MYRTLE McKENZIE
Services for Myrtle Grace McKenzie age 90, will be today, Friday, May 5, 2006, at Ashland United Methodist Church. The Rev. Joey McDonald, the Rev. Charles McLendon & Jesse Tanner will officiate. Burial will be in the Hebron Methodist Church cemetery. directed by Norton Funeral Home.
Mrs. McKenzie, widow of Charlie M. McKenzie, died May 3. She was born in Bethune, a daughter of the late George W. and Sallie Ellen King. She was a member of Ashland United Methodist Church, Sunday school teacher and president of United Methodist Women. She attended Spartanburg Methodist College, was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and was well known for her chocolate pies.
Surviving are her daughter, Carolyn (Bud) McLendon, Hartsville; grandchildren, Karen (Gary) Lukridge, Boiling Springs, N.C., Lisa McLendon, Hartsville; great-grandchildren, Bethany McLendon, Sara Lukridge, Boiling Springs, N.C.; several nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to the Ashland United Methodist Church, c/o Larry McKenzie, PO Box 9, Lydia, SC 29079.

LARRY O. JAMES
Funeral services for Larry Odell James, 45, will be held at 3 p.m. today, May 5, 2006, at the Palmetto Street Church of God. Burial will follow at Mount Hope cemetery, directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Hebron Colony, Boone, N.C.
Mr. James died suddenly Monday, May 1, at his residence. He was born in Florence, a son of the late Ella Mae Shumake James and Henry Edward James Sr. He was a former Darlington County deputy sheriff, member of the Hampton Masonic Lodge, Palmetto Street Church of God and attended Calvary Tabernacle in Darlington.
Surviving are his companion of 11 years, Sandra McInville Jones of the home; daughter, Brittney Renee James of Lamar; sisters, Jean Koschel, Sheila Yarborough, Annie Kate Prosser and Tammy (Tony) Garris, all of Florence; brothers, Henry Edward (Patsy) James Jr. and Terry Lee James, both of Florence, Ronald Ray James of Timmonsville, Dale (Patti) James of Quinby and Anthony Wade James of Melbourne, Fla.

MARVIN WRIGHT
Funeral services for Marvin Wright, 62, were held at 3 p.m. Thursday, May 4, 2006, at Green Hill Baptist Church with burial following services in the church cemetery, directed by Young & Young Funeral Home.
Mr. Wright died Sunday, April 30, at his residence after an illness. He was born in Bethune and was the loving son of the late Hazel and Lucille Lee Wright Jr. He received his education in the public schools in the area.
Surviving are one son, Jamie (Audrey) Bonaparte of Middletown, Conn.; one sister, JoAnne Johnson of Columbia; one aunt, Alta Mae Lee of Hartsville; one uncle, James Lee of Baltimore, Md.; three special cousins, Nannie Ruth Lee and Naomi (Willie) Woodham, both of Hartsville, and Willie (Cassandra) James Lee of Raleigh, N.C.; a special friend, Lisa Gandy of Hartsville; five grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews and other close relatives and friends.

CYNTHIA POSTON
BISHOPVILLE - Memorial services for Cynthia Lanning Poston, 78, will be held Saturday, May 6, 2006, at 2 p.m. at Kornegay Funeral Home Lugoff - Elgin Chapel. The Rev. Dale Warren will officiate. The family will receive friends tonight, May 5, from 6 to 7:30 at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Kershaw County, 2001 W. DeKalb, Street, Camden, SC 29020. Mrs. Poston, widow of Clifford 'Ace' Poston, died Wednesday, May 3. Born in Waynesville, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Tom and Nellie Lanning. Mrs. Poston attended First Baptist Church in Bishopville.
Surviving are a daughter, Kathy P. Robertson and her husband, Chuck, of Elgin; grandchildren, Bianca Poston of Columbia, Clint Poston of Columbia and Cody Poston of Hartsville; sister, Ruby Thompson of Canton, N.C.; extended family of many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Michael A. Poston, four sisters and two brothers.

ROBERT AARON
LAMAR - Funeral services for Robert Aaron were held on Saturday, April 29, 2006, at 1 p.m. at the Church of God in Lamar. The burial followed in the Darlington Memory Gardens, directed by Hines Funeral Home Inc. The Rev. Levern Kirkland, the pastor of the Church of God, officiated the service.

