Born Sept. 27, 1946, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of Helen Price Stahle of Buck Valley, Pa., and the late Cloyd Stahle.

She and her husband owned and operated Sideling Hill Amoco, Little Orleans, Md.

She was a member of Buck Valley Christian Church, Warfordsburg.

She was a member of Buck Valley Memorial Cemetery Association; and Buck Valley Park Association.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Ronald J. Hoopengardner, whom she married Oct. 10, 1970; four daughters, Justine E. Murray of Berkeley Springs, Jenna D. Hoopengardner, Jolene H. Hoopengardner and Jada J. Hoopengardner, all of Warfordsburg; a sister, Dianne Myers of Alyria, Ohio; and a grandson.

Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Buck Valley Christian Church. The Rev. Clint Bahrenburg and the Rev. Dennis Kletzing will officiate. Burial will be in the adjoining church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 141 W. Main St., Hancock; and Friday one hour prior to the service at the church. The funeral home will be open today from noon until 9 p.m.

Memorial donations may be made to Johns Hopkins Childrens Center, 600 N. Broadway St., Baltimore, MD 21205; or Orleans Volunteer Fire Co., Little Orleans, MD 21766.

Melvin R. Hagans

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - The Rev. Melvin R. Hagans, 76, of 97 Roland Ave., Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Monday, Nov. 23, 1998, at Harrisburg Hospital.

Born Sept. 18, 1922, in Stoystown, Pa., he was the son of the late Russell and Annie Croyle Hagans.

A coal miner in his early life, he was employed at L.E.A.D. for 23 years as a mechanic, retiring in 1976. He most recently worked as a clock repairman and gunsmith at his home.

He was a veteran of World War II.

He attended New Franklin Assembly of God Church.

He pioneered a church in Florida and pastored churches in Shade Gap and Orbisonia, Pa.

He was a member of Civilian Conservation Corps.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Wilkie Hagans; one daughter, Susan Burnham of Sanford, Fla.; one son, Larry Hagans of Chambersburg; two sisters, Ethel Berringer of Deland, Fla., and Ruth Giddens of Ormond Beach, Fla.; two brothers, Telford Hagans of Kantner, Pa., and Ronald Hagans of Clymer, Pa.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one sister.

Services will be Friday at 1 p.m. at New Franklin Assembly of God Church. The Rev. Philip Bongiorno and the Rev. Sean Hinton will officiate. Burial will be in Norland Cemetery.

Visitation will be at Robert G. Sellers Funeral Home, 297 Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg, on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m., and one hour prior to the service at the church.

Memorial donations may be made to New Franklin Assembly of God Church, 2355 New Franklin Road, Chambersburg, PA 17201.

Mary J. Keebaugh

MARIANNA, Fla. - Mary Jane Keebaugh, 78, of Marianna, Fla., Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Thursday, Nov. 19, 1998, at her home.

Born June 15, 1920, in Webster Mills, Pa., she was the daughter of the late George W. and M. Goldie Mellott Keefer.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Foster W. Keebaugh, in 1991.

She was of the Baptist faith.

She is survived by two daughters, Joyce Allen of Chattahoochee, Fla., and Carolyn Heisler of LaLuz, N.M.; one son, Dennis Keebaugh of Fayetteville, Ga.; four sisters, Esther Shipley of Waynesboro, Pa., Marie Stoner of Williamsport, Nellie Wishard of Waynesville, N.C., and Edna Funk of Greencastle, Pa.; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Services were held Sunday, Nov. 22, at Trinity Baptist Church in Marianna. Burial was in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens.

John R. Johnson

GREENCASTLE, Pa. - John R. Johnson, 52, of 3645 Brook St., Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Thursday, Nov. 26, 1998, at his home.

Born Dec. 31, 1945, in Hagerstown, he was the son of Doris T. Lowery Johnson of Greencastle, and the late Glenn A. Johnson.

