Johnnie Mae Edwards
Retired textile supervisor
Johnnie Mae Hughes Edwards, 69, of 394 Beaver Ridge Road, formerly of 20 Hudson Road, Travelers Rest, died Wednesday, June 9, 2004, in Upstate Carolina Medical Center.
A native of Louisiana, she was the widow of Virgis Samuel Edwards and daughter of the late Sylvester Hughes and the late Annie Varner Hughes. She was a retired textile supervisor and of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are two daughters, Mary Ann Smalley of Gaffney and Louise Sellars of Bolton, Miss.; two sons, Johnny Sellars of Greenville and David Sellars of Baton Rouge, La.; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Sonny Hughes and Buddy Hughes, both of Louisiana; and three sisters, Jewel Brock, Lucille Brock, both of Mississippi, and Bobbie Stanley of Louisiana.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Edwards was preceded in death by her companion, Roscoe Wyatt.
Private services will be held Saturday at 4 p.m. at Shuford-Hatcher Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Scott Wachter.
The family is at the residence.

Helen J. Cook
Cherokee County native
Helen Jeanette Cook, 81, of 1670 N. Longfellow St., Arlington, Va., died May 11, 2004, in Arlington Medical Center.
A native of Cherokee County, she was the daughter of the late Sanford Cook and the late Mamie Quinn Cook. She was retired from the National Science Academy in Washington, D.C.
Surviving is a niece, Denise Boatwright.
Graveside services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Oakland cemetery in Gaffney, conducted by the Rev. Norman Philbeck.

Robert L. Davidson
Robert Lee Davidson died Sunday, June 6, 2004, at his home in Norfolk, Va. He was the son of the late Ruth Ellen Davidson.
Services will be held Saturday at Hollomon and Brown Funeral Home in Virginia Beach, Va. The family will receive friends at the funeral home tonight from 7-9.

Ruth D. Allison
Retired from Musgrove Mill
Ruth Cooper Dillinger Allison, 75, of 100 Cypress Drive, died Monday, March 29, 2004, in Upstate Carolina Medical Center.
A native of Gaffney, she was the widow of Floyd Allison Jr. and was first married to the late John R. Dillinger. She was the daughter of the late Furman George Cooper Sr. and the late Mattie Nichols Cooper.
Mrs. Allison was once employed by Limestone Mill. She retired from Musgrove Mill and was a member of New Hope Baptist Church and the Ladies' Sunday School Class.
Surviving are a brother, Furman G. Cooper Jr. and his wife, Mamie A. Cooper, of Gaffney; three grandchildren, Johnny Dillinger, Michael Dillinger and David Dillinger; two half-sisters, Charlotte Tonkas of Nashville, Tenn., and Polly Murray of Augusta, Ga.; two sisters-in-law, Shirley Walker and Joyce Allison; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husbands and parents, Mrs. Allison was preceded in death by a son, Johnny Wilson Dillinger.
Services will be held today at 3 p.m. at New Hope Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Tim Osment and Dr. Edward McAbee. Burial will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens. Body will be placed in the church at 2:30 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Allen, Eugene Smith, Darrin Lane and Brent Wilkins.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of New Hope Baptist Church's Ladies' Sunday School Class.
The family is at the home of her brother, Furman Cooper, 303 W. Ninth St.
Memorials may be made to Vistacare Hospice, 22 Tindal Ave., Greenville, S.C. 29605.

Lois R. Bishop
Retired from Kmart
Lois Redden Bishop, 89, of Peachtree Centre, formerly of Alice Street, Greenville, died Tuesday, March 30, 2004, in Spartanburg Hospital for Restorative Care.
Widow of Seebern D. Bishop who died in 1980, she was born in Pittsburgh, Pa., a daughter of the late Leslie and Elizabeth Hancock Redden.
Mrs. Bishop grew up in Pocomoke City, Md., and was an employee of Kmart for 11 years prior to her retirement. She was a member of Woodside Baptist Church, a member of Sam Poe Eastern Star Chapter No. 123 and a former member of the Brandon Chapter of Eastern Star.
Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Cathy B. and Terry Parker of Gaffney; and sisters, Audrey Wilson of Bridgeville, Pa., Norman Gover of Laurel, Del., and Jayne Covington of Mechanicsville, Va.
She was predeceased by a son, Leslie Frank Bishop.
Services will be held Thursday at 3 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 1:30-2:45 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will be in Graceland cemetery, West
Family members are at the home of her daughter and son-in-law at 340 Linder Road, Gaffney.

