WALTERBORO - Mrs. Edna Willis McGahan, 77, widow of Jesse McGahan, died Thursday at a Summerville medical center.Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Monday in the Glendale Memorial Cemetery directed by the BRICE W. HERNDON AND SONS FUNERAL HOME.Surviving are a son, Paul McGahan of Walterboro, a sister, a brother, 4 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.Visitation will be on Monday from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

QUARLES, JR., Herbert
KINGSTREE - Services for Dr. Herbert Raymond Quarles will be held Sunday, November 18, 2001, at 3:00 p.m., at Kingstree Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dennis Nolan officiating. A private burial will follow at a later date. Visitation will be held Saturday, November 17, 2001 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Williamsburg Funeral Home in Kingstree. Memorials may be made to Kingstree Presbyterian Church, Sumter Road, Kingstree, SC 29556 or to the Williamsburg Academy Development Fund, P.O. Box 770, Kingstree, SC 29556.Dr. Quarles died at home on November 15, 2001, after a short illness. He was the Headmaster of Williamsburg Academy and a Faculty Member at Williamsburg Technical College. He retired as a US Navy Commander in 1985 and later received his doctorate from the University of South Carolina. His activities included active participation in SCISA, The Association of Secondary School Principals, Rotary, The Retired Officers Association, The Gamecock Club and the USC Alumni Association.Surviving are his wife Patsy, daughter and son-in-law, Anne and Rusty Campbell of Greer, SC, son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Julie Quarles of Peachtree City, Ga., and grandchildren, Will and Ben Campbell and Elizabeth and Catherine Quarles. He was predeceased by his parents, Raymond and Lurlene Quarles of Edgefield, SC.

CROSBY, JR., John
Mr. John Franklin Crosby, Jr., 57, of 856 Barkers Mill Pond Road in Fairfax, died Thursday afternoon in the Providence Hospital in Columbia after an extended illness.Mr. Crosby was born in Jasper County, January 20, 1944, a son of Mrs. Rosena Stanley Crosby and the late John Franklin Crosby, Sr. Mr. Crosby had retired from the South Carolina Highway Department in Hampton in the Maintenance Department.Surviving besides his mother of Columbia are his wife, Frances Brunson Crosby of Fairfax; three daughters, Kathy Shaner of Barnwell, Connie Chassereau of Ehrhardt and Mary Beth Herron of Fairfax; one sister, Elizabeth Hull of Columbia; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Funeral services will be 4 p.m. Saturday in the Chapel of PEEPLES-RHODEN FUNERAL HOME in Hampton, conducted by Rev. Garland Smith, with burial in the Browning Cemetery.Friends may call at the Chapel in Hampton after 7 p.m. Friday, and Saturday until the hour of services.

SALISBURY, Lucille H.
Lucille Hill Salisbury, 86, of Cypress Camp Ground Rd., Lebanon, died Friday at her residence.The funeral will be at 4:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon, Nov. 18, 2001, in the CHAPEL OF DIAL-MURRAY FUNERAL HOME, MONCKS CORNER. Interment will be in Berkeley Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. this Saturday evening.Mrs. Salisbury was born Feb. 27, 1915, in Lebanon, SC, a daughter of John Wesley Hill and Annie Hill Hill. She was a member of the Lebanon United Methodist Church. Mr. and Mrs. Salisbury were married for 65 years.Surviving are her husband, W. Connor Salisbury; three daughters and their husbands, Hermine and Maderia Gaskins of Moncks Corner, Betty and Delano Gaskins of Lebanon and Debbie and Kenny Whitley of Summerville; a son and his wife, Rembert and Sharon Salisbury of Moncks Corner; a sister, Sallie H. White of Lebanon; J. Major Hill of Lebanon; and eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

