JAMES E. KRUG SR.
James E. Krug Sr., 76, of Greensburg RD1, died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2000, in Westmoreland Manor, Hempfield Township. He was born Oct. 6, 1923, in Ebensburg, a son of the late William and Mary Henry Krug. Prior to retirement, he had been employed by the U.S. Postal Service in Greensburg. He was a member of the Blessed Sacrament Cathedral, Greensburg, and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, William Krug; and a sister, Martha Adams. He is survived by a son, James E. Jr. and his wife, Mary Ann Krug, of Greensburg RD11; three daughters, Louise and her husband, Keith "Pete" Highland, of Jeannette, Irene and her husband, Jim Moore, of Mt. Pleasant and Ruth and her husband, David Stauffer, of Greensburg; 14 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy LaQuaglia of California and Thelma Perry of Utah; his former wife, Martha Diehl of Greensburg; and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the BACHA FUNERAL HOME INC., 516 Stanton at Green streets, Greensburg, Thursday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. A blessing service will be held in the funeral home Friday at 11 a.m. Interment with military honors provided by the VFW Post 33 Honor Guard will follow in the Westmoreland County Memorial Park, Hempfield Township.

NORMA D. (FURY) LONIGRO
Norma D. (Fury) Lonigro, 68, of Greensburg, died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2000, in the Greensburg Nursing and Convalescent Center, Hempfield Township. She was born Aug. 21, 1931, in Greensburg, a daughter of the late Thomas S. and Inez M. (DePodesta) Fury. She was a member of the Church of St. Paul, Greensburg, and the Greensburg Club of Italian Women. Norma was a 1953 graduate cum laude of Seton Hill College, Greensburg, and had taught in the biology department of Seton Hill College for five years. She was an outstanding teacher of anatomy and physiology, teaching scores of nurses at four different local hospital schools of nursing. She sat on the five-year review board for the National League of Nursing Examination. She had been a research assistant with Sister Florence Marie Scott, S.C., at the Woods Hall Marine Laboratory in Massachusetts. Norma suffered from the effects of multiple sclerosis for more than 30 years. She taught by example, demonstrating no resentment of the inevitable test of life; the daily challenge to her fortitude by the adversity of total disability. She was a paragon of patient, motionless existence; always a smiling face that touched the conscious awareness of all. Survived by her husband, Paul J. Lonigro; a son, Francis L. and his wife, Donna Lonigro, of Latrobe; twin daughters, Lucy and her husband, John Rause, of Cleveland, Ohio, and Florence and her husband, Marc Smith, of Latrobe; four grandsons, Derek Smith, Alexander Smith, Anthony Lonigro, and Donato Lonigro; three sisters, Mrs. Dom (Eleanor) Finoli of Greensburg, Mrs. Emil (Betty) Pellegrini of Bradenton, Fla., and Mary Ann Calabrase of Greensburg; several nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and great-nephews. Friends will be received at the BACHA FUNERAL HOME INC., 516 Stanton at Green streets, Greensburg, Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. A blessing service will be held in the funeral home Friday at 9 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. in the Church of St. Paul, Greensburg. Interment will follow in the Greensburg Catholic Cemetery, Hempfield Township. Family suggests, memorial contributions to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, 1040 Fifth Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15219.

ROBERT R. SHAFFER
Robert R. Shaffer, 76, of Jeannette, died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2000, in Jeannette District Memorial Hospital. He was born July 18, 1923, in East Pittsburgh, a son of the late Russell and Esther May Backus Shaffer. Prior to retirement, he was employed by Westinghouse Electric in East Pittsburgh. He was also a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Penn Evangelical Lutheran Church, the Westinghouse Veterans Association and the Westinghouse Foremen's Association. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, John Kirkpatrick. He is survived by his wife, Ida May Weiss Shaffer; a daughter, Marcia Shaffer Barton and her husband, Mark, of Jacksonville, N.C.; a son, Kirk James Shaffer and his wife, Cathy, of Broken Arrow, Okla.; two grandsons, Kent N. Shaffer and Jamison K. Shaffer; and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received in the MASON-GELDER FUNERAL HOME INC., 201 N. First St., Jeannette, Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Robert J. Marks officiating. Interment will follow in Jeannette Memorial Park, Penn Township. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Laurel Mountains Chapter, 1011 Old Salem Road, Greensburg, PA 15601.