Columbus Biggerstaff
Retired from Limestone Mfg.
Columbus Lester Biggerstaff, 90, of 705 Eighth St., died Tuesday, March 30, 2004, in Upstate Carolina Medical Center.
A native of Lincolnton, N.C., he was the husband of Sudie Mae Patrick Biggerstaff and son of the late Samuel Biggerstaff and the late Mary Jane Warlick Biggerstaff. He was retired from Limestone Manufacturing Company and was a member of Temple Baptist Church, where he was a member of the Senior Men's Sunday School Class.
Also surviving are two daughters, Rhonda Dillingham of Gaffney and Janice Stewart of Sumter; and four grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Biggerstaff was preceded in death by his first wife, Carrie Spencer Biggerstaff.
The family is at the home.

Keith B. Parker
Retired from Hamrick Mills
Keith Brian Parker, 44, of 322 Tenth St., died Sunday, March 28, 2004, in Upstate Carolina Medical Center.
A native of Gaffney, he was the son of Ruth B. Smith Parker of Gaffney and the late Rev. Jacob G. Parker. He was retired from Hamrick Mills and was a member of Johnson Memorial Tabernacle of Love.
Also surviving are two sons, Brian K. Parker and Chris Lee Parker, both of Gaffney; a brother, Kenny Parker of Gaffney; two sisters, Sandra Atkins and Kathy Lanier, both of Gaffney; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Services will be held today at 11 a.m. at Shuford-Hatcher Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by the Revs. Wayne Arro-wood and Ron Jackson and Mr. Sidney Weaver. Burial will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Bryan Blanton, Jeff Hunter, Ricky Hill, Charles Knight, Ronnie Cole, Richard Atkins, John Fleming and Charles Peterson.
The family is at the home.

Harold W. Gallman
Retired from Gaffney Mfg.
Harold Wilson Gallman, 89, formerly of 200 Laurel St., died Tuesday, March 30, 2004, in Brookview HealthCare Center.
A native of Gaffney, he was the widower of Emma Lou Anthony Gallman and son of the late Joseph Gallman and the late Defa Horne Gallman. He was retired from Gaffney Manufacturing Company and was a member of First Baptist Church, where he was a former Sunday School teacher, deacon and choir member.
As a young man, Mr. Gallman served with the Civilian Conservation Corps.
Surviving are a son, Wayne Gallman of Gaffney.
In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Gallman was preceded in death by four brothers, Clarence Gallman, Walter Gallman, Vannie Gallman and Samuel Gallman; and four sisters, Edith Morris, Lillian Sanders, Evelyn Coyle and Elizabeth Gallman.
The family is at the residence, 200 Laurel St.

Carl L. Emory
Retired from Alcoa and Life of Georgia
CHESNEE – Carl Lee Emory, 61, of 1298 Emory Road, died Sunday, Feb. 1, 2004, in Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
A native of Spartanburg County, Mr. Emory was the husband of Jerleen Couch Emory and son of the late Ralph Lee and Vernie Culbreth Emory. He was retired from Alcoa and also a retired 20-year employee of Life of Georgia. He was a member of Green Point Baptist Church, having served as a deacon, Sunday School director and teacher and member of the building committee, historic committee, etc.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Tammy Emory of Spartanburg; a son, Lee Emory of Chesnee; and two sisters, Bessie Ray of Boiling Springs and Shirley Alverson of Campobello.
Services will be held today at 2 p.m. at Green Point Baptist Church, conducted by the Revs. David Lancaster and Ken Kirkley. Burial will be in Boiling Springs Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be John W. Kimbrell, John Gossett, Ricky Flynn, Marvin Gardner, Chris Weathers and Spurgeon Williams.
Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons and the Adult No. 2 Sunday School of Green Point Baptist Church.
Memorials may be made to Green Point Baptist Church Building Fund, 11391 Rainbow Lake Road, Inman, S.C. 29349.

Estelle L. Edwards
Gaffney native
Estelle Littlejohn Edwards, 77, of 3514 Silver Park Dr., Apt. 3, Suitland, Md., died Saturday, Jan. 31, 2004, at 7:30 p.m. at her residence.
A native of Gaffney, she was the widow of Deacon M.C. Edwards and daughter of the late Rev. T.R. Littlejohn and the late Lillian Littlejohn. After graduating from Granard High School in 1945 she moved to New York City to make her home.
Mrs. Edwards was a member and mother of Green Pastures Baptist Church in New York City and served as a deaconess and was past president of the Senior Choir. She was a graduate of the Bronx Pentecostal Bible College.
Surviving are a daughter, Lorrette E. Deal of Suitland, Md.; a son, Manuel Carl Edwards of Gaffney; a stepdaughter, Sandra L. Robinson of Jacksonville, Fla.; three sisters, Doris Brown, Augustine Littlejohn and Sandria Hall of Gaffney; three brothers, William “Nank” Littlejohn and Joe L. Littlejohn, both of Gaffney, and Marvin Littlejohn of Charlotte; five grandchildren, one of them, Daimen Carter, of Suitland, Md., she reared as a son.
Services will be held Thursday at 7 p.m. at Green Pastures Baptist Church in Bronx, N.Y.
