JOHN H. RUTTER
John H. "Johnny" Rutter, 91, of Greensburg, formerly of Bellefonte, died Sunday, Jan. 2, 2000, at St. Anne Home, Greensburg. He was born June 11, 1908, in Orbisonia, Pa., a son of the late Harvey E. and Mary Myrtle Malone Rutter. He was a retired manager for Houts Freezer Foods, State College. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Johnny was also a member of the Bellefonte Lodge #268 F&AM and a life member of the Undine Fire Co., all of Bellefonte. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Adams and Hope Rutter; and a brother, Charles Rutter. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mary Louise "Polly" Snyder Rutter; a son, John C. "Jack" Rutter and wife, Mina, of Greensburg; three grandchildren, Brian Rutter and wife, Kathy, of Greensburg, Andrew Rutter and wife, Sandra, of Flushing, Mich., and John "Jay" Rutter and wife, Christina; and a great-grandson, John Leonard, all of Long Beach, Calif. Relatives and friends will be received at the KOCH FUNERAL HOME, 2401 S. Atherton St., State College, PA 16801, (814) 237-2712, Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at noon with Pastor James Fox officiating. Interment will be in Centre County Memorial Park, State College. Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, East Howard Street, Bellefonte, PA 16823, or St. Anne Home, 685 Angela Drive, Greensburg, PA 15601. Local arrangements are under the direction of CLEMENT L. PANTALONE FUNERAL HOME, Greensburg.

NANCY F. SADLER
Nancy F. Sadler, 66, of Youngwood, died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2000, in the Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg. She was born April 5, 1933, in Ligonier, a daughter of Ruth Sprung of Youngwood and the late James Snyder. She was a 1951 graduate of Ramsay High School, attended the Westmoreland County Community College, and worked in administration. In addition to her mother, she is survived by a son, Barry Sadler of Youngwood; a brother, Richard Sprung of Houston, Texas; and a sister, Betty Bernas of Lynchburg, Va. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a brother, Jimmy Snyder. Funeral services private, under the direction of the EUGENE G. SALOOM FUNERAL HOME INC., Mt. Pleasant.

RUDOLPH J. SCHEUERLE
Rudolph J. Scheuerle, 63, of Monessen, died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2000, in Mon Valley Hospital, Carroll Township. Born Sept. 16, 1936, in Manor, a son of the late Rudolph and Agnes Bohacik Scheuerle. He had been a resident of Monessen for the past two years, and previously resided in the Mon Valley. He was Protestant by faith. He was a retired music teacher in the Elizabeth Forward School District. He was a member of Local 39, A.F. of M. He was also a member of the Tall Cedar Band, the Manor Fire Department Band, the Bentleyville Fire Department Band, and multiple concert bands. He was a veteran of the Korean conflict, having served in the U.S. Navy. He is survived by a dear friend, Mary Donaldson, with whom he made his home; two sons, Derrick Scheuerle of Memphis, Tenn., and Deven Scheuerle of Belle Vernon; a daughter and son-in-law, Lauren and Patrick McHale of Bolingbrook, Ill.; a grandson, Michael Uhar; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Jan and Marleen Scheuerle of Sewickley and Don and Kathy Scheuerle of Fairfax, Va. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Vicki Salvie. Visitation Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the LEONARD J. PARZYNSKI FUNERAL HOME, Family Owned and Operated, 626 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon. Services Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. D. Edward Bailey, pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Charleroi, officiating. Interment will be in Round Hill Cemetery, Elizabeth Township.

ALVENIA T. WELTY
Alvenia T. Welty, 96, formerly of Mt. Pleasant, died Tuesday, Dec. 14, 1999, in the Scottdale Manor and Rehabilitation Center. She was born Aug. 14, 1903, in Acme, a daughter of the late Daniel and Florence Kalp May. She was a member of the Acme Methodist Church. She is survived by a daughter, Patricia Macioce of Mt. Pleasant and friend, John Dombrowski; two brothers, Carl May and wife, Helen, of Norvelt and Lloyd May and wife, Mary, of Laurelville; and a sister, Lottie Miskovich of Mt. Pleasant. She was predeceased by her husband, John Franklin Welty, in 1979; a daughter, Mary Margaret Echard; two sisters; and five brothers. Funeral services were private; interment followed in the Freeman-Barley Cemetery. Arrangements under the direction of the EUGENE G. SALOOM FUNERAL HOME INC., Mt. Pleasant.