Mr. Aaron was born Feb. 18, 1926, in Darlington County, a son of the late John Aaron and Roxie Howard Aaron. He was educated in the public schools of the county. Early in life he worked as a farmer in the county of his birth and was a member of the Church of God in Lamar. Mr. Aaron was joined in holy matrimony to the former Lula Woods, and from this union five children were born.

In the early 1960s, he and his family relocated to New York. His work ethic allowed him to succeed at many occupations, including shipping clerk, warehouseman and equipment operator. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters where he rendered dedicated service and remained a member in good standing until his retirement in 1985. He and his family returned to South Carolina in 1992 and enjoyed his life and retirement.

His everlasting love and concern for his family will never be forgotten. He extended his home with an open heart to others in need and those who know and love him will agree that he was a father and a friend to all. Two of his sisters, Nonie Mae Dove and Albertha Robinson and two of his brothers, Alonzo Aaron and Cornell Aaron preceded him in death. One of his sons, Robert L. Aaron and an infant daughter also predeceased him.

Surviving to cherish the loving memory and continue the legacy of Robert Aaron include his wife, Lula Mae Aaron; two sons, Herbert L. (Grace K.) Aaron and Cornelius (Willetta) Aaron; two daughters, Genesis (Raymond) Burbridge and Brenda J. (Leroy) Rouse; two brothers, Charles Lee Aaron and Joseph Aaron; three sisters, Viola Lighty, Josephine Jackson and Johnnie Mae Morales; his daughter-in-law, Ruth Aaron, his brother-in-law, Burnett Woods; a special aunt, Helen Aaron; 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and many other relatives and very dear friends.

GRACE RADSPINNER
DARLINGTON - Graveside funeral services for Grace Dutton Radspinner, 93, were held 3 p.m. Tuesday, May 2, 2006, at Grove Hill cemetery, directed by Belk Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to the charity of one's choice.

Mrs. Radspinner died Saturday evening, April 29. She was born in Darlington County, a daughter of the late Eugene Tillman Dutton and Hannah Revell Dutton. She was married to the late Fred Radspinner. She was a housewife and enjoyed playing her violin. Mrs. Dutton was a member of Central Baptist Church.

Surviving are two sisters, Evelyn Dutton of Darlington and Mabel D. Ivey of Cheraw; also, one niece and one nephew.

ROBERT 'R.W.' BELL
Funeral services for Robert 'R.W' W. Bell, 77, were held 11 am Saturday, April 29, 2006, in the Lamar Chapel of Belk Funeral Home with interment following in Mt. Pleasant cemetery.

Mr. Bell died Thursday, April 27, in a local hospital. He was born in Darlington County, son of the late Johnny and Sizzie Amerson Bell. R.W. was a painter and loved to go fishing in his spare time.

Surviving are his wife, Pearline Oxendine Bell of Hartsville; four sons, Jerry Bell and Michael Bell, both of Hartsville, Roger (Crystal) Bell, Jimmy (Terri) Bell, all of Lamar; four grandchildren; and a brother, Pete (Betty) Bell of Lamar.

MARVIN WRIGHT
Marvin Wright, 62, died Sunday, April 30, at his residence after an illness. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Young & Young Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at 1309 Folly Road, Hartsville.

DEBORAH C. BENNETT
Funeral services for Deborah Capers Bennett were held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, May 2, 2006, at Jerusalem Baptist Church. Burial followed services in Greenlawn cemetery, directed by Young & Young Funeral Home of Hartsville.

Mrs. Bennett died April 27, at Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center. She was born in Darlington County, a daughter of Hayes and Viola Benjamin Capers. She was married to Evans Bennett, who preceded her in death.

Surviving to cherish her memory other than her parents of Hartsville, are her son, Jason L. Capers of Miami, Fla.; a step-son, Marquis Pendergrass of Hartsville; a godson, Keith Holmes of Jacksonville, Fla.; four sisters, Neomia McDuffie of Paterson, N.J., Jannie (Luke) Arthur, Dollie (Larry) Cook, Lillie Mae Capers; two brothers, Leroy (Miriam) Capers of Hartsville and Eugene Capers of Washington, D.C.; one brother-in-law, Leroy Bennett of Bishopville; nieces, nephews and other close relatives and friends.

