WILBUR E. REDINGER
Wilbur E. Redinger, 85, of Grassflat died Monday, Feb. 9, 1998, at Mountain Laurel Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Clearfield.
He was born May 12, 1912, in Grassflat, a son of the late John and Mary Veihdeffer Redinger. On Feb. 18, 1940, in Tallman, N.Y., he marriage Emily Wynn, who survives at home.
He was a 1931 graduate of the former Cooper Township High School.
He was an Army veteran, having served in China in 1931 and during World War II, where he fought in the Battle of the Bulge.
He was a transportation manager for Peters Brothers Rubber Co. in Brooklyn, N.Y., retiring in 1969.
He was a member of Winburne Presbyterian Church in Winburne.
He was a member of Consolidated Lodge, Free and Accepted Masons No. 31 in New York.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Robert W. of Winchendon, Mass., and Gary W. of Hampstead, N.C.; three sisters, Ellerie Melnick of Windmill Village, Fla., Annabel Spangler of Port Richey, Fla., and Mabel Zanella of York; and five grandchildren. A daughter, Lorraine Redinger, preceded him in death.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and on Thursday until the time of the service at Johnson Funeral Home, Grassflat. Masonic memorial services will be at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Kathleen Myers officiating. Military honors will be accorded at the funeral home by members of the Philipsburg Honor Guard.
Burial will be in Kylertown Presbyterian Cemetery, Kylertown.
Memorial contributions may be made to Winburne Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 397, Winburne, Pa. 16879.

DENNIS LEE ROBINSON Sr.
Dennis Lee Robinson Sr., 44, of Austin, Texas, formerly of Bellefonte, died Friday, Feb. 6, 1998, at Washoe Medical Center in Reno, Nev.
He was born March 10, 1953, in Bellefonte, a son of David E. and Nancy J. Martin Robinson of Howard.
He was a 1971 graduate of Bald Eagle Area High School.
He was a veteran.
He worked in insurance sales and was a Protestant.
He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1600 in Bellefonte.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a daughter, Brittaney Robinson of Akron, Ohio; a stepdaughter, Lancie Brackin of Austin, Texas; two sons, Dennis Lee Jr. and Dalton, both of Belmont, Ohio; a brother, David A. of Howard; maternal grandmother, Mae Taylor of Bellefonte; paternal grandmother, Jeanette Robinson of Rebersburg; a companion, Mary Ann Gustafson of Austin, Texas; and his former wife, Coletta Tittle, of Akron, Ohio.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Wetzler Funeral Home, 206 N. Spring St., Bellefonte.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Karen W. Atanasoff officiating.
Burial will be in Schenck's Cemetery, Howard Township.

CLARA BELLE SWARTZ SWINEHART
Clara Belle Swinehart Swartz, 82, of Lock Haven Extended Care Facility, formerly of Blanchard, died Monday, Feb. 9, 1998, at Lock Haven Hospital.
She was born Sept. 12, 1915, in Williamsport, a daughter of the late William H. and Mary Forney Swinehart. On Aug. 19, 1934, she marriage Guy Lincoln Swartz, who died Aug. 3, 1992.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Blanchard Church of Christ.
She is survived by a daughter, Nancy L. Martin of Beech Creek; a son, Richard of New Jersey; two sisters, Mabel Bottorf of South Williamsport and Florence Hammond of Williamsport; three brothers, Charles "Bud" Swinehart of South Williamsport, Earl Swinehart of Hazelton and Robert Swinehart of Williamsport; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 3 to 4 p.m. Thursday at W. Robert Neff Funeral Home, 837 Main St., Howard.
The funeral will be at 4 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Russel J. Moldovan officiating.
Burial will be in Church of Christ Cemetery, Blanchard.
Memorial contributions may be made to Central Pennsylvania Multiple Sclerosis Society, 2209 Forest Hills Drive, Suite 1819, Harrisburg, Pa. 17112.

T. ALLEN 'BANJO' GARDNER
T. Allen "Banjo" Gardner, 71, of Duncansville died Monday, Feb. 9, 1998, at Altoona Hospital.
He was born Dec. 23, 1926, in Osceola Mills, a son of Alice Thomas Gill of Osceola Mills and the late Thurman Gardner. He marriage Audrey Leonard, who survives at home.
He was a 1944 graduate of Osceola Mills High School.
He was a Navy veteran, having served during World War II.
He was a retired foreman on power lines.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting and sports.
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by two daughters, Mary Kaye Kunkle of New Holland and Robin Kirk of Dillsburg; four sons, Robert of Hollidaysburg, Charles of West Decatur, Todd of Baltimore and Randy of Etters; a sister, Dorothy Malinich of Osceola Mills; a brother, Dr. Lewis M. Gill of Telford; and nine grandchildren. A son, Scott, preceded him in death.
There will be no visitation.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Juniata Valley Gospel Church, Hollidaysburg.