JANET BERNICE BEANNER
Janet Bernice Beanner, 81, of Penn Township, died Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2000, in her home. She was born Oct. 18, 1918, in Export, a daughter of the late Charles and Edna Kunkle Bowers. She was a member of the Denmark Manor United Church of Christ and was a former member of the church choir. She was a member of the Women's Fellowship and the Women's Guild of the church, the Harrison City Women's Club, and the Harrison City Homemakers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Bowers. Survived by her husband of 58 years, Clyde A. Beanner; two daughters, Connie and husband, Joseph Florek, of Penn Township and Darlene and husband, Silvio Cavada, of Boquet; and three grandchildren, Troy and Scott Cavada, and Tris Hazlett. Friends will be received at the JAMES E. LINDSAY FUNERAL HOME INC., Main Street, Harrison City, Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Joseph W. Kiewra officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Penn Township.

FRANCES LEAH STERN BLAZOWICH
Frances Leah Stern Blazowich, 80, of St. Anne Home, Greensburg, died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2000. She was born July 7, 1919, in Herminie, a daughter of the late Gaspar Michael Stern and Maria A. Stern. She was the wife of the late Michael J. Blazowich of North Huntingdon. She is survived by a sister, Mrs. Robert K. (Agnes Ruth) Dorl of Clarion. There will be no visitation. Private funeral services will be held Thursday at the JAY A. HOFFER FUNERAL HOME, Norvelt, with the Rev. Dr. Dale L. Porterfield, of the Community Church of Hecla, Southwest, Pa., officiating. Interment in Westmoreland County Memorial Park, Hempfield Township. Sandra L. Hoffer, funeral director.

ROBERT COPPOLA
Robert Coppola, 61, of Manor, died Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2000, in Jeannette District Memorial Hospital. He was born Dec. 1, 1938, in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Epiphany and Marie Milletary Coppola. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a truck driver by JCPenney and the former Climax Furniture Co. of South Hills. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church of Irwin, the Italian Sons and Daughters of America, and Bella Vista Lodge #253. Surviving are his wife, Maryanne Birkhimer Coppola; a son, Adam Robert Coppola of White Oak; and two brothers, Edward Coppola of Terra Alta, W.Va., and Thomas R. Coppola of Pittsburgh. Friends will be received at the JOSEPH F. OTT FUNERAL HOME INC., Fifth and Oak streets, Irwin, Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday at noon in the Immaculate Conception Church. Interment will follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery, North Huntingdon.

SOPHIE DELLAPENNA
Sophie Dellapenna, 83, of Rillton, died Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2000, at the Briarcliff Pavilion, North Huntingdon. She was born Nov. 19, 1916, in Monongahela, a daughter of the late Peter and Mary (Dickun) Karmazin. Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Dellapenna, "Sophie," was employed as a cook at the Jacktown Ride And Hunt Club, Irwin. Her memberships included St. Edward Roman Catholic Church, Herminie, and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Rillton Volunteer Fire Department. Mrs. Dellapenna is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Sophie Laber and her husband, Fred, of North Huntingdon; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three brothers, Pete Karmazin of Florida, Michael Karmazin of New Orleans, La., and John Karmazin of New Jersey; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Dellapenna, in 1981; a son, Charles Dellapenna Jr.; a brother, Andrew Karmazin; and two sisters, Martha Massaglia and Ann Bruno. Friends will be received at the JOSEPH W. NICKELS FUNERAL HOME INC., Herminie, Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday at 9:30 a.m. in St. Edward Roman Catholic Church, Herminie, with Father Lawrence L. Manchas as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Irwin Union Cemetery. A St. Edward parish rosary will be recited Friday at 3:30 p.m. in the funeral home. A parish wake service will be held Friday at 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home.