DOROTHY L. SIMPSON
Dorothy L. Simpson, 78, of Hannastown, died Sunday, Jan. 2, 2000, in the Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg. She was born Feb. 8, 1921, in Richburg, N.Y., a daughter of the late Abram and Frances Ward Burch. She was a member of the Keystone Sportsmen's Club Ladies Auxiliary. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, John B. Donoughe, on March 12, 1965, and her second husband, Andrew S. Simpson, on Sept. 22, 1970; and two sisters, Margaret Osgood and Ethel Burch. She is survived by her daughter, Frances and her husband, Arthur Varndell, of Hannastown; two stepsons, Donald "Lindy" and his wife, Catherine Donoughe, of Hannastown and Harry L. Donoughe of Greensburg; a sister, Geraldine Randolph of Conesus, N.Y.; a very good friend, Frank Phillips of Hannastown; and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the BACHA FUNERAL HOME INC., 516 Stanton at Green streets, Greensburg, Tuesday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be private. Private interment Westmoreland County Memorial Park, Hempfield Township.

CHARLES F. ZAMBANO
Charles F. "Charlie" Zambano, 90, of Greensburg, died Sunday, Jan. 2, 2000, in Huntingdon Ridge, North Huntingdon. He was born Jan. 31, 1909, in Hannastown, a son of the late Edgidio and Roselba Marcuzzi Zambano. Prior to his illness, he was owner and operator of Zambano and Sons General Contractors, Greensburg. His firm was the general contractor for the Maplewood United Presbyterian Church, of which he was a longstanding member and elder. He was also a member of the Greensburg YMCA and the Greensburg Lions Club, a former volunteer for the Greensburg United Way, and was a 50-year member of the Commercial Travelers. He was also a former member of the Pennsylvania National Guard Co. I. He was a graduate of Greensburg High School. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Anson Zambano and Quentin "Bingo" Zambano. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Stella Brunelli Zambano; two daughters, Mrs. Cordellia "Dilly" Miller and her husband, Donald, of Irwin and Mrs. Carla Jaenicke and her husband, Dr. Kurt, of Kentucky; four grandchildren, Ian Charles Miller of Washington, D.C., Reed Alexander Miller of Boston, Mass., and Julie M. Jaenicke and Leah C. Jaenicke, both of Kentucky; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Seeno and her husband, Arthur, and Mrs. Martha Acita and her husband, Daniel, all of Greensburg; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Carolyn C. Zambano of Greensburg; and a number of nieces and nephews. There will be no visitation. The family will receive friends at the Maplewood United Presbyterian Church Tuesday from 11:30 a.m. to noon, at which time a memorial service will be held with the Rev. Stephen M. LaSor officiating. Memorial donations may be made to the Maplewood United Presbyterian Church, 108 Woodland Road, Greensburg, PA 15601, or to the Alzheimer's Association, Laurel Mountain Chapter, 1011 Old Salem Road, Greensburg, PA 15601. ALICE M. ZIMMERMAN
Alice M. Zimmerman, 88, of Greensburg, died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2000, in the Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg. She was born Feb. 22, 1911, in Clearfield County, a daughter of the late Frank E. and Jessie Sutherland Wilson Mates. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Greensburg. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, John W. Zimmerman; two brothers: Huey E. and John A. Mates; and four sisters: Pearl Edenbo, Clara May Waugaman, Isabell Thomas and Jessie S. Osterwise. She is survived by two sons: Paul J. Zimmerman of Talbott, Tenn., and John W. Zimmerman of Severna Park, Md.; a daughter: Loretta J. Zimmerman of Greensburg; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; two sisters: Mrs. Marie Pacey and Mrs. Helen R. Johnston, both of Greensburg; and a number of nieces and nephews. There will be no public visitation. A committal service and entombment will be in the Colonial Chapel Mausoleum, St. Clair Cemetery, Greensburg, Wednesday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. E. Allen Scanlon, officiating. Should friends desire, memorials may be placed with the First Lutheran Church, 246 S. Main St., Greensburg. BARNHART FUNERAL HOME, Greensburg, is in charge of arrangements.

