Mariana Palmer Blair, 79, died at her home, surrounded by family, on the morning of Saturday, December 15, 2001. The memorial service will be Tuesday, December 18, 2001 at 2:00 o'clock in the First United Methodist Church of Isle of Palms. The family will greet friends in the Lupo Fellowship Hall at the church after the service. Arrangements were made at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., MT. PLEASANT CHAPEL.Mrs. Blair was born January 29, 1922 in Painesville, Ohio, the daughter of Frank S. and Helen Palmer Merrill. She was graduated from the Huron Road School of Nursing in Painesville. Mariana was the former owner of Knitting Kats in Mt. Pleasant. She enjoyed singing with the "Sweet Adelines" and was a charter member of the First United Methodist Church of the Isle of Palms. She was the widow of Howard G. Blair.Mrs. Blair is survived by her sons, Todd Blair of Bowman, David Blair of Mt. Pleasant, and Leonard R. Cannon of Isle of Palms. In addition, she is survived by her grandchildren, Jason Blair, Todd Blair, Jr., Hillary Blair, Sarah Blair and David H. Blair and three great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Sally Houle of Mt. James F. McClary, 86, known at "Jim" or "Mac" to his family and friends died Saturday, December 15, 2001 at a local hospital. Born June 1, 1915 in Kingstree, S.C. he was the son of James F. and Theodora McClary (nee Smith). Mr. McClary was a former detective with the Charleston Police Dept. before retiring from the Naval Shipyard. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Erline S. McClary, Charleston; son and daughter-in-law Earl F. and Betty G. McClary, Kennesaw, Ga., daughter and son-in-law Jeanne M. and Julius H. Prause, Summerville; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 17, 2001 at MCALISTER-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, DOWNTOWN CHAPEL, 150 Wentworth Street. Interment will follow at Bethany Cemetery, Charleston. Captain Richard Allen Thornal, 62, of Stuart Florida, died on Friday, December 7, 2001, in Martin Memorial Medical Center, Stuart.A native of Charleston, S. C., he graduated from St. Andrew's High School and Kings Point, The Merchant Marine Academy. After serving two years in the Navy as Lt. jg., he sailed on merchant ships for 16 years. His last ship as captain was the Sea Land Consumer. In 1977 he joined the Biscayne Bay Pilots Association as a harbor pilot in the port of Miami, where he remained for 20 years.Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Judie Harrell Thornal of Stuart; his two daughters, Donna Thornal and husband Steve Byrom of Singapore and Alison Thornal Santiago and husband Dwight of Coral Gables, Florida; and his four grandchildren, Philippa and Nicola Byrom and Emerson and Andrew Santiago.He is also survived by his brother James Thornal of James Island, S.C.Those who wish may contribute to Sea Scout Ship 404, 759 Rio Vista Drive, Ft. Mrs. Watts was born October 20, 1922 in Kershaw County a daughter of the late Napoleon B. and Lucy Gardner Welsh. She was the widow of Heyward Watts and a Baptist. She was a farmer. Melvin "Cooper" Howard, Sr., 51, of Mt. Pleasant, died Saturday, December 15, 2001, at his residence. He was born in Sumter, S.C. to Leo and Thelma Rosalee (Freeman) Howard. Cooper has been a lifelong Charleston area resident and owned and operated Howard & Howard Flooring Co. and had worked previously with Wal-Mart. He was a member of Seacoast Christian Community Church. Besides his mother, he is survived by his wife, Bonnie (Younglove) Howard, two sons, Melvin Cooper Howard, Jr. of Mt. Pleasant, Charles Howard of Charleston, daughter Theresa Anne Doyle of Mt. Pleasant, stepson, John R. Kitchener, Jr. of Goose Creek, stepdaughter, Marian Bonita Reyes of Goose Creek, a brother, Lewis Brunson Howard of Mt. Mrs. Lysaght was born November 25, 1917, in McClellanville, S.C., a daughter of Robert Gantt Taylor and Catherine Cumbee Taylor. She was a member of John's Island Presbyterian.
Mrs. Lysaght is survived by her one son, Joseph A. Lysaght, Jr., of Charleston, S.C., one daughter, Linda Baxley of John's Island, S.C., five grandchildren, Richard Alan Zeigler, Steven L. Baxley, Vicky L. Davis, Scott A. Baxley, Felicia Shawn Thomas, seven great-grandchildren, one sister, Mary T. Horton of Summerville, S.C., two brothers, Julian Taylor of Mt. Pleasant, S.C., and Mouzon Taylor of Cross, S.C.

LONG, Abigail
CONWAY - Abigail "Abbie" M. Long, age 78, of Pearl St., died Saturday, December 15, 2001, at her residence following an illness.
Ms. Long was born in Holly Hill, S.C., a daughter of the late Rev. Purdy Belvin McLeod, Sr., and Ethel Gertrude McLeod. She was a U.S. Army Veteran. Prior to retirement, Ms. Long was employed by Horry-Georgetown Technical College.
Surviving are, one son, Stephen Long of Myrtle Beach; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Col Purdy B. McLeod, Jr., and wife Odell McLeod of Columbia, Laurie A. McLeod and wife Sue McLeod of Longs, S.C., Cecil H. McLeod and wife Karen McLeod of Mt. Pleasant; one sister and brother-in-law, Nell Hobbs and husband Harold Hobbs of North Myrtle Beach; and many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, from GOLDFINCH FUNERAL HOME, CONWAY CHAPEL, with Rev. Carl Harris officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1 until 2 p.m., Monday.

MOISE, John
SUMTER, S.C. - John Grant Moise, 48, died Sunday, December 16, 2001, at an area hospital.
Born in Sumter, he was the son of Harold Moise, II, and Clara Grant Moise.
Mr. Moise was the owner of Moise Enterprises, an Environmental Service Company. He graduated from Wilson Hall School, attended the Citadel and University of South Carolina at Sumter.
Surviving are his parents; two brothers, Harold Edwin Moise of San Antonio, Texas, and Henry LeNoir Moise of Mt. Pleasant; two nieces and a nephew.
Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m., Tuesday, in the Sumter Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. John Barr and Rev. Mark Riggs officiating.
The family will receive friends at the home, 13 Glendale Ct.