ELLA MAE FLOYD
Graveside services for Ella Mae Hill Floyd, 83, were held at 4 p.m. Sunday, April 30, 2006, at Magnolia cemetery. The Rev. Ted Vick officiated, directed by Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home is in charge.

Mrs. Floyd, widow of Ernest Matt Floyd, died Saturday, April 29. Born in Chesterfield County, she was a daughter of the late Luke T. and Jessie Evitt Hill. She was a member of Fourth Street Baptist Church.

Surviving are her daughters and sons-in-law, Ernestine F. and Frank Schray of Cheraw, Judi F. and Allen Byrd of Society Hill; sisters, Betty Jo Nichols and Margaret Armstrong, both of Hartsville, Vadaree Moates of Conyers, Ga.; grandchildren, Frank Schray Jr. of Philadelphia, Pa., Allen Byrd Jr. of Society Hill; and Crystal Byrd of New York City, N.Y.

KEYONC BENJAMIN
DARLINGTON - Funeral services for Keyonc Benjamin, 9, will be held at 4 p.m. today, May 3, 2006, at New Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will follow services in the church cemetery, directed by Young & Young Funeral Home.

Keyonc died Thursday, April 27, at Duke University Hospital after an illness. He was born on March 14, 2006, in Vicenza, Italy, and was the loving son of Kendrick and Shaleetha Benjamin. He received his education in the Cumberland County public school system.

Those left to cherish the memories of Keyonc are his parents, Kendrick (Shaleetha) Benjamin of Fort Bragg, N.C.; three sisters, Shaquevia Davis, Keyoni Benjamin and Kiymoni Benjamin, all of Fayetteville, N.C.; one brother, Kyrese Benjamin of Fayetteville, N.C.; maternal grandparents, Charles (Linda) Benson of Waco, Texas; maternal great-grandparents, Mary Walker and Fannie Benson, both of Waco, Texas; paternal grandfather, Charlie Robinson of Society Hill; paternal great-grandmother, Reatha Benjamin of Darlington; one aunt, Victoria Benson of Waco, Texas; four uncles, Derrick Benjamin of Darlington, Charles Benson, Steven Watson, Derrick Smith and Eric Smith, all of Waco, Texas; six great-aunts, Pearlie (Mike) Floyd of Darlington, Tina Henderson, Laura Majors, Stephanie Majors, Mary Majors and Sonji Majors, all of Waco, Texas; one great uncle, Alfonza (Minetta) Benjamin; four special friends, Tiffany Williams of Germany, Lashonda Maxie of Louisiana, Tina Henderson and Mina Henderson, both of Fayetteville, N.C.; a host of cousins and other close relatives and friends.

HAYWARD TRIMNAL
BETHUNE - Services for Hayward Colie Trimnal, 'Chester, ' 65 will be held at 4 p.m., Thursday, May 4, 2006, at Bethune Baptist Church. The Rev. Jimmy Holley will officiate with burial by the South Carolina State Trooper Honor Guard at Brannon cemetery, directed by Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home. The family will receive friends and family tonight, May 3, from 5 to 7 at the funeral home.

Mr. Trimnal passed away Tuesday, May 2, at his home with his family, friends and fellow officers at his bedside. Born in Bethune, he was the son of the late Colie Boykin Trimnal and Sallie Thompson Trimnal.

Surviving are his wife, Frances Winburn Trimnal; son, Colie H. Trimnal; daughter and son-in-law, Susan T. and Jeffrey A. Holley; granddaughter, Anna Susanne Holley, all of Bethune; brother, Leven Trimnal of Camden. He is predeceased by a sister, Ethel H. Jones.

He was a dedicated police officer for 35 years. He served as a police officer and police chief at Bethune Police Department from 1971 to 1988. He was a lieutenant at the Chesterfield County Sheriff's Department where he served from 1988 to his recent retirement. Memorials may be made in his honor to the Chesterfield County Sheriff's Department Memorial Fund. .

RHODA MAE WATFORD
LAMAR - Funeral services for Rhoda Mae Hancock Watford, 94, were held 3 p.m. Saturday, April 29, 2006, in Lamar United Methodist Church. Burial followed in Lamar Memorial cemetery, officiated by the Rev. Mel Flail and directed by Belk Funeral Home, Lamar Chapel.

