Born June 17, 1936, in Huntingdon, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Richard Harvey and Madeline Foster McQuait.

She was preceded in death by her former husband, Leroy E. Swope, in 1991.

She had been a waitress at Conrads Diner in Chambersburg; and a restoration aide at South Mountain Restoration Center prior to retiring in 1997.

She is survived by four daughters, Cindy Eileen Monn of Fayetteville, Tracy L. Wagner of East Berlin, Pa., Sherry L. Miller of Abbottstown, Pa., and Christy M. Swope of New Oxford, Pa.; a son, Jeffrey T. Swope of New Oxford; six sisters, Lenore Newman of Hustontown, Pa., Maxine Long and Darlene Woy, both of Chambersburg, Wanda Truax of Harrisonville, Pa., Marlene Wobles of Titusville, Fla. and Audrey Dulebohn of New Oxford; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by an infant son, Ricky V. Swope; a sister; and three brothers.

Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Pleasant Ridge Nazarene Church in Fulton County, Pa. The Rev. Frank Heidler and the Rev. Rick Stuempfle will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant Ridge Nazarene Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, 6492 Lincoln Way West, St. Thomas, Pa.; and Friday one hour prior to the service at the church. The funeral home will be open Thursday from 2 p.m.

Thelma G. Nagy

CARLISLE, Pa. - Thelma Grace Rutter Nagy, 84, a resident of The Thornwald Home, and formerly of 33 E. Farnum St., Lancaster, Pa., Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Sunday, Jan. 24, 1999, at the nursing home.

Born March 27, 1914, in Leola, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Raymond S. and Hilda V. Kulp Rutter.

She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Paul Nagy Jr., in 1958. They were married Sept. 21, 1935.

She was a 1932 graduate of Girl's High School in Lancaster.

She was employed as a bookkeeper by Hamilton Watch Credit Union, and then by Wheatland Credit Union, both of Lancaster. She retired in 1978 after 20 years of service.

She was a member of Saint Andrew United Church of Christ, Lancaster.

She was a member of Happy Hours Club in Lancaster; Mount Vernon Chapter 398; and Order of the Eastern Star, Waynesboro, Pa. She also served as a volunteer knitter for the American Red Cross in Lancaster, knitting more than 3000 caps.

She is survived by a daughter, Sandra N. Maxwell of Berwyn, Pa.; a son, Robert P. Nagy of Lancaster; two brothers, Kenneth G. Rutter of Conestoga, Pa., and Raymond K. Rutter of Baltimore; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be Friday at 11:30 a.m. at Harbaugh Church Cemetery at her husband's former church. The Rev. Jack M. Maxwell, her son-in-law, will officiate.

The family will receive friends Friday from 10 to 11 a.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Andrew United Church of Christ, 701 N. Lime St., Lancaster, PA 17602.

Claude A. Hepner Jr.

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Claude A. "Shorty" Hepner Jr., 70, of Chambersburg, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Tuesday, Jan. 26, 1999, at Falling Spring Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Chambersburg.

Born April 29, 1928, in Mount Jackson, Va., he was the son of the late Claude A. Sr. and Theresa Newland Hepner.

He was a laborer and salesman for U.S. Paper and Union Rescue Mission. He worked at the U.S. Paper mill as president of the union.

He was of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by his wife, Joanne L. Shockey Hepner; a daughter, Kathy Hepner Coldsmith of Shippensburg, Pa.; two sons, Gregory Hepner of Owasso, Okla., and Mark Hepner of Edwards Air Force Base, Calif.; two stepdaughters, Nancy Drenning Livengood of Mont Alto, Pa., and Suzanna Drenning Nixon of Bastrop, Texas; a sister, Colleen Hepner Davis of Baltimore; two half brothers, Robert Hepner of Woodstock, Va., and Gaylon Hepner of Edinburg, Va.; and 10 grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at Victory Baptist Church, 2175 Lincoln Way East, Chambersburg. Pastor David Gleyze will officiate. Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Garden at the convenience of the family.

Memorial donations may be made to Falling Spring Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, 201 Franklin Farm Lane, Chambersburg, PA 17201.

Arrangements are by Cremation Society of Pennsylvania, Harrisburg.