He was a 1964 graduate of Greencastle-Antrim High School. He did volunteer work for Lutheran Social Service's Hospice of the Good Shepherd.

He was employed by Contech Construction Products Inc. in Greencastle for more than 20 years, and formerly employed by Grove Worldwide, Shady Grove, Pa.

He attended Life in Jesus Church, Libertytown, Md.

He was a member of Frank L. Carbaugh American Legion Post 373 in Greencastle, and AMVETS Post 224 in Chambersburg, Pa.

He served in the U.S. Air Force.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Ruby L. Rotz Johnson, whom he married Feb. 6, 1987; one daughter, Tammy Pratt of North Carolina; two sons, Craig Johnson of Waynesboro, Pa., and Jarrett Johnson of Chambersburg; one stepdaughter, Karen Robinson of Hagerstown; one stepson, Steven Horst of Waynesboro; one sister, Donna Lee Johnson of Greencastle; one brother, Terry G. Johnson of Greencastle; and six grandchildren.

Services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle. The Rev. Walter Stuart will officiate. Burial will be in Browns Mill Cemetery in Kauffman, Pa.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Saturday.

Thomas E. Gordon

ST. THOMAS, Pa. - Thomas E. Gordon, 91, of 519 Appleway Road, and previously a resident of Falling Spring Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Chambersburg, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Wednesday, Nov. 25, 1998, at Chambersburg Hospital, Chambersburg, Pa.

Born Aug. 13, 1907, in McConnellsburg, Pa., he was the son of the late Fred and Clara Peck Gordon.

Early in life, he worked as a sub-contractor for P.H. Gladfelter Paper Co. in York, Pa. During World War II, he worked in the CC Camp at Cowans Gap, Pa. He was last employed by Martin-Marietta Stone Quarry in Pinesburg.

He was of the Protestant faith.

He is survived by his second wife, Dorothy Umbrell Stains Gordon, whom he married June 1, 1963; three daughters, Hilda M. Shew and Patricia Myers, both of Fort Loudon, Pa., and Marie High of Chambersburg; three sons, Melvin L. Gordon of St. Thomas, Theodore E. Gordon of Mercersburg, Pa., and Ronald E. Gordon of Spotsylvania, Va.; one stepdaughter, Janet L. Bain of Chambersburg; one sister, Beulah Beatty of Mercersburg, Pa.; one brother, Harry Gordon of Mercersburg; 23 grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 10 stepgreat-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; and one stepgreat-great-granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by a son, two sisters, five brothers, and one stepgreat-grandchild.

Services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Lininger-Fries Funeral Home, 47 N. Park Ave., Mercersburg. The Rev. Stuart I. Troutman will officiate. Burial will be in St. Thomas Cemetery, St. Thomas.

A viewing will be held at the funeral home Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m.; and one hour prior to the service on Sunday.

Carmen E. Cormany

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Carmen E. Sites Cormany, 79, of 870A Menno Village, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Wednesday, Nov. 25, 1998, at her home.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John H. Cormany, in 1996. They were married July 16, 1938.

She graduated early from Clear Spring High School, in 1936.

She was a homemaker.

She was a member of Park Avenue United Methodist Church, Chambersburg.

She was a member and past president of Chambersburg Garden Club, Chambersburg; a member of Ladies Auxiliary of the Chambersburg Hospital; and Kiwanis Club of Chambersburg.

She is survived by three sons, David A. Cormany of Pittsburgh, John M. Cormany of West Chester, Pa. and Philip M. Cormany of Rockville, Md.; four sisters, Constance E. Wessells and Edna D. Bricker, both of Chambersburg, Phyllis M. Hill of Boonsboro and Alita L. Lichtenwarter of Addison, Texas; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother, George A. Sites, in 1977.

Services will be today at 1:30 p.m. in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road. The Rev. Robert E. Taylor will officiate. Burial will be in St. Paul Cemetery, Clear Spring.
