LEAVENWORTH, Kan. - Greeba Bell Snook, 91, of Leavenworth, and formerly of Hagerstown, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Tuesday, Nov. 3, 1998, at her home.

Born Oct. 27, 1907, in Waynesboro, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Joseph Crebs and Caroline F. Trone Bell.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Maurice E. Snook, in 1987.

She was a homemaker.

She was of the Lutheran faith.

She is survived by one daughter, Barbara Whited of Leavenworth; one son, Maurice E. Snook Jr. of Athens, Ga.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three sisters.

Graveside services were held Friday, Nov. 6, at Round Prairie Cemetery, Leavenworth.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Leavenworth Public Library, Leavenworth, KS 66048-0136.

Arrangements are by Davis Funeral Chapel, Leavenworth.

Pauline L. Smith

QUINCY, Pa. - Pauline L. Sanders Smith, 90, a resident of Quincy United Methodist Home, and formerly of Hearthstone Retirement Home and of the Wayne Building in Waynesboro, Pa., Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Tuesday, Nov. 10, 1998, in the nursing home.

Born April 11, 1908, in Waynesboro, she was the daughter of the late Amos P. and Mary Catherine Woodring Sanders.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert L. Scott, in 1939, and by her second husband, Milfred E. Smith, in 1985.

During World War II, she was employed by Landis Machine Co. in Waynesboro. She later was employed at Sherman's as a cashier for 21 years.

She was a member of Waynesboro Presbyterian Church.

She was a member of Quincy United Methodist Home Auxiliary and a former member of North Chapter 2977 AARP.

She was active with Hemlock Girl Scouts and volunteered with the food center of the Senior Citizens Center on West North Street, Waynesboro.

She is survived by one daughter, Roberta Rae Shank of Waynesboro; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Anna M. Mowen and Ethel Gladhill; and one brother, Abram F. Sanders.

Services will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro. The Rev. Charles B. Jessen will officiate. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery in Waynesboro.

The family will receive friends Thursday, one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

The family requests the omission of flowers. Memorial contributions may be made to Benevolent Fund of Quincy United Methodist Home, P.O. Box 120, Quincy, PA 17247; or to Waynesboro Presbyterian Church, 105 E. Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17268.

Herbert W. Baker

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Herbert W. Baker, 85, of 5350 Salem Church Road, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Monday, Nov. 9, 1998, at his home.

Born May 23, 1913, in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late Chalice Whitmore and Mattie Louisa Weybright Baker.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Adelia Russell Gift Baker, in 1960. They were married April 26, 1943.

He graduated from Smithsburg High School in 1931. He attended South Dakota State College, majoring in agricultural engineering. He graduated from the University of Maryland in 1938 with a bachelor of arts degree in English and a minor in history.

In 1935, he joined the Civilian Conservation Corps as a technical student on soil conservation and erosion control projects.

He owned and operated the family farm, retiring in 1993.

He had worked with the War Assets Administration at Letterkenny Army Depot and instructed a class of service veterans training in agricultural production.

In 1958, he ran in the Democratic Primary for representative to Congress from the former 18th Congressional District.

He was a member of the U.S. Army/Air Corps during World War II, serving in the Southwest Pacific Theater.

He was a member of Unitarian Universalist Church, Hagerstown, and was a member and former president of the board.

He was a member of South Central Pennsylvania and Maryland Pork Producers Associations and Virginia Forage and Grassland Council.

He is survived by two daughters, Martha B. Amrhein of Waynesboro and Dena B. Heefner of Manchester, Md.; five grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Katherine B. Bromley and Irene B. Walker.

Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro. Pastor Valerie Wills will officiate. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society, 452 E. King St., Chambersburg, PA 17201; or Hospice of the Good Shepherd, 2700 Luther Drive, Chambersburg, PA 17201.

Emory E. Newcomer

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Emory E. Newcomer, 81, of 4711 Buchanan Trail East, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Monday, Nov. 9, 1998, at the family farm on Hades Church Road in Shady Grove, Pa. His death was unexpected and attributed to a massive heart attack.

Born Sept. 29, 1917, in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late Ervin Emory and Mary Welty Newcomer.

He was employed first as a mechanic at Letterkenny Army Depot in Chambersburg, Pa., and then at Fort Ritchie in Cascade. He retired in 1972 with 30 years service with the federal government.

He enjoyed working on Volkswagens and farming.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ruth A. Strausner Newcomer; two daughters, Dorothy L. Newcomer and Judith A. Reed, both of Waynesboro; one son, Robert L. Newcomer of Waynesboro; four sisters, Florence Mentzer of Chambersburg, Jane Frye of Ligonier, Pa., Ann Leal of California and Frances Betts of Waynesboro; three brothers, Martin Newcomer, James Newcomer and Roy Newcomer, all of Waynesboro; three grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Dorothy Ohler, in 1960.

Services will be held Friday at 1:30 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St. in Waynesboro. The Rev. John F. Huff will officiate. Burial will be in Price's Church Cemetery in Waynesboro.

The family will receive friends Thursday, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Daniel W. Long

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Daniel W. Long, 88, of 840-A Menno Village, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Sunday, Nov. 8, 1998, at Menno Haven.

Born July 8, 1910, in Waynesboro, Pa., he was the son of the late John B. and N. Esther Wooster Long.

He graduated from Waynesboro Public Schools. He graduated from Gettysburg College in 1932; and the University of Pennsylvania Law School in 1935.

Admitted to practice law in 1935, he practiced in Chambersburg, with the exception of his war time service, until his retirement in 1998. Since 1946, he was a member of the firm of Wingerd and Long. He had been was Chambersburg Borough Solicitor; County Solicitor from 1943-1944; and had been director and solicitor for Valley Bank and Trust Co. and its predecessors.

A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Active in civic organizations, he had been a director and president of Childrens' Aid Society of Franklin County, Pa.; director and past president of Chambersburg Chamber of Commerce; member and past president of Chambersburg Rotary Club; was active in the organization of Chambersburg Community Chest, now the United Way; and was a director of the Salvation Army in Chambersburg.

He was a member of Burt J. Asper Post 46 American Legion; and Charles Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW.

He is survived by his wife, Marie Kepner Long; two daughters, Phyllis L. Gressens of Blacksburg, Va., and Mary L. Booth of Nokomis, Fla.; and four granddaughters.

Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 26 W. Commerce St. The Rev. Neal O. Hively will officiate. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro, at the convenience of the family.

The family requests the omission of flowers.

Memorial donations may be made to Childrens' Aid Society of Franklin County, 225 Miller St., Chambersburg, PA 17201.

Arrangements are by Robert G. Sellers Funeral Home, Chambersburg.

Calvin P. Duvall

MERCERSBURG, Pa. - Calvin P.