FRANKLIN, NC - Robert S. Rogers, Hospital Corpsman, Senior Chief, Retired US Navy, passed away Thursday, November 15, 2001, at his home after a brief illness.He was born August 15, 1929, in Miami, Fla. Bob was a Pastmaster of Mariner Lodge No. 2 AFM. He was a 32 Degree Scottish Rite of Freemasonry in Charleston, SC. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mattie and Herbert G. Rogers.Bob is survived by his stepmother, Alice Orr Rogers of Nashville, Tenn.; his wife, Frances Rogers of Franklin, NC; his sister, Shirley Kester of Tampa, Fla.; his children, Tom Rogers of Tallahassee, Fla., Dean Rogers, Herb Rogers and Donna Clemmensen of Houston, Tex.; Don Rogers and Debra Lowder of Charleston, SC; Dave Rogers of Gilbertsville, Penn.; and 13 grandchildren.Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 18, 2001, at Rose Creek Baptist Church, Franklin, NC. James "Jamie" C. Barnett, 21, of Ladson, died Saturday, November 17, 2001, at his residence. He was born in Waukegan, Ill., and has been a lifetime Ladson resident. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and a 2000 graduate of Stratford High School. Jamie will be sadly missed by his parents, James "Jim" and Laura Agee Barnett, sister Melissa D. Coffey of Anderson, brother-in-law, Leland, two nephews, Daniel and Brandon, niece, Chelcie, paternal grandparents, Herbert and Bessie Jones Peeler, maternal grandparents, Ivan and Mary Grace Benad Cartwright, both of Rolla, Mo. Visitation will be Monday one hour prior to the service from 1 until 2 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. The Liturgy of Christian Burial will begin at 2 at the church with burial in Plantation Memorial Gardens. Mary Elizabeth Clinkscales, 77, retired Administrative Officer, Mechanical Group, Charleston Naval Shipyard, of Charleston, S.C., entered into eternal rest on Friday, November 16, 2001. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral services on Monday, November 19, 2001, at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., DOWNTOWN CHAPEL, at 10 a.m. Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. at Starr Baptist Churchyard, Starr, S.C. Relatives and friends may call on Sunday from 4 to 6 o'clock at J. Henry Stuhr's, Inc., Downtown Chapel.Miss. Clinkscales was born October 30, 1924, in Starr, S.C., a daughter of Samuel Wharton Clinkscales and Mattie Bargainnier Clinkscales. She was a graduate of Starr High School and attended Rabun Gap Junior College, Rabun Gap, Ga. Upon her retirement from the Charleston Naval Shipyard, with 40 years and 8 months of service, she was awarded the U.S. Navy Civilian Meritious Service Award by the Secretary of the Navy. She was the first female employee of the Shipyard to receive such an honor. She received numerous outstanding awards and other certificates of excellence.She was also a long time employee in the Secretary's Office of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, Charleston, S.C.Miss Clinkscales was a very active Member of Citadel Square Baptist Church, Charleston, S.C. She served as Secretary of the Finance Committee from 1981 to present, served as a Member of the Historical Committee and held other offices in the Church and in her Sunday school classes.She is survived by one sister, Margaret C. Hornick of Greenville, S.C., nine nieces and nephews, Sammy Clinkscales, Marie Turpin, Roger Hornick, Joey Hornick, Joyce Ann Merck, Preston Clinkscales (deceased), Brenda Torge, Sharon Childs, and Jimmy Clinkscales.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Citadel Square Baptist Church Building Fund, 328 Meeting Street, Charleston, SC 29403.

Nancy Hanlon White, 49, of Charleston, died Friday, November 16, 2001 in Charleston. She was born in Charleston to the late John H. and Jane Hanlon White. Nancy was a 1971 graduate of Bishop-England High School and attended Marjorie Webster College and Palmer College. She is survived by a son, Ryan Campbell of Gill, Ma., two daughters, Kelly and Katie Campbell, both of Charleston, and their father, Colin R. Campbell, two sisters, Sally White Greer of Charleston and Peggy White Cunningham of Mt. Pleasant, and two granddaughters, Bryanna Campbell and Alden Campbell. Friends may call at MCALISTER-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, DOWNTOWN, 150 Wentworth St. Sunday between 5 and 7 p.m. and after the funeral at the home of her sister and brother-in-law Sally & Chuck Greer. He was a member of The Episcopal Church of the Holy Cross. He was a graduate of Porter Military Academy. He served with the US Army during W.W. II.Mr. Haselden enjoyed a lifelong love of music, especially piano. In his early years he had a radio show on WCSC in Charleston where he sang and played tunes. Together with his dear friend Gene Halsey, he wrote, "The Azalea Waltz" in 1935. It became the theme song for Charleston's famed Azalea Festival for many years. He was a devoted father and husband and was loved by all who knew him. His gentle and friendly ways made him especially dear to all.He is survived by his wife of Mount Pleasant, SC; one son: Holmes P. Haselden, Jr. of White Fish, Montana; two daughters: Katherine H. Chandler and her husband James of Isle of Palms, SC and Hope H. Parker and her husband Telfair of Charleston, SC; one brother: Edward W.
