Theophile "Ted" Dubois
1914 - 2008

Theophile "Ted" Dubois, 93, of Circuit Dr. died Saturday in the Mt. St. Francis Health Center, Woonsocket. He was the husband of Marie (Gagnon) Dubois, they had been married for the past sixty six years.

Born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, Woonsocket he was the son of the late Ernest and Basalice (Ouellett) Dubois. He resided in Cumberland over sixty years.

He was a union carpenter working out of the Boston Carpenters Union for many years retiring in 1976. He was previously self employed building homes locally. He also built the Cumberland Community School playground in 1984.

He was a WW II, U. S. Navy veteran. He was a communicant of St. John Vianney Church, Cumberland and a member of the St. John Vianney Seniors and Bowling League.
Besides his wife he leaves a daughter, Diane Daigle of Cumberland. Two granddaughters, Jacqueline Nunes of Michigan and Jennifer Cary of Pascoag, and five great-grandchildren. He was also the brother of the late J. Eugene Dubois, Alice Heroux, Ida Robilotto and Agnes Heroux.

A funeral with military honors will be held Wednesday at 9 a.m. from the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Rd. Rt. 122, Cumberland. Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. John Vianney Church, Diamond Hill Rd., Cumberland. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Cumberland.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Calling hours Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m.

Eugene A. St.Laurent
Eugene A. St. Laurent, 77, of Alton Ave. died Monday in the Oakland Grove Nursing Home, Woonsocket . He was the husband of Nancy Ann (Hamel) St. Laurent .

Born in Woonsocket he was the son of the late Eugene and Hattie (Lamy) St. Laurent . He lived in Cumberland for the past forty-four years, previously residing in Woonsocket .

He was employed as a manager by New England Telephone Co. for thirty-four years, retiring in 1992.

He was a U. S. Army veteran, stationed in Germany with the Seventh Army during the Korean War.

He was a daily communicant of St. Joan of Arc Church , Cumberland , and also frequently attended mass at St. James Church, Manville.

Besides his wife he leaves three sons, Paul and his wife Anne St . Laurent and their daughter Katelyn of Smithfield, John and his wife Lurdes St. Laurent and their children Kimberly, Jeffrey and Gregory of South Attleboro, David and his wife Danielle St. Laurent and their children Francine and Elliot of North Pole, AK, one daughter, Ann-Marie St. Laurent and her husband David Graham of Bolton , MA , two brothers, Normand St. Laurent of Woonsocket and Arthur St. Laurent of North Smithfield . He was also the brother of the late Lucille Delaware and Irene Baker.

Funeral will be held Friday at 9 a.m. from the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Rd. , Rt. 122, Cumberland . Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Joan of Arc Church , Mendon Rd. , Cumberland . Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery , Cumberland .

Anne Rausch
1913 - 2008

Anne (Lucidi) Rausch, 94 of Diamond Hill Road passed away Monday in Oak Hill Nursing Home, Pawtucket. She was the wife of the late Bertholdt Rausch.

Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Nicola and Maria (Eulara) Lucidi. She resided in Cumberland for the past 59 years.

She was a communicant of St. Aidan Church, Cumberland.

She is survived by her daughter Carol-Ann Rausch of Cumberland and her son Bob Rausch of Monterey, MA, one brother Frank Lucidi of Providence and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Caroline Costabile, Samuel Lucidi and Anthony Lucidi.

Her funeral will be held Friday at 8 AM from the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Cumberland. Mass of Christian Burial at 9 AM in St. Aidan Church, Diamond Hill Road, Cumberland. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Cumberland.

Karen M. Gagnon
1962 - 2008

Karen M. Gagnon, 46 of Cadoret Dr., died Wednesday, in the Memorial Hospital, Pawtucket. She was the wife of Paul Gagnon.
Born in Central Falls, RI, She was the daughter of the late William and Theresa (Sherry) Drezek. She resided in Cumberland for the past 18 years.

She was a communicant of St. John Vianney Church, Cumberland.

