Georgianna Gibbons (Parsons)
December 28, 1929 ~ November 13, 2016 (age 86)

EUTAWVILLE – Georgianna Parsons Gibbons, 86, of Eutawville, widow of Bennie C. Gibbons, passed away Surviving are a niece, Christine Murrelle of Lake City; a nephew, Wayne (Debbie) Gibbons of Summerville; several additional nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog, Doodles.Sunday, November 13, 2016 McLeod Hospice House in Florence.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Avinger Funeral Home in Holly Hill with Pastors Buddy Locke, Terry Dennis, and Chis Lee officiating. Burial will follow in the Eutawville Cemetery.

Georgianna was born in Williamsburg County, a daughter of the late George Wesley Parsons and Ethel Mary Hanniford Parsons. She was a sales clerk at various stores in Charleston before retiring to Eutawville. Georgianna was an active member of First Baptist Church of Holly Hill, and recently was attending Faith Holiness Church in Scranton. She was a member and former secretary of the Eutawville Lions Club.

Surviving are a niece, Christine Murrelle of Lake City; a nephew, Wayne (Debbie) Gibbons of Summerville; several additional nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog, Doodles.

There will be a visitation from 1 until 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Arlen Wayne Rohl
August 22, 1938 ~ November 20, 2016 (age 78)

EUTAWVILLE – Arlen Wayne Rohl, 78, of Eutawville, widower of the late Arlene Smith Rohl, passed away Sunday, November 20, 2016 in a Manning nursing home.

A funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at New Covenant Presbyterian Church in Manning with Rev. John Beane officiating. Burial, with military honors, will be 12 noon Friday in Andersonville National Cemetery, Andersonville, GA.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. this Tuesday at Avinger Funeral Home in Holly Hill.

Arlen was born August 22, 1938 in Scotia California to the late Ernest N. Rohl, Sr. and Sarah Pullen Rohl. He grew up in Crannell, CA, and on a small cattle ranch in Dow's Prairie, CA. He attended Crannell and Trinidad Elementary Schools, Arcata Union High School, and Humboldt State College. He entered the USAF Aviation Cadet Class 59-15N in Sept Of 1958. He was tendered a Commission as a Second Lieutenant with an Aeronautical rating of Navigator on August 19, 1959 and graduated from Electronic Warfare Officer School in July 1959. He retired October 1, 1978 as a Master Navigator.

Arlen has been presented the Republic of Vietnam Service Medal, the Republic of Vietnam Commendation Medal, The Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, the Air Force Combat Crew Medal, 3 Air Force Commendation Medals. The National Defense Service Medal, 5 Air Medals, and the Distinguished Flying Cross.

Arlen was Assistant Chief of the USAF Europe Tactical Air Control Center's Combat Intelligence Division at Sembach AFB, Germany for two years. He flew in the B-52G, the B-58 (hustler), the EB-66 Electronic warfare and reconnaissance aircraft and the RF-4C photo reconnaissance aircraft. He was an instructor in the B-58 and RF -4. He was the Assistant Chief of the 363 rd TRW Weapons and Tactics Division as well as a com at crew member in an operational RF-4C Squadron. After retirement from the Air Force, he was employed by Lloyd Moore land surveyor as a party chief and instrument man, G.L. Smith Inc in Santee, and Holly Hill Country Club as Golf Course Superintendent.

Arlen is a Past Master Councilor of the Arcata, CA Order of DeMolay Chapter, and Past Master of Vance Masonic Lodge of Vance, SC. He was a member and serving Deacon of New Covenant Presbyterian Church of Manning, SC. He was predeceased by siblings, Ernest N. Rohl, Jr., Lillian Swope, and Emma Dahlberg Carlson.

Surviving are a son, Jeff Rohl and granddaughter Katie of Holly Hill; daughter, Jennifer (Charlie) Barrett and granddaughter, Faythe of Manning; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to New Covenant Presbyterian Church, 2833 Alex Harvin Hwy., Manning, SC 29102.

Daisy Cummings (Rhode)
February 3, 1923 ~ December 15, 2016 (age 93)

HOLLY HILL – Daisy Rhode Cummings, 93, of Holly Hill, died on Thursday, December 15, 2016 at her residence.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 17 between 4-6 p.m. at Avinger Funeral Home. The funeral will be also held at Avinger Funeral Home, 2274 Eutaw Road in Holly Hill with the Reverend Cooper Stonestreet officiating on Sunday, December 18 at 2 p.m.

Pallbearers will be nephews, Dennis Rhode, Ricky Rhode, Lyn Rhode and Miles Rhode and longtime family friends, Britton Moorer, Bill Behie and Dr. John Baker of Warren Ohio.

Mrs. Cummings was born February 3, 1923 in Dorchester, SC, a daughter of the late Dennis S. Rhode and Lottie Pendarvis Rhode. Mrs. Cummings was a graduate of Summerville High School. She was the bookkeeper for their family business, Santee Block Company for over 20 years. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and known for her excellent cooking and sewing skills. She was a member of the Holly Hill United Methodist Church.

She is survived by two sons: Billy (Gayle Berry) Cummings of Holly Hill and Steve (Becky) Cummings of Atlanta, GA; daughter-in-love, Cynthia S. Cummings of Holly Hill; and four grandsons, Richard, Rhett, Blake and Grant Cummings. "DeeDee" will be greatly missed by her family. She was also blessed with such faithful and wonderful nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased in death by her husband of 68 years, Richard (Dick) H. Cummings, Sr., son, Richard (Rick) H. Cummings, Jr; infant daughter, Beth; six sisters, Jimmie Alice Westbury, Annie Bell Weiss, Dorothy Franklin, Mildred Cook, Beatrice Hutchins and Kate Idell Rhode; and two brothers, D.S. Rhode, Jr. and Joe S. Rhode.