JOSEPH A. KNAUS
Joseph A. Knaus, 85, of Latrobe, formerly of Marguerite, died Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2000, at Harmon House Care Center, Mt. Pleasant. He was born March 3, 1914, in Marguerite, a son of the late Joseph and Sophia (Kaliney) Knouse. He had worked for the Frick Mining Company then retired after working for Westmoreland County Department of Roads and Bridges. He was a member of the St. Benedict Catholic Church, Marguerite, the Holy Name Society of St. Benedict, Jednota Branch #388 of Marguerite, and was a life member of Marguerite Volunteer Fire Department. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Robert, Ralph, Edward, and Raymond Knouse. He is survived by his wife, Olive A. (Bernat) Knaus; nine children, Mrs. Melvin (Karen) Mertz of Indianapolis, Ind., Mrs. Albert L. (Joan) Megrey of Greensburg RD8, Mrs. Audrey Tomasello of Pittsburgh, Ronald J. Knaus and wife, Kay, of Marguerite, Mrs. Thomas (Becky) Kemerer of Greensburg, Joseph F. Knaus and wife, Edna, of Pittsburgh, Mrs. William (Gladys) Monroe of Latrobe, Edward P. Knaus and wife, Cindy, of Greensburg RD7, and Mrs. David (Celeste) Koch of Murrysville; 19 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. William (Mayme) Ault of Greensburg and Cecilia Knouse of Greensburg RD7; and a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends will be received at the GAUT-BACHA FUNERAL HOME INC., Pleasant Unity, Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Benedict Catholic Church, Marguerite, Saturday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Stephen R. Honeygosky, O.S.B., as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Vincent Cemetery, Unity Township. Family suggests memorial contributions be made to the St. Benedict Renovation Fund, RD8, Box 560, Greensburg, PA 15601.

RUTH PHILLIPS KORODY
Ruth Phillips Korody, 84, of North Huntingdon, died Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2000, in Baldock Health Care Centre, North Huntingdon. She was born Oct. 18, 1915, in Wilkinsburg, a daughter of the late Henry C. and Edna May Gaskill Heskitt. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Edgar N. Phillips; her second husband, Raymond Korody; a brother, Daniel Heskitt; and a sister, Virginia Heskitt. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. William (Jo Ann) McKay of North Huntingdon; a stepdaughter, Mrs. James (Jean) Downs of Jeannette; a sister, Anna May Howell of Oklahoma; three grandchildren, Brian and Alan McKay, and Lynn Eichelberger; and nine great-grandchildren. Friends will be received at the SHIRLEY-KUKICH FUNERAL HOME INC., Clay Pike, Circleville, North Huntingdon, Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral service will be held Saturday at 11:30 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Robert Menges officiating. Interment will follow in Penn-Lincoln Memorial Park.

JAMES S. LAMONT JR.
James S. Lamont Jr., 85, of Export RD2 (Washington Township), formerly of Pittsburgh and Erie, died Monday, Jan. 24, 2000, in the Forbes Regional Hospital, Monroeville. He was born April 19, 1914, in Munhall, a son of the late James S. and Pamelia W. Turner Lamont. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a metallurgical engineer for National Forge in Erie and U.S. Steel in Homestead. He was a 1956 graduate of the Carnegie Institute of Technology, a member of the F&AM, Syria Shrine and Scottish Rite, all in Erie, and a member of the Wayside Presbyterian Church in Fairview. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Kinley Lamont, in 1990, and by a number of brothers and sisters. He is survived by a son and three daughters: Susan Mansfield of Louisville, Ky., Stuart K. Lamont and his wife, Roseann, of Export RD2, with whom he made his home, Jill Kujala and her husband, Robert, of Boynton Beach, Fla., and Janet Tench of Columbus, Ohio; and by 12 grandchildren. A private family viewing and services were held at the JOHN L. BASH FUNERAL HOME, 152 Abbe Place, Delmont, (724) 468-8381, Wednesday morning with the Rev. William C. McGuirk officiating.
