Katherine Skapura
PONTIAC, Mich. - Katherine Skapura, 91, of Chardon Township, Ohio, died Wednesday, March 28, 2001, at Grove Crest Nursing Home, Pontiac.
She was born July 23, 1909, in Ernst, Pa., the daughter of Joseph and Katherine Krivonak, and moved to the area 40 years ago from Cleveland.
A homemaker, she marriage John Skapura in November 1935 in West Virginia.
She was a member of Pilgrim Christian Church, Chardon.
Survivors include a daughter, Sandra Mueller of Key Biscayne, Fla.; and three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, on May 21, 1988.
Service is noon Saturday at the Burr Funeral Home, 116 South St., Chardon. The Rev. Robert D. Penrod of Pilgrim Christian Church, Chardon, will officiate. Burial will be in Larned Cemetery, Chardon, Ohio.
Calling hour is from 11 a.m. until the time of service Saturday at the funeral home.

Rose Tobias
BERLIN, Pa. - Rose Tobias, 95, formerly of Ashtabula, Ohio died Saturday, Jan. 27, 2001, at the Meadowview Nursing Home.
Born Nov. 1, 1906, in Plymouth Township, she was the daughter of Anthony and Mary (Guerriero) Sandella.
A former member of St. Joseph Church, she enjoyed crocheting, making hook rugs, canning, reading the Bible, and spending time with her family.
Survivors include three daughters, Rosella Campbell and Mary Bodecker of Ashtabula, and Joann Henry of Stoystown, Pa.; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Tobias; her parents; five brothers, Ralph, John, Joe, and Ernest Sandella, and Nuncy Varsetti; and two sisters, Florence Pulkinen and Kathryn Mary White.
Service will be noon Thursday at the Ross-Billman Funeral Home, 526 W. Prospect Road, Ashtabula, Ohio. The Rev. Phillip Miller will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
Calling hours will be from 11 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday.

Margaret Huranna
PHOENIX, Ariz. - Margaret "Marge" C. (Tomkovicz) Huranna, 84, of Phoenix, Ariz., and Chardon died Monday, May 13, 2002, at Heather Hill Nursing Home in Munson.
She was born June 10, 1917 in Charleroi, Pa., and lived in Chardon since 1954 and has been a part-year resident of Phoenix since 1994.
Mrs. Huranna was an assembler at the former A.P.I. Meter Plant in Chesterland for 15 years.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Chardon and St. Joan of Arc Church in Phoenix.
Mrs. Huranna was also active at the Geauga Senior Center in Chardon, Ohio, where she enjoyed playing cards on Wednesdays.
Survivors include her daughters, Judith "Judy" Began of Chardon and Joyce Fratoe of Montville, Ohio; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; brother, Anthony Tomkovicz of Oregon, sister, Elizabeth Muston of Michigan; and her significant other, Bryl "Van" Van Norman of Phoenix, and Chardon.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Nick Huranna, whom died Nov. 29, 1984; and her son, Nicholas A. Huranna.
Services will be 10 a.m., Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 401 North St., Chardon, with Rev. Thomas C. Gilles officiating.
Burial will be in St. Philip Cemetery in Linesville, Pa.
Calling hours will be from 7 to 9 p.m., today at Ritondaro Funeral Home, 126 South St., Chardon, Ohio.
Ritondaro Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Charles Richard Baker
Owned, operated Baker's Steakhouse
MOUNTAIN HOME, TN - Charles Richard Baker, 89, of 3318 Millfair Road, died Monday, July 28, 2003, at Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Mountain Home, TN.
Born on November 1, 1913 in Erie, PA, he was the son of the late Charles J. Baker and Katherine Baker Ecker.
Mr. Baker owned and operated Baker's Steakhouse in West Springfield, PA, for more than 50 years before retiring.
He graduated from Academy High School, and served in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1945 during World War II.
He enjoyed trees and raised fowl.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret McAlister Baker of Erie, PA; five sons, Charles Baker of Erie, PA, Roger Baker of West Jefferson, OH, Mark Baker of Bradenton, FL, David Baker of Johnson City, TN, and Danny Baker of Ellenton, FL; two daughters, Marlyne Jablonski and her husband, Ken, of Erie, PA, and Charlyne Sebald and her husband, Tom, of Union City, PA; a sister, Elsie Hultman of Winter Park, FL; and many grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Clarence and Milton Baker.
A Service was held Sunday, August 3, 2003, in Tennessee, during which his ashes were scattered.

