Hershey Medical Center, Hershey, Pa.

Born Oct. 29, 1930, in Lemasters, Pa., she was the daughter of the late William A. and Elnora E. Pine Straley.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clayton Ray Wilson, in 1976.

She was a homemaker.

She was a member of Greencastle Church of God.

She is survived by two daughters, Frances I. Wilson of Greencastle and Betty Jean Abrell of Bunker Hill, W.Va.; two sons, Clair R. Wilson of Mercersburg, Pa., and William A. Wilson of Chambersburg, Pa.; four sisters, Mary Deshong of Greencastle, Hazel Long of Lemasters, Pa., and Grace Winegardner and Phyllis Henry, both of Hustontown, Pa.; one brother, Roy E. Straley of St. Thomas, Pa.; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, two brothers and one grandson.

Services will be Monday at 10 a.m. in Greencastle Church of God. The Rev. Floyd E. Myers will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Greencastle.

A viewing will be Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Lininger-Fries Funeral Home, 47 N. Park Ave., Mercersburg; and Monday, one hour prior to services at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to American Diabetes Association, c/o Joan Goetz, 219 W. Second St., Waynesboro, PA 17268.

Wayne V. Jones

SAINT THOMAS, Pa. - Wayne V. Jones, 59, of Saint Thomas, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Thursday, Nov. 12, 1998, at ManorCare Nursing Home, Chambersburg, Pa.

Born Nov. 2, 1939, in Mercersburg, Pa., he was the son of Helen Deshong Jones of Chambersburg and the late Clair Jones.

In the 1960s, he owned and operated the then Atlantic Gas Station and Garage on Lincoln Way East, Chambersburg. He worked in the maintenance shop at Letterkenny Army Depot and drove a delivery truck for Suburban Propane.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by two sons, Brian L. Jones of Drexel Hill, Pa., and Robert W. Jones of Chambersburg; a sister, Betty Covert of Saint Thomas; a brother, Ronald Jones of Saint Thomas; a grandson; his former wife, Janet Zullinger Jones of Chambersburg; nieces and nephews.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Jones.

Memorial services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Presbyterian Church of Shippensburg, 12 S. Prince St., Shippensburg, Pa. Pastor John Berstecher will officiate.

The family will receive friends Sunday after the service in the church social hall.

Memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society, 452 E. King St., Chambersburg, PA 17201; or Presbyterian Church of Shippensburg, 12 S. Prince St., Shippensburg, PA 17257.

Arrangements are by Cumberland Valley Crematory, Waynesboro.

Russell K. Bender

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Russell K. Bender, 97, a resident at ManorCare Health Services, and formerly of 840 S. 4th St., Chambersburg, and 5079 Yohe Road, Waynesboro, Pa., Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Wednesday, Nov. 11, 1998, at ManorCare Health Services, Chambersburg.

Born Oct. 30, 1901, in Marion, Pa., he was the son of the late John K. and Lula M. Lemaster Bender.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Elsie V. Mummert Bender, in 1982.

He was employed at the former Hoffman-Minnich Dairy, Chambersburg, and then as a milk deliveryman by the former Dairimaid, Chambersburg, retiring after 21 years. He subsequently worked at Chambersburg YMCA and was employed part time at the Butcher Shoppe, Chambersburg.

He was a member of King Street United Brethren Church, Chambersburg, had been an usher and treasurer of Men's Brotherhood.

He is survived by a daughter, Lois I. Tipton of Gainsville, Fla.; a son, Donald E. Bender of Waynesboro; a brother, Lloyd Bender of Fayetteville, Pa.; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers.

Services will be Sunday at 2:30 p.m. in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Rev. Patrick B. Jones and the Rev. K. Allan Mummert will officiate. Burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery, Chambersburg.

The viewing will be Sunday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made to King Street United Brethren Church, 172 E. King St., Chambersburg, PA 17201.

Z. Louise Eckels

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Z. Louise Eckels, 78, of 1021 Blanchard Ave., Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Wednesday, Nov. 11, 1998, at Chambersburg Hospital.

