Funeral services for Mrs. Martha Myers, 78, of N. Charleston, will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2002, in Greater Bethel AME Church, 1516 Forter Creek Road, Goose Creek, SC, at 2:00 PM. Burial will be in the church cemetery, with Rev. Darryl L. Lee Pastor/Eulogist. Remains to the church one hour prior to services. Family and friends may call at the Funeral Parlor on this Friday after 3 PM for viewing. Visitation with the family at the church fro 7 - 8 PM.
She will be sadly missed by her children: Arnold and Andrew Myers, Iris Marie Waring of Goose Creek, Jessie Mae Waring of Moncks Corner, Margaret Robinson and Corileen Haynes of N. Charleston; brothers, William McKelvey of Summerville, and Robert McKelvey of Goose Creek; grands; nieces; nephews; cousins.

Melvin Brown, Pastor. Interment Hillcrest cemetery, Summerville. His children, Mr. Mark Simmons, Mr. Michael Simmons, and Ms. Sharon Rela Ford; his parents, Rev. Smalls (Gwen), and Mr. Mark Smalls (Scher), three daughters, Ms. Denise Smalls, Ms. Mable Smalls and Mrs. Jacqueline S. Wilson (Darryl), four sisters, Mrs. Ruth Scott, Mrs. Elizabeth Ross, Mrs. Florina Dais and Mrs. Wilhelmina Session (Freddie), three brothers, Mr. James Green, Mr. Joseph Green (Mattie) and Mr. Robert Green (Bertha) mother-in-law, Mrs. Inez Whaley Smalls, 17 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews. Viewing for Mrs. Smalls will be at the W. M. Grace Elizabeth Thompson, 71, of Summerville, S.C., wife of Frank H. Thompson, died Wednesday, August 14, 2002, at a Charleston hospital.
Funeral services will be held at a later date in Meadville, Pa. Burial will be in the Peters cemetery, Venango County, Pa. RUNYON, Martha T.
Martha Theleman Runyon, 86, retired principal of Sacred Heart Catholic School and widow of William L. Runyon, Sr., died Wednesday, August 14, 2002, in Charleston. Mrs. Runyon was born Sunday, June 4, 1916, in New Orleans, La., a daughter of August and Martha McCarthy Theleman. She taught second grade at Sacred Heart Catholic School for many years until her promotion to Principal. Mrs. Runyon was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Surviving are two sons, William L. Runyon, Jr., and Ronald D. Runyon both of Charleston; five grandchildren, William L. Runyon, III, Charles C. Runyon, Sarah T. Runyon, Philip D. Runyon and Paul F. Runyon; three great-grandchildren, William L. Runyon, IV, Margaret Catherine Runyon and Mary McKenzie Runyon. The relatives and friends of Martha T. Runyon are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, August 17, 2002, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. The Rite of Committal will be in Live Oak Memorial Gardens. TAWES, Creston
Creston Swan Tawes, 98, died on Tuesday, August 13, 2002, at the residence of his son on Sullivan's Island. Mr. Tawes was born January 21, 1904, in Cresfield, MD, the son of George and Marion Swan Tawes. He was the owner of Wiggins and Tawes Esso Service Station for 40 years; and a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. He was predeceased by his wife of 62 years, Mary Wiggins Tawes and his son, Rev. Creston Tawes. Mr. Tawes is survived by one son, Warren Tawes and wife Sandra of Sullivan's Island, S.C.; three daughters, Joann Major and husband Dr. Jack, of Glendale, Ariz., Kay Cox and husband Harold of Huntsville, Ala., and Mary Ann Finch of Madison, Ohio; and one sister, Marion Nelson of Cresfield, MD. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren, Warren Tawes, Michael Tawes, Mark Tawes, Kevin Tawes, Dr. Donna Miller, John Major, Jr., Mary Correa, Katherine Major, Allen Major, Linda Adams, Dr. Hal Cox, Susan Cox, Cindy Finch, Stephanie Snopel, Robert Finch and Jeffery Finch, 15 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 16, at 11 a.m., at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Interment will follow in St. Lawrence cemetery. Ms. Zeigler was born in Bamberg, S.C., a daughter of the late Frank M. Zeigler, Sr. and Loretta P. Zeigler Meyer. She worked for Piggly Wiggly (Sea Island Shopping Center) as a Deli Clerk. She was Retired Underwriter Secretary for Atlantic Coast Life Insurance Co.
Surviving are her daughter, Darlene Trucksis and her husband John, of Isle of Palms, S.C.; two grandsons, Jonathon Trucksis and his wife Kim, of Rock Hill, S.C., and Joseph Trucksis and his wife Jen, of Daniel Islands, S.C.; one granddaughter, Alyson Trucksis of Isle of Palms, S.C.; one great-granddaughter, Meghan Trucksis of Rock Hill, S.C.; two brothers, Frank Zeigler and his wife Hui Ying, of Las Vegas, Nev., and James Zeigler and his wife Sandra, of North Charleston, S.C.; one sister, Grace Lowry of Owasso, Okla. She was preceded in death by one sister, Martha Zeigler Lee.
