Born Aug. 25, 1909, in Cashtown, Pa., he was the son of the late Frank L. and Elsie Carbaugh Gerhold Sr.

He worked at Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg, retiring in 1973.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He was a member of BPO Elks 600, Chambersburg; and Charles M. Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW, Chambersburg.

He is survived by his wife, Helen Reasner Gerhold; a daughter, Tammy L. Piper of Charleston, S.C.; two sisters, Mary Herring of Cashtown and Rhoda Dayhoff of Gettysburg, Pa.; a granddaughter, Kayla R. Piper of Charleston; and a grandson, Matthew E. Piper of Charleston.

He was preceded in death by a sister and a brother.

Services will be today at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Rev. George S. Mouer Sr. will officiate. Burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery, Chambersburg. Military graveside services will be conducted by members of Charles M. Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW Honor Guard.

Viewing will be today one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society, 452 E. King St., Chambersburg, PA 17201.

Nelson H. Petre

MERCERSBURG, Pa. - Nelson H. Petre, 66, of 13334 Bain Road and formerly of 2757 Clay Hill Road, Waynesboro, Pa., Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Friday, Dec. 25, 1998, at his home.

Born Sept. 2, 1932, in Hagerstown, he was the son of Russel and Emma Horst Petre of Hagerstown.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Miriam L. Witmer Petre, in 1992.

He was a retired farmer and had worked as the parts man for Strite's Garage in Waynesboro.

He was a member of Waynecastle Mennonite Church near Waynesboro.

He is survived by four daughters, Carolyn Eby of Port Trevorton, Pa., Sylvia Petre of Mercersburg, Joyce Strite of Duncan, Ariz., and Sue Ellen Strite of Waynesboro; two sons, Ray Petre of Bedford, Pa., and Joel Petre of Loma, Colo.; eight sisters, Naomi H. Rudolph of Smithsburg, Ruth H. Weaver of Boiling Springs, Pa., Anna H. Martin of Waynesboro, Elva H. Martin and Mary Ella Petre, both of Hagerstown, Iva H. Petre of Stephens City, Va., Lela H. Martin of Athens, Wis., and Dorcas E. Brubaker of Seven Valleys, Pa.; five brothers, Aldus H. Petre of Waynesboro, Merle H. Petre and Roy H. Petre, both of Hagerstown, Daniel R. Petre of York, Pa., and Mahlon S. Petre of Gap Mills, W.Va.; and 27 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, Donald Petre.

Services will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Waynecastle Mennonite Church, 10617 Five Forks Road, Waynesboro. Ministers Glen Martin, Reuben Martin, Marvin Martin, Mahlon Eby and Mervin Horst will officiate. Burial will be in the church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the church; and Tuesday one hour prior to services at the church.

The family requests the omission of flowers.

Arrangements are by Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, Greencastle, Pa.

BreAna M. Clay

ST. THOMAS, Pa. - BreAna Mae Clay, infant daughter of Robert A. and Susan McAfee Clay of 7683 Cumberland Circle, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Saturday, Dec. 26, 1998, at Chambersburg Hospital.

She was born Dec. 10, 1998, in Waynesboro, Pa.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by a half-sister, Kaitlyn Ashley Baker, at home; maternal grandparents, Larry and Bev Taylor Chilcutt of St. Thomas; maternal grandfather Thomas E. McAfee of Hagerstown; paternal grandfather, Thomas C. Clay of Haines, Ark.; and a number of aunts and uncles.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Brenda McAfee.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Rev. Arthur Brown will officiate. Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Lorraine C. Rosenberry

She was a member of Chambersburg Hospital, BPO Elks Lodge 600, Charles Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW Ladies Auxiliaries, Norland Chapter 3261 A.A.R.P. and Chambersburg Mall Walkers.

She was a volunteer with the American Red Cross, Chambersburg, Meals on Wheels, and Chambersburg Toy Mission.

She is survived by two sons, Stephen E. Rosenberry and Dennis L. Rosenberry, both of Chambersburg; and two sisters, Evelyn Christman of Chambersburg and Betty Ann Argenbright of Shippensburg, Pa.; and three grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 750 Norland Ave., Chambersburg. The Rev. A. Robert Cook will officiate. Burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery, Chambersburg.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Thomas Geisel Funeral Home, Chambersburg, and Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Chambersburg.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul United Methodist Church Building Fund, 750 Norland Ave., Chambersburg, PA 17201.

Mary R. Wyatt McCracken

Born Feb. 21, 1929, in Haywood County, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Rev. Manuel C. Wyatt and Pearl Sprinkle Wyatt of Clyde, N.C.

She was retired as a switchboard operator from Leggett Department Store in Richmond, Va.

She was a member of Ninevah Baptist Church in Waynesville, N.C.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband of 50 years, Roy Bryson "Did" McCracken; one daughter, Debbie M. Simpson of Blue Ridge Summit; three sisters, Jo Dunford of West Virginia, Betty Young and Louise Henry, both of Franklin, N.C.; three brothers, George Clifford Wyatt of Morgantown, N.C, Ray Wyatt of Waynesville, and David Wyatt of Charlotte, N.C.; and four grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Elizabeth Diane McCracken.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home, 296 N. Main St., Waynesville. The Rev. Pat Kilby will officiate. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesville.

The family will receive friends Wednesday 1 1/2 hours prior to the service.

Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.

Robert E. Lambe

He attended Grace Evangelical Free Church.

He is survived by his wife, Theresa Buhrman Lambe, two daughters, Mary Trader of Chambersburg, and Vicky Redding of Massachusetts; eight sons, Jeff Peplow and Charles Lambe, both of Bethleham, Pa., Louis Lambe of Ovanford, N.J., Jeffrey Redding and Mark Redding, both of Chambersburg, Joe Redding of Staton Island, N.Y., Jerome Redding and David Redding, both of Arizona; one brother, Tom Lambe of New Jersey; 16 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Grace Evangelical Free Church, 500 Broad St., Chambersburg. The Rev. Jeffrey Redding will officiate.
