Margaret G. Hunter
Margaret G. (Mrs. James W. Sr.) Hunter, 90, of Ligonier, died Friday, April 27, 1990, at Latrobe Area Hospital. She was born Feb. 1, 1900, in Ligonier, a daughter of the late David Albert and Mary (Deeds) Geeting. She was a member of the Pioneer Presbyterian Church, Ligonier. She was a past noble grand and member of the Ligonier Rebekah Lodge No. 314, and past matron and over 60-year member of the Fort Ligonier VFW Auxiliary No. 734, the Byers-Tosh American Legion Unit 267, and the Ligonier Golden Agers. She also served for many years as a member of the Ligonier Elections Board. She was preceded in death by her husband, James W. Hunter Sr. in 1972; a son, Charles Edward Hunter; and three brothers, Charles, Milton and George Geeting. She is survived by four sons, David G. Hunter Sr. of Fayetteville, Tenn., James W. Jr. and Thomas B. Hunter Sr., both of Ligonier, and Joseph R. Hunter of Scottsdale, Ariz.; six grandsons; two great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson. Funeral services were held Monday at McCabe Funeral Home, Ligonier, with the Rev. Don Kistler officiating. Burial was in Ligonier Valley Cemetery.

LIGONIER-- James W. Hunter, Sr., 73, of 113 North Walnut Street, Ligonier, died Friday in the Latrobe Area Hospital. Mr. Hunter was well-known in the Ligonier area, having been manager of the Railway Express Agency in Ligonier for many years, until the office was closed in 1952. He was a member and elder of the Pioneer United Presbyterian Church in Ligonier and was president of the Ligonier Golden Age Club. He served as master of the Ligonier F. and A.M. Lodge No. 331 in 1940. He was a member of Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Derry; Coudersport Consistory; and the Syria Temple of Pittsburgh. He was a fifty-year member of the IOOF, Latrobe Lodge 541, and served on the Ligonier Valley School Board from 1936 to 1942. Born in Mechesneytown, October 18, 1898, he was a son of the late Thomas B. and Lettie Jane Reed Hunter. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Dr. T. Bailey Hunter, and R. Emerson Hunter. Surviving are his wife, Margaret Geeting Hunter; four sons, David G. of Fayetteville, Tennessee; James W. Jr.; Thomas B., both of Ligonier and Joseph R. of Saltsburg; six grandsons; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Carrie Giesey of Derry and Mrs. Jane H. Igo of Latrobe; and a brother, John R., of Derry. Services were held by both the Ligonier Lodge 331, F. and A.M. and Latrobe Lodge IOOF No. 541 on Sunday evening at the Gordon O. Snyder Funeral Home in Ligonier. Funeral services were held in the colonial chapel of the funeral home at 11 a.m. on Monday, with the Rev. George H. Wright and the Rev. James T. Dennison officiating. Interment was in the Ligonier Valley Cemetery.

Mrs. Charles N. (Elizabeth W.) Geeting, 88, of 508 West Main Street, Ligonier died Tuesday, August 12, 1975 in the Latrobe Area Hospital. Mrs. Geeting was born March 22, 1887 in Ligonier Township, a daughter of William and Susan (Carnes) Welshonsce. She was a member of Heritage United Methodist Church, Circle number 3 of the church and Fort Ligonier Chapter 349, Order of Eastern Star. Preceded in death by her husband, and a daughter, Mrs. Dallas (Betty) Moore, she is survived by a son, Charles E. Geeting of Dallas, Texas; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Family will receive friends at the Owen Wolford Funeral Home, East Main Street, Ligonier from 3-5 and 7-9 today and Thursday. Funeral services will be held in the chapel of the funeral home Friday at 10 a.m. with Dr. William Daugherty in charge. Private interment will follow in the Ligonier Valley Cemetery.

George Deeds Geeting
George Deeds Geeting of 115 Walnut Street, Ligonier died Thursday, September 27, 1973 in the Latrobe Area Hospital. Mr. Geeting was a son of the late David A. and Mary (Deeds) Geeting. He was a member of Heritage United Methodist Church and was a retired employe of Kennametal, Inc., Latrobe. Surviving are his wife, Geneva (Frable) Geeting; one son, William F. Geeting; one daughter, Barbara Geeting and one grandson, Mark Geeting, all of Bellefonte, Pa.; one sister, Mrs. Margaret Hunter of Ligonier also survives. Funeral services were held in the Colonial Chapel of the Gordon O. Snyder Funeral Home, Saturday, the Rev. Benton R. McKee officiating. Interment followed in Ligonier Valley Cemetery.

Geneva F. Geeting.
Geneva F. (Mrs. George D.) Geeting, 85, of Ligonier, died Saturday, Oct. 21, 1989, at Latrobe Area Hospital. She was born Sept. 22, 1904, in Derry Township, a daughter of the late William N. and Catherine (Hauger) Frable. She was a registered nurse having graduated from Mercy Hospital, Johnstown. She was a member of Heritage United Methodist Church, Ligonier. She was also a member and past matron of Fort Ligonier Chapter 349 Order of Eastern Star. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Golden Age Club, and a former member of the Quilting Club of Ligonier. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Deeds Geeting, in 1973; and three brothers, Vertal, Paul and Frank Frable. She is survived by a son, William (Frable) Geeting of Bellefonte; a grandson, Mark William Geeting of Augusta, Ga.; two nephews; and four nieces. Funeral services were held Tuesday, at the Snyder Funeral Home Inc., Ligonier, with the Rev. Samuel L. Allaman officiating. Burial was in Ligonier Valley Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Heritage United Methodist Church, Ligonier. Helen H. Snyder in charge of arrangements.

