling Spring Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, and formerly of 794 Cleveland Ave. and 652 Guilford Ave., the home of her daughter, Deborah Hafer, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Tuesday, March 2, 1999, at the center.

Born May 10, 1928, in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Zoa Ella Martin Johnston.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert D. Tarner, in 1988.

She had been employed for 16 years at the former Blake Martin Grocery, Chambersburg. She was employed at J. Schoeneman Co., Chambersburg, at Tice's Diner in St. Thomas, Pa., and at the former A&P in Chambersburg.

She was a member of First Church of God, Chambersburg.

She received awards for her cooking.

She is survived by two daughters, Deborah A. Hafer and Donna L. Shipe; a son, Ralph "Jim" Johnston Jr.; and seven sisters, June Foreman, Dolores St. Clair, Peggy Shearer, Bonnie Byers, Patricia Spidel, Zoa R. Johnston and Constance Abbott, all of Chambersburg; and a grandson.

Services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at First Church of God, Chambersburg. The Rev. Trevor E. Rosenberry will officiate. Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg.

Visitation will be Thursday from noon to 1 p.m. at the church.

Memorial donations may be made to First Church of God, 339 Lincoln Way East, Chambersburg, PA 17201.

Arrangements are by Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, Chambersburg.

James M. Suffecool

MERCERSBURG, Pa. - James M. Suffecool, 88, of 6745 Little Cove Road, Mercersburg, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Monday, March 1, 1999, at his home.

Born July 4, 1910, in Little Cove, Pa., he was the son of the late Roy O. and Cora Weller Suffecool.

He was employed by Mercersburg Tannery for 30 years, retiring in 1964. He previously worked on area farms.

He was a member of Mount Zion Lutheran Church of Little Cove, and served on the church council.

He was Warren Township's auditor for over 24 years and he was a former Tuscarora School Board member. He also served as a Stone Church of Little Cove Trustee.

He is survived by his wife, Mabel Unger Suffecool, whom he married in 1940; two daughters, Nancy E. Shives of Berwick, Pa., and Joyce A. McDonald of Mercersburg; one brother, Clarence L. Suffecool; and nine grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one sister and three brothers.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. in Lininger-Fries Funeral Home, 47 N. Park Ave., Mercersburg. The Rev. Henry K. Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in Stone Church Cemetery of Little Cove.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made to Lutheran Home Care Services and designated to Home Care or Hospice, 2700 Luther Drive, Chambersburg, PA 17201.