A special thank you to Regency Hospice and April Gadson for their excellent care and love.

Ricky Glen Infinger
June 29, 1961 ~ December 15, 2016 (age 55)

HOLLY HILL – Ricky Glen Infinger, 55, of Holly Hill, died Thursday, December 15, 2016 in an Orangeburg nursing home.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Avinger Funeral Home with Pastor John Bunch officiating. Burial will follow in the Scott Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 12 p.m. at the funeral home.

Ricky was born in Holly Hill, a son of the late Lester Infinger and Elizabeth Tidwell Infinger. He was an iron worker in construction.

Surviving are his wife, Brenda Pratt Infinger of Holly Hill; a son, Glen Infinger of Holly Hill; sisters, Shelby Vinson and Lisa Walker, both of Lugoff, Linda Lollis of Carnesville, GA, and Mary Pratt of Holly Hill; and a brother, Norman Infinger of Lugoff.

Norman Reed Hampton Sr., ORANGEBURG

Funeral services for Mr. Norman Reed Hampton Sr., 52, of 950 Oaklane Drive, Orangeburg, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2006, at Glover’s Funeral Home Chapel, Orangeburg with the Rev. F. B. Stroman officiating. Burial will be in Belleville Memorial Gardens, Orangeburg.

Pallbearers will be cousins and friends of family.

Mr. Hampton died Thursday, Dec. 7, at the residence of his son following an extended illness.

William H. Parmlee, BLACKVILLE

Funeral services for Mr. William H. Parmlee, 80, of 1205 Oak Ave., Blackville, will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 8, 2006, at Tabernacle Baptist Church, Blackville, with the Rev. Dr. Herman Wallace officiating. Burial will be in Hope Memorial Park Cemetery, Barnwell.

The casket will be placed in the church one hour before the service.

Mr. Parmlee died Thursday, Nov. 30, at the Medical College of Georgia after a brief illness.

He was born July 31, 1926, in Fayetteville, N.C., to the late William H. and Mrs. Annie Mae Parmlee. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Roxbury, Mass. William was employed by Aluminum and Bronze Foundry and retired in 1989. “Bill, ” as he was known, will be remembered as a hard and dedicated worker. He was a devoted and giving husband, generous father and a loving grandfather. Bill loved his entire family, was kindhearted and would always lend a helping hand to whomever he could.

Survivors include his loving wife, Isabell Parmlee of the home; 10 daughters, Linda Yvonne (Presley) Obasohan of Boston, Helen Parmlee of Bridgeport, Conn., Alice (Willie) Polite of Bridgeport, Conn., Judy (Ernie) Barnes of Columbia, Shirley (William) Gibson of Trumbell, Conn., Linda (Ralph) Walker of Boston, Anita Milton of Boston, Deborah (Frederick) Smith of Boston, Pearl (Tony) DaSilva of Connecticut and Dorothy Cox of Boston; five sons, William H. (Wanda) Parmlee Jr. of Raleigh, N.C., Edward Parmlee of Bridgeport, Conn., Eugene Parmlee of Winston-Salem, N.C., Richard (Lorna) Parmlee of Hartford, Conn., Donell (Lynette) Porter of Boston; 54 grandchildren; 61 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives, in-laws and friends.

Viewing will be from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at Green’s Funeral Home of Blackville.

Friends may call at the residence and the funeral home.

Robert Johnson -- ORANGEBURG

Funeral services for Robert Johnson, 55, 361 Ashland Drive, Orangeburg, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2006, at the Nancy Freeman Stringer Memorial Chapel of The Methodist Oaks, with Chaplain Shrawder officiating. Burial will be in the Belleville Memorial Gardens.

The casket will be placed in the chapel at 10 a.m.

Pallbearers will be Van Raysor, Greg Gardner, Myron Simpson, Anthony Harrison, and Robert Donaldson.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmie Johnson, Steve Crawford, Darrin Johnson, Clyde Johnson, Maurice Giles and Angelo Johnson.

Mr. Johnson died Wednesday, Dec. 6, at The Methodist Oaks after an extended illness.

Robert “Fly” Johnson was born July 31, 1951, in Orangeburg, a son of the late Samuel Osborne and Rosa Lee Felder Johnson. He was educated in the Orangeburg County Schools. He served in the United States Army in Vietnam. He held various jobs throughout his life until he became ill. At an early age, he joined the Shiloh Baptist Church of Orangeburg. Later in life, he recommitted his life to the Lord. Three brothers preceded him in death, Willie L. Robinson, Herbert Johnson and John Albert Johnson.

He leaves to cherish his memories, two daughters, Tonia M. Whetstone of Orangeburg and Robin P. Johnson of Delaware; four sisters, Annie Lee (Hercules) Kenley of Connecticut, Ruby Mae (John) Myers, Elouise J.C. Muhammad, Annie Margaret Mosby, Deanie Johnson of New York; one brother, Leonard (Virginia) Snell of Orangeburg and one grandson, Justin J. Wilson of Orangeburg; one god-son, Anthony DeShawn Harrison of Orangeburg; 12 nieces, seven nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Friends may call at the home of his sister, Mrs. Rubie Johnson Myers, 361 Ashland Drive, or at Newton Funeral Home from 1:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday.

Newton Funeral Home of Orangeburg is in charge of arrangements.
