Melva E. Kleppner, 86, on Thursday, Nov. 15, 2001, at Mariner Health Care Center, Coraopolis. She was born in Coaldale, Pa., Feb. 4, 1915, daughter of the late Henry and Hannah Derr Kleppinger. She was a member of Aspinwall United Presbyterian Church, Aspinwall American Legion Auxilliary and the Ambridge Sportsman Club. Survived by two daughters, Mary Jane Arture and Ellen Tanski; five grandchildren, Michael Arture, Robert E. Kleppinger Jr., Craig Arture, Brian Kleppner and Susan Tanski; one great-grandchild, Cole Christopher Kleppner; two brothers, George and James Kleppinger; her dear friend and companion, Ted Kasper. Preceded in death by her husband, Harold E. Kleppner; a son, Robert E. Kleppner Sr.; three brothers, Henry, William and Thomas Kleppinger; one sister, Mary Jane Heisler. Friends received from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at WORRELL FUNERAL HOME, corner of Main and Ninth Streets, Sharpsburg, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday with the Rev. Mary Jane Fullerton as officiant. Interment in Allegheny Cemetery, Lawrenceville.

Elizabeth (Kaslo) Puchalik

Elizabeth (Kaslo) Puchalik, 92, died Thursday, Nov. 15, 2001, in Kane Regional Center. She was born March 2, 1909, in Port Vue, daughter of John and Elizabeth (Rumach) Kaslo. She was a licensed practical nurse at the Jewish Home for the Aged. She was a member of St. Mark's Parish in Liberty and was a former member of the church choir and Christian Mothers Guild. Member of Liberty Borough Seniors, Friendship Club and S.W.O.F. Preceded in death by her husband, Steve Puchalik. Survived by two daughters, Elaine Anderseine of Springdale and Elizabeth Volosin of Monroeville; a sister, Anna Wargo of Liberty; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in the DANIEL F. BEKAVAC FUNERAL HOME, 4504 Walnut St., Versailles. Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Mark's Parish, Liberty, with Father Gerald Mikonis as celebrant. Interment in Calvary Cemetery, Port Vue.

HATTIE L. BALE
Hattie L. Bale, 89, of Ligonier, died Tuesday, Nov. 9, 1999, at Edgewood Nursing Center, Youngstown, Pa. She was born Sept. 14, 1910, in Germany, a daughter of the late Ernst and Dorothea Lorcher. She was a member of the former Ligonier B.P.W. and the Laughlintown Community Center. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William H. Bale, in 1976; and 12 brothers and sisters. She is survived by a son, William R. and wife, Maryellyn Bale, of Sarver; a daughter, Margery A. Bale of Ligonier; a granddaughter, Hope A. Bale of Ann Arbor, Mich.; and nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the J. PAUL McCRACKEN FUNERAL HOME INC., 144 E. Main St., Ligonier. Service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. F. Edmund Jenkins officiating. Interment Ligonier Valley Cemetery. Memorial contributions to the Ligonier Valley Library.

RICHARD BALLANTINE
Richard Ballantine, of Vero Beach, Fla., formerly of Penn Hills, died Monday, Nov. 8, 1999. Mr. Ballantine was a boiler maker for Local 154. He was the beloved husband of Frances Ballantine and the late Jane White; father of Maureen DeDobbeleer of Odessa, Fla., and Raymond R. Ballantine of Shaler Township; brother of Margaret Hood of England; grandfather of Raymond and Brian Ballantine, Terri Butler, Michele and Rachel DeDobbeleer; and two great-grandchildren. Friends received at the FRANK R. PERMAN FUNERAL HOME INC., 923 Saxonburg Blvd. at Route 8, Shaler Township, Wednesday and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services at Perman Funeral Home Friday at 11 a.m. Family respectfully suggests, donations be made to the American Diabetes Association.