Mrs. Watford died Thursday, April 27, in a local hospital. She was born in Lee County, daughter of the late Robert D. and Carrie Mathis Hancock. She was a loving housewife, and member of Lamar United Methodist Church and the Sue Stewart Circle.

Surviving are a daughter, Elfreeda W. Barnes of Bishopville, three sons and daughters-in-law, Benjamin L. and Rachel Watford, Robert Manly and Pat Watford, Donald and Betty Watford, all of Lamar; eight grandchildren, Lynne B. Ward of Elliott, Timothy J. Barnes of Sumter, Sheila W. Petty, Kyle E. Watford, both of Columbia, Kevin B. Watford of Sumter, Donald Watford Jr., of Myrtle Beach, Robert M. Watford Jr. of Fork, Wayne Skidmore of Lamar; 18 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Nick Hancock and Tommy Hancock of Sumter; also a special friend, Lettie Boston, and caregivers Shirley Gilmore and Lonnie Taylor.

Mrs. Watford was preceded in death by four sisters, Hallie Bradham, Marie H. Romine, Grace Hancock, Becky Ann Ross, and four brothers, Murdic, Marvin, Fred and Robert Hancock.

Memorials may be made to Lamar United Methodist Church, PO Box 555, Lamar, SC 29069.

ZULA WHITE
Graveside services for Zula Hilton Driggers White, 94, were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 30, 2006, at Bethel Baptist Church cemetery, Olanta. The Rev. Ben Maynard officiated and Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home is in charge. Memorials may be made to Bethea Baptist Retirement Community, 157 Home Ave., Darlington, SC 29532.

Mrs. White died Thursday, April 27. A native of Camden, she was the widow of B. Carl Driggers of Hartsville. After his death she married the late James E. White of Fort Mill.

Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Carlisle and Jeanette Driggers of Lexington; daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Charles 'Chick' Williams of Rock Hill; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her son, T. David Driggers, in October 2004.

JANIE D. RHODES
Funeral services for Janie Della Rhodes were held on Tuesday, April 25, 2006, at 4 p.m. at the Gilbert Hines Memorial Chapel. The burial followed in the Greenlawn cemetery, directed by Hines Funeral Home Inc. Minister Margie McDonald officiated the service.

Mrs. Rhodes was born on May 27, 1927, in Darlington County, a daughter of the late Almetta Revel Jackson and Willie Jackson. She received her formal education in the public schools of Darlington County. She departed this life on April 20 after a long illness.

'Della, ' as she was affectionately known, was loved by all who knew her. She was a loving and caring individual who cared dearly for her family and friends alike. She also possessed a remarkable sense of humor.

She was preceded in death by her siblings, Columbus McNeil, Leroy Jackson and Annie Mae Campbell. Four of her children also predeceased her, Talbert, Donnie Ray, Ramsey and Dennis Jackson.

Surviving to cherish the loving memory of Janie Della Rhodes are her children, Almetta Jackson and Kaylor (Jimmy) Bowles, both of Brooklyn, N.Y., Roosevelt (Cynthia) Robinson Jr. of Rochester, N.Y., Dale (James) Brooks, Patsy (the late Lee) Smith, Wanda (Elijah) Hicks, Neecy Rhodes, Debra Jackson, Sylvester Jackson, Tammie (Robert) Nettles and Terry Lee Rhodes, all of Hartsville; one sister, Margaret (the late Henry) Benjamin of Darlington; one brother, Willie (Eunice) Jackson of Hartsville; special grandchildren, Troy Jackson, Evelyn Jackson and Tasha (Shelton) Sutton, all of Hartsville; 34 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, Lakiah Jackson; her godson, Ralph Bishop; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and very dear friends.

VIVIAN K. KELLEY
Graveside services for Vivian King Kelley, 85, were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 27, 2006, at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church cemetery. The Rev. Richard Hopper officiated, directed by Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, Box 56, Lydia, SC 29079.

Mrs. Kelley died Tuesday, April 25. Born in Hartsville, she was a daughter of the late Henry Dantzler and Edell McNeese King. She was a member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church and was a graduate of Columbia College.

Surviving are her husband, James Kelley of Hartsville; daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and Howard Harrison of Charleston; grandchildren, Anna Vivian Harrison and Andrew Franklin Harrison. She was preceded in death by her brother, Jack King; sisters, Doris King and Hazel Lewis.