She was employed by The Home Depot, South Attleboro, for the past 15 years.

Besides her husband she leaves two daughters, Heather M. Gagnon and Ashley E. Gagnon both at home.

Her funeral will be held Saturday, 9:30 a.m. from the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland. Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in St. John Vianney Church. Burial will follow in the Mt. St. Mary Cemetery, Pawtucket.

Mary Cecile Geddes
1922 - 2008

Mary Cecile Geddes, 85, died peacefully surrounded by her family. Born in Providence she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Mary (Clavin) Byron. She resided most of her life in Cumberland.
She was the wife of the late Frank C. Geddes.

She was a graduate of Hope High School, St. Joseph School of Nursing and worked as a Registered Nurse for the Visiting Nurses Service, Providence, Woonsocket Hospital and the Grandview Nursing Center, Cumberland.

She advocated for the developmentally disabled, as President of the Northern RI ARC. Mrs. Geddes also loved family events, sewing, crafts and gardening. She had been active in the Mercymount Mothers Club, Girl Scouts, CHS Football Mothers Club and St. Joseph Church Women's Club.

She has five children, Kathleen Darby and her husband John and Rosemary Crozier and her husband Robert both of Cumberland, Bernadette Andrews and her husband Edward of Lincoln, Robert Geddes and his wife Janice of Cumberland and John Geddes of Woonsocket. She also leaves eight grandchildren. She also leaves four special friends, Mary Barrett, Helen James, Rose White, and Sheila Zuhusky. She was the sister of the late Robert Byron.

Her funeral will be held Thursday with at Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Historic St. Joseph Church, Mendon Rd., Cumberland. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Cumberland.

Theresa Y. Morin
September 10, 1934 - January 30, 2008

Theresa Y. (Richard) Morin, 74, of School Street, Lincoln formerly of Mendon Road, passed away on Wednesday in Rhode Island Hospital, Providence.

Mrs. Morin was the daughter of the late Lionel and Jeannette (Boucher) Richard. She resided in Lincoln for the past 12 years, previously residing in Cumberland for many years.

She was a self employed seamstress, as well as an employee of Texas Instruments for many years until her retirement.

Mrs. Morin was a communicant of the St. Joseph Church, Cumberland.

She leaves her beloved children, including three sons, Craig Morin of Lincoln, Thomas Morin of Maine, Timothy Morin of Cumberland and one daughter Elizabeth Morin of West Warwick. She also leaves four brothers, Real Richard, Peter Richard, Normand Richard, and John Richard; and five sisters, Gisele Vigeant, Jeannine Voyer, Pierrette Robert, Doris Kerman, and Madeleine Kiras; five grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Claude Richard and Germaine Berard.

Her funeral will be held Tuesday at 8 AM from the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 AM in the Historic St. Joseph Church, 1303 Mendon Road, Cumberland. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Raymond R. Sherry
1930 - 2008

Raymond R. Sherry, 77, of Manville Hill Rd., died Tuesday in the R. I. Hospital, Providence. He was the husband of Helen D. (Rodrigues) Sherry.

Born in Pawtucket he was the son of the late Joseph and Mary (McKitchen) Sherry. He had resided in Cumberland for the past fifty-six years.

He was employed by the Texas Instruments Corp., Attleboro for twenty-nine years until his retirement. He was a bus monitor for the Cumberland School Department for the past seven years.

He was a co-founder of the Cumberland Colts Preteen Football Team in 1972. He ran a very successful team operation also serving as head coach for twelve years until he turned the program over to others thereby continuing the team legacy. He also supported his wife during the 1960's and 70's and her dedication to the children of the community through her involvement with the Our Lady of Fatima C.Y.O. and other volunteer endeavors.

He was a member of the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick, Cumberland. He was also an avid golfer and a member of the Rehoboth Country Club.

Besides his wife he leaves two daughters, Judith Sherry of Burlington, VT and Lisa Orsini of Cumberland. One son, Marco Vieira of Cumberland. One brother, Vincent Sherry and a sister Florence Allcock both of Cumberland. He also leaves four cherished grandchildren.