HARRY G. FALATOVICH
Harry G. Falatovich, 84, of Hempfield Township, died Monday, Jan. 3, 2000, in the VA Medical Center, Butler. He was born Feb. 21, 1915, in Jeannette, a son of the late Wasyl and Pelagija "Alice" Larantovich Falatovich. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during World War II. Prior to retirement, he worked at Jeannette Glass. He was a member of the Church of the Advent, Jeannette. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Mae Thomas Falatovich; and three brothers, Stephen, Andy and Donald Falatovich. He is survived by two sons, Robert Falatovich of Lancaster and Harry Falatovich Jr. at home; a daughter, Laurie Hindman at home; a granddaughter, Melody Hindman; three sisters, Edith Falatovich of Jeannette, Helen Mars of Brentwood, Calif., and Ann Ellig of Chicago, Ill.; and a number of nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the MASON-GELDER FUNERAL HOME INC., 201 N. First St., Jeannette, Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Martin R. Koss and Pastor Paul Peternel co-officiating. Interment will follow in the Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont.

NEIL E. GORDON
Neil E. Gordon, 79, of Piscataway, N.J., formerly of Lockport, N.Y., and New Stanton, passed away Sunday, Jan. 2, 2000. He was born April 20, 1920, in Baltimore, Md., a son of the late Neil and Hazel Gordon. He was a graduate of Central College, Fayette, Mo., with a B.A. in chemistry, and earned his M.S. at Brooklyn Polytechnic. After working at International Nickel Co. Ltd., he was employed by Westinghouse for 25 years, and in 1955 was supervisor of Technical Services Laboratories, Westinghouse Atomic Power Department in Forest Hills, N.Y. In 1956, he was chairman of the Pittsburgh Conference on Analytical Chemistry and Applied Spectroscopy; 1957-58, president of the Spectroscopy Society of Pittsburgh; and in 1961, president of the National Society for Applied Spectroscopy. He was also an active member of the Society of Applied Spectroscopy, the American Society for Metals, and the American Chemical Society, and served on the Atomic Energy Commission. After his departure from Westinghouse, he continued to be active in these organizations while employed by Guterl/Simonds Steel, as well as after his retirement. He was predeceased by his wife of 57 years, Esther M. Gordon, on Oct. 2, 1998. Neil is survived by a sister, Dr. Fortuna L. Gordon of Louisville, Ky.; and two daughters, Barbara (William Moyle) Green, with whom he resided in Piscataway, and Michele (Michael) McGuire of Greensburg. There will be no viewing or services and interment will be private at the convenience of the family in Sullivan, Mo. Memorials may be made to the Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY 14094. Arrangements by the CONROY FUNERAL HOME, 21 E. Second St., Bound Brook, NJ 08805.

LaRUE A. KENNELL
LaRue A. Kennell, 81, of Madison, died Monday, Jan. 3, 2000, at the Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg. She was born Aug. 11, 1918, in South Huntingdon Township, a daughter of the late Homer and Jennie Leasure Geckle. Prior to retirement, she was employed by the Westmoreland Regional Hospital in the laundry department and also in the Centralized Linen Service as a seamstress. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John C. Kennell; a son, Clifford "Buck" Kennell; and a sister, Keziah Spoonhoward. Surviving are a son, Richard Kennell of Madison, with whom she resided; a daughter-in-law, Julia Kennell of Yukon; two granddaughters, Kris Lewis and her husband, Terry, of Madison and Marci Palmer and her husband, Nick, of Shrewsbury, Mass.; and a niece, Dorothy Spoonhoward Black of Mt. Pleasant. Friends will be received at the BEATTY-RICH FUNERAL HOME INC., Route 136, Madison, Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held in the funeral home Thursday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Robert Moffat officiating. Interment will follow in the Madison Union Cemetery.
