Also preceded in death by great-grandson, Robbie Murnin; sisters, Marie Stralko and Katherine Senuta; and brother, William. Survived by his loving wife, the former Theresa M. Krisay, with whom he celebrated their 68th anniversary on Monday; sons, Norman T., married to Donna Williams, and Kenneth W., married to Linda Petro, both of Johnstown; grandchildren, Christopher, married to Lena Kaminsky; Timothy, married to Sandy Doepher; Connie, married to Tim Murnin; and Kenneth, Karin, Daniel and Ted; great-grandchildren, Monica, Katherine, Theresa, Timothy, Melissa, Jessica, Matthew and Michelle; and great-great-granddaughter, Cora. During World War II, Norman was employed as a Class "A" rigger at Bethlehem Steel and after the war he began a long career in the retail trade, first as the owner of the Eighth Ward Market, then owner/operator of Cambria Tru-Value Hardware. He was a board member at Lee Hospital and a member of Our Mother of Sorrows. He enjoyed life to the fullest, especially his time with his family, who he cherished above all. Also he enjoyed serving his customers who quickly became his friends. Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Picking-Treece-Bennett Mortuary Inc., West Hills, 921 Menoher Blvd. Funeral Mass will be held at Our Mother of Sorrows at a time to be announced in Sunday's paper. Interment, Grandview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Norman's memory may be directed to Our Mother of Sorrows.

Survived by her daughter, Faye (Thomas) Kelly, Fairfax, Va.; son, Thomas R. (Melissa) Sherry, Patton; daughter-in-law, Judith (Uhlir) Sherry, Maspeth, N.Y.; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Helen Braun, St. Cloud, Minn., and Verna Turnbaugh, Middletown, Pa.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church for 69 years and Altar and Rosary Society. Prior to her marriage
, Mrs. Sherry worked as a cook in private homes. In later years, she worked as a cook at the State School in Ebensburg. Member of the ICBU. Past Patton Library board member and a Cub Scout Den Mother. She enjoyed cooking and was especially known for her cinnamon rolls. She also was an avid card player. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Stevens Funeral Homes Inc., 1004 N. Fifth Ave., Patton, where a vigil service will be held. Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Monday at Queen of Peace Catholic Church by the Benedictine Fathers. Committal, St. Mary's Cemetery.

BARANIAK - Aleck T. Jr.
BARANIAK - Aleck T. "Nig" Jr., 77, Cessna Hill Road, Jenner Township, Somerset County, went to join his savior July 22, 2004, at Memorial Medical Center. Born Sept. 24, 1926, in Somerset County, son of Aleck T. Sr. and Mary (Bodish) Baraniak. Preceded in death by parents; former wife, Helen I. Penrod, May 11, 1984; sister, Florence Sadler-Leput; and brother, Stanley. Beloved father of Debra, married to Charles Trexel, Jenner Township, and Joan, married to Robert Paul, Somerset; five loving grandchildren, Jason Paul and Christine, Brent, April and Lacey Trexel; sisters, Sally Kerch, Jenner Township; Violet "Dolly" married to Ben Preziosi, Brooklyn, N.Y.; and Anna Murin, San Diego, Calif.; and brother, Donald, Pittsburgh. Served in the U.S. Merchant Marine. Retired employee of the former Johnstown Plant, Bethlehem Steel Corp. with 27 years' service. A 40-year member of the Jenner Rod and Gun Club and also a member of the Boswell Post 461 American Legion. Avid trapper and also enjoyed fishing. No visitation or viewing. However, for those wishing to attend, a remembrance and celebration of new life service will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday, July 25, at the Laurel Mt. Grace Brethren Church, Somerset Pike, Jennerstown, the Rev. Michael D. Govey officiating. Memorials may be sent to the Laurel Mt. Grace Brethren Church, 7398 Somerset Pike, Boswell, Pa. 15531-911S. Also survived by nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Sister of Mike "Ike" Ference, and his wife, Olga, and John "Muzz" Ference, both of Central City. Mary was retired from Bestform Corp. and was an avid bowler. STEVENS - Ronald R. Born July 31, 1936, in Johnstown, son of Raymond T. "Buck" and Susan A. (Stofko) Stevens. Preceded in death by parents and son, Raymond J. (Dec. 9, 2002). Survived by his former wife, Sandra Stevens; children, Lisa and Robert Stevens of Johnstown; and Michelle, wife of Don Saunders, Darlington, Pa.; grandchildren, Alisha, Ashley and Alexis Saunders and Jenna Stevens; sister, Donna, wife of Dick Carr, Cannonsburg; three nieces and one nephew; loving companion, Becky Lanzendorfer; special friend, Brady Lanzendorfer; and loving pets, Cooper and Bud. Ron served four years in the U.S. Navy, honorably discharged as a radioman, Petty Officer 2nd Class. A 1954 graduate of Johnstown High School. He attended UPJ and received his B.S. degree in education from IUP in 1973, graduating cum laude. He then attended IUP both on a full-time and part-time basis over 13 years, earning a master's equivalent in 1978. Ron then taught in the Richland School District from 1974 to 1998. He was loved by students because he always looked out for their best interests. Ron once was quoted as saying, "You hear a lot of complaints about today's kids. But kids are good - given half the chance, you know they'll make it. You can say anything bad about anyone, but why not look for something good?" Ron's dedication, talents and interests led him to serve Johnstown in many capacities as former member of Greater Johnstown School Board, where he served terms as vice president and as president; former member and secretary of Greater Johnstown Vo-Tech Joint Operating Committee; member of Pennsylvania School Board Association; past board member of Cambria County Library System; Mayor's Advisory Committee; Interfaith Housing Corp. of Greater Johnstown; Hornerstown Youth Club; past committeeman; advisor to Richland High School Student Council; Richland Youth Education Association; an advisor to Scholastic Quiz and to the forensics team; and as secretary of Cub Pack 23 Boy Scouts of America. Ron was presently serving in his seventh term as councilman for the city and as deputy mayor. Ron also served on the water authority board since 2000. He was an avid Red Sox and Redskins fan. A member of PSEA, NEA, West End Lions and a lifelong member of St. John Gualbert Cathedral Parish, where funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, the Rev. Msgr. George B. Flinn, V.G., celebrant. Committal, Grandview Cemetery. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Moskal & Kennedy Colonial Funeral Home, Ohio Street and Highland Avenue, where vigil for the deceased will be held Sunday afternoon and Knights of Columbus will recite Rosary at 7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Humane Society. As Ron was quoted as saying, "I am a Johnstown person."