His funeral will be held Friday at 8 a.m. from the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Rd. Rt. 122, Cumberland. Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. in St. Aidan Church, Diamond Hill Rd., Cumberland. Burial will follow in Mt. St. Mary Cemetery, Pawtucket.

Valerio P. Mello
1915 - 2008

Valerio P. Mello, 92, of Diamond Hill Rd. died Monday in the Mt. St. Rita Health Center, Cumberland. He was the husband of the late Isabelle (Matta) Mello.

Born in Penalva do Castelo, Portugal, he was the son of the late Jose B. P. and Maria R. (Ferreira) Melo. He came to this country in 1937 settling in New York later moving to Pawtucket. He resided in Cumberland for the past fifty six years.

He was the President of East Side Travel, Pawtucket since 1964. Previously he was the President of Beverage Hill Liquors, Pawtucket from 1951. to 1964.

While in Portugal he was a solider with the Portuguese Army. He was also a U.S. Army veteran serving during WW II.

Mr. Mello was a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church, a member of the Clube Juventude Lusitana, Clube Madeirense and the Seven Castles Club of the Blackstone Valley.

He leaves three sons, Anthony and his wife Kelley Mello of North Smithfield, Carlos and his wife Teresa Mello of Weston, CT and Valerio and his wife Constance Mello of Cumberland. He also leaves seven grandchildren and one great grandchild.

His funeral will be held Saturday at 9 a.m. from the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Rd. Rt. 122, Cumberland. Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Fatima Dr., Cumberland. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Cumberland.

Joseph A. Lamothe
1950 - 2008
Joseph A. Lamothe, 57, of A St., died Saturday at home.

Born in Pawtucket he was the son of Florence (Lachapelle) Lamothe-Iannetta with; whom he made his home and the late Joseph H. Lamothe. He was a life long Cumberland resident.

He was an employee of the J & M Mower Sales and Service, Pawtucket for over thirty years.

He was a U. S. Army veteran serving during the Viet Nam era.

He was a music enthusiast and played keyboards with the band know locally as "The Scoundrels" for many years.

Besides his mother he leaves a son Jason A. Lamothe of Cumberland and a daughter Mellisa A. Barras of Winston, GA. Two sisters, Arlene F. Hendrick of Rensselaer, NY and Margaret A. Gariepy of Woonsocket. He also leaves six grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Florence R. Desmarais.

A funeral with military honors will be held Wednesday at 8 a.m. from the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Rd. Rt. 122, Cumberland. Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. in Historic St. Joseph Church, Mendon Rd., Cumberland. Burial will be private.

Arthur F. Moody
1922 - 2008
Arthur F. Moody, 85 of Reservoir Road and formerly of Polk City, FL., and Arlington, VT., passed away Monday in Landmark Medical Center, Woonsocket. He was the husband of N. Lorraine Moody.

Born in New York City, NY he was the son of the late Arthur E. and Selma (Holst) Moody. He resided in Cumberland for the past 6 months previously residing in Polk City, FL., for 12 years and Arlington, VT., for most of his life.

Mr. Moody was Vice President of Engineering for Mack Molding Co., of Arlington, VT., for 50 years until his retirement.

He was a WW II US Army Veteran serving in Africa and France.
He was a member of the Mason's of the Red Mountain Lodge in Arlington, VT.,and a member of Fore Travel Motor Home Club.
He was a communicant of Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Cumberland and St. James Episcopal Church, Arlington, VT.

Beside his wife he leaves two sons, Frederick A. "Rick" Moody and his wife RosAnn of Vernon, CT., and Christian J. Moody and his wife Patricia of Brentwood Bay, British Columbia. One daughter Dr. Betsy L. Moody and Benjamin Rice of Cumberland. Two brother in laws Frederick H. Grout and his wife Dorothy of Arlington, VT., and Joel F. Grout of Manchester, CT. Seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, one great great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.

