STUCKEY, Susie
STUCKEY, S.C.- Mrs. Susie Alice Hawkins Stuckey, 88 widow of Dexter Lee Stuckey, Sr., died Monday, September 2, 2002 at the Franke Home in Mt. Pleasant, SC.
Graveside funeral services will be held 3:30 PM, Wednesday, September 4, 2002 at the Indiantown Presbyterian Church cemetery with burial directed by MORRIS FUNERAL HOME OF HEMINGWAY, S.C.
Mrs. Stuckey was born in Columbia, SC, a daughter of the late James and Irene Hamiter Hawkins. She graduated from Columbia High School and Columbia Hospital of Richland County with a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing. She began a nursing career at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Hemingway, SC. She was a member of Indiantown Presbyterian Church, Indiantown Afternoon Circle, The Presbyterian Women, The Hemingway Garden Club, and the Society of 1824 at Medical University of South Carolina.
Surviving includes hers sons, Dexter Lee (Martha Ann) Stuckey of Mt. Pleasant, SC, and Robert Willoughby Stuckey of Stuckey, SC; grandsons, Decter Lee (Shannon) Stuckey, III, Thomas Clayton Stuckey, and Kevin Earl Taylor, great-grandchildren, Joseph Heath Stuckey and Willow Madison Stuckey.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM, Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2002 at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, those who wish to make memorials to: Indiantown Presbyterian Church, 4865 Hemingway Hwy., Hemingway, S.C. 29554, MUSC, Health Sciences Foundation, Dept. of Cardiology or Alzheimers Research, 171 Ashley Ave, Charleston SC 29425-1130 or Lutheran Hospice, 753 Johnnie Dodds Blvd, Mt. WILBANKS, John
John "Jack" Flanders Wilbanks, 64 of Summerville and husband of Patricia Jamison Wilbanks, died Sunday in a Charleston Hospital.
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, September 4, 2002 at 11 o'clock in St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Summerville. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Luke's Children's Center Reading Development Fund, 206 Central Avenue, Summerville, SC 29482. Friends may call at JAMES A DYAL FUNERAL HOME from 5 until 8 o'clock this evening.
Mr. Wilbanks was born on June 21, 1938 in Eastman, Georgia, the son of Hollis Woodrow Wilbanks and Florence Flanders Wilbanks.
From 1979 until his retirement in January 2001, Mr. Wilbanks served as the Town Administrator of Summerville, SC He was the former County Administrator of Dorchester County for 3 years and former City Manager of Folly Beach for 5 years.
From 1982-1989, he and his wife operated Small Business Services, a bookkeeping/payroll company. From 1989-present, he operated Jack Wilbanks Enterprises, conducting seminars and facilitating retreats for councils, Chambers of Commerce, and other organizations throughout the Southeast. Since his retirement, he served as parttime Interim City Administrator of Johnsonville, SC and as an advisor to the Town Council of Holly Hill, SC. He was a member and past chairman (1972-present) of the SC City and Managers Association and SC Municipal Association 1972-present). He was a member of the Board and Chairman of the SC Local Government Assurance Group (1981-85; 1992-98).
He was associated with the following clubs: Charter President of the James Island Optimist Club; former President of the Folly Beach Civic Club; Past President of the Trolley Talkers Toastmaster's Club; Past President of the Summerville Kwanis Club.
He was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church where he served as a former member if the church council. He also served as a former treasurer of St. Luke's Children Center.
Surviving are his wife, Patricia, a son, John F. Wilbanks, Jr., of Goose Creek, SC, 2 daughters, Shannon A. Wilbanks, Greenville, SC, and Shelly and husband, Daniel Ehrlich of Washing, DC, 2 grandchildren, Megan Amanda Ehrlich and Ari Ehrlich, both of Washington, DC.

Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Mrs. Anna Mae Goodwine-Smith, six daughters, Mrs. Norma Lincoln (Harold), Mrs. Roselyn Porcher (Rodney), Mrs. Melvenia Smith-Greene (Anthony), Mrs. Lorrie Richardson (Louis), Mrs. Juanita Lockwood (Joe) and Ms. Donna Maria Smith, two sons, Mr. Marvin Goodwine (Nicole), and Mr. Franklin David Bennett (Justine), twenty grandchildren, father-in-law, Mr. Edward Goodwine (Elaine), two aunts, Mrs. Lizzie Washington and Mrs. Florence Smith, four sisters-in-law, Mrs. Berneatha Jenkins (John), Mrs. Janie Lee Smith, Mrs. Virginia Mackey and Mrs. Albertha G. Brisbane, eight brothers-in-law, Irvin Goodwine, Mr. Edward Goodwine (Albertha), Mr. Joseph Goodwine (Loretta), Mr. Fred Green, Sr., Mr. Joseph Bryant (Erika), Mr. Thomas Bryant (Herline), Mr. Thomas Greene and Mr. William Hutchinson (Rose) and a host of nieces and nephews.

CHASTAIN, Mildred
Mildred Gunter Chastain, 87, widow of Paul Gilreath Chastain, of Charleston, SC and formerly of Columbia, SC, died Sunday, September 1, 2002 at a local hospital.
Graveside funeral services will be held at Wagener cemetery in Wagener, SC, on Wednesday afternoon, September 4, 2002 at 2 o'clock. Friends may call at Parks Funeral Home, Summerville, SC this Tuesday evening from 6:00 - 7:30 o'clock.

Mrs. Chastain was born August 31, 1915 in Wagener, SC, a daughter of Lloyd Gunter and Maggie Garvin Gunter. She was a homemaker and a member of Trenholm Road United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Rebecca Jackson and her son-in-law, Jimmy Jackson, both of Summerville, SC; and two grandchildren, James G. Jackson and Steven N. Jackson, both of Summerville, SC.

O'CONNOR, Genevieve
Genevieve Ann (Smith) O'Connor, 71, of Goose Creek, the wife of Francis M. O'Connor, died August 31, 2002. Born December 20, 1930 in Charleston, SC, she was the daughter of Perry and Elizabeth Smith (nee McGrane). She was a devoted mother, wife, grandmother, and a friend to all who knew and loved her. For 12 years she was the bookkeeper at Marrington Elementary School in Goose Creek. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 AM, today at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Gardens. MCALISTER-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, GOOSE CREEK CHAPEL, is assisting the O'Connor family.
