Donna Jacobson

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Donna Coffman Jacobson, 49, of 523 W. Born June 29, 1949, in El Paso, Texas, she was the daughter of Paul and Margaret Mitchell Coffman of Wayne, Okla.

She was a 1967 graduate of Westside High School in York, Pa. She also was a 1971 graduate of Oklahoma State University, receiving a bachelor of science in nursing.

She was employed as an instructor for the Head Start Program at Murray State University in Kentucky. She later was employed in physician offices, geriatric and hospice Centers. Mostly recently, she was employed as the CFO of Viking Engineering Corp., in Marlton, N.J. for the past 1 1/2 years.

She was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Quincy, Pa.

She was a member of Ladies' Auxiliary of the William Max McLaughlin VFW Post 695; Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1191; Fraternal Order of Eagles 1758; and Eagles Club Inc., all of Waynesboro.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, Gerald A. Jacobson, whom she married Jan. 13, 1993; two sons, Mark P. McWayne of Seattle, Wash., Drew M. McWayne of Paducah, Ky.; two stepdaughters, Michelle M. Rife and Linda D. Rohne, both of Waynesboro; two stepsons, Gerald A. Jacobson Jr. of Hagerstown and Andy R. Jacobson of Waynesboro; eight stepgrandchildren; a brother, Robert Coffman of St. Louis; a stepsister, Marie Coffman of Wayne, Okla.; nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be at the convenience of the family and announced at a later date.

Memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society, 452 E. King St., Chambersburg, PA 17201.

Arrangements are by Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro.

Thelma G. Izer

QUINCY, Pa. - Thelma G. Cook Morrow Izer, 94, a resident of Quincy United Methodist Home and formerly of Greencastle, Pa., Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Monday, Dec. 21, 1998, at the home.

Born March 6, 1904, in Waynesboro, Pa., she was the daughter of the late William H. and Emma K. Lohman Cook.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, John B. Morrow, in 1935. They were married Jan. 2, 1924.

She was preceded in death by her second husband, Charles E. "Jack" Izer, in 1984. They were married Oct. 6, 1954.

Early in her life, she was a clerk for John B. Geiser Dry Goods Store, Waynesboro. She also was a clerk at Kirson's Clothing Store, owned by Fannie Goldberg, Waynesboro. Later, she was employed as a machine operator at Landis Machine-Victor Tool Company Division, Waynesboro. She was last employed at Waynesboro Knitting Mill.

She was a member of Evangelical Lutheran Church, Waynesboro. She was a member of Young Women's Bible Class. She was a member of Grace United Church of Christ, Greencastle, Pa.; and Grace Snyder Circle.

She was a member of National AARP.

She is survived by a daughter, Patricia A. Sease of Waynesboro; a son, Robert B. Morrow of Waynesboro; a stepdaughter, Jane Izer Schmidt of Fort Myers, Fla.; a stepson, William Max Izer of Greencastle; eight grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three stepgreat-grandchildren; two sisters, Catherine Hoover of Seattle, Wash. and Mildred Ridenour of Elkton, Md.; a brother, Wilbur Cook of Waynesboro; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a son, Bernarr S. Morrow, in 1995; a sister, Erma Keckler; and three brothers, Emmert Cook, Leroy Cook and Verdeen Cook.

Services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro. The Rev. Donald E. Reese will officiate. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made to Grace United Church of Christ, 128 E. Baltimore St., Greencastle, Pa. 17225.

Doris A. Strite

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Doris A. Bauman Strite, 72, of 25 N. Potomac St., Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Monday, Dec. 21, 1998, at Hershey Medical Center, Hershey, Pa.

Born Nov. 2, 1926, in Elmira, Ontario, Canada, she was the daughter of the late Isaiah G. and Hettie Martin Bauman.

She received her U.S. citizenship in September 1998.

She was a seamstress for Waynesboro Knitting Mill for 18 years; she then worked for Window Store and More, Waynesboro as a seamstress since 1986. She retired in December 1997.

She was a member of Fairview Avenue Brethren in Christ Church in Waynesboro, where she taught Sunday School for more than 30 years in various classes. She also served on the Missions Committee of the church for a number of years.

She is survived by a daughter, Phyllis A. Witter of Waynesboro; two sons, Eldon L. Strite of Waynesboro and Ronald G. Strite of Mont Alto, Pa.; six grandchildren; a step-granddaughter; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary E. Myers of Chambersburg, Pa. and Martha J. Yoder of Harrisonburg, Va.; a brother, Leonard J. Bauman of Mount Airy, Md.; two stepsisters, Mildred Dentler of Hagerstown and Mary Burkholder of Greencastle; a stepbrother, Ralph Weaver of Maugansville; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by an infant son, Robert L. Strite in 1959; and a brother, Mahlon C. Bauman in 1974.

Services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Fairview Avenue Brethren in Christ Church, 152 Fairview Ave., Waynesboro. The Rev. Roger N. Witter, the Rev. John D. Fickett and the Rev. Greg Deardorff will officiate. Burial will be in Ringgold Cemetery, Ringgold.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro, and Thursday from 12:30 to 1 p.m. prior to the services at the church.

Vonny I. Mowen

FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. - Vonny I. Mowen, 60, of 367 Cameo Drive and formerly of 131 S. Born May 6, 1938, in Clear Spring, she was the daughter of the late Jacob R. and Mabel I. Shockey Ricker.

In her early life, she worked at Chambersburg Hospital; and then she worked for 27 years at Pet Milk of Chambersburg, Pa.

She attended Trinity Lutheran Church in Greencastle.

She was a member of Ladies Auxiliary of Harry D. Zeigler VFW Post 6319 of Greencastle. She enjoyed traveling.

She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Jack J. Mowen; a daughter, Robbin Kuhn of Greencastle; three sisters, Betty Bruno of Fort Loudon, Pa., Mary Ommert of Chambersburg and Hazel Young of Greencastle; two brothers, Jacob L. Ricker of Stephens City, Va., and John Ricker of Arizona; a half-sister, Paula Ricker of Greencastle; a granddaughter; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Hockensmith, in 1997.

Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle. The Rev. David Rawley and the Rev. William DeHass will officiate. Burial will be in St. Thomas Cemetery, St. Thomas, Pa.

The family will receive friends Thursday one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.

Betty J. Peffer

Gerald C. Hann Sr.

Born Aug. 10, 1925, in Taylor Township, Pa., he was the son of the late Carl G. and Julia Mumma Hann.

He retired from E. F. Goetz Construction Co., Chambersburg, Pa., in 1974, where he had worked as a heavy equipment operator. Later, he worked at Hann's Mini Market, Hustontown until 1993.

He was of the Protestant faith.

He served as Taylor Township supervisor for four years.

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn House Hann, whom he married Aug. 7, 1946; two sons, Gerald C. Hann Jr. of Hustontown and Gary L. Hann of Harrisonville, Pa.; a sister, Thelma Hess of Chambersburg; two brothers, Lester Hann and Melvin Hann, both of Harrisonville; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Guy R. Hann.

Services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at M. R. Brown Funeral Home, Hustontown. Pastor David Arnold and Pastor John Warner will officiate. Burial will be in Hustontown Cemetery, Hustontown.

Friends may call Saturday from 6 to 9 p.m.; and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
