The relatives and friends of Lawrence 'Lonnie' Eugene Roberson, Jr., are invited to attend his memorial service in Tall Pines Baptist Church this Thursday morning, May 16, 2002 at eleven o'clock. JOHNSON, Nathalee
JESUP, GA. - Nathalee Martin Johnson, 69, of Jesup, GA, died September 17, 2002 in Charleston, SC. The Wayne Co., GA native was a member of Unity Church of God, an entrepreneur, caregiver, consoler, and mother to all.
She is survived by 2 sons, Bill Johnson of Jesup, GA, Chuck Johnson of Charleston, SC; 1 daughter, Kay Johnson Jesup, GA; 1 sister, Virginia Howe of Jesup, GA; 3 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM Friday, September 20, from the Rinehart & Sons Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ryan Ogden officiating. Interment will be in Red Hill cemetery.
The RINEHART & SONS FUNERAL HOME, of Jesup, GA, is in charge of arrangements.

COURTNEY, Herbert
ORANGEBURG - Mr. Herbert Courtney, 84, died Tuesday.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Orangeburg with burial at Memorial Park cemetery in Orangeburg. Visitation will be from 6:00 - 8:00 PM Friday at THOMPSON FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL IN ORANGEBURG.
Survivors include 3 daughters, Mrs. Frank (Liz) Stevens of Orangeburg, Miriam Pervine of Los Vegas, Nevada; Mrs. Richard (Pat) Lewis of St. Cloud, Min.; 6 grandchildren, Kay Shuler of Orangeburg, Terri Belangia of Manning, Brian Shuler of St. Matthew's, Wendy Reynolds of Bythwood, Rick Lewis, Jodi Lewis, both of St. Cloud, MN, Miranda Dempsey of FL; 6 great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Hospice of TRMC, 1324 Hutto St., Orangeburg, SC 29118 or to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 2740 Broughton St., Orangeburg, SC 29115.

DEAN, Wiley
The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Dean are invited to attend the funeral services of the former in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, Thursday morning, September 19, 2002 at Eleven O'clock. Interment, Live Oak Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at STUHR'S WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL.

ALTINE, Robert
GEORGETOWN - Robert Mitchell Altine, 50, died Sunday, September 15, 2002, at Doctor's Hospital in Augusta, GA.
Mr. Altine was born in Georgetown on August 11, 1952. He was the adopted son of the late George Altine and Bertha Wright Altine and the biological son of the late Capers West and Etta Mae Lambert West. Mr. Altine grew up on James Island, graduated from James Island High School, and attended college for a year. He was a former employee of S.C. Electric and Gas Company and also worked as a construction pipefitter. Mr. Altine returned to Georgetown in 1992.
Surviving in addition to his parents of James Island are: three daughters, Ashley Poole, Jessica Poole, and Whitney Poole, all of James Island; a brother, Leland Gibson of Barstow, Calif.; seven sisters, May Belle Moore of Bamberg, Faye Hooker of Burton, Toni Teresa Todd of Conway, Diane Simmons of Fayetteville, N.C., Mary J. Howard, Gloria Jordan and Amy Weaver, all of Georgetown; and a number of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother, Capers West, Jr.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 18, 2002, at two o'clock in the GEORGETOWN CHAPEL OF MAYER FUNERAL HOME. Officiating will be Rev. Wilton Scruggs. Burial will follow in Elmwood cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening, September 17, 2002, from six until eight o'clock.

HARTWELL, Shanekque
Entered into eternal rest, Monday, September 16, 2002, Miss Shanekque Tenia Hartwell of N. Charleston. She is the beloved daughter of Ms. Sherran Hartwell and Mr. Michael Warren; step-daughter of Mr. Geoffrey Miller; sister of Kiara Hartwell, Danielle Hartwell, Tonya Hartwell and Anthony Hartwell; granddaughter of Genevieve Hartwell, Joseph Hartwell and Rebecca Warren. SCOTT, Frances
Frances Ann Prince Scott, 68, wife of Marion Scott, of Summerville, S.C., died Sunday, September 15, 2002, at a local nursing home.
Memorial services will be held at Parks Funeral Chapel, Wednesday morning, September 18, 2002, at 11 o'clock. Entombment will be in Summerville cemetery Mausoleum.

