ROBERT A. NOTHEY
FLORENCE – Robert Allen Nothey, 77, died Friday morning, July 27, 2001, in a Florence hospital after an illness. Graveside funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Florence National Cemetery, directed by Belk Funeral Home.
Mr. Nothey, a retired machinist, was born in Mitchellville, Md., the son of the late James H. and Rosemary Bell Nothey. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II in the European Campaign. Mr. Nothey was married to the late Ruby Thurman Nothey.
Surviving are a daughter, Shirley Baetjer of Florence; a son, Curtis Nothey of Texas; five grandchildren, Teresa Diffendefor of Ohio, William Martin of Florida, Dana Martin of Maryland, and Denise Nutter and Dennis Nutter, both of Florence; 15 great-grandchildren; a brother, Alvin Nothey of Maryland; a sister, Betty Nothey of Maryland; and a sister-in-law, Darlene Sharpe of Darlington.
The family will receive friends at the home, 901 Inglewood Dr., Florence.

KATHERINE SPRAYBERRY
NEWNAN, GA. – Services for Katherine Sprayberry, 87, were held at p.m. Friday, July 27, 2001, at McKoon Funeral Home Chapel with John Evans and Rodney Sprayberry officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery directed by McKoon Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Andrews Chapel United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Sprayberry died Thursday, July 26, 2001. Born in Newnan, Ga., on Oct. 26, 1913, she was a retired textile worker.
Surviving are a daughter, Jura Mae Rainey of Newnan, Ga.; a son, Merrill Sprayberry of Hartsville; a brother, Tom Brown of Newnan, Ga.; three sisters, Christine Little of Chattanooga, Tenn., Betty Pierce of Snellville, Ga., and Peggy Betchel of Palatka, Fla.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

MAMIE ROGERS MACK
DARLINGTON – Services for Mrs. Mamie Rogers Mack were held at 3 p.m. Monday, July 30, 2001, in Macedonia Baptist Church. The Rev. Dr. D.L. Hughes, pastor, officiated. Burial followed in St. Marks Free Will Baptist Church in Lamar directed by Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home of Darlington.
Mrs. Mack died on Wednesday, July 25, in a Darlington nursing home after an illness. She was born in Darlington County (Lamar), a daughter of the late Kiss and Minnie Benjamin Rogers. She was the widow of David Mack Sr. She was educated in the Darlington County public schools and was a life member of Macedonia Baptist Church where she served on the Usher Board and past member of the choir. In the community, she was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post #210 and a past member of the Joint Stock Lodge.
Survivors include: a son, James Harry (Mable) Mack of the home; nine grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; seven step-great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Rogers and Mrs. Bernetha Holloway, both of Darlington, and Ms. June Dunham of New York; a brother, W.G. Rogers of New York; a sister-in-law, Ms. Vermell Mack of Conway; and nieces and nephews.

BOBBY MARSHALL
Services for Robert "Bobby" Theron Marshall Jr., 71, will be held at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 2, 2001, at Union United Methodist Church. The Rev. Paul Mitchell will officiate, with burial in the church cemetery directed by Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Union United Methodist Church Building Fund, Rt. 1 Box 235, McBee, S.C. 29101.
Mr. Marshall died Tuesday, July 31, 2001. Born in Darlington County, he was a son of the late Robert Theron and Maggie Kelly Marshall. He was a member of Union United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his sisters and brothers-in-law, Gwen and Robert B. Atkinson of McBee, Rachel Marshall of McBee, and Virginia and Joe Fournier of Columbia; and a loving-close friend, Joyce McKenzie of Hartsville. He was predeceased by his brother, Charles Needham Marshall; and sisters, Zella Blackwell, Corine Lewis and Rebecca Piper.

RUBY W. STANTON
Graveside services for Ruby Wallace Stanton, 82, who died July 29, 2001, will be held Saturday, Aug. 4, at 11 a.m. at Magnolia Cemetery directed by Norton Funeral Home. The Rev. Edward Locke will officiate. Visitation will be Friday from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Funeral Home.
Mrs. Stanton was born in Cheraw, a daughter of the late John and Nettie Hicks Wallace. She was retired from Sonoco Products Co. and was a member of West Hartsville Baptist Church.
Surviving are a number of cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis R. Stanton, and a sister, Nellie W. Cashwell.
Memorials may be made to the West Hartsville Baptist Church, 1003 West Carolina Ave., Hartsville, S.C. 29550.

TIMOTHY BEASLEY
Services for Timothy J. Beasley, 51, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 2, 2001, at North Hartsville Baptist Church. The Rev. Ladell Humphries and the Rev. Dr. Richard Bailey will officiate with burial in Magnolia Cemetery directed by Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Beasley died Monday, July 30, 2001. Born in Darlington County, he was a son of Carolyn Stephens Zeigler and the late Dather "Red" Laverne Beasley. He was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church, Hartsville Masonic Lodge #173 and the Shrine. He was owner and operator of Beasley Appliance and The Saloon.
Surviving are his wife, Cheryl Lewis Beasley of Hartsville; sons T.J. Beasley, Justin Beasley and Tyler Beasley, all of Hartsville; mother of Columbia; brother and sister-in-law, Steve and Sandy Beasley of Atlanta, Ga.; sisters and brothers-in-law, Connie and Wayne Johnson of Chapin, and Debbie and Ronnie Brown of Hartsville; and a grandson, Triston Beasley. He was predeceased by two brothers, Freddie Beasley and Tommie Beasley; and his grandparents, Creighton and Kate Beasley.