M. THOBURN BANKS
M. Thoburn Banks, 89, of Scottdale, passed away Tuesday evening, Nov. 9, 1999, at his residence. He was born in Lewistown, Pa., Nov. 1, 1910, a son of the late George Warren and Blanche Rebecca Wright Banks. Tobe was a retired electrical designer for R.E. Uptegraff Manufacturing Company of Scottdale, where he worked from 1937-1975. While employed with R.E. Uptegraff, Tobe also worked at the original Pittsburgh plant and served as manager of the plant in Terra Alta, W.Va. He was a longtime member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Scottdale, the Wesley Brotherhood Class, and the Retired United Methodist Men. A 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason, Tobe Held membership with the Marion Masonic Lodge #562 of Scottdale, the Terra Alta, W.Va. Masonic Lodge #106, and the Westmoreland Forest Tall Cedars of Lebanon. He was a graduate of Oil City High School with the Class of 1928 and attended Carnegie Institute of Technology from 1928-1930. Tobe is survived by his loving children: Barbara Lois Banks and her husband, Paul Michael Moran, of Union, Ky., James W. Banks and his wife, Linda (Beal), of Scottdale, Carole Robbins and her husband, Michael, of Pittsburgh, Georg R. Banks and wife, Martha (Rolla), of Scottdale, John D. Banks of Ravenna, Ohio, and Patricia A. Franks of Scottdale; eight loving grandchildren, Barbara and Paula Moran, Chris Banks, Julie Carson, Doug Banks, Jooke and Ben Robbins, and Steven Banks; a great-grandson, Riley J. Banks; a sister-in-law, Janet Porter Banks of Uniontown, formerly of Scottdale; and two nephews. In addition to his parents, Tobe was preceded in death by his wife, Lydia Lackman Banks, on Jan. 18, 1966; a great-grandson, Ethan Raymond Carson, on April 15, 1996; and two brothers, Seyford W. Banks and Duane G. Banks. Family and friends will be received at the ROBERT B. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME, 105 Spring St., Scottdale, (724) 887-5300, Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel, with the Rev. Dr. Paul B. Morris officiating. Graveside committal services and interment will follow in Green Ridge Memorial Park, Bullskin Township, next to his late wife. Family suggests memorials to: Why Me of PA/Breast Cancer Education, 5761 Library Road, Bethel Park, PA 15102, in memory of Lydia and M.T. Banks.

WILLIAM C. BISPING
William C. Bisping, 84, of New Stanton, died Monday, Nov. 8, 1999, at Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg. He was born Aug. 23, 1915, in Charleroi, a son of the late Harry E. and Elizabeth Wagner Bisping. He was a charter member of Assembly of God Church, New Stanton, and an elder and deacon under the Rev. G. Jack Provard. He attended Victory Chapel in Greensburg. He and his wife spent their lives spreading the Gospel through written literature. Also, he was a former general county manager for Westmoreland Farm Bureau and retired from Associated Truck Lines. He is survived by his wife, Isabelle Parks Bisping; his children, Mrs. Jesse (Kathleen) VanDyke and Mrs. Joseph A. (Carolyn E.) Miller, both of Hunker, William H. Bisping and wife, Ly, of Greensburg, and James R. Bisping of Hunker; 15 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Harry F. Bisping; a sister, Betty Pahel; and an infant brother, Howard Bisping. Friends were received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the C. RICHARD McCAULEY FUNERAL HOME INC., Youngwood, where service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Byron Eisaman officiating. Interment Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont.