Betty J. Foust
CHESAPEAKE, Va. - Betty J. Foust, 77, of Montebello Circle, died Sunday, Dec. 2, 2001.
She was born in Butler, Pa.
Survivors include her husband, George G.; two daughters, Judy Johnston of Jefferson, Ohio and Sherry Jones of Chesapeake, Va.; a son, Bill of Ashtabula; a sister, Evelyn of Pennsylvania; seven grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Graveside service will be at 10 a.m., today in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens, Chesapeake, Va.
Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Bridge Chapel, Chesapeake, Va., has charge of the arrangements.

Robert S. Alexander
ALBION, Pa. - Robert S. Alexander, 77, of Stateline Road, died Friday, Dec. 27, 2002, at his daughter's residence in West Springfield, Pa., after a long illness.
He was born in Conneautville, Pa., June 14, 1925, the son of the late Glenn and Bessie (Freeman) Alexander.
Mr. Alexander graduated valedictorian in 1943 from Albion High School. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II, participating in the European, African and Middle Eastern campaigns.
He retired in 1990 from the Conneaut Township road department after 10 years of service. Prior to his employment with Conneaut Township, he was the parts manager at Marcy Chevrolet in Geneva.
He was a director of the Albion Fair Association and a member of Happy Riders Horse Club. He enjoyed fishing and was an avid fan of the Northwestern girls softball and football teams.
Surviving are a daughter, Linda Barrante of West Springfield, Pa.; a son, Mark Alexander of Albion; a brother, Norman Alexander of Warren, Pa.; four grandchildren, Jeff and Jenn Barrante, and Sarah and Lee Alexander; and a dear friend, Nelle Wiley.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Norma (Kezertee) Alexander, on Dec. 27, 1996; a sister, Lois McConegly; and two brothers, Wallace and Stanley Alexander.
A memorial service is 6 p.m. Thursday at the Albion Assembly of God, with the Rev. Alan Thorpe, pastor, officiating. Private interment will be in Albion Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to VNA Hospice, 1305 Peach St., Erie, PA 16501; Albion Area Public Library, 111 E. Pearl St., Albion, PA 16401; or Northwestern Girls Softball Booster Club, c/o Marquette Savings Bank, 14 N. Main St., Albion, PA 16401.

Thomas R. Forthman Jr.
SAEGERTOWN, PA - Thomas R. Forthman, Jr., 45, of Craig Road, died Thursday, Nov. 28, 2002 at the Meadville Medical Center in Meadville, Pa. He was born Oct. 25, 1957 in Ashtabula, the son of Ruth (Trask) and Thomas R. Forthman, Sr.
Mr. Forthman was a 1976 graduate of Conn. Lake High School. He enjoyed music, electronics, helping less fortunate people and was a D.J. for the Beverly Home.
He worked at Allegheny College in Meadville, Pa. as a custodian for 15 years.
Mr. Forthman previously lived in Hartstown, Pa.
Survivors include his mother and stepfather Ruth and William Burkley of Hartstown, Pa., a sister, Johanna Piate of Cincinnati; three stepsisters, Donna Buckley of Meadville, Pa, Terry Cowan of Saegertown, Pa. and Sandy Palmer of Conn. Lake, Pa.; and a stepbrother, Randy Buckley of Harmonsburg, Pa.
Service is 1 p.m. Monday, at the Randall Funeral Home, 416 Liberty St., Jamestown, Pa., with the Rev. King from Hartstown, Pa., officiating. Calling hours are 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Rocky Glen Cemetery in Adamsville, Pa.