His funeral will be held Thursday at 11 AM in the Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 120 Nate Whipple Highway, Cumberland. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Antonio E. Rei
1926 - 2008

Antonio E. Rei, 81, of Cumberland passed away Sunday, February 17th at Rhode Island Hospital. He was born in Prados, Portugal and came to the United States in 1973. He was a husband to Irene Rei for 59 years.

Besides his wife, he leaves six sons, Manuel Rei of Warwick, Armenio Rei of Cranston, Jose Rei of Pawtucket, Francisco Rei, Diamantino Rei and Gilberto Rei, all of Cumberland; three daughters, Carma Santos, Grace Almeida both of Cumberland, and Ana Delamare of Smithfield; two sisters, Carolina Simao and Grace Simao, both of Cumberland; and he also leaves 16 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

He enjoyed his retirement outdoors, in his beautiful garden.

Frank A. Matta
1921 - 2008
Frank A. Matta, 87, of Tingley Dr., Cumberland, died Monday, Feb. 18th at Miriam Hospital. He was the husband of Sylvia Matta, who died eight weeks ago.
He is survived by his children Frank Matta and his wife Suzanne of Cumberland, Gregory Matta and his wife Lois Kelly of Cumberland, Christine Bishop and her husband Bob Bishop of Oakwood, Georgia; grandchildren Nicole Reed, Currie Bishop, Bethany Bishop and Ian Matta; brothers George Matta of Tiverton and John Matta of Cumberland, and sisters Hilda Cabral and Clara Lavelle of Cumberland, and Lillian Mathews and Irene Souza of North Smithfield.

Frank was president of Central Beverage, Inc., from 1973 until the business was acquired in 1998; president of Club Madeirense in Central Falls from 1942-45 and 1954-58, and a member of Four Corners Community Chapel in Cumberland and Our Lady of Fatima Church, Cumberland.

His funeral will be held Saturday at 9 a.m. from the J.J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Rd. Rt. 122, Cumberland, with a church service at 10 a.m. at Four Corners Community Chapel, 200 Angell Rd., Cumberland. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Calling hours Friday from 4 -8 p.m.

Adelard F. "Del" Fontaine
1940 - 2008
Adelard F. Fontaine, 67, of Cumberland, died on Saturday afternoon surrounded by his family and loved ones.

Born in Lincoln, Del is survived by his beloved mother, Loretta Fontaine of Cumberland, RI; his son Timothy Fontaine of Fuguay Varina, NC and daughter Kimberly Joubert of Lenexa, KS. A loving brother to Walter G. Fontaine, Jr of Narragansett (currently residing in China) and his five sisters, Rosemarie Depault of Lincoln, RI, Joan Steele of Cumberland, RI, Virginia Brandao of Woonsocket, RI, Susan DuBois of Cumberland, RI and Jacqueline Pignolet of Bellingham, Ma. He also leaves behind 4 granddaughters, 2 grandsons and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews who love and will miss him.

His funeral service will be held Thursday, February 21st at 11 a.m. in the J.J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road Rt. 122, Cumberland. Burial will be private.

Eleanor B. "Barbara" Truesdale
1927 - 2008

Eleanor B. " Barbara" Truesdale, 80, of Toboggan Rd., died Thursday in the Landmark Medical Center, Woonsocket. She was the wife of the late Lester S. Truesdale Sr.

Born in Pawtucket, she was the daughter of the late John B. and Eleanor (Gagnon) Audette. She was a life long Cumberland resident.
She leaves two sons, Lester S. Truesdale Jr. of Cumberland and David M. Truesdale of Las Vegas, NV. Two brothers, John and Harold Audette both of Cumberland. One sister, Joan Moskalenko of Lebanon, NH. One aunt, Mae Audette of Foster. She also leaves three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister-in-law of the late Frances Audette and Alex Moskalenko.

Her funeral will be held Tuesday at 8 a.m. from the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Rd. Rt. 122, Cumberland. Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. in St. Patrick Church, Broad St., Cumberland. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Cumberland.