Born May 16, 1920, in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of the late Garnet and Eva V. Crider Tarner.

She was a homemaker. Early in her life, she was employed at Gray Line Hosiery, Chambersburg.

She was a member of King Street United Brethren Church, Chambersburg, a member of Women's Missionary Fellowship and had done Home Visitation.

She was a member of the auxiliary at Piney Mountain, Fayetteville, Pa.; and Chambersburg Mall Walkers Club. She and her husband volunteered with Meals on Wheels of Chambersburg.

She is survived by her husband, Jack H. Eckels, whom she married Oct. 19, 1939; two daughters, Bonita Engle of Marysville, Pa., and Jacky Martin of Hagerstown; a son, John H. Eckels of Waynesboro, Pa.; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a sister; two brothers; and her grandmother, Sophia Crider, who had raised her.

Services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Rev. Lester F. Stine and the Rev. Paul B. Baker will officiate. Burial will be in Norland Cemetery, Chambersburg.

The viewing will be today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home; and Saturday one hour prior to the service.

Mark D. Kauffman

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Mark D. "Buddy" Kauffman, 55, of 9233 Gap Road, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Thursday, Nov. 12, 1998, at his home.

Born Sept. 21, 1943, in South Mountain, Pa., he was the son of the late David and Naomi Wagaman Kauffman.

He attended schools in South Mountain and Quincy, Pa.

Early in his life, he was employed as a machinist at Frick Co., Waynesboro. He then worked as a machinist at Mack Truck, Hagerstown. Prior to retiring on disability in September 1997, he was employed in the maintenance department of Quincy Township.

He was a member of Blue Rock United Brethren in Christ Church, Tomstown, Pa.

He was a social member of William Max McLaughlin VFW Post 695, Waynesboro.

He is survived by his wife, Jenny L. Ridgely Kauffman, whom he married Jan. 13, 1963; two daughters, Naomi M. Brake of Waynesboro and Donna L. Hartman of Quincy; a son, Donald M. Kauffman of Waynesboro; two sisters, Arlene Shearer of Mont Alto, Pa., and Anna Carbaugh of Waynesboro; two brothers, Howard Kauffman of South Mountain and Glenn Kauffman of South Carolina; five grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by five sisters, Shirley Kauffman, Lorraine Kauffman, Eleanor Bakner, Pauline Byers and Geraldine Patterson; and four brothers, Earl Kauffman, Eugene Kauffman, Thomas Kauffman and Percy Kauffman.

Services will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro. Pastor Jay M. Bartle will officiate. Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg, Pa.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

H. Rick Kees

KINGSTON, Pa. - H. Rick Kees, 30, of 28 Vaughn St., formerly of Shippensburg, Pa., Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Wednesday, Nov. 11, 1998, at home.

Born May 2, 1968, in Martinsburg, W.Va., he was the son of Patricia A. Shane Rhinehart of Shippensburg and the late Andrew M. Kees Sr.

He was a 1986 graduate of James Buchanan High School, Mercersburg, Pa.

He was employed by Stormi Steel in Kingston and previously worked at Visual Addiction in Carlisle, Pa.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1986 to 1989, serving most of that time in Germany.

He was lead singer in his band, Shakey Jake, which performed in West Virginia, Pennsylvania and Maryland.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by two sisters, Penny A. Horner and Dawn R. Cummings, both of Shippensburg; one brother, Andrew M. Kees Jr.; maternal grandparents, Richard and Evelyn Shane of Martinsburg; his fiance, Tiffany Showers of Newville, Pa.; four nieces and three nephews; and aunts and uncles.

Services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, 112 W. King St. in Shippensburg. The Rev. Paul J. Kyllonen and the Rev. Elmer T. Kipe will officiate. Burial will be in Norland Cemetery, Greene Township, Franklin County, Pa. Graveside military services will be conducted by Shippensburg Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion posts.

Viewing will be Sunday, from 7 to 9 p.m., at the funeral home.