Pearl R. Faust

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Pearl R. Zellers Faust, 80, of Lewisburg, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Monday, Jan. 25, 1999, at Penn State-Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, Pa.

Born Sept. 15, 1918, in Mingoville, Pa., she was the daughter of the late John T. and Lydia M. Spangler Zellers.

She was a homemaker.

She was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ in Hublersburg, Pa.

She is survived by two daughters, Lois M. Kinney of Bloomsburg, Pa., and Janet M. Morgan of Keedysville; a son, James L. Faust of Bloomsburg; a brother, Lawrence Zellers of Bellefonte, Pa.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by sisters and brothers.

Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at W. Robert Neff Funeral Home, 837 Main St., Howard, Pa. The Rev. John S. Hench and the Rev. Marilyn Merrill will officiate. Burial will be in Hublersburg Cemetery, Walker Township, Pa.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Carroll Warner

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Rev. Carroll Warner, OFM Cap., 88, of Washington, D.C., Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Tuesday, Jan. 26, 1999, at Providence Hospital in Washington, D.C.

Born Aug. 3, 1910, in East Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Lawrence E. and Nellie Scanlon Warner.

He was a member of St. William Parish in East Pittsburgh.

He attended St. Fidelis Seminary in Herman, Pa., from 1924 to 1930, entering the Capuchin Franciscan Order and professing temporary vows in 1931. He was ordained to the priesthood in 1936.

He worked as a Catechetical instructor for outstation missions of St. Mary's Parish in Herman, Pa.; and then did parish work in Wheeling, W.Va., Atwood and Victoria, Kan., Cresaptown, Md., Rochester and Pittsburgh, Pa., and Roswell, Ohio.

He was a steady presence among the student friars in Washington, D.C. from 1973 to 1976 and again in his retirement years since 1988.

He is survived by three sisters, Dr. Mary P. Warner of Hagerstown, Rosella Spilman of Bethesda, Md., and Joan Kelly of Falls Church, Va.; and a brother, Paul G. Warner of Washington, D.C.

He was preceded in death by a brother, William Warner, in 1987.

The Rev. Paul Kuppe will celebrate a funeral Mass on Friday at 11 a.m. at St. Augustine Worship Site of Our Lady of the Angels Parish, 37th St., Pittsburgh. Brother Paul Dressier is the homilist. Burial will follow at the friars' plot of St. Augustine Cemetery, Millvale, Pa.

A special visitation and prayer service will be held at Capuchin College, Washington, D.C., today at 4:30 p.m.

A public viewing is possible on Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at St. Augustine Friar Chapel, 221-36th St. in the Lawrenceville section of Pittsburgh. The friars and friends will celebrate a wake service at 8 p.m. at the friary.

Cecil L. Goshorn

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Cecil L. Goshorn, 69, of 1048 Marvern Drive, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Tuesday, Jan. 26, 1999, at his home.

Born Feb. 5, 1929, in Huntingdon, Pa., he was the son of the late David B. and Helen Gifford Goshorn.

He retired in 1979, after 30 years with Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg. He then worked in the landscaping business and was employed by Franklin County Office of Aging.

He served in the U.S. Army in Germany.

He attended Chambersburg Bible Church in Chambersburg, and was a member of Berean Bible Class.

He was a member of Burt J. Asper Post 46 American Legion, and Charles M. Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW, both of Chambersburg.

He is survived by his wife, Pauline Rubeck Goshorn, whom he married Sept. 14, 1951; a daughter, Deborah Goshorn Stenger of Colorado Springs, Colo.; three sons, Gary L. Goshorn of Heidelberg, Germany, Robert L. Goshorn of Chambersburg and John L. Goshorn of Waynesboro, Pa.; a sister, Pauline Goshorn Wall of Chambersburg; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Jay W. Goshorn.

Services will be Monday at 10 a.m. at Chambersburg Bible Church, 810 Orchard Drive, Chambersburg. The Rev. John R. Springer and the Rev. David W. Kraft will officiate. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery, Chambersburg, with military graveside services by Charles M. Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW Honor Guard.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, Chambersburg; and Monday one hour prior to the service at the church.

Memorial donations may be made to Chambersburg Bible Church, 810 Orchard Drive, Chambersburg, PA 17201.