BARONE, Bartolo
Dr. Bartolo Mariano Barone, 68, husband of Mary Pringle Herrin Barone of Seabrook Island, died Tuesday, September 17, 2002. Dr. Barone was born Tuesday, May 15, 1934 in Poughkeepsie, NY, the son of Bartolo M. and Gertrude Granata Barone. He was a graduate of Georgetown University, Washington, DC, where he received his B.S. and M.D. Dr. Barone completed his residency at Neurological Surgery at McGill University in Montreal, Canada. He was a former Chief of Neurology and President of Roper Hospital and Chief of Neurosurgery at St. Francis Xavier Hospital, as well as a consultant neurosurgeon with numerous other hospitals and facilities in the Charleston area. He was on the Board of Commissioners of Roper Hospital, serving as Vice Chairman and Chairman, the Board of Directors, Roper Foundation, serving as Chairman and Vice Chairman, and current Board Chairman of Commun - I - Care, a non-profit organization providing health care to the working poor. Dr. Barone was a member of the Medical Society of South Carolina, past president of the SC Medical Association, Southern Neurological Society, American Association of Neurological Surgeons, past president of the SC Neurosurgical Society, American College of Surgeons, Carolina Yacht Club, SC Historical Society, a life member of the Navy League of US, Seabrook Island Club, the Holy Name Society of St. Mary's Church, the Board of Directors of the Charleston Symphony Orchestra, current Board Chairman of the SC Organ Procurement Agency and the Board of Directors of Project Case. He has authored numerous publications during his career. Dr. Barone was an Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery, Georgetown University, US Naval Hospital, Charleston and Assistant Clinical Professor of Neurosurgery at MUSC. Surviving are his wife of Seabrook Island; three daughters, Florence Mary Barone of Benzonia, MI, Caroline B. Schultz of Sammamish, WA, Elizabeth B. Luzuriaga of Mt. Pleasant; two stepsons, Dr. Rudolph B. Rustin of Mt. Pleasant, Ralford H. Rustin of Folly Beach; a sister, Anna Maria Barone of Clinton Corners, NY; and 7 grandchildren. CROUCH, JR., Edward
Edward Parker Crouch, Jr., 67, of North Charleston, died Tuesday, September 17, 2002, in Mt. Pleasant, SC. He was born June 29, 1935 in Philadelphia, PA, the son of Edward Parker and Mary O'Neil Crouch. The relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral services at 10:30 AM Thursday, September 19, 2002 at the graveside, St. Lawrence cemetery. Surviving are his stepmother, Helen E. Crouch of Mt. Pleasant; an aunt, Loretta Blaney of Baltimore, MD; and a cousin, Retta Blaney of New York, NY. Arrangements by JAMES A. MCALISTER FUNERAL HOME, 1620 Savannah Hwy. 766-1365.

VARNER, Caroline
Caroline Hill Varner, 85, of Lebanon, SC, widow of Walter Herbert Varner, died September 17, 2002 in Charleston County.
Graveside funeral services will be held at Cypress United Methodist Church at 11 o'clock, Thursday morning, September 19, 2002. Friends may call at Parks Funeral Home Wednesday evening from 6 - 8 PM. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Cypress United Methodist Church, 359 School St., Ridgeville, SC 29472.
Mrs. Varner was born October 16, 1916, a daughter of Fred Hill and Ammie Varner Hill. She was a homemaker. She graduated from Ridgeville High School and was a member of Cypress United Methodist Church.
She is survived by sons, Bruce Varner of Lebanon, Lukie Varner of Moncks Corner; brother, Ben Hill of Lebanon; sister, Martha Grooms of Lebanon; 5 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild.
