FUNK, JR., Clarence
Clarence Ernest Funk, Jr., 89, of Roosevelt Dr., St. Stephen, S.C. a retired engineer for the SC Department of Highways and Public Transportation, died Monday in a North Charleston hospital.
The funeral will be at 2:00 PM Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2002, at the Graveside in Sunset Memorial cemetery. Interment will follow. Friends may call at the ST. STEPHEN CHAPEL OF DIAL-MURRAY FUNERAL HOME.
Mr. Funk was born July 12, 1912, in Kingstree, SC, a son of Charles Ernest Funk, Sr., and Annie Miller Funk. He was an Army veteran of W.W.II. He was a member of the VFW. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, St. Stephen. He was a graduate of St. Stephen High School and attended the University of South Carolina.
Surviving are, his wife, Martha Tolbert Funk; a sister, Louise Funk Strickland of Macon, GA; a brother, Walker Miller Funk, Sr., of St. Stephen; and several nieces and nephews.

CARROLL, Estelle
The relatives and friends of Mrs. Estelle Murray Carroll, widow of William J. Carroll, Sr. are invited to attend her funeral services in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., GREENRIDGE ROAD CHAPEL this (Wednesday) morning, February 6, 2002, at 11:00 o'clock. Interment, Carolina Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at STUHR'S Greenridge Road Chapel.

HERBERT, Eloise
The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Walter W. Herbert are invited to attend the funeral services of the latter, Thursday, at 11 o'clock, in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., DOWNTOWN CHAPEL. Interment, Private. The family will receive friends at the Herbert Tennis Center, 3349 Sea Aire Drive, James Island, S.C. at 1 o'clock following the service.

MCCABE, SR., John

BURNSED, LeVeta
Entered into eternal rest on the afternoon of February 6, 2002, LeVeta Dukes Burnsed, widow of Lester Farley Burnsed. Residence, James Island, SC. The relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral services, Saturday, at 10 o'clock in New Beginnings Community Church, Fort Johnson Road. Interment, Carolina Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., DOWNTOWN CHAPEL, Friday between 6 and 8 o'clock.
Mrs. Burnsed was born September 16, 1919, in Savannah, Ga., the daughter of Thomas David Dukes and Beatrice Murdaugh Dukes. She was a member of New Beginnings Community Church.
She is survived by two sons, William F. Burnsed of Summerville, S.C., and Robert L. Burnsed of Charleston, S.C.; one sister, Lurline D. Metts of James Island, S.C.; two brothers, Thomas M. Dukes of James Island, S.C., and Joseph P. Dukes of Johnsonville, S.C.; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by her son, David L. Burnsed of James Island, S.C.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to New Beginnings Community Church, 849 Fort Johnson Road, James Island, S.C. 29412.

SEIGLER, James
The relatives and friends of James Arthur Seigler are invited to attend his memorial service in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., GREENRIDGE ROAD CHAPEL, Saturday afternoon, February 9, 2002 at 1:00 o'clock. Memorials are suggested to the JROTC Drill Team, Ft. Dorchester High School, 8500 Patriot Blvd., North Charleston, SC 29420.

RAY, JR., Arthur
Arthur Ray, Jr., 74, of Goose Creek, and widower of Patricia Todd Ray, died Monday, February 4, 2002. Mr. Ray was born in Lugoff, S.C., he was the son of Arthur Ray, Sr., and Marie N. Ray. He was a veteran of the United States Army and a member of Park Circle Presbyterian Church. Mr. Ray was a Management Analyst at the Naval Supply Center in S.C., and the Vitro Corporation in Kings Bay, GA. Survivors include two sons, Arthur M. (Artie) Ray of Hanahan and Edward W. (Eddie) Ray, and one daughter, Cheryl D. Blume of Navarre, FL; one sister, Lucille Todd of Summerville, S.C., and one grandchild, Aaron M. Ray of Hanahan, S.C. Memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 9, 2001 at 2 p.m. Park Circle Presbyterian Church, 4701 Park Circle West, N. Charleston, the Rev. Hill officiant. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 5900 Core Road, Suite #504, North Charleston, S.C. 29406 or the American Heart Association, 215 E. Bay Street, Suite #204, Charleston, S.C. 29401. The family is being served by the CREMATION CENTER OF CHARLESTON, 11 Cunnington Ave., Charleston, S.C. 29405.

BYRD, James
ANDREWS - James R. Byrd, 57, died Sunday morning, February 10, 2002 at his residence.
Funeral services with Military Recognition will be 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 13, 2002, at the Andrews First Pentecostal Holiness Church. Burial with Masonic Rites will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 14, 2002, in the Andrews Memorial cemetery, directed by ANDREWS CHAPEL OF MCKENZIE FUNERAL HOME.
Visitation will follow the funeral service Wednesday, February 13, 2002 at the church.
Mr. Byrd was born October 7, 1944, in Mt. Olive, N.C., a son of Mrs. Lola Potts Byrd and the late Alton Ray Byrd. He was a retired first shift supervisor of the Sampit Lumber Mill division of International Paper Company, Georgetown Mill. He was a Mason, member of the Harper Lodge 225; a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite and a Shriner of the Omar Temple of Mt. Pleasant. He was a Army veteran of the Vietnam War and was awarded the following medals, Bronze Star, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and a member of the Andrews First Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Surviving, in addition to his mother of Mt. Olive, N.C.; are his wife, Janet Byrd of Andrews, three sons Donny Dail and his wife Ellen, Gary Dail and his wife Glennie and Bobby Dail and his wife Dora Lynn, all of Andrews; two daughters, Kim D. Cooper and her husband Derrell, and Gloria B. Cannon and her husband Rusty, all of Andrews; a brother, David Byrd of Mt. Olive, N.C.; two sisters Ann Williamson and Leona Brock, both of Mt. Olive, N.C.; ten grandchildren, Jennifer Dail, Justin Dail, Bevin Dail, Jordan Dail, Jamison Dail, Derrian Cooper, Madison Cooper, Joey Glisson, Brock Cannon, and Logan Cannon.
Memorials may be made to the Andrews First Pentecostal Holiness Church Building Fund, 606 South Cedar Ave., Andrews, S.C. 29510.

COLLINS, Bertram

The brother of Romaryl (Coleman) Forrest, Glenda White, Gloria Mitchell, Angela Mitchell, Nicola Mitchell, Cedric White, William Mitchell, Jr., Tyrone Mitchell and his devoted friend Eulalia President. Aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and host of other friends and relatives are invited to attend his funeral services at the Agape Minister Church at 727 E. Bay St., Thursday, February 14, 2002 at 1 p.m. Burial will be private. The family is being served by the CREMATION CENTER OF CHARLESTON.

Mrs. Dandridge was born March 30, 1922 in Ravenel, S.C., the daughter of Ben Burbage and Julia Martin Burbage.
She is survived by one stepbrother, Reese Burbage of Ravenel, S.C. and many nieces and nephews.