GARY A. BOWEN
Gary A. "Pappy" Bowen, 57, of Mt. Pleasant, died Tuesday, Nov. 9, 1999, in Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg. He was born Jan. 10, 1942, in Knox, Ill., a son of the late Clyde D. and Mildred Bogswell Bowen. He attended Visitation Roman Catholic Church, Mt. Pleasant. He was a graduate of the Illinois Police Academy. He was a private in the U.S. Army. Gary was a police sergeant, deputy director, and EMT with the Galva Police in Illinois; a truck driver for Carlson Trucking; a small engine repairman for True Value Duncan in Jeannette; and a CPR instructor. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father- and mother-in-law, Steve Jr. and Beulah Harrold Potoka. He is survived by his wife of 13 years, Emmie Potoka Ruff-Bowen; a son, Richard E. Ruff Jr. and wife, Sara, of Mt. Pleasant; a daughter, Tina Ruff at home; a granddaughter, Jamie Mimnaugh; a sister, Bev Gerard and husband, Bob, of Galva, Ill.; and many nieces, nephews, and in-laws. Friends were received in the EUGENE G. SALOOM FUNERAL HOME INC., Main Street, Mt. Pleasant, Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and will be received Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A blessing service will be held in the funeral home Friday at 9:30 a.m., followed by a 10 a.m. Mass to be celebrated at Visitation R.C. Church with the Rev. Anthony W. Ditto as celebrant. Interment will follow in Visitation Cemetery with full military rites accorded by American Legion Post 446.

MICHAEL G. FERKETIC
Michael G. Ferketic, of Indiana Township, on Tuesday, Nov. 9, 1999. Mr. Ferketic was a building inspector for the Pennsylvania Department of General Services. He was the beloved husband of Mary Lou Erdeljac Ferketic; father of James M. Ferketic of Jamestown, N.Y.; brother of Lois Netzel of Etna, Bill and Richard Ferketic, both of Etna, and Robert Ferketic of Bowie, Md.; and stepson of Helen Ferketic. Friends received at the FRANK R. PERMAN FUNERAL HOME INC., 923 Saxonburg Blvd. at Route 8, Shaler Township, Thursday and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Glenshaw, Saturday at 11:30 a.m. Interment at Assumption Cemetery, Hampton Township.

KATHRYN GOODY HLEBECHUK
Kathryn Goody Hlebechuk, 72, of Jeannette, died Tuesday, Nov. 9, 1999, in Jeannette District Memorial Hospital. She was born April 2, 1927, in Wilmerding, a daughter of the late Michael and Anna Romansky Goody. Kathryn was a devoted member of the St. Demetrius Ukrainian Catholic Church of Jeannette and also a member of the Ukrainian Club of Wilmerding. She was a graduate of Jeannette High School and was employed by the former Jeannette Glass and Shade & Novelty. Kathryn is survived by her loving and dedicated husband of 44 years, Edward M. Hlebechuk; three sons, Edward Hlebechuk and wife, Leslie, and Donald Hlebechuk, all of Jeannette, and David Hlebechuk and wife, Robin, of Greensburg; three daughters, Anne Persichetti and her husband, Mark, of New Alexandria, Barbara Colonna and her husband, John, and Nancy Cochran and her husband, Mark, all of Jeannette; 12 wonderful grandchildren; two sisters, Lillian Robosky and her husband, Joseph, of North Huntingdon and Margaret Kosmach and her husband, William, of Ohio; two brothers, Walter Goody and Joseph Goody and his wife, Sandra, all of Virginia; and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends were received at the JOHN V. GRAZIANO FUNERAL HOME INC., 228 N. Second St., Jeannette, Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and will be received Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Panachida services will take place Friday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home, followed by Divine Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in the St. Demetrius Ukrainian Catholic Church. Interment will follow in the St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery, North Versailles. Parastas services will take place Thursday at 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home.

STELLA LAUER
Stella "Sally" Lauer, 63, of Murrysville, on Wednesday, Nov. 10, 1999. Born Aug. 2, 1936, in Braddock, a daughter of the late Irvin and Stella Welsh Rittko. She was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Export. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Daniel; two brothers, Howard and Theodore Rittko; and three sisters, Edith Creighton, Alice Zimmerman, and Mildred Wilcox, who just passed away Tuesday, Nov. 9. Surviving are her husband, John B. Lauer; a brother, Irvin Rittko and wife, Gladys, of Export; and two sisters, Ella Soles and May Hill and husband, Frank, both of Murrysville. Friends will be received at the EDWIN N. WOLFE FUNERAL HOME INC., Export, Thursday and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Gregory B. Held officiating. Interment Restland Memorial Park.