Lewis R. Roberts
Lewis Roy Roberts, 85, of Ligonier, died Thursday, Nov. 20, 1986, at the Audubon Villa Nursing Home, Lititz. He was born Jan. 21, 1901, in Ligonier, a son of the late John and Margaret (Kuhns) Roberts. Before his retirement, he had been employed by Allegheny Ludlum Steel. He was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church, Ligonier, Ligonier Lodge 331 F&AM, Pittsburgh Consistory and Syria Shrine of Pittsburgh. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth (Mowry) Roberts. He is survived by a daughter, Yvonne (Mrs. George) Heffran of Lititz; two sisters, Marie Roberts of Ligonier and Dorothy Robb of Texas; two granddaughters, and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Monday, at the Wolford-McCracken Funeral Home Inc., Ligonier, with the Rev. John J. McClure officiating. Burial was in Ligonier Valley Cemetery.

Clara I. Anderson
Loyalhanna Township
Clara I. Anderson, 71, of Loyalhanna Township, died Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2001, in I.H.S. at Mountain View, Unity Township. She was born Jan. 27, 1930, in Avonmore, a daughter of the late John and Mary McGuire Frain. She was a homemaker, having lived the past 48 years in Loyalhanna Township. She was a member of the Sons of Zebedee Lutheran Church, Saltsburg. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant brother. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Raymond L. Anderson; two sons, George W. Anderson of Derry and Glenn A. Anderson of Loyalhanna Township; three daughters, Linda R. Rager and Janet L. Anderson, both of Loyalhanna Township, and Debra A. Ashbaugh of Vandergrift; a sister, Twila Hopkins of Saltsburg; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Friends will be received in the CURRAN FUNERAL HOME, 701 Salt St., Saltsburg, Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. April Dailey officiating. Interment in Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont.

Clara M. "Tamie" (Bowman) Barko
Ruffsdale
Clara M. "Tamie" (Bowman) Barko, 66, of Ruffsdale, went to be with her Lord Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2001, after a four-year courageous battle with cancer. Born June 10, 1935, in Mt. Pleasant, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Lydia (Creighton) Bowman. She was a member of the Grandview Church of God, Smithton. She was a contributing member of the American Cancer Society. Prior to her illness, she was an assistant chef at Mr. P's Restaurant, Greensburg. Her memories will be cherished by her husband of 44 years, Joel A. Barko Sr.; two sons, Joel A. Barko Jr. and wife, Linda, of Connellsville and Joey L. Barko of Mt. Pleasant, S.C.; two daughters, Lisa A. Fox of Irwin and Kathy J. Dill and husband, Henry "Pickle, " at home; three brothers, Kenneth Bowman and wife, Jean, of Wooddale, Braden "Bud" Bowman and wife, Faye, of Dunbar and Melvin Bowman and wife, Jo Ann, of Greensburg; four sisters, Mary Cumberland of Connellsville, Dorothy Hostetler of Mt. Pleasant, Margaret Barko of Connellsville and Frances Barko and husband, Ted, of Greensburg; a brother-in-law, Albert Collins of Mt. Pleasant; three sisters-in-law, Dorothy Bowman of Scottdale, Dixie Bowman of Latrobe and Nancy L. Brashear of Belle Vernon; four grandchildren, Kayla and Kelly Barko and Danny and Devin Fox; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, infant Ethel Bowman and Gerry Collins; and two brothers, Robert and Herbert "Babe" Bowman. Friends will be received Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the EUGENE G. SALOOM FUNERAL HOME INC., 730 W. Main St., Mt. Pleasant, where service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. D. Keith Solomon officiating. Interment will follow in Alverton Cemetery.

Dorothy Exline Barron

Dorothy Exline Barron, 81, of Mt. Pleasant, died Monday, Nov. 12, 2001, at the home of her son, Ronald Pritts, in Andover, Mass. Born March 6, 1920, in Mt. Pleasant, she was a daughter of the late Edgar and Bessie (Kalp) Exline. Prior to her retirement, she was employed by Lenox Crystal, Mt. Pleasant, and Montgomery Wards as a credit manager. She was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Church of God. She was a graduate of Ramsay High School, Class of 1938. She was recognized by "Ripley's Believe It Or Not" for her signature, .X_. In addition, she was a Fallingwater historian. Surviving are three sons, Ronald L. Pritts and wife, Margaret, of Andover, Mass., James E. Pritts and wife, Patricia, of Redwood City, Calif., and Barry L. Pritts and wife, Diane, of Harrisburg; two stepsons, Paul Barron Jr. of Mt. Pleasant and David J. Barron of State College; a stepdaughter, Sandra Hamm and husband, John, of Champion; a sister, Betty Crise and husband, Richard, of Florida; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul "Pete" Barron Sr., in 1978; and a stepdaughter, Linda S. Barron Harshman, in 1970. Friends will be received in the EUGENE G. SALOOM FUNERAL HOME INC., 730 W. Main St., Mt. Pleasant, Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m., at which time her funeral service will begin with the Rev. Charles W. Yost officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