Robert L. Brown, Sr.
Robert L. Brown Sr., 68, of Bellefonte, died Saturday, June 9, 2001, at home.
Born July 24, 1932, in Sunbury, he was a son of the late Robert E. and Alma Wert Brown.
On Aug. 31, 1951, he marriage Barbara G. Grugan, who survives at home.
He was a 1950 graduate of Sunbury High School.
In 1976, he was an organizer of the country's bicentennial in Bellefonte and in 1993, was chairman of the Milesburg bicentennial.
He enjoyed photography, books about World War II, collecting stamps and gardening.
He also investigated and followed many eagle sightings in the eastern United States.
He was a Protestant.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Karen S. Flagg of Great Falls, Va.; three sons, James R. in Sierra Vista, Ariz., Robert L. Jr. and Adam D., both of Bellefonte; two sisters, Kathleen Reed of Harrisburg and Molly Legg of Moscow, Pa.; a brother, David of Butler; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Philip L., who died April 10, 2001.
Visitation will be from 10 to
11 a.m. Tuesday at Dean K. Wetzler Funeral Home, Milesburg.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. David A. Walker officiating.
Burial will be in Union Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association, 205 E. Beaver Ave., State College, PA 16801.

Everett C. Shuman
Everett C. Shuman, 99, a resident of University Park Nursing Center in State College, died Friday, May 31, 2002, at the nursing center.
Born Nov. 3, 1902, in Milwaukee, he was a son of the late E.W. and Clare Kaross Shuman. He marriage Helen Moyer, who died July 8, 1982.
He was a pioneer researcher in energy conservation and is considered to be the father of the R-value, which is an accurate indication of the insulating effectiveness of all types of insulating materials and has been universally used since 1970.
In 1924, he graduated from the University of Wisconsin with honors in civil engineering. While teaching mechanics, he earned a master's degree in civil engineering in 1926.
In 1926, he joined the research laboratory of the Portland Cement Association in Chicago as an engineer for developmental research on concrete mixers.
He also installed a research laboratory for Penn-Dixie Cement Corp. in Tennessee and started a pilot plant in Chicago for the manufacture of industrial water treatment equipment.
In 1938, he was appointed head of the department of civil engineering at Lewis Institute.
During World War II, he was a research engineer for the War Department, Corps of Engineers, North Atlantic Division, Central Concrete Laboratory at West Point and Mount Vernon, N.Y., with field assignments at Eastport, Maine.
He received a Letter of Commendation from the Military Academy and a Meritorious Civilian Service Award from the War Department.
For the next 14 years, he was employed by Owens-Illinois Glass Co. in Toledo, Ohio, as supervisor for research and development, then as plant manager at Berlin, N.J., and director of research and engineering in New York.
He was named associate professor of engineering in the Institute for Building Research, college of engineering, Penn State, in 1961 on the staff of the architectural engineering department and the graduate school until his retirement in 1968.
He demonstrated by a time-lapse movie that the cause of ridges and blisters in conventional flat felt roofings was due to moisture, not temperature, which had been presumed for many years. He also developed standard fire tests for materials and constructions.
He was the author of numerous technical papers on roofing and concrete, held several patents and received many awards. He traveled extensively to professional meetings, achieving nearly two million miles of air travel.
His first flight occurred in 1905 when, at age 3, he was strapped to his father who was a wing passenger on an aircraft flown by Orville Wright.
Since 1926, he was an active member of the American Society for Testing and Materials. He was chairman of the Testing Building Construction Committee, vice-chairman of the Sandwich Constructions Committee, the first chairman of the Standing Committee on Publications, chairman of the first ad hoc committee for the ASTM Metric Practice Guide and chairman of the Construction Standards Board of the USA Standards Institute.
He received the ASTM Award of Merit in 1964 and was elected to honorary membership in 1969.
He was also a member of First Church of Christ, Scientist, in State College, the American Society of Civil Engineers, American Society of Mechanical Engineers, Building Research Advisory Board Associates, American Concrete Institute, Western Society of Engineers, Society of Rheology, Society for Experimental Stress Analysis, American Society for Quality Control, National Association of Professional Engineers and Tau Beta Pi.
A historical marker honoring his contributions is located at the intersection of West College Avenue and Burrowes Road in State College.
He is survived by a cousin, Mildred S. Hennessy of Chicago and close friends Lee and Diane Hockenberry of State College.
Burial will be in the family plot at Valhalla Memorial Park in Milwaukee.
Koch Funeral Home in State College is handling the arrangements.

Paul F. Teenie
Paul F. Teenie, 56, of Lewistown died Thursday, May 30, 2002, at Lewistown Hospital.
Born July 10, 1945, in Lewistown, he was a son of the late Jesse F. and Ethel I. Tate Teenie.
On June 6, 1970, he marriage Ruth Ann Wells, who survives at home.
He was in the Army.
A superintendent of the wheel section of Machine Shop I at Standard Steel, he retired in September 2000 after 34 years of service.
He was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church and United Steel Workers of America Local 1940.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Paula Ann Yorks of Lewistown; a son, Marc W. of Lewistown; four sisters, Julia Stravolo and Ann M. Teenie, both of Lewistown, Lois Hartman of Alpharetta, Ga., and Joan E. Hampton of Newtown; a brother, Jesse A. of Manchester; and three grandchildren.
Two brothers preceded him in death.
There will be no public visitation.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 106 N. Dorcas St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Thomas Marickovic as celebrant.
Burial will be in Juniata Memorial Park Cemetery, Lewistown.
Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Home Inc. in Lewistown is handling the arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to Sacred Heart School, 106 N. Dorcas St., Lewistown, PA 17044.
