RICE - G. Patricia
RICE - G. Patricia "Pat," 60, Ashcroft Avenue, Cresson, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Dec. 3 2004, at home. Born Oct. 22, 1944, in Pittsburgh, daughter of late Daniel G. and Dorothy (Coyne) Rice. She was the beloved sister of Michele Rice, Pittsburgh, and Danielle Bauer (Dwayne), Upper St. Clair. Her two nieces, Deidre and Bridget Bauer, brought total joy to her life. She was a loyal and loving friend to Allan and Peggy Diehl, and their daughter, Robbe, Cresson. Aunt Pat will be greatly missed by her "adopted" mountain family, Julie Glass, Linda Goltz and Sally Petrarca, all of Cresson. Their children and grandchildren have lost somebody truly special to them. Pat came to the mountains from Braddock, Pa., by way of Slippery Rock University. Upon graduation, she taught at Penn State Demonstration School, Cresson, which later evolved into part of Intermediate Unit 8. Her career with special needs students lasted 36 years, but her time with them extended well beyond the classroom. Just ask "The Tulips," her self-named group of classroom aids from the Forest Hills School District. It was common for Pat to have birthday parties and even graduation celebrations for her students. Not to mention organizing special outings or surprises for them to commemorate an outstanding achievement they may have reached. For over 35 years she was a Steelers season ticket holder. Not only did she love her Steelers but she enjoyed tailgating with "The Troops," that always included Betty Zembower and at various times Barbara Rotz, Roberta Zembower and the "Cresson Contingent." Friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Charles M. Kennedy Funeral Home, Cresson. Service and interment will be private. If you could paint a picture of giving freely of oneself, or caring and sharing with all around you, the portrait would look remarkably like Pat Rice. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Leukemia/Lymphoma Society.