DOT BYRD
Services for Dorothy Outlaw Byrd, 72, were held at 3 p.m. Saturday, July 28, 2001, at Lakeview Baptist Church. The Rev. Charles Boswell officiated with burial in Westview Memorial Park Cemetery directed by Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Lakeview Baptist Church.
Mrs. Byrd died Thursday, July 26, 2001. Born in Kershaw County, she was a daughter of the late Hebron and Mary Inez Hawkins Outlaw. She was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church and a former employee of Hartsville Blouse Factory.
Surviving are her husband, William E. "Bill" Byrd of Hartsville; son and daughter-in-law, William E. "Billy" and Jeannie Byrd Jr. of Hartsville; daughter and son-in-law, Mary B. and Ken Braswell of Hartsville; sister, Ruby O. Barfield of Hartsville; grandchildren, Danielle Braswell, Kendell Braswell and Austin Byrd. She was predeceased by a daughter, Cindy Byrd, and a granddaughter, Kali Jordan Byrd.

JOSEPH MULDROW
DARLINGTON – Services for Mr. Joseph "Shack" Muldrow will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 2, 2001, in St. Matthews #2 Church. Bishop Michael Bull, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Faith Memorial Gardens directed by Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home. The family is receiving friends at the residence, 247 Ridge Road, Darlington.
Mr. Muldrow died on Thursday, July 26, in a Florence hospital after an illness. He was born in Darlington County, a son of the late Joe and Lillie Mack Muldrow.
He received his education in the Darlington and Florence county schools. At an early age, he joined Bethel A.M.E. Church; years later, he joined St. Matthews #2 Church where he was a faithful member. "Shack" was an employee of James River, a division of Dixie Cup, for a number of years.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Bessie Edwards Muldrow of the home; one son, Joseph (Margie) Muldrow Jr. of Darlington; three daughters, Mrs. Sharon (Earl) McCullough and Miss Quatesha Muldrow, both of Darlington, and Ms. DeHaven Lee of High Point, N.C.; a daughter he reared as his own, Ms. Angelina Oliver of Darlington; eight grandchildren; four brothers, William (Gloria) Mack and Robert (Gloria) Muldrow, both of New York City, and Benjamin (Kathy) Muldrow and Edward (Delores) Muldrow, both of Darlington; two sisters, Mrs. Mae Francis (Steve) Sabb of New York City and Ms. Juanita Muldrow of Florence; seven sisters-in-law; two brothers-in-law; six aunts; one uncle; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Muldrow.

ALPHONSO WILLIAMS
Mr. Alphonso Williams of Hartsville, died Tuesday, July 31, 2001, in a Myrtle Beach hospital after an illness. The family will receive friends at the residence. Arrangements will be announced by Hines Funeral Home of Hartsville.

ALPHONSO WILLIAMS
Services for Alphonso "Al" Williams were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, 2001, in Gilbert Hines Memorial Chapel with the Rev. J. D. Blue officiating. Burial was in Greenlawn Cemetery with professional services directed by Hines Funeral Home. Mr. Williams died Tuesday, July 31, after a sudden illness. He was born in Hartsville and was one of five children to the late Bobyette Williams Cabbagestalk. He was educated in the public schools of Darlington County, graduating from Butler High School with the class of 1975. After graduation, he served in the U.S. Army for a two-year tour of duty and was honorably discharged. He was married to Carolyn Williams, and this union was blessed with three children. Mr. Williams was raised in a Christian home and worshipped along with his family at the Second Baptist Church of Hartsville.
Survivors other than wife of the home, include four daughters, Janet Williams, Amy Williams and Keisha Joe, all of Hartsville; one sister, Jeanette Spann of Hartsville; three brothers, Robert (Kaye) Cabbagestalk of Copperas Cove, Texas; David Williams of Atlanta, Ga., and Michael (Diane) Williams of Emerado, N.D.; and a host of close relatives and very dear friends.

LISHA SMITH
Mrs. Lisha Smith of Florence, died Sunday, July 29, 2001, in a local nursing home after an extended illness. The family will receive friends at the home of her son, Tyneal Smith of Darlington. Arrangements will be announced by Hines Funeral Home of Hartsville.

LISHA MAE SMITH
Services for Lisha Mae Smith were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 5, 2001, in Gilbert Hines Memorial Chapel. Burial was in New Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery directed by Hines Funeral Home.
Mrs. Smith died Sunday, July 29, in a Florence nursing center after an illness. She was born in Darlington County, a daughter of the late Jesse Graham and Blanche Zimmerman Graham Strand. At an early age she joined New Hopewell Baptist Church. She received her education in the Darlington County, public schools and continued her education by graduating from the BBC Bible College of Queens, N.Y. She spent most of her adult life in New York. She returned to South Carolina during the 1980s, and at that time she restored her membership with New Hopewell Baptist Church. She was married to Rubin Smith and they adopted four children, three of whom survive her.
Survivors are her husband, Rubin Smith of New York; a daughter, Tequila Smith of Daytona Beach, Fla.; two sons, Jermaine (Denise) Smith of Florence and Tyneal (Crystal) Smith of Darlington; five sisters, Robertsenia Strand of Brooklyn, N.Y., Martha Jeanette, Anne and Shirley Graham, all of Washington, D.C; two aunts, Annie Mae (Ernest) Antrum and Deliah Jackson of Society Hill; three uncles, Gibson Jr. (Ida) Zimmerman, Edward (Ernestine) Zimmerman of Society Hill and David Zimmerman of Compton, Calif.; and four grandchildren.
